Her compassion, patience and understanding are beyond compare! When I first met her I had put adhesive in my dentures to get a soft line. I didn't know that you weren't supposed to use that he should when you geta soft liner put in. I did not only receive the softliner, I received an education as far as Dentures were concerned. Ann smiled ( did not laugh) and kind of rolled her eyes but with empathy. And I hear she was responsible for the beautiful Christmas tree that was in the office last year. She may be short in stature, but she's a force to be reckoned with with her knowledge of Dentistry. I also had the honor and privilege of meeting Norberto! I visited this office for the first time due to an area of discomfort. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Ryan Halbower was not positive. I found his approach to be quite rough, and his comments about my existing dental work came across as very critical and judgmental, which made me feel uncomfortable during the visit. At the end of the appointment, I was referred out without much explanation, which added to my frustration. My son has extreme fear of the dentist so has neglected his teeth and are now in extensive repair. Dr Ryan and staff were very rude, condescending and beyond unprofessional. Dr Ryan asked my son what was going on, asked what he should do and told my son that the only option was to pull all his teeth out. My son felt worse than when he went in. We were never given a copy of the treatment plan nor an itemized sheet of the charges for the visit. Staff and dentist were very rude and will never go back nor recommend Aspen Dental again. Working with Aspen Dental has been a nightmare. To begin with, the Dentist I saw was a Arrogant, self importantl Jerk, who would not listen to my wants. They did minor work on a bridge, which promptly fell out when I was on the way home. They have overbillled me and it is impossible to reach them. Horrible, don't waste your time. First initial appointment I had back in October. I was waiting over 45mins to be seen/have my scans done. Then they scheduled me 3 months out in January for their next available time for a filling and scheduled a routine cleaning as well for March...2 days before my filling apt they cancelled and told me i need to reschedule (mind you, you pay up front for this. So i paid back in October). I got a refund and did not reschedule here. Now fast forward to March for the routine cleaning. They called me last week to confirm my apt, which i did. Then fast forward to today, they call me 30 minutes prior to my appointment saying they need to cancel and reschedule due to the hygienist having an injury. Safe to say 3 strikes and you're out. Don't know where to start. I went to them because I thought with all of the insurance I had, I would be able to get more service. I have pretty bad teeth due to nervous grinding and the medications I take. I waited months for an appointment. They were overworked and understaffed. I had x-rays. I saw what I think was a dentist for about 5 to 10 minutes. She looked in my mouth and called all the issues to the assistant. She gave me a treatment plan going forward. I needed in her opinion 2 root canals, some teeth pulled, teeth filled and a partial. I am not a dentist, so I agreed. When I went back for my next appointment, I saw another dentist who seemed capable enough. He changed the treatment plan of the first dentist, so no partial was used. He didn't like that idea. Again, I am no dentist, so I concurred with him. I had 4 root canals that day. Some temporary partials were put in. I asked if I would be getting the cleaning, extractions, or fillings that day. He said no, they were too busy. There are side stories about me traveling out of state, having one of the temporary partials break. I went to an Aspen location in another state. I was apologized to for the bad job done in my mouth, and the Portage location being no help to them so they could help me. So I finally go in to get the crowns. The dentist was in such a hurry that when I told him two of the teeth were rubbing the lower teeth, he took a little grinding wheel and just went to town on them. One of them is so thin that I am just waiting for it to break. I asked if I was going to get my cleaning, fillings, or extractions and again, I was told no time. I have not been back. In the midst of all of this is the insurance . I was told all of this would be covered by one insurance or the other. But, they talked me into applying for something called a Genesis card. It is credit only used for Aspen. But they will swear they have nothing to do with this card. Anyway, I applied for $2000, and I see that the card is at $3000 and climbing!! I would like to share with you the procedure codes I received from one of my plans. Accepted fee  $737.00 Delta Dental pays $0.00 Your cost for this procedure $0.00 Procedure alert Benefits could not be determined because of insufficient, illegible, or missing primary coverage information. Please submit a new claim or pre-treatment estimate with an itemized copy of the denial and/or payment notification from the primary plan, upon receipt we will process the submitted service(s) in accordance with our processing guidelines. To prevent delays in processing, please do not attach a copy of this EOB to the new claim. (EX9ND) So, I am not supposed to pay anything until the job is done right. They have charged me for things not done, according to my plans, and I am looking into all of this and the Genesis card. I will pay them or straighten this all out as soon as they do their job correctly. I was charged for things not done, and things not covered should never have been done. I see someone from. Aspen saw my review. Doesn't it bother you, rep. For Aspen that Delta Dental told me on the phone and in the billing codes that the paperwork was so sloppy and such a mess that Delta covered nothing and told me to pay nothing until it was all untangled by Aspen. Aspen just decided to bill me instead. Also, I have another thing that came to mind while being treated there. They have a person who works there who was working with dental assistants in training. While he walked them through, he told them how he had never taken a dental course or stepped foot into a dental school. He learned everything "on the job." He had worked in a restaurant! It made me feel so warm and fuzzy when he came to do something in my mouth. I asked if a dentist should be measuring me for crowns and stuff. He told me the dentist was just too busy. read more

When I tried to get dental services with Aspen Dental, I had to ask them to accommodate my ADA disability. Instead of attempting to help me gain access, they asked me if I had insurance and then told me to call my dental insurance to ask them for suggestions where to get dental care. This is blatant discrimination against someone with a disability. All places of public accommodation are required to be accessible to people with disabilities, not tell me where else to go for care. I took this all the way up to the corporate level, and they refused to make any accommodations for my disability. They deserve no stars. Edited to add response to Cindy, S S. 5/27/2021: I spoke with the local manager, who spoke to the owner, the regional manager, and the corporate office. This is a systemic problem confirmed by the Aspen corporate office in Syracuse, New York, through all layers of Aspen Dental. Aspen Dental had every opportunity to correct this discrimination at every level of your organization, and you choose to continue to discriminate. Saying everyone should "feel" comfortable at Aspen Dental is gaslighting. This is a human rights, civil rights, and disability rights issue that you are now trying to minimize by framing it as an 'emotional' issue of someone not 'feeling' comfortable. I went due to bridge needing new post that broke. Started well I thought got X-rays put in room to get exam and hygienist was very rough. I jumped a few times and she just kept hurting and jabbing pick into my gums. Then an older lady with grey hair was rud. She said hey Buddy you should take better care of your teeth. Maybe I should but I was not her Buddy. Very unprofessional and would not recommend to my dog. Dentist didn't even follow up about how my visit went after weeks that I didn't call back for appointment, must be use to it.. I am a new, patient called frantic with a broken partial. Not only did I get seen right away, my partial was temporarily fixed, impressions were taken for a new one & absolutely everyone was kind, understanding, helpful & friendly. I was pleasantly surprised that the cost was below what I expected after insurance. The repair made while I waited was done very well & I can get back to life without dental embarrassment. I had a great experience at Aspen. It is a "no frills" practice but they are professional and the office is immaculate. The dental assistance was nice and knew what she was doing (took x-rays). I have never been so appalled by a dental service in my entire life. My husband had to have several teeth extracted in order to get a set of dentures. Five teeth were being pulled including a wisdom tooth the doctor who attempted to pull my husbands teeth broke every last tooth while trying to extract these teeth it was so so bad that another doctor had to be called in to finish this nightmare. After several xrays to make sure the teeth were indeed all out dentures were shoved in his mouth with no instructions what so ever after this disaster that took over two hours to complete. This was done on a Saturday we were happy that way he could have the week-end to recuperate wrong move my husband was sent home with dentures cutting his gums and that were to big and painful he had to go the whole week-end in pain . No one even did a follow-up call he could not get in until days later to have these dentures trimmed and to receive education on how to apply and care for these dentures. this was a horrible experience we will never return the office is also very dirty the floors were just plain dirty and the staff was not well trained some of the dental assistant's did not attend school I asked one man who was proud to say that he was a bartender and was trained on the job really??? The atmosphere at the office was non existent. Advice find a dentist before you need one that way you will not end up in this situation. very bad and poor service. read more

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY DENTAL SERVICES. If I could rate this place a solid 0 I would! For one, they make you pay for your services before you have them (cleaning, fillings, etc.), so that you cannot go somewhere else if you are unsatisfied with them. COMMITTED MALPRACTICE during my dental cleaning- I am highly allergic to Doxycycline, which is noted in my health record that the dentist and hygienist sees, and the scheduler did not take out Atridox (a Doxycycline antibiotic that is placed in your gum and dissolves over a course of 10 days) from my treatment plan despite telling her I am allergic to this medication and refuse to pay for it. So, during my cleaning, the hygienist started placing what she called a "periochip" into my gum, assuring me it had nothing to do with Doxycycline, in which a few hours later my gums began bleeding, I became horribly ill, and out came the Atridox. I called the office and told them what happened, they disregarded it and told me it was the mouth rinse that I had a reaction to, that they never put in the Atridox..which was not true. I NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK. Went back to the office due to a severe wisdom tooth infection which I thought was related to the Atridox incident, in which they told me they did put in the Atridox-told me "sorry", sorry?! I could have literally died if this medication did not fall out on it's own! And told me they would extract my tooth for free since they should have never put in the Atridox. They aggressively removed my tooth, insisted on having emergency extraction even though he (the dentist) would not treat the infection beforehand, gave me antibiotics after the extraction will no pain relievers in which I got thrush and severe complications. The dentist is rude, benign, and does not care about his patients. I tried to get my money back for my fillings to go to a different dentistry after these horrible incidents and was told I could not get my money back. Was rude to me when I paid for 2 fillings and he only wanted to do one that day and wanted to reschedule, huffed out of the room, and came back 10 minutes later and aggressively filled my teeth. I left this office crying on several occasions. I have NEVER had worse service in my entire life from ANY medical professional! I would rather pay out of pocket for any dental service anywhere else than go here, and I have BCBS health insurance. I am currently looking into a Malpractice lawyer, that is how horrible this dentistry is. I hope this helps! read more

I found the staff to be highly standoffish when asking for clarification and alignment on services to be provided. During X-rays when I asked to use a smaller bite wing the hygienist became argumentative and refused to get different equipment causing significant discomfort during the procedure. The dentist barely checked inside my mouth in the 30 seconds that he was at my chair. My insurance doesn't have many options for in-network dentists, but since this is a nation-wide chain and is near the mall I figured that it would be fine. Unfortunately this is the used car dealership approach to dental care. I encourage you to read reviews of other Aspen Dental locations in larger cities. Do not schedule an appointment here and actually expect anyone to work on your teeth. My appointment began auspiciously with x-rays. Then I waited for 20-30 minutes until a doctor came in to go over them with me. He told me that I had no cavities and that my dental health overall was fine, and that the hygienest would be in in a minute. So far so good. Hygienest comes in 25 minutes later and evaluates my gums. Everything looks fine, just some plaque and a little gum inflammation. He says it will probably take two visits to clean everything, which disappoints me, and says that he will be right back. I assume that he will be right back to start the cleaning and that I will have one followup visit to make. Another 25 minute wait and a lady comes in who is the financial specialist. She takes me into an office and says she is there to schedule my course of care and to talk about insurance coverage. This is when I start getting very annoyed. They want to put me on a "gum health program" which will require 2-3 visits and that will involve some "take home products". One of these products is an electric toothbrush that is sitting on her desk. She spends a couple minutes talking about the fantastic benefits of this toothbrush which is a great investment in my health, but if I really want to I can remove it from the program because it is $150.00. Before she can go into the spiel about more "take home products" I interrupt her and say I am disappointed that my cleaning appointment will not involve any actual cleaning. Apparently that is how their business model works. The employees were all professional and friendly enough, and this may be an acceptable choice if it is the only place your insurance will cover, but I took my x-rays and made an appointment at an out-of-network private practice. read more

I called regarding a chipped tooth (an actual emergency) and was told they couldn't fit me in for several weeks. That is not okay for an emergency situation! I had the pleasure of taking an elderly woman here to get her lower plate repaired after she had dropped it. We left it over night as it wouldn't be done until later in the day. They called 20 minutes after we left to set the appointment for the following day as the lab personnel were out to lunch. When we arrived both days we were met by the nicest receptionist's. The technicians in the back were so kind to my friend making sure she understood everything, made sure she was happy with the repair, and then she handed them a second plate. It was brand new and she was never able to wear it for 7 years. In 20 minutes they had her new plate she bought in Tennessee 7 years earlier completely and correctly fitted properly to her mouth. They then told her she didn't owe a dime as her insurance paid for the total cost of the repairs! She is so tickled, all the way home she told me everything she was going to eat when she got home! I wish there was an option for zero stars. I have been here twice, the first time I waited about 30 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start and the dentist who saw me was pretty rude, but not unbearable. I had a cracked filling that had been replaced and was still bothering me, so it was an "emergency appointment" and I didn't make too big of a deal about the service/timeliness since they saw me just a few days after calling (I was a new patient too). So they "fixed" the problem and I went on my way. The office manager (Deidre I think) was even really helpful - she used a coupon so I wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket and set me up for my next cleaning. Fast forward six months to today. I go in for a cleaning with some guy named Chad I think. He gives a bad vibe from the beginning - when he calls my name (20 minutes late) he doesn't smile or say hi or anything. Whatever, maybe he's having a bad day. I get started and immediately he starts critiquing my teeth, which is annoying, but I guess that's what dentists are supposed to do. So because I have SOOO MUCH buildup on my teeth (which is BS, but whatever) he uses a special vibrating pick tool thing for in between my teeth. It feels fine at first until he starts scraping so hard I can taste the blood from my gums. I raise my hand and tell him it hurts and he just goes, "Oh yeah, it's not gonna feel good, but you'll be glad you did it". I let him do a few more spots until I jerk away again, only to have him grip my jaw with his free hand so hard that I physically can't move away. I feel like throwing up from the blood at this point and my body is shaking. I start to cry. Like real, big streams of tears down both cheeks. And he keeps going. Maybe I haven't been taking the best care of my teeth. Maybe there was some buildup. Yes, I know that SOME bleeding is normal/okay when you're getting dental work done. But I was in severe physical pain and I was being restrained. I don't think this is ethical by anyone's standards. So anyway, he keeps doing this for awhile, and he's finally done with the pick part. He then does a snide, "You said you haven't been to the dentist in 6 months, it looks more like 3-4 years". Umm. First of all: not true. I brush every day with an electric tooth brush and floss at least a few times a week. Every dentist I have been to says I have beautiful teeth, in fact there was a point when I had no insurance and hadn't been in over a year and the dentist STILL said I did a good job of taking care of them. Second of all: that is rude statement even if it was true and just seems extremely unprofessional. Then he takes out the little air hose thing and gets ready to polish. I have a few sensitive spots (the tooth that had the cracked filling has been worked on so much so now it's extremely sensitive) and the air was bothering it. So I told him. What is his response? "So you just don't want me to polish?"... Not "Oh, I can turn the air down" or "Let's try a different angle" like EVERY OTHER DENTIST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO HAS SAID. So I tell him no, rip the bib thing off, grab my stuff and leave. I then cry in my car for about 20 minutes while examining the huge welts and open sores he has left in my mouth. I couldn't make this stuff up. Most unprofessional experience of my life. I just called the Customer Satisfaction line and spoke with a really kind lady, who is passing my story along to the office manager. I am hoping this "hygienist" gets at the very least, a very severe talking to. I work in customer service and dentistry is a SERVICE done to PAYING customers. My first and only appointment, everyone that treated me acted like it was their first day out of dental training. From the person that spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out how to do my xrays, to the person that finally looked in my mouth. I waited for over an hour in the chair to have a Dentist? come in to look at my mouth for 2 minutes and say I don't have gum disease and to go wait some more to set up my actual check up/cleaning for another day. I have never talked to someone that has had a positive experience coming here, usually people are stuck going because of their insurance. Upgrade your insurance, and spend a smidge more to go to a real dentist instead of a place trying to upsell you on services. read more

My wife and I were patients for years. She developed an infection, they prescribed antibiotics and pain meds. She had a reaction to the pain meds, i called the dentist for help. They never returned a call. Even after two days no call. She needed a root canal, i asked for a referral to an oral surgeon....they never sent it. Assembly line medicine!! read more

I went here two years ago to look at getting dentures. I remember my experience quite clearly. I scheduled the appointment, for them to do exams and look at my mouth and see what denture plan suits me best. Came inside the building, the receptionist at the front desk never bothered to look up or even say hello. Whatever, so I sat down and waited. After 15 minutes past my appointment I got up and spoke to the receptionist, she ignored me twice, after trying to get her attention, she was on her cell phone talking, the third time she pauses her call and claims I'm being rude interrupting her phone call and the dentist will see me when he is available, so I can either wait or leave. I decided to wait some more, the dentist ended up coming 40 minutes after my appointment had started. He said his next paintent after me is already here, so they led me to a room in the back, which was pretty filthy. Paint cans laying around, there was a coffee machine with cobwebs on it that looked like a prop out of the munsters. They finally saw me and did my xrays and exams, I asked about why it took so long, they said that since I was late and wasted their time, they would waste mine (I wasn't late, it was their fault) they finished the xrays and gave me an exam, the lady took out a mouth mirror, she barely placed the mirror in my mouth, and immediately exclaimed I had a bacterial fungus in my mouth and they cannot work on me. So they end up writing me a prescription to treat the fungus and send me on my way. They told me that my xrays and exams were free and I would not be charged. I end up going to the pharmacy, and they checked the prescription with them, turns out Aspen never did send in a request for a prescription, the note they gave me was no good. The next day I ended up going to my family denistry (who doesn't do dentures) and they checked out my mouth, they said the white spots are actually scars in my mouth, from having my teeth pulled, its not a fungus infection at all. They asked who told me that and I said Aspen Dental and they said they have heard plenty of complaints about them. A few weeks later I end up getting a bill in the mail from Aspen Dental for $50 for my xrays and exams. I call them up and they tell me that since I was late to the appointment they decided to charge me for the xrays and exams. I started to dispute the bill with the person who called me and they hung up on me. I never paid the bill and after that I have not heard a peep from Aspen Dental. I figure it was just an intimidation tactic to get money out of me. I ended up going to a place called Affordable Dentures. Great customer service, and very friendly and hospitable. And unlike some dentist's they actually listen and care. read more

Would not recommend, unless you like waiting 45 minutes for an appointment you had scheduled and watching other people who didn't have an appointment go ahead of you... when I asked the receptionist why other people we're going ahead of me she said it was because "they were setting up my x-rays" and that it was "out of her control". Which in my opinion is very unprofessional. Also, I was in for a teeth cleaning and could have been started with that if they were behind on the x-ray machine. I could understand being behind 20-25 minutes maximum for somebody with an appointment but when people are walking in and getting seen before someone with an appointment that's just unacceptable. This is the worst dental office I've ever been to. They called me 4 times for the same info and again the same day of my appointment for the same info again, when I was driving there. Then she said we'll see you tomorrow for your appointment. What a joke they are!!! When I got there they refused to do any work on me because I had a positive TB test & had been on steroids for poison ivy. They had to have my doctors approval of safety before doing any type of work on me. What a joke!!! They never called me with that approval and I don't believe they EVER tried to contact my doctor. I would never tell anyone that this would be a great place to go, but I would tell them if you want them run around and be asked the same question over and over because the office people can't keep their paperwork straight, yes go there. read more

I went to Aspen for the first time yesterday and just received an email from them that begins, "We're so glad that you're satisfied with the care that you'e [sic] received at Aspen Dental and want to thank you for agreeing to share your feedback online." I wasn't satisfied with the care that I received and at no point did I agree to share my feedback online. But since y'all insist.... Aspen will not perform a tooth cleaning on the first visit. Instead, they give you a free assessment which sounds nice but really just culminates with a forced meeting with--wait for it--an office manager. This office manager presents an oh so important and oh so expensive recommended course of treatment that includes prices that are above the industry average. The office manager aggressively tries to sell this treatment plan to you using scare tactics and will stop at nothing to get you to agree to follow-up appointments...because they know that if you actually take time to think about what this person is saying you'll realize that it's totally bonkers. While most dentist give you a complimentary toothbrush, Aspen aggressively tries to sell you an overpriced electric one that they get a kick-back for pushing. When I am trusting someone with my health, I do not want them to try to sell me something or push an agenda. Aspen is a company that manipulates their customers and does not actually listen to their wishes. Thanks for putting words in my mouth with your error-laden email. This place is the biggest joke in the dentistry profession. They lure you in by very deceiving ads. The majority of the people that work there are untrained and uneducated, or at least that is how they present themselves. Plan on a long appointment date just to get initiately seen by a dentist, then you will have to wait a couple more weeks for any work to proceed. NOT FINISHED YET..... then you will have to come back for the final fitting, (sure, good luck on that). I suggest that you look up a neighborhood dentist. Chances are they will be more professional, more reliable and overall, more sensitive to you as a person. NOTE: Aspen is NOT the cheapest by any means. And if you have an emergency, DO NOT CALL ASPEN. They advertise it, but they DO NOT practice it. read more

I had a good experience. I made an appointment for a tooth extraction. I was delighted that being a first timer my consultation and x-rays were free. I went in and was seen and worked on all really quickly. I didn't wait around at all. The only thing that made my experience 4 stars instead of 5 is that it takes awhile to make an appointment. I had to wait 3weeks to be seen and the follow up to have my tooth extracted is over a month away. :/ read more
