This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but was a huge disappointment today! The tables, floor, and room were all very dirty. Flies were landing on our table and they did not have the ingredients to make the food that we wanted to order. The restaurant was not busy at all, and they were out of the waffle mix to make Monte Cristos. I decided to give the burger a try, but it came out smelling weird and tasting very bland. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the bathroom door was so sticky when my arm touched it. There was hardly any soap to wash with. I had read bad reviews that this place had gotten dirty and rundown, but wanted to give them another try since we've always liked it. We will not be coming again. read more

We were in town for my Dad's 60th class reunion. Two from Frisco Tx, Two from Killeen and me from Austin. We happened on this local spot and we all highly recommend if you are looking for a very GOOD brunch spot. The service was excellent both days we went. The wait staff courteous and friendly. Fantastic Fish Tacos! Delicious!! Instead of fries, Id love it if they came with avocado and lime. Or a third fish taco. Service is cool. However, when picking up an order to go I have to walk to the bar in back, then wait for the bartender to finish their friendly conversation with the guests.(that's good) A more efficient way for pickup would be appreciated. read more

Second time here while vacationing. Just as good as last year. This time we got chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Also ordered mimosaronnos, a twist on a mimosa, which was lovely. Would definitely get again. My hotel didn't have free breakfast, so I took my colleague here for a quick breakfast before heading to the site. When we arrived, there were several cars in the parking lot of this business which is situated on a small lake. It turns out, many of the cars were there for some sort of reunion. We weren't interested in the lake views since we were still half asleep and really only had about 45 minutes to eat. Inside is pretty homey and there are several signs indicating they've won various awards from local newspapers for best chicken fried steak, and other items. After looking at their menu, this restaurant seemed to belong in a bigger city since they offer items you don't usually see in small towns. Fresh squeezed juice and juice blends, gourmet breakfast items like bananas foster, and unique breakfast items like Texas Trash and grilled banana bread. Since I was short on time, I just ordered the 1 egg combo with pancakes, home fried potatoes and chicken fried steak to try it out. For $10, they bring out 3 plates and good luck finishing everything. It was all very delicious. The pancakes were very fluffy and perfect. I added a ginger delight drink (pineapple, orange and ginger). My colleague only ordered biscuits and gravy since he had eaten a cinnamon roll earlier in the morning, but said his meal was excellent. I'd definitely return to try lunch or dinner, since I'm sure it's just as inventive as the breakfast. read more

I had the Donut French Toast. At first I was a little skeptical that it would be too sweet. It wasnt, this was absolutely delicious and I would absolutely get this again. However, the other people with me said their breakfast was delicious as well and they had waffles, pancakes, omelet and grits....all 4 of us left happy and full. Great local spot for food and drinks right by Mammoth Lake. After a long day of scuba diving in the lake, this was a great post dive watering hole to replenish our bodies with some tasty appetizers and alcohol. We shared an appetizer sampler platter with cheese sticks, boneless wings, and what I think were boudin balls. Will have to check out the breakfast options next time I'm nearby to dive. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I am highly disappointed. We ended up leaving after 25 minutes and still not receiving our drinks. We were seated quickly to a dirty table that had crumbs all over it. The hostess dropped one of our silverware on the ground and put it on our table for us to use. Never gave us another clean one to be replaced with. Our server Ronnie took over 10 minutes to ask us what we wanted to drink. Another server came over to get us waters and put our drinks in. Ronnie was too busy dancing behind the bar and talking to the 2 bartenders who were doing nothing but talking. We waited for 25 minutes and saw our server hovering not even a foot away from my boyfriend's drink that was just sitting at the bar. We had enough when we heard him laughing with one of the bartender's who was making my drink and she made it incorrectly. Again, no apologies. We left. As we were leaving I asked if there was a manager to speak to and the hostess said, "Um, I don't know if we have one. I'll have to check." The bathrooms are DISGUSTING, the service is terrible, and you can tell there is no management because the staff does not care. Also, when my boyfriend went to use the restroom while we were there, the hostess was having an argument with someone on her phone. read more

June 12, 2024 we visited this restaurant for lunch. We have eaten here several times prior and food & service has always been great. We took some first time guests and it was a big disappointment. The service was not good, the food was cold, the wait to get our food was extremely long. One order was not filled and the guest wasn't informed until the food was served to the rest of the table. Asiel's has always been one of my most favorite restaurants in the Brazosport area. While the Blackened Fish Tacos by far exceed my expectations, the menu has other delectable choices. In the summer I really enjoy the Orange, Strawberry, Pecan chicken salad. When it's cold out the Chicken and Dumplings warm me right up and flood me with memories of being in my grandmother's kitchen. The quesadillas are fab, as well as their pork chops and chicken fried steak. I skip the desserts but it's only because I'm too full... they make some great sweet treats as well. I should also mention their breakfasts! They have hearty country breakfast plates as well as, my fav, a Tex-Mex breakfast quesadilla that is super yummy. Now that you know how much I love Asiel's, let me tell you something super special about this restaurant. I began working from home a few months ago. My new position has a defined lunch period, to which I need to adhere. A previous coworker and I like to go to Asiel's for lunch but it requires a little flexibility, because they are very popular and very busy most of the time, which can dramatically alter the speed of service. One day I told my friend, "let's call and order our lunch before we go and then it will be ready when we get there." Well, not only has Asiel's accommodated this request for us multiple times now, they always have a table reserved and if we request, our drinks on the table too. I am able to visit with my friend and not feel stressed about my lunch break. This is really going above and beyond in my book! read more

They have a great menu and what I consider the best breakfast place in Lake Jackson. The quantity of food for the price is amazing and no quality is sacrificed. The tres leches pancakes were very moist and still fluffy. The omelette that I got was also cooked and filled to satisfy any appetite.
