I of course, said that I just wanted the extraction. I have good insurance, but even after insurance they charged me $375 out of pocket to remove a tooth that literally was falling out of its socket. Then to add insult to injury a month later I got a bill for another $168. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS!!!! I'll go to a back yard mechanic next time before I set foot in ANY Aspen Dental location. The day of surgery, a few hours before, I received a call cancelling the surgery with the reason given is that he is autistic. When I asked why they even made an appointment, I was told, and this is a direct quote "we didn't know." If you refuse to treat autistic people, why enroll in the panel that autistic people use? They were given all of his health information upfront. The autism was not a surprise, so yes they did know. Furthermore, balance billing Medicaid patients is illegal. I can't speak to quality of care, because care was refused.

After reading the reviews I felt obligated to voice my opinions of my first experience at Aspen. I was able to been seen right away, instead of having to schedule a month out or more like most local dentist offices. I asked for a female dentist, as the males I have had in the past were the same ones with the attributes I mentioned above. My first visit I was full of anxiety, nervous, etc. Then I found out that my dentist that day would be a male as no females were on duty. I wasn't happy at first, very nervous, but was assured that he was awesome. Let me assure you, Dr. Kurt Losier is in fact AWESOME. Honestly, I would prefer him in the future. So personable, caring, and an expert in his field. As far as billing/cost, if you don't ask questions that's your own fault. Yes, I was presented with a rather large quote on what I needed done, but when I stated I couldn't afford that, the dentist and the finance rep were able to adjust to what was needed most as far as procedures, then I was informed of an insurance they offered that cost me only $99 a year, but ended up saving me $805 off my bill. Totally worth it. Needless to say, we got to a reasonable agreeable amount. The staff are all very friendly and made this first visit in over 15 years for me, the best I can remember ever having. You don't have to agree to anything unless you chose. You are given a breakdown of what the dentist suggests needs done, but you are also given choices, and information like I was, on addtional insurance if you have none or if your current insurance has ample coverage, like mine. As far as the poor reviews, I beleive they are such due to lack of knowledge and persistence on the writer's end. So if you aren't sure, take my advice and at least give them a try.
