I arrived to my appointment and checked in 20 minutes early. Receptionists (all sitting at the desk) proceeded to carry on a personal conversation for a few minutes while I stood there waiting to check in. Finally checked in and sat down to wait. I began to watch people walk in and get called back, while I am still sitting there waiting. I waited another 30 minutes. I finally went up to the receptionist and asked if they forgot about me. She proceeds to tell me that the Dr is running behind, and I will be called back shortly. I asked her why I wasnt notified of this and given the choice to wait or reschedule. She couldn't give me an answer. I told her I was leaving and NOT rescheduling, and the office/staff are very unprofessional. I received a blank stare. My guess is while carrying on their personal conversation, I was not checked in and "Dr is running late" was an excuse. If it was an excuse, be professional and own your mistake. I have been to two locations, and both are lacking in professionalism and good customer service. I will not be recommending Aspen Dental and in fact encouraging you run. Run as fast as you can and never second guess your decision!! read more

If you had asked me a week ago, I'd have given them 3 or 4 stars. I'm supposed to have an appointment 9/3 for a cleaning and to discuss the issues I'm having with the partial plates I got back in December and which have never fit properly (I've reported this to them multiple times with ZERO response). They called last week to confirm the appointment. They call today to inform me that, although the dental insurance their company provides is the same as what I have, they no longer accept it as payment. What the heck Aspen??? read more

I was sold on Aspen when we moved to Michigan because it appeared they could handle almost all of our dental needs. Here is what I experienced: Aspen cannot do root canals on molars. Aspen has emergency hours at 8 AM although I was not told this when I was recently put on a "waiting list" for a tooth ache. I found it out from another Aspen patient. It was a MONTH before I found this out. Meanwhile, I was in PAIN!! I never did receive a call from being on the "waiting list". The desk person tried to charge me 3 times for charges I didn't owe. This is AFTER I explained AGAIN that I have insurance. I had been a patient there for six YEARS!! One of the business people who you are told to meet with to discuss costs, told me there is a difference in price for fillings that last a couple of years verses fillings that last about five years. SERIOUSLY???? A few years ago, I had a root canal done on a non molar. It was less than a good experience!!! Creepy AND painful!! SO awful that I recently almost opted to have a tooth pulled rather than a root canal. Thank GOD I contacted Endodontist David Selis in Grand Rapids. He got me in IMMEDIATELY!!! I was told the cost WITH my insurance BEFORE I arrived. The minor pain I felt was from the numbing. That's IT!! 20 minutes later, the root canal and temporary filling was DONE!! GO to Dr. Selis if you need a root canal. GO!!!!! RUN from Aspen Dental. RUN!! RUN!!! RUN!!! AWAY!!!!!! GET a REAL dentist!!! read more

They sent my account to collections for the whole $5000, they say is my bill, which my insurance paid on, plus the $ 500 I paid out of pocket. I still don't have my permanent dentures, because they said, I need to pay $ 3000 out of pocket. So why did they send my bill to collections for $5000, when $ 2000 thousand of that was already paid and they didn't finish the job. I hope I can find another dentist before my temporary top denture breaks or something. Like I said, my bottom denture don't fit, so I can't wear that one. Never again. read more

*problem has been solved, this is my original comment with 1 star rating* "They will quote you a price and have you pay it upfront, they trick you into thinking that quoted price is what you will pay. Once they con you into getting the procedure done they will hit you with a bill almost twice the quoted price you already paid. They blame the insurance but these scam artist knew exactly what the were doing. Do not even step foot in the door." *edit* After having a conversation with the VERY helpful employee that commented on this review, she was able to figure out the error that led to us being charged the extra amount. We went from owing 450 to getting a refund of 48$. Im very happy with the follow up that I got, my problem has been solved and I now know it was a billing error. I no longer think Aspen Dental is trying to rip you off, it just seemed like it when the original employee I talked to brushed me off and blamed insurance. Im going from 1 to 3 stars, the lady who helped me deserves 5, but the lady I talked to originally wouldn't even bother looking at the situation and dismissed me as if I just didn't want to pay my bill. read more

Did a terrible job making my flipper. Asked for a refund after 2 months so I could go to another dentist that knows how to make one. No can't get my money back even though they guarantee everything. Aspen Dental in Battle Creek, Mi is an awful place. They have to have their money before they will do anything for you. Then it takes months to get your temporary dentures and then months again before you can get back into get them to get them adjusted even thou they are impossible to wear. I have been trying to get my new set of dentures for 3 months now and I still don't have them! I would not recommend them to anyone.. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was "seen" for a painful toothache on December 29th. Supposedly my first visit was free. Then I got the whole spiel about how I needed 4 teeth replaced, and that someone would call me back by 6pm with an estimate. Never happened. I stopped back at about 4:30 the next day, was told rudely they were understaffed, their insurance person wasn't in and they "couldn't find me". They assured me said person would call on Monday. Really? I'm supposed to live through a toothache for FIVE days? It's past closing on Tuesday, and not a peep. Take their advice- they're understaffed. Don't go there! read more

Should be zero stars. Made an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. They would not clean my teeth unless i made an agreement with them for another expensive and unneeded procedure. Upsell, upsell, and then just a litt!e more upsell. Aspen Dental did great in fitting my dentures. But my upper broke and when I called to request an immediate appointment I was told they were booked solid for a month. I could try coming in at 8AM, and if I was the first or only person there, they would try to fit me in. Their on-hold link kept promising prompt courteous service for emergencies, but the humans were not helpful. I'm going to another office. read more

I've never had to work so hard to get a dental office to take my money. Their customer service is lacking. I went in for my first appointment on Jan 26th. Here is it April 6th and I still can't get an appointment to get the work done that I need or get them to return phone calls when I ask about issues. I was expecting a cleaning for my first visit, but all I got was an exam. They said I needed thousands of dollars worth of procedures. I provided info for my primary dental insurer and my secondary insurer. A month went by and I didn't hear anything. I contacted them and the person on the phone said they were busy and she'd call me back later. Never got a call back. I called again. This time I found out that they submitted my claim through my secondary insurance. The person said they would submit again through my primary insurer and call me back later that week. I never got a call back. Weeks went by again. I called again. The person said she would look into why my claims were being held up and call me back. This time I did get a call saying she still wasn't sure what the issue was, but that she would call again the next day. Never got a call back. I've had this insurance for about 6 years. It's never taken longer than 3 weeks to get a claim approved with my previous dentist. I don't know what the malfunction is with Aspen Dental, but I've given up. I'm going to make a special trip to my old dentist. I won't recommend Aspen Dental to anyone, especially veterans. read more

I went in to have my teeth checked out, needing partial dentures. Also needed preventative care. And another tooth pulled!!! After insurance my part was 940.00 which I was going to have it ALL done. I called for my first appointment and that number went up 250.00!!!! And I was told that didn't include the tooth I needed pulled, so, it was going to be double what I was quoted!!! Never will I set foot in there again!!!! And now I find out that they dismissed a bad tooth under s crown!!! It broke off!! I should sue em!!! read more

This is the worst place ever! They are scammers! First off they made my husband pay $250.00 up front. They said he needed things done that I don't think was necessary, because he had just been to his regular dentist and he didn't say he had any of these problems they claimed he had. After the insurance paid, it showed they owed us back $36.00, so then they bill us $18.80. I sent them all the explanation of benefits and they still say we owe the $18.80! They did 2 cleanings in a period of 2 months. Our insurance says we are not responsible for the 2nd cleaning and they say we owe it! NOT HAPPY!!! DO NOT GO THERE! read more

I had all my teeth pulled because they were rotting out after my cancer surgery. The dentist, Dr Joseph and lab technician, dental hygienist and office manager, and the office girls in front were great! They made me feel important, relaxed and comfortable! I haven't been to the dentist in a long, long time and they made me feel like they cared about my situation. They were all very professional and friendly. They never said one negative thing to me, they just said they would take care of me and that they are supporting me in the whole process of getting my dentures done right and fitting right. Over the next six months I will be there a lot and they said they will be there whenever I need them. The doctor said to just call anytime and she would call me back ASAP. I highly recommend this place, I felt like I mattered to them. That they really cared. Looking forward to going though this long process with them. read more

I started going to them a few years ago when I need to get partial dentures. They pulled my teeth leaving some of the tooth in my gums. Had to do to an oral surgeon to have it removed. The final straw was today when I got a full warranty on my dentures they wanted to charge my $340 to realign them AND they refused to do a filling on my tooth. They said they would only do a crown. They are HORRIBLE!! Waste of time and money not to mention all the pain I have had. DO NOT GO TO THEM!! All they care about it making $$. read more

I'm going to be blunt and really honest since they won't even bother to return calls now. It's been three years since I started this process with them and neither the upper or lower fit, nor have they ever. First they billed everything the very same day they laid out the treatment plan costing me WAY more out of pocket than I should have had to pay. They didn't listen when I said that one of the implants was infected, they moved a completely different implant instead. It wasn't long after I ended up having to have an oral surgeon remove the dead bone that was killed by the infection they didn't listen about. They refused and still refuse to correct the issue. The current owner offered to refund a very small portion of the close to $6,000.00 I had to pay out of pocket, if I agreed to sign a gag order. Not going to happen! If I can save anyone from this hellish process, forget the money. Do not go here no matter what. There are plenty of other dentists around Battle Creek that do quality work and actually care about people. The fact that these people refuse to even return a phone call is completely ridiculous. read more

Aspen Dental is only out to make a buck and could care less if they traumatize a 6 year old. 1st they refuse to see her at age 4 and refer me to a pediatric dentist. Then when we have a dental emergency they refuse to refer her back to the dentist they sent is to and have written referrals to for 2 years. They wanted the money from the emergency but wouldn't clean her teeth! They were willing to let her wait or make her see a stranger for this procedure. Went in due to pain from broken tooth. Went through a thorough exam in which a variety of options were discussed (including a special $135 toothbrush). We agreed that the presenting issue required a root canal and crown. I was told they would consult with my insurance and let me know what my "TREATMENT PLAN" would cost and was given a patient financial responsibility statement in excess of $5000 before insurance. I never received a call and my root canal was not scheduled despite the continuing pain and discomfort. Today I called multiple times and was routed through a central call center.....after 45 minutes and several disconnects I finally talked to a person in the Battle Creek office . She was rude and inconsiderate showing no concern for my situation. After explaining my frustration with their failure to follow through on their plan to call, I was given a price for the root canal and I asked to schedule the appointment. She was unable or unwilling to schedule an appointment to address my presenting issue (constant pain). Her entire demeanor focused on upsell of a total package I have insurance and the financial wherewithall to pay for the treatment but am uncomfortable with the focus on selling services vs providing treatment. The professional staff gave me initial confidence, but the post exam process was horrendous. I cannot imagine doing treatment with any dentist whose support system is so insensitive to patient needs. read more

I took great pains to be crystal clear about this because I was making a 3 1/2 hour drive to Battle Creek FROM CHICAGO, based solely on that information, to make a Saturday morning appointment because of the pain. The woman on the phone, who was NOT in Battle Creek but a call center or corporate office (I asked), knew these were specifically and fully the only reasons I was making this appointment and traveling so far. Neither the treatment nor the "flexible payment arrangements" happened. The friendly office manager's response? "Welllll, they shouldn't have told you that." I left with a $30 bottle of antibiotic mouthwash and the same toothache as when I arrived. After driving from Chicago. Isn't that wonderful? Beyond this absurdity, the post-X Ray exam was more of a brief consultation. It was useful for the one specific diagnosis, but as for the rest of my teeth: cursory at best. I left not knowing whether I had other cavities or impending issues. Seems that the free exam was basically utilized as a means to funnel me into their financing office saddled with the fresh information that I'd need a $2,300 root canal. Obviously, I can't speak to the quality of their actual service. But as I left, I felt as though I had visited a High-Rate Dental Credit Mill for the poor & uninsured. They "work directly with your insurance company to make sure you get the care you need at a price you can afford" is a complete and utter lie. Recently I was attempting to reconcile a charge that was not covered by my insurance which only needed copies of an x-ray and office notes to suport the procedures performed. I came to find that Aspen had not even attempted to contact my insurance provider, ever. The reception staff at Aspen are extremely rude, inconsiderate and downright childish. Especially their manager Katie who had hung up on me multiple times and claimed I hung up on her. Zero people skills. They refused to allow me to speak to their superiors and never apologized for their behavior. Do yourself a favor and never do business with this shady company. read more

The dentists here suck. I actually had one with a huge mop of hair on his head who would make fun of my saliva while he was doing dental work. Like seriously? You're a dentist and my mouth is numb. He was always talking to the assistant, more concerned about their weekend plans or what female celebrities he thought were hot. That just makes the patient uneasy. After a while, I started to realize this guy was not sticking to the dental plan. I came in with all this pain and instead of addressing that, he decided I needed a bunch of fillings done. Loooong waiting times. Then they switched me to some other Indian doctor without telling me. This guy was even worse. I asked him about the pain and he was tapping on my tooth with a large metal tool that looked like a nut cracker. Seriously? I don't want broken teeth. Then he said if he did a root canal, he'd probably break something off in my root, but he could try if I wanted. UM NO. That was the last time I ever went there. They recommended the worst endodontist/some guy who says he is an endodontist (does root canals). NO! Just stay away! I found Dr Dickerson afterwards and she is such an awesome Dentist. Worst !! I went there because i was in alot of pain they told me that I needed a root canal and that they would recommend me to someone else to do the procedure, then they told me that they would finish the filling for me but they also wouldn't give me the antibiotics or pain meds until I signed up for there cleaning which included two cleaning sessions a electronic toothbrush and the filling for 650.00 or so, so considering I needed the medication and it didn't seem so bad of a deal considering I get everything done and get a toothbrush. I should have just dealt with the pain and walked out !! I went back for the cleaning they injected something into my tooth telling me it's to strengthen my gums but guess what it started eating at my gums and now instead of not only having the pain in the tooth that I went there for in the first place I now have pain on my other side I was miserable they made me worse overall so I called the manager and he told me that there is no way that I was having the symptoms I told him about and that I was overall wrong worst business manager I have ever dealt with. I made an appointment with another dentist and she took pics of the damage and it was worse then I thought.so now I'm in the process of getting my money back. Which in michigan is much more of a process then it should be, they conned me out of my money and wont even take responsibility for there mess up. read more

I was very satisfied with Aspen. I went to see my normal dentist and a physician to try and diagnose pain I had in the left region of my mouth and they were both unsuccessful; however, at Aspen, they diagnosed the issue AND took care of it the very next day. Doctor Wissam Kamouni is very thourough and to the point. The customer service was excellent as well. One of the best dentistry teams I've encountered. read more

It took longer than I wished to get in (appointment), but when I did, the service was very good. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions. I was a bit disappointed when I learned I'd have to wait a week (!) to actually get my problem taking care of. However, when I arrived home, a call was waiting for me to inform me that I could return at 8AM the NEXT day, hooray. Upon my return, again all my questions were answered and the actual procedure took less then 10 minutes. The pain was minimal and the results have been good so far. I would recommend them for basic dental work. Regarding dentures, etc., have not looked into other businesses, but thought Aspen was very expensive just for a partial (over $2000), don't know compares yet. read more

Went for dentures, the person that did the impressions bitched the whole time about how they are packing too many patients at a time. The first attempted she physically was hurting my lower gums as the mold was too small. I kept telling her, almost cryng but she kept saying 10 more seconds, I would really like to sit her down and let her know how it felt. After the 3rd time, finally did it right with a little help from someone else. So then they schedule me for the next apppointment a week later. Wax impressions, which is fine but now no appointment for 2 more weeks, then they said 10 days after that I should get them. I have to say I think in the long run they will do a good job but this is a long time to have to wait for them, when most dentists have a same day service. And the first person needs to get a different job. I have been looking for a yr and my constomer service is better then hers will ever be. read more
