You know how people say, "Run, don't walk" to a great business? Well, I'm telling you the exact opposite run, don't walk AWAY from this place. I came in with dental insurance and a chipped tooth that needed a simple bonding. I clearly told them what I was there for. Of course, they started with a full X-ray and first-time exam (standard stuff), but then things got weird. A very well-dressed woman walks in not in scrubs, and starts telling me I need a deep cleaning before they can even touch my chipped tooth. She throws around things like "possible heart disease". The whole thing felt more like a sales pitch than a medical opinion. Honestly, if you're trying to be taken seriously in a healthcare setting, maybe dress like you're actually part of it not like you're there to close a car deal. Then comes the quote: $1200 for the deep cleaning with insurance. I was told insurance doesn't cover it. That sounded off, so I called my provider they said that's not true that they covered it . Insurance called the office asking for the paperwork to verify coverage. Aspen Dental refused to send it. It took multiple calls to finally get them to send what was needed, and sure enough, insurance confirmed it was covered. Did Aspen ever call me back? Nope. I ended up going somewhere else, had no problems, and guess what? The procedure was covered just like insurance said. Moral of the story: if you don't want to feel like just another dollar sign, go somewhere else. I have had good experiences with the Colonial office. Super easy to make an appointment because they usually have very soon available times or Saturdays. They may try to encourage extra services (like Invisalign). Their dentistry services are professional and effective. read more

Front desk was (loudly) reading my Social Security number to the insurance company over the phone with a room full of people in the lobby. When I objected, an employee came out beating his chest saying I was verbally abusing one of their employees and that they were cancelling my oral surgery. A few clients walked out behind me. I went to another dentist who willing to do the surgery last minute under the circumstances. Would not recommend this place in so many ways but most especially if you don't want to be a victim of identity theft. My experience as other Aspen Dentals have always been great. I use the Aspen Dental on N. Alafaya. I love it there. I have no problems with appointments or waiting. I am always seen on time with the exception of when they had 2 new patients that were having anxieties about being at a dentist office. The staff is very friendly, efficient and professional. I especially enjoyed having Alex taking care of me. He explained what he was doing and made sure I was comfortable (I used to be one who hated the dentist). He was professional and pleasant, it made my visit a happy one. The other staff, I can't remember all their names, were also pleasant, professional and funny. Don't waste your time, go elsewhere. Poor management. Poor communication, expensive costs, and a system that's constantly "down." I have been unable to get any information or book any next steps since my appointment in May. Initially their system were down and they advised they call me to confirm next steps. Since then I've called several times, visited the office (the office manager was out and I was told he was the only one who could assist). It's taken 2 months and lots of work on my end to track them done, just to be able to go somewhere else. Save your time and efforts. read more

Pros: lots of availability. Cons: I can now see why... Despite the fact that I asked for a general check-up/cleaning on the phone, when I got there, I was told I couldn't get a cleaning yet because they needed to decide "what level" of cleaning I needed. Never in my life have I heard of anything like that. They proceed to do x-rays, scans, etc. During the less than 5 minutes the dentist sees me, despite the fact that I do not have and have never had a cavity, she tells me my crooked teeth are causing decay, and writes me up for a specialized cleaning and aligners that cost over $8,000. Heck. No. She didn't ask about any concerns I had, or even my name. I understand that dentists make their money from kickbacks, but man, you expect it to feel less obvious. This dental office is a chain with a corporate call center. The call center does the scheduling but does not present reliable appointment times or services. My 10am teeth cleaning ended up being an 11am x-ray only visit. Additionally their system was down due to a recent security breach per my insurance provider. This dentist office is extremely unprofessional and so uncalled for. I went in on February 10th to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed. Everything was fine process went perfect. After leaving the office to pick up my pain medication, my pharmacy said they never received and prescription. So i decided to go home sleep off my anesthesia and go back to see if they finnaly got it. Once going again they still never received it from Aspen Dental so I called the office and they said they will try and send it out again. Went back and still once again the pharmacy said they never received it. At this point the office was closed and I had to go the whole day and night after getting all 4 teeth removed with no type of pain medication or antibiotics for any infection. Called the office 4 times this morning and am still getting the whole run around, not one person knows what's happening or where my medication is; I am still in excruciating pain. This is completely unprofessional and is so uncalled for. Will not be attending this dentist again in the future. read more

I went in one day with a toothache and found out I needed an entire mouthful of restorative work. Newly constructed building centrally located on Colonial. The efficient office staff handled every aspect of my treatment, including billing and referrals. Dr. Hernandez is, as she is fond of saying, "perfect." Do.not.go.here! I have never had such a horrible office experience. Every issue I have had, I have brought up with them, tried to call to resolve the situation. I have been asked if they can call me back several times, and they never do! Always running late, careless with patient's time... My first visit here was as a new patient, for x-rays and cleaning. My appointment was at 4:30pm and I was not seen until almost 5:00. They took the x-rays, but no cleaning. They said I had reschedule, because they only had one hygienist in the office. They asked me to pre-pay for my cleaning as I scheduled it, and charged me for fluoride when it is covered -$0- by my insurance. After leaving the office, and calling my insurance to confirm it should be $0, I called the office back to which they told me they would file a claim with my insurance for the $52 refund. They said they would call me to let me know it was filed - to which I received no call of confirmation. I called their office two days in a row to speak with the office manager, which I was asked if he could give me a call back - still never received that call! The kicker is, I also scheduled my wisdom teeth extraction with them. My first visit was bad, but I did not think it could get this worse. My apt was at 1:00pm. I arrived at 12:40. At 1:20p, they called a different patient back, to which I asked the front desk how much longer, and at that point, I was told they were over 1.5 hours behind (you couldn't inform patients of a major delay when they check in?!). So I waited. At 3:30pm, when they were finally ready for me, I was told I needed to get another x-ray done, but their machine was broken, so I had to go to the office in SoDo, over 20min away, get the scan and come back. I asked if the other office knew I was coming - "yes I am texting them now." Well, I got to that other office, and they didn't know I was coming, but I was the 3rd person they had sent there that day. That office took my scans, ensured they came out properly, and sent me back. Well, I walk in the original office, get pulled back and the oral surgeon tells me there is something wrong with their system and they are not able to view my scans - I will have to reschedule. It is now almost 5:00pm. I took off work to come in on this day. I was told I could not eat before, so my last meal was at 10pm the night before. Now they are telling me to reschedule, and impending it upon me as I tell them I want to cancel all appointments here. I got physically sick in the days following this day due to the stress and frustration I experienced. Now, I have cancelled my appointments with them, the cleaning and the surgery. I expected a full refund, as again, they made me pre-pay for my all my services. However, I did not receive a full refund!! ... I am beyond frustrated. When I called to inquire about why I did not receive my full refund, they told me it was because I owed over $300 for that scan I got done the day of my scheduled surgery. NO ONE informed me this extra scan was not part of what I pre-paid for, that it would NOT be covered by my insurance, and that I would owe for this. You made me pre-pay for everything, but you're going to scan me day-of, not tell me there's a charge and all of a sudden I owe $300? No one asked me to pay for that service before I left the building on that dreadful day. I did not authorize this payment, was informed I owed it, and they withheld funds that were paid for my surgery. Had I not cancelled my appointments, were they not going to charge me for it?! I cannot believe a business is run this way. I called the office again to ask about my refund, the man I spoke with said it was for the scan and my $5 office visit fee for whenever I visit them - $5 to go visit an office THEY sent me to because THEIR machine wasn't working, AND they weren't even able to view my scans afterwards!!. The office person I spoke with said something didn't seem to be adding up on his end, and he would call the 2nd office where I got the scan to figure it out. "I'll call you back around 2/3pm today" is what I was told...guess what, that was months ago and I never received a follow-up call. They continue to send me paper statements saying I owe them, yet they have already kept my money that they never refunded. Again, I cannot believe a business is run this way. I went for my annual check up (which i thought included cleaning) and it felt pretty rushed. the office is super nice and the technology is definitely advanced but thats why they try to charge you for random stuff. The doctor briefly explained what needed to be done for my teeth which was very general, she stated cleaning, 2 crowns, fillings, and wisdom teeth extraction. i have an HMO plan so i am able to view my exact copays for each procedure. When the treatment coordinator or whatever they are came to tell me my total for the services, he just provided me with a paper that stated $1,815. I was baffled because I knew my procedures would be pricey but I was not expecting that. I had to ask for a break down. $356 for deep cleaning, when w/ my insurance its $40 per quad. I called to ask them for a procedure code list (because they did not give me one) and saw that a part of my "gingivitis cleaning" was a $135 toothbrush! had i not asked for this, i would've never known i had paid for a tooth brush thats costs $80 or less at target. Definitely do not recommend unless you dont care about the up-charges, but definitely ask for a procedure code before paying or going through with any kind of procedure. i will be going for a second opinion and cleaning elsewhere. read more
