The Aston Diner is my favorite place to eat. The cheesesteaks there are gas. By far the best I have ever had. I get it almost every time I go. When I don't get the cheese steaks I get a bacon egg and cheese bagel which is also good or sometimes the french toast that comes with the little strawberries on top. I would not recommend getting nachos or chocolate milk, however. It tastes like they put a tiny bit of chocolate milk in regular milk. The staff is very friendly, the prices are great, and the food comes in very large portions. Also, the orange juice has pulp which is just an L. Overall, by far the best diner in delco and absolutely clears the Springfield diner. read more

It's a diner. Portions of food are big, seasoning uninventive. I usually come here to meet with some friends for breakfast. Have no complaints about the breakfast. I also have been here for lunch, as well. I had the club sandwich and the chef salad, both giant positions and standard preparation. Update: yeah! a restaurant with edible food in Aston! We've now been here quite a few times since it opened earlier in the year, and it still definitely passes muster. Menu is huge, and we've liked almost everything we've tried. I still have no idea how they manage to provide such fast service at a packed restaurant with a huge menu, but they do. We've found the gyros and cheesesteak to be fine, not best-in-class, but probably better than anything else in the immediate vicinity (although that's a very low bar). The French onion soup is good, and we've also had good luck with salads and breakfast foods. Prices are reasonable, too. read more

Nearly a year since theyre geand opening,I just haven't had the time to stop in this 24/7 diner. The first impression made was a really good one. For whatever reason, I don't always expect a great product or great service in the early am. Well, I had a late start for work one day and decided to stop in here for breakfast. I was greeted by the night manager who brought me a glass of water and breakfast menu to my seat. I was being greedy when I ordered both sausage links and scrapple with two eggs and home fries. This was the best breakfast that I've had out in awhile. The sausages were huge sage links. The scrapple was fried to a perfect crisp. And the eggs were cooked perfectly also, which is rare to get and often over cooked in most places. The home fries could have stood a little more griddle time to make them more crisp, but no big deal. Plenty of seating in this diner, and a pretty sizable breakfast menu. I was there at 3am, so I asked the manager if the dinner menu was available at this time of morning. His response was that all menus are available 24/7... The booths are made for Huge people, could barely sit at the table. A ceaser salad came with my meal, it had chocolate in it(cross contamination) and they forgot the dresssing on top of that. Orders a pasta seafood special, came with no pasta, ended up having explosive shits for the rest of the night and had to call out sick from work. Never again. I haven't been able to find a really good diner in a long long time. But this place is the bees knees. The food is excellent, the place is BEAUTIFUL, and i love the free WiFi. Who doesn't? The servers are beyond friendly. I love stopping in for dinner or a late night snack. I also enjoy being able to do my school work in the booth when I need a break from my home. It's so nice to have another 24 hour diner right in my back yard and I have few complaints. The food is diner quality, not question about it, so I'm not going to expect amazing things in that regard. Frozen and pre-processed? Yep, it's there. Do I care? Nope. I'm here for standard American diner fare. What I'm really wowed with is the deserts and coffee. Finally a diner in Delco that has good quality coffee, not Starbuck's good, but definetly Wawa good. The pie and cake are out of this world! Coconut custard and carrot cake are by far my favorite, I'm a picky foodie when it comes to deserts (having made my own out of Cooks Illustrated) and I can confidently say this is some good pie. Look to this local spot for some tasty breakfast options, just be a bit careful navigating the parking lot and entrance. Atmosphere - Inside the diner, a very modern take on the diner experience. Warm tones, soft lighting, and clean tables provided our respite for breakfast before a day of errands. We went in for a late breakfast right before noon and had no problem getting a table after we walked in. The hustle and bustle is like most other diners, and the small seating section in the front hides a larger, open seating plan in the back, as well as counter service for those stopping for a quick bite. Waitstaff - Seemed a bit confusing when we first walked in. The bus person who cleaned our table offered us water only to have our waitress offer us water again after she came to our table initially. Once the original issue was straightened out, we had no other problems, as orders came out perfect from memory and the food was on our table in about seven minutes time. Food - Great work here by the cooks and management. I went with a standard ham and cheese omelet, was very shocked when a giant plate came out loaded up on the omelet and included home fries and toast. It is a really big portion, so be careful if you get a side. Light and great consistency, it was a perfect way to the start the morning. Also ordered a side of scrapple, take note scrapple lovers, this diner knows how to do scrapple right. Crispy outside with warm mix inside, perfect texture and exactly the way I think of scrapple when I order it. My other diner ordered a spinach omelet which again, was light, flaky, and provided way too much to eat for them in one sitting. Price is very, very reasonable as well considering the amount you get. Intangibles - For those local to Aston, the diner is near where the old Dexter's sports bar used to be. For non locals, it's right near the five points circle, which can be a major pain in the morning with traffic and people not stopping to let you turn in our out. Be careful here, as I'm sure it can be a bit tricky to navigate. Parking lot seems like the sports are a bit too close together, and a little dicey when backing out, take care to find a spot that will meet your acumen. Other posters say that this restaurant can get busy, if so, be prepared to wait outside since the lobby is very, very small. The diner is also open 24 hours, so if you have a partner with a late night craving, or are a college student nearby looking for a place to study with some coffee, this is the spot for you to get off campus. Overall - Considering how close the Aston Diner is, the quality of food, and the service with a smile, I'd totally recommend this place as a local option for breakfast. Still have to get back there for lunch or dinner, but if the quality from the breakfast is any indication, I don't think I'll be disappointed in the future. read more

Maybe it's the coffee... and that I drank too much of it... but my enthusiasm for this place is pretty off-the-charts right now. I met my dad today for a quick bite. We sat right down. Our waitress was AMAZINGLY awesome. Helpful, on-in, yet left us alone to talk, and miraculously reappeared as soon as I needed something. Was she psychic? Maybe!?!?! We split a cinnamon bun to start. She brought out extra plates without us even needing to ask. The cinnamon bun was pretty much perfect... sweet, lots of rasins, even the bottom half was a treat. For my meal i had an asparagus and cheese omelette... my dad went spinach and cheese. The omelettes were the perfect size... no skimping on cheese, or veggies. They were well cooked, but not overcooked... I hate runny omelettes! Salt and pepper was at my disposal, as was Heinz katchup in a squeeze bottle (been defeated by the glass bottles too many times... and generic katchup... ick). Hash browns were well cooked, and topped with fresh onions and peppers sauteed to order... and still crunchy. They really took things up a notch! Bottom line- this is a little diner in Aston that's open 24 hours. My perception of 24 hour diners are 'icky' with cranky waitresses and sub-par food. The Aston really sets the bar high. The place was immaculate, the prices were reasonable, the service wanted to be there, and seemed happy about it, and the food was fresh, well cooked, and delicious. The owner is EXTREMELY rude! Each time we visit, he shows no customer service skills. How hard is it to smile? Does it hurt to say "You're welcome" after I thank you for seating us? After management contacted us and promised action we gave it a chance. Not the case. I want to support my towns businesses but I can't bring myself to do that after this treatment. I've been to this place a couple of times. It's alright. The prices aren't crazy, but for a diner they are a bit on the high side. The problem I have is that the food that I order is not consistent and each time I have gone the food just doesn't taste as good as the last time. Granted I usually order breakfast food no matter what time I go but if you are a diner and can't do breakfast right there is something wrong with what you are doing. I went today and got a bacon and spinach omelette with home fries, toast and coffee. The bacon in my omelette wasn't cooked thoroughly, the same for the home fries. My toast was nearly burnt and the coffee was gross.....like dirty dish rag gross. It's just disappointing. I wish there was a good diner to go to that wasn't too far. October 17, 2019 Not very accommodating to a party of one. It was a little after 9 pm and I had a 10 minute wait. No one in front of me and plenty of empty tables. A patron told me they where short handed tonight from call outs. My waitress had a heavy odor of cigarettes and it was much worse when she brought my soup out and again with my meal. When asked what cakes they had it seamed to be a bother as she picked the check up crumpling it. I walked over to look for my self....when asked what I wanted I decided to just leave. The food is just ok, but they charge like it's cuisine. My girlfriend and I went for breakfast. Two omelets and one coffee. I got scrapple and she had hash browns. $32. What?! If you fed it to me while fanning me with palm fronds it MIGHT be worth that. But you didn't. And it wasn't. That location has had SOOO many businesses that went under and this one will too. Although the breakfast food was decent and our server,Angela, was upbeat and attentive, our experience at the Aston Diner was merely subpar. As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere was noticeably cheery and welcoming. However as we sat at our booth waiting for food, the noise level became offputting. We had to practically yell across the table to have a conversation. Price wise it was too expensive considering the price to portion ratio. I got the number 6 breakfast special and was disappointed by the lack of food. I finished my plate in less than ten minutes and was still hungry. I don't know if we will come back again, I think we can find a cheaper place to eat with greater food portions. Being from NJ and certainly having tried a many of Diners, I gotta say this one may not be great but it's good. Better for breakfast but lunch and dinner are "doable". Portions sizes are huge which is a reason to go as you will probably leave with a lunch for the next day. I don't go out of my way to eat here but if you're in the area give'em a try. Truly hit or miss! Some days the food is spot on, others just plain bad (dry meatloaf, cold, etc) Service, actually the management, is what gets me. Waitresses spend more time bickering over whose table it is because of some arcane rotation system then servicing the customers. You're either lucky to get your drinks ordered multiple times or have no one take a drink order. Honestly, the older, "blonde" haired hostess has a terrible attitude and causes 99% of the confusion in my opinion. The wait staff can be ok...we know which ones we prefer but you're stuck in their rotation hell so it's honestly a crap shoot who will be serving you. I don't think their dinners are especially good. Breakfast is OK...there are better but their sandwiches/wraps/melts and salads are a good deal. Onion rings are terrible frozen rings worse than Burger Kings'. 15% off coupons can often be found in the Clipper magazine and make it a better value. When it first opened it was very, very good (4.5 stars) but has declined in the last 8 months to a 3 on a good day, a 1 when their off. So if you like to gamble, give it a shot, you might just get lucky...but if the "blonde" is hostessing, I'd walk out, as the odds are not in your favor of getting good service or a good meal. Update 3/11/14. The food has gotten much better. I think there is a new cook. It is back to the standards when it first opened. I upped the stars to 4 from 3. The rotation system for servers is still extremely annoying as is the blond hostess but at least now the meal is worth the aggravation read more

We went there on a Sunday morning and had no problem getting seated . The food was fabulous and we would definitely go back . The service was above and beyond any that we have experienced in other restaurants . They constantly checked on us to see if we needed anything . I forgot my take home box and it was thrown out by the bus boy . This was my fault but they quickly made me a partial order of french toast to take home . This was over and above excellent service . What you want when you go to a local diner is consistency. I've been here a ton of times and when I order my favorites (chicken parm, hot turkey sandwich, hot roast beef) I'm never disappointed. The food comes out hot except for the salad, lol. It's always fresh and crisp. And their chicken-based soups (the only kind I tend to order) are also tasty. Service is also pretty good. Occasionally I get a waitress who isn't super friendly (though always appropriate) but it's hard work and figure everyone is allowed to be tired now and again. Overall, the wait staff is cheerful and helpful. My only complaint with the diner is that there's not much offered in the way of green vegetables. But hey, that's generally not my jam so I'm good. read more

The ice tea is also so light you can just barely tell it's tea. They also don't let you know if the vegetables are glazed or not. The Aston Diner is a decent meal in a casual setting with friendly staff. We read a lot of conflicting reviews of people who had had WONDERFUL experiences and others that had TERRIBLE experiences. Well, ours was something in between. We were a party of 6 at noon on Labor Day, and we were seated (amongst the throngs of hungry diners) almost right away. The hostess (once she was done ringing up the line of patrons paying) was kind and quick to get us to a large table. Props also for seating us at an 8 person table with extra chairs vs a 4 person table with chairs pulled up to the sides. We didn't wait long for anything, and I loved that our server brought us out a pitcher of water so we could fill up to our hearts' content. All busy restaurants should do this. We ordered a variety of foods - from the cheesesteak and fries to the meatloaf and mash to the buttermilk pancakes to the heart healthy omelet. Most people liked their meals. My omelet was kind of sad and meager, even for an egg white omelet. I just wanted more oomph. And more than a sad cup of not quite ripe fruit on the side. Luckily, I ate a bit of pancake and a taste of the meatloaf, and both were pretty good by me. Boyfriend wasn't impressed by the pancakes, but he thought they were good enough. All in all, a smooth experience. I think they have their strengths (comfort food) and their weaknesses (healthy food), so you just have to know where to find your meal on the menu. read more

The staff was kind, if not a little confused. But I was confused too. They kept coming back to check on my indecisive self. And I was grateful for that. Quick service, fast food. All was going well, until I found a hair in my fried eggs. Not on the edge but in the middle of the cooked whites. Actually pulled it out of my mouth, that's how I found it. Waitress tried to tell me it's part of the egg (the edge part that gets hard sometimes ). I have fried a lot of eggs in my life and know the difference between the egg/butter edge and a human hair that is about 3 to 3.5" long. That really kind of killed the ambience for us right there. Hairs happen, regrettably, but to bs it away like we are idiots is not what I want from a diner.
