I was referred to Dr. Alan Gordon for emergency treatment for a retinal tear. Although I was at the office for quite a few hours, the staff was wonderful, apologizing for the wait and Dr. Gordon and his room support team were wonderful. Dr. Gordon explained the process and what to expect during the healing process. While the laser was a bit uncomfortable, Dr. Gordon was kind and the treatment did not take very long. I do need to return to have a slight tear in the other eye, and grateful it is not as large and serious as the right eye. I would recommend Dr. Gordon and this practice should you have serious eye concerns/issues. read more

Dr. Gu has done an amazing job managing my eye issues and walking me through each step with confidence and expertise. The office staff/MAs have all been extremely kind as well. I have consistently felt reassured that I'm in good hands with ARC. Sometimes wait times can be long-ish (not often at all with Dr. Gu) but when you're the one having the unplanned eye emergency that takes time to fix, you don't want them rushing. read more

This is the WORST place to go as a new patient. Brought my mom in and her appointment took four hours!! Not even a sorry you had to wait or this does take a long time. The patient's time isn't relevant to the doctors or staff. No one should be subjected to have to wait that long for a new patient visit. The patient's time is just as important and the doctor's time. I've been seeing Dr. Mathew Welch for 5+ years for a detaching retina laser surgery and the other eye for diabetics retinopathy. Dr. Welch saved my eyesight. Both the Phoenix and Gilbert locations are well staffed and have all the necessary equipment for examination and treatments. read more

My wife had a follow up consult with Dr. DeSouza after she had an eye stroke. I attended with her. A truly horrible experience for her. Dr. DeSouza presented as rude, indifferent and insensitive. He ignored her questions and was dismissive. He then took her by the hand, said, "Come with me" and took her to the hallway. We both thought she was being taken for some further diagnostic. He then pointed to the exit sign at the end of the hallway and said, "There's the exit." He then turned and walked away. I retired as a manager of a counseling clinic and a clinical supervisor. In over 30 years of practice I have never observed such a lack of professionalism and a flippant lack of genuine care. We will never return. You will find more compassion with a DMV clerk! read more

This is the rudest, most disorganized office I have ever encountered. Follow up with the lab, oh no order, get a glaucoma evaluation from another MD oh, no referral, call their office, leave a message and get a rude nonhelpful person returning the call. Oh come in and wait two hours for your appointment. "Can't you see we are busy?" Accompanied by an eye roll and a shoulder shrug. Ummm and the rest of the world isn't? These people are the most disrespectful staff. Get some customer service training. I know things go awry. I work in healthcare but there is absolutely no reason whatsoever ever for this lack of manners and disorganization. Unbelievable. It took all my self regulation skills not to be rude back. I'm not going to act ugly because they do. But geez! I shouldn't have to expend such energy to manager their negativity. Loved Dr Tran; office staff is horrible. We waited for over a half hour for each stage of the appointment. When we asked questions, all we received were shrugs of disinterest. I was referred here by my optometrist at Accurate Family Vision. This was when Covid had first started so this was probably not a typical experience. The 2 worked well together sharing information on my symptoms and after discussing over the phone with ARC they agreed that I should come in. Dr. DeSouza and his staff were very professional and clear in what was going on. He isn't going to talk your ear off but he is straight forward and doesn't beat around the bush, I can appreciate that. He was even able to perform the laser surgery while I was there in the office that day. Maybe this is typical but I was surprised it didn't require another visit. I have since been back for my second follow-up and am recovered. I've had several BAD experiences at medical offices in the past which is what prompted me to write this review. These guys aren't going to blow your hair back but seem to be run efficient and honest. No crazy surprise charges and worked well with my insurance. Cheers! read more

This business has absolutely no interest in patient's lives. They overbook so much that a patient is left for literal hours waiting for dr Gordon's attention. This is not just my opinion but number of others waiting in lobby. Let me get specific, 3pm appt still waiting in lobby at 5:25pm. Receptionist tells us we may still have another hour to 1-1/2 hour wait to see doctor. Apparently this is normal for this business. Wow! Got my friend here for a 1:15 appt it is now 3:57 and she still has not been seen I wonder if all the people in the waiting room will have to spend the nite. Why do these dr feel their time is more important than people that are making them rich? If you need a dr in the field this is NOT the office to go to. I don't recommend Dr Stephen DSouza. He messed up my right eye with a vitrectomy that left me with more floaters and less vision and no solution. He never admitted that he cut my retina, never explained in the pre-op that vitreous was a membrane and still attached at the top and the risks associated with that. He did the left eye first with positive outcome but didn't explain the right eye was different situation, so I trusted him. He has no bedside manners and doesn't think education and communication are an integral element of patient care. His attitude was dismissive after the fact. My right eye feel unstable and my vision disjointed, and he said : I don't see anything that I need to fix' and repeatedly said the same at all my questions. Associated Retina Consultants did follow up at my complaint and had me see a different doctor who explained things better. I'm thankful for that. Bottom line my right eye is in a bad way and I have to live with it. Do not have vitreous surgery , that's my advise read more

I tore my retina and the Doctors at Assoicated Retina Consultants were awesome. Dr DeSouza Dr Odden Dr Odden took time on New Years Eve to care for me. I am almost positive it was past midnight when my eye pressure was very high that she finished up with me. She has my eternal gratitude. Too long a wait! But that is not the only issue we have with this practice. My husband and I are here for the winter, and have to continue with our treatments . Because we receive the exact same injections when home, we can compare the process, apples to apples as the saying goes. Post injection here, we have both experienced excruciating pain. Myself once, my husband for the third time as I am writing this. We have been getting the injections for years and neither of us has experienced post injection pain before coming here. If you don't mind a doctor who has absolutely no respect for his patients and thinks it's perfectly normal that he doesn't see his 9:15 appointment until 11:50, then Dr. Gordon would be the right doctor for you. This was my third appointment with Dr. Gordon. When I arrived, I was quickly taken back by a staff member to have my eyes dilated, but then was ushered back out to the waiting room to wait for Dr. Gordon. This was not for the initial assessment that they warn you can take 3+ hours, but for a check up, for one eye, that took all of 8 minutes of his time. When I voiced my irritation, he actually told me it was normal to wait up to three hours to see a retina specialist, as though I was the one being unreasonable. I will not be returning and would absolutely not recommend Dr. Gordon. read more

There aren't a lot of reviews for retina specialists. Let's face it... The crowd that needs a retina specialist isn't really into Twitter or Yelp or Instagram! When I visit these offices I'm surrounded by people that are generally Advanced in their years. I was referred to Dr. Gordon With my eye doctor was no longer able to help me. He referred me to Dr. Gordon because he is the best. He warned me that the appointments took patience. My eyesight is worth patience! I believe that without Dr. Gordon I would likely be totally blind by now. I was legally blind in my left eye. I now see 20/35. I drive. I work. In my 50s, this is no time to go blind and I am eternally grateful for the team at Associated Retina Consultants for their care. They are warm and personable. If you want the best care... If you want one of Phoenix's Top Doctors... Dr. Gordon is simply the best. He is worth waiting for! I'd like to add that eye treatments can be frightening to undergo. He is SO good! Let me tell you how good. I was in his office for a laser treatment when diagnostics revealed that I would not be able to be corrected by laser. I found out I had to get a shot in my eye. If I hadn't already been in that chair (with my husband guarding the door) I would never have kept an appointment to get shots in my eyes. Gentle and painless! I would rather have a shot in my eye than anywhere else in my body because of this great doctor. Don't be afraid. I've been to three of the offices. Gilbert is my favorite location though hard to book as there are limited appointments. Mesa seems to have the mist appointments available. read more
