Had another amazing year with Sarah at the Assateague Crab House! The happy hour is the best in Ocean city hands down! The food comes out extremely fast and the patio setting is great if you have a dog with you.

Feast for 2. Lobster, clams, crabs, corn on the cob, cole slaw. Was perfect for two adults

The food is always top notch. It's tasty and well plated. We love their iced tea but be sure for ask for extra ice because it's always being brewed and the ice melts fast. Seafood at its best for the price. We come back often.

I took my dad to Assateague Crab House for Father's Day. It was a very nice spot, close to our campground in Berlin. We were lucky to find a table as soon as we walked in. We were greeted by the front lady, and we had a very welcoming and friendly server. It was very quiet for a Sunday, with a very laid-back atmosphere. We started with appetizers: the crab dip was very tasty in a warm, perfectly baked bread bowl. The raw oysters were large and super fresh. I have to say the calamari was overcooked and very crispy, almost hard to taste. We ordered the dinner for two with a lobster, which was amazing! The grilled scallops with mashed potatoes and green beans were very tasty and perfectly cooked.

Not really sure why the rating here is as low as it is. Maybe during the season, they are busier, I'm not sure. We had a meal tonight that was fabulous! Started with the crab dip which was delicious. It was served in crunchy sourdough bread bowl along with some water crackers. Creamy and topped with some cheddar cheese, this was fabulous! I ordered the seafood platter. I'm not a fish eater, but I usually try it to see if I've changed my mind, because preparation can be everything. Well, the preparation was wonderful! Smelled no fish, tasted no fish. It was seasoned perfectly and buttery. Loved the scallops, shrimp and crabcake which I knew I would love! Hubby ordered the trio which was 3 hard crabs, a nice lobster and half of a snow crab. He devoured everything. He reported it was cooked very well and seasoned well. Came with an ear of corn. Our server was Val. She took AMAZING care of us. We had a cream crush (delicious!) and a grapefruit crush (ditto!). Loved the crabhouse atmosphere and the staff is uber pleasant! We remember this on our next camping trip to Assateague. Love particularly that it's away from the crowds!

We ordered the camper's carry out special for $140 which is supposed to include a dozen large crabs. The ones pictured were the largest of the bunch. These are small crabs so we got swindled out of at least $50-70. And their corn tasted weird.

First time visiting 5/22 & it was very good. 3 of us did the feast & one had the seafood platter. Crabs were okay, it's still early. Corn was excellent!! Chicken was okay, flavor was good but it was a little too pink for us on the inside. Hush puppies were delicious. Coleslaw so so. Overall a good experience & would definitely come back & recommend. Our server Meadow was terrific

Wasn't sure whether to rate 3 or 4 stars. We came here for a special bday dinner. Hubs got the broiled seafood platter and I got some combo with lobster, crabs, and crab legs. The broiled seafood was pretty bland. Tasted like it was pulled out of the freezer and lightly steamed. The shrimp and broiled filet were mushy. It was overall underwhelming for a restaurant that specializes in seafood. The lobster was delicious, but the crab legs and blue claws were overcooked. Nothing was super terrible so we didn't say anything, but it wasn't a place we would run back to. Also, maybe not important but it might help others with disabilities or extra junk in the trunk: they have the absolute most uncomfortable metal chairs. I was looking around and the only people that fit in them without the metal digging into their sides were children.

Perfect location. Lots of parking! Staff was pretty quick to get our meal sorted out. The pricing is pretty on par with other restaurants similar to this one. The kids meals worked out for my kiddos The cream of crab was pretty good. It had great flavor and a sprinkle of old bay on the top. Crab cake was a little on the small side, good flavor, nice chunk crab meat with a little filling. The green beans were savory and the applesauce hit the spot. Service was a tad slow. But, I think it was because of staffing issues. We were there later afternoon before the dinner rush. The manager did come up and make sure all was going well.

Great for an end-of-season meal, with plenty of walk-in availability and extra meaty crabs before the restaurant's season closing in October. The crab dip was rich and creamy, and the seafood platter for two could have easily fed three. The blue crabs and clams were easily the best part of the meal - sweet and flavorful, and seasoned just right. The seafood dinner for two also comes with snow crab legs (just fine - maybe opt for the lobster tail instead), sides (your standard corn and cole slaw), and a bunch of tasty jumbo shrimp to slather in your choice of butter/cocktail sauce/old bay or all of the above. The restaurant is clearly understaffed in the off-season, but food and service were still great overall. I'll definitely be back for the next season reopening in May!

Bar area, happy hour 2-5 two for one drinks and apps

Our second time here. We marked this place for a revisit when we come here again. Happy hour two for ones at 4...not sure of the whole happy hour, but heck! Come take advantage! Bar seating fir 8 plus tables that'll seat 7 more. They had a local IPA by Burley Oak. Got the mussel, shrimp, clam app, really good.

This is the obvious stop for crabs after Assateague, but I hope there are better crab houses around. Service was fantastic, but everything we had was overcooked and my drink was weak. I started with an orange crush but it wasn't strong or all that tasty. The steamed shrimp and trio platter were both overcooked, though there was plenty of seasoning, which I appreciate. I felt like the seafood just needed a minute or two less in the steamer. Green beans and corn were really good, but that's not why you go to a crab house. This place is really cute with excellent service but I'd try other places before returning.

Cute spot but not the best crab cake. A little over priced for the cost but great location and vibe being near the national park.

As we were very hungry and didn't want to stop to research where to go, I selected the 1st seafood restaurant. It was about 8 miles away. We had to u-turn and back track about a 1/4 mile as it was on the east side of the divided highway. At first glance, I was disappointed and annoyed. We wanted an actual sit-down restaurant so we could take a break, and what we see is a fresh fish market. It's a really old rundown looking fish market. But like I said, we were really hungry, and there were a few vehicles there. Some had people eating in them, so we went inside. As soon as we walked inside, the smell of fresh seafood hit us. It didn't sink. It smelled really fresh. There's 2 counters inside and no place to sit. The only seating is picnic tables outside. The first counter is the fresh raw seafood, and the 2nd way off to the left is for placing your order. We kill about for a bit while looking at the handwritten menu. An older man with a Russian accent and the sea weathered appernce you'd expect in a lifelong fisherman was helping other customers. When it our turn,it was a hard decision because it seems you can have them cook any of the seafood from the other counter. We both went with the classic fish in chips. What we got to a while as it's completely made to order. Yo! This fish was in the ocean swimming yesterday! It's that fresh! So, the fish was fried flounder filet, and the fries were standard frozen fries with old bay type seasoning. This was the best fried fish I'd had in a very, very long time. The fries weren't bad, but the fish was next level. If you're every driving by and have a hankering for great fresh seafood, stop here. You won't regret it.
