Was not happy with my food experience today, ordered an asparagus omelette. It came to me looking like the grill hadn't been cleaned, was way too much almost like six eggs. Potatoes were cold, and the green pepper and onion were not blended into the potatoes. I was asked if I wanted green pepper and onions thought never crossed my mind until I was asking, and I said sure . Very disappointed with the quality and the display and quantity was way too much for an omelette. I even stressed. I don't want a lot of potatoes and still got almost an entire plateful. One Waitress Attitude Sucks!!!! My 1st time going there which my cousin found online & I had a bad experience. I ended up calling for takeout b/c my cousin took a little minute to meet me. My cousin pulled up and we both went in & my cousin ordered their food. Soon after they ordered we sat down in the chair (next to door to sit at if ur waiting). There is also a sign that says "Seat Yourself " my cousin proceeds to say let's eat here. So I paid for my food (which was done) and I went to sit over by the wall with the two seated table & my cousin came over with me til their food was done. In the meantime one of the waitresses look like she was talking trash to a guy she was standing next to and I knew she was because of her body language and she was looking over in our direction once we sat down. I even said to my cousin, "I feel like that lady talking shit because I have a take out bag". So just before my cousin got up to grab their food, a party of 5-6 ppl came in. The waitress I mentioned was like "is that take out"?! We said "Yes". She like well I have a party right here that needs the table. I immediately got up & went to my car b/c I was fuming . I'm like who is she to basically tell us to get up because a party came in when the sign clearly say "Seat Yourself " & we changed our mind because we wanted to stay in and eat there? I called the restaurant from outside to complain b/c I didn't want to make a scene. The girl answered and told me to please hold and never even got back on the phone which also pissed me off. So in the meantime my cousin came outside after getting their food and I expressed my frustration to them and they even said they realized what happened and it wasn't cool. I said I'm going in there to speak with a Manager, my cousin told me just don't come back or give them your money anymore but I told him I'm going to complain because they could do that to someone else in the near future. So, I go in there and the young lady that was at register asked me can she help me and I told her I needed to speak to a Manager. She told me there is no Manager I'm like how is there no Manager??!!! I'm like well who runs this place?" She said the owners". I'm like "well I need to speak to the owner! She says "I can't give you that information " is there anything I can help you with? So I explained to her everything I just said above and she was like "I understand ", then started to ask me questions that I answered . I said she was rude and disrespectful. I said she didn't know if we were gonna order drinks or anything else In here she just assumed because I had a take out bag we wasn't staying or ordering anything else and thought it was okay to give our seats we was sitting in to someone else (again when the sign clearly said "Seat Yourself"! The girl at register said I could leave my number and she will have them call me. I didn't wanna bring race card into it but how do waitress try to make two black ppl move but did t say anything else to other ppl that was dining out in restaurant? And the restaurant was dominantly all Caucasian people no more black people in there. Then she says to me I'm so confused but I understand where you're coming from. Like Miss how are you so confused but understand where I'm coming from? That doesn't make sense? In the meantime I did give her my number to give to owner but for sure I don't trust her and feel like she will or waitress will throw my number out. So I told her I will be reaching out again until I talk to with someone because what that waitress did was total bullshit and unnecessary. This is a great spot! My dad and I went here for Father's Day and the food was great! The scrapple Benedict came out hot and the eggs were poached perfectly. The omelette was a huge portion and it was enough to take home for a second meal. The reason why I couldn't give this place a five star rating is that we asked for our home fries well done and they, as you can tell from the photo, were not well done. Staff was friendly and very accommodating to always asking if we had enough drinks and if we needed more napkins, ketchup, etc. Food was served in large portions for a great price! My husband has been wanting to try this place since it opened several months ago so we finally stopped in for a quick breakfast this morning. Glad we did! Their menu wasn't overwhelmingly long like some other places are... There were only a handful of omelettes to choose from other than the choice to build your own... This wasn't a problem for me though as I quickly settled on trying the BLT Omelette which caught my eye right off the bat. After asking the waitress (who we know personally and is more or less family) if it was any good, I decided to try it. I thought it was great - the bacon and tomatoes are combined with the eggs and once the omelette is cooked they put a little mayo on it, fold it in half and then top it with some shredded iceberg. I usually get rye bread with my breakfast, but since it was a BLT, I went with the typical white bread. Overall I really liked the omelette and didn't find it salty, even with all that bacon in there! That said, I did find the home fries to be on the salty side, but since I love salt, I didn't mind one bit. Just didn't add any extra at the table. But people who don't love salt like me will most likely have a problem with that. Anyway, my husband had the Taste Budz special or whatever is was called... Two eggs, two pancakes or french toast, homefries, two meats, toast, coffee and OJ for $7.99. To my surprise, he ate every bit so I know it was all good! This was a near perfect visit. I came in with a friend and we had an absolute mountain of food for not very much money. The atmosphere of the place is kind of generic diner, but the servers are all very nice people (though I question the fact that it seems they have no people of color working front of house.) Asparagus Cheddar Omelette $7.49, added spinach 50 cents - you cant beat the price and it was HUGE, but it was the least delicious item in our order, lacking any real intense flavor. Chocolate chip Belgain waffle with whipped fream - $6.49 and worth every penny ; it was the size of a small child. So delicious. Biscuit - $1.50 - this was the one weird discrepancy in that I can't comprehend a biscuit being that much. Fifty cents seems more reasonable. It was just fine, but basically tasted like it was made from a mix. Side of home fries - $1.59 Side of 2 scrambled eggs - $1.59 So both of these items were generous portions and very tasty, but there was a weird thing here. Those two things, totaled together, should add up to $3.18. But instead there was just "2 Egg Any Style" listed on our check for $3.50. I didn't actually notice the home fries were missing, and thought they had accidentally rung up the wrong price on the eggs. SO I went up to address it and the server told me it was just easier to ring them up together and that "it comes out less that way." It was...an interesting situation. It wasn't worth arguing over a 32 cent overcharge. Add an iced tea at $1.99 and a large orange juice at $2.99 and you have a total of $25.93 with (with tax) for enough food to feed a small army. The food was alright but not worth the attitude. We were not told how to pay and waited for our waitress to take our card. Our family loves the breakfast at Taste Budz! We ordered takeout this morning and got 2 taste bud specials and split it between 4 of us(2 adults, 2 toddlers). Everything was delicious and there was so much food that we still have some leftover. The taste Budz special we ordered had a ton of fluffy scrambled eggs with cheese, a generous amount of home fries, bacon, pork roll, blueberry pancakes & orange juice. The other one also had scrambled eggs, home fries, double order of sausage, chocolate chip pancakes and orange juice. Best breakfast deal around! Had dinner with a friend a few months ago it was an hour before closing and we walked in to find all the chairs on the tables. I asked if they were still open and they talked a minute and then seated us. I guess it had been a slow night so they were closing early. I ordered the chicken Marsala which was tender and yummy my friend liked their meal as well. The server was very attentive but we were the only people there. So you now are wondering why I have them a 1 star. This is because the man there that was cleaning and cooking was smoking inside the restaurant. I'm Delco you aren't allowed to smoke in a restaurant and I'm allergic to smoke so breaking the law and making me have an asthma attack gets you a 1 star. We will never go back because of this. Since new owners took over, they have been cutting corners on portions and "nickel and dimming" customers. Have been a long time customer but have noticed the dramatic change. Decided to grab breakfast here one morning and the overall service was pretty good. This is a average sized cafe where a lot of locals come and to gather. We weren't locals but decided to grab a quick breakfast prior to leaving. They seated us right away. ( note: 4+ people would require them to add an additional table.) Our waitress was Kelly - a humble lady. She recommended us the eggs benedict or the Cream Chipped Beef. I ordered the Cream Chipped Beef and needless to say, it was unexpected. The cream was viscous and had a taste that made your stomach feel bloated. In my opinion, it didn't compliment the "beef" very well. The chipped beef almost seemed like ham and smothered in the cream with beef were 4 slices of toast. The toast was soggy because of that - which made it hard to enjoy. The home fries was a side that the dish came with. It was cooked to a good crisp level but didn't have enough flavor. Overall, customer service was great and the food was good portioned for the price. But the food itself was something I wasn't use to and didn't quite enjoy. read more

I have noticed that they now have a new younger cook that doesn't know how to cook, he makes the food how he wants no matter what you say when you order. Sorry, this place just did not do it for us. I have one positive, and that is their breakfast link sausage...those are good. Their bacon was really thin and overcooked, though. I ordered the french toast with strawberries and "Nutella". First off, the strawberries were previously frozen, so that's a real disappointment because you want and expect fresh strawberries on a dish like french toast. Secondly, the Nutella was Not nutella. I think it was some kind of substitute brand, and there is a difference, my friend. Lastly, I am pretty certain that they used a can of whipped cream that only had enough left to meagerly drizzle a teaspoons worth onto my french toast. I wish I snapped a photo, because it was pitiful. My daughters ordered the Benedict which apparently came with a PA thing called Scrapple?.? That stuff is gross. We stopped here on the way to the airport. Good prices, great bacon, although they don't give you a whole lot of it (5 pieces per side order). There's nothing special about the French toast. My sweet-toothed daughter said that her chocolate chip French toast was too sweet and too chocolat-y, which must have meant very very sweet. More and more local businesses are opening in Aston, which is a very good thing. Taste Budz Cafe is housed in the old Memories Grill, and recently opened for breakfast and lunch. I really wanted to like this place more, but they still have some work to do on their breakfast menu. Atmosphere - Nice new pictures and paint have been put up over the drab colors of the old Memories Grill. Taste Budz has also added a few comfortable booths, but kept some of the old furnishings from Memories Grill which really are uncomfortable for seating. Still has TV's in the restaurant, and while the Saturday morning cartoons may be geared toward the family atmosphere, for those diners without children it can be a bit much. Other than that, everything still has mostly the same look as the old restaurant used too. Waitstaff - Our waitress Mallory did a great job of coming over to greet us, and was very friendly throughout our service. The large water glasses were very much appreciated and she was prompt at getting out food out and doing a great job following up with us. Other waitstaff were engaging and friendly as well, this was one of the finer points of dining here. Food - Tsk, tsk. If you're going to be known as a breakfast place, you really have to do breakfast well, and my party felt as though the breakfast was lacking. I went with a ham and cheese omelette and some cinnamon toast. The omelette was a bit salty, and the cheese wasn't all the way melted in the omelette. I could tell they used sliced cheese instead of grated cheese because the shape was still clearly visible. The home fries were bland, no real taste or crispiness to them. When you say that with your meal that the bread was the best part, that's saying something. My other diner ordered an omelette as well which she said was very salty and agreed, no taste with the home fries as well. I also ordered a side of scrapple which was highly disappointing. Very lean and all you could taste was the fried outside, too thin to have any meatiness to it. Intangibles - The restaurant is right next door to a karate studio, which had an active class during our meal. Every time someone hit a bag or stomped on the floor, you could feel the vibration from our table. A worker said while we were there that Saturdays are the only day that they have this issue, thought I'm not really sure how they could solve for this issue, but it was pretty annoying to have happen during the meal? The prices here are fantastic, as we were both able to dine for less then $20 before tip, but I would prefer to pay more if the food quality increased from the breakfast that I had. Overall - Taste Budz Cafe has a way to go for breakfast, and I have to say, there's now some competition in Aston, so hopefully these things will get better as they grow. I'd be willing to give them a try for lunch, as they had some interesting items on the menu as well, but as far as for breakfast in the future, I might try one or two other spots before going there again. However, if you're a family looking for a low cost, kid friendly value meal, this might be a spot worth trying out. read more
