About 50% of the menu is good 50% of the time. Very inconsistent. Service is usually slow. Location is nice and kept clean.

We used to love this place when it first opened.......but the food was different this last time. Onion rings use to be handmade and they are not anymore. Waiter said it was under new management. Were not happy with the food, but we were comparing it the the before. Unless they is a need, we won't be visiting again. I hate it when restaurants decide to make changes and make a bigger menu, but so takes away from being original. read more

The food is awesome. We ordered blackened shrimp cooked right and very good quantity 9 big shrimps you can add 3 more for $5 sounds pricey but actually 9 and the two side dishes should be enough. We also order fry red snapper and the size was very good. Next time we will order that again. Chicken fried chicken and waffles is a very good option. read more

Came here on a Friday night after driving by the past few days and seeing the number of cars in the parking lot and reviewing their online menu. We saw the French Onion pork chop and that sounded really good so we decided to forgo eating seafood and try Asiels. That was a Fantastic decision , we were lucky to be seated with a great view of Mammoth Lake and our server was Josh. He was fantastic from beginning to end, super attentive to our table with recommendations for our dinner all the way through desert. Josh kept our drinks full and made our first time here a very pleasurable experience. Our pork chops were delicious and we topped it off with ice cream and cheesecake for desert. This will be a restaurant we will look forward to coming back to again and again when we visit the coast. Went there for the first time today after diving Mammoth lake. Waitress was nice but not the sharpest. My buddy ordered a cheeseburger and I a grilled chicken sandwich. Neither one impressed. My sandwich was small and tasteless,it was supposed to come w tomato but didn't and had to pay a surcharge for onion. Friends burger looked awful. And he said it tasted it. Were always hungry when were done diving. I think next time we'll look down the road. Note: they are doing alot of construction and work to the place. Maybe some will be with the restaurant.. My family and I absolutely LOVE this place! Every time we go to the beach we come eat here and bring our friends! The servers are always so friendly and knowledgeable and if you haven't been they always tell you all the stories of the restaurant! Well another fine breakfast! Unique plates- I had a Texas trash, very very good stuff. I couldn't finish it- it's a lot food. Nice and clean with a nice view. Eat here! It's good. Homemade - not the frozen reheated plaster that's sold at other restaurants. They got a lovely lake for a cool scenic view while you eat on the air conditioned patio. Staff is friendly too. Asiel's is a top tier eatery. Everything is amazing from the hosts and waitresses to the ambience and food. I love going on Thursdays for the $2 tacos and margaritas. Drinks were good and strong. I recently went on Sunday and mannn when I tell you those chicken and waffles were good and the sangria I had was also tasty and refreshing. My friend had the blackened shrimp tacos and she said they were bussin'. I love this place. 10/10 read more

Sorry I wanted to give a higher rating. I had high hopes the food would be good but I'm sorry it was just ok. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo as well as the fish tacos. The gumbo was actually very good the spice was just right and the roux perfect. I wish I could say the same for the tacos. They were just ok. Welcome back to High School - The only reason I am giving Asiel's 3 stars is that the breakfast was half/way decent, albeit I substituted pancakes for bacon since I don't eat meat, and my eggs came out with the bacon on top of the eggs. When I asked the waitress why and to take them off, she looked at me in the weirdest way! Mind you, I am used to people not fully understanding what vegetarian means, especially in the south, but she (the waitress) pretty much avoided our table until I waived her over after 10 minutes of her avoided eye contact to ask about the pancakes I ordered, in lieu of the bacon. She said, "you ordered bacon?" Ugh. This all may seem picky, but I have a real problem with restaurants who rely entirely on inexperienced staff to run a Sunday morning service, or any service for that matter. I did see one "older" person who walked right by the gang of kids just sitting there, roaming around like zombies...at least they weren't on their phones. Probably won't go back as this is the second time I've noticed a lack of professionalism at this establishment. Very mediocre at best. read more

We drove around for an hour looking for a good place to eat . every place look mediocre and no cars in the parking lot .when we pulled up to Asiel's Restaurant the parking lot was 80% full here. My buddy looked at me and said we found the right place. The home cooked food here is excellent the menu is very big I was pretty amazed we couldn't make up our mind what we wanted to eat. We both had steaks and a salad and they were excellent and as we were eating people just kept coming and coming in and coming in. Neat little place. It overlooks Mammoth Lake which is a scuba park. There are shine great views of the lake where you can eat and watch the sunset. There are also bats that come out at night and scan the lake looking for a bug dinner. Interesting menu with everything from alligator bites to a donut burger. Everything sounded so good that we had trouble choosing. I got frito poor burger: amazing, messy, and very filling Hubby got the endless fried shrimp for only $12.95: loved them! Daughter got fried catfish and macaroni and cheese: mac was just ok but the fish was huge and delicious. Son got steak finger basket: he loved them We all ate until we hated ourselves. Haha I got a drink called strawberries and cream that was terrific! 100 proof strawberry moonshine and vanilla cream soda. Yum yum We wanted to have dessert but we were too stuffed. They have such things as fried snickers, fried twinkies, fried oreos, and something called a funnel cake sandwich. I'm guessing it's like an ice cream sandwich but with funnel cake. Arrived for Dinner on 11-10-2020 with five total guests. We were seated promptly and our order taken within minutes. I ordered the Catfish dinner and the catfish was piping hot, the fries were cold and the Cole Slaw was without taste. No problem! I Didn't need to eat the fries as I'm limiting myself on eating too much fried foods. I Salted and Peppered the Slaw and it was edible. I ordered their Happy Hour Texas "Rita"! WOW! Very very good. The service was Excellent and all the staff were extremely friendly. Everyone else at the table commented well on their Food. My wife had the Chicken Fried Steak and she commented that it was very good. My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. As a Culinary Trainer, I have trained personnel on how to provide superb cuisine and expert customer service. At the age of 73, I am now retired and enjoy being on the other side of the Apron. read more
