Had a great time here - I've always been a fan of Russian food and was looking for somewhere to dine in St. Louis. We had a large group of around 10 diners and they were able to accommodate us which was very nice. The food was very good - loved the pelmeni and borscht!

I ate at this restaurant for a coworkers 10 year anniversary party. We were served family style with some of the food options being off menu. The table setting was really nice and our group rented out the entire restaurant. We started with a slew of appetizers and booze. So many appetizers I can't remember the names of any of them, however I can say I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried. I really enjoyed the salads, pickled veggies, stuffed fish and the smoked fish appetizers. We enjoyed Russian Standard Vodka as well as one of the most delectable Georgian red wines I've ever tasted. After we'd gorged ourselves on appetizers the main entrees were served. We were all a little surprised and wishing we hadn't devoured the apps, because the lamb rice was outstanding! We also ate baked chicken that was super yummy as well. I'll definitely return to this restaurant. The owner is spunky and the service was great! Plus I love good vodka.

Finally, I got the family to eat here with me for a special occasion. Fortunately, ever enjoyed it and I loved it. My grandmother, who was Lithuanian, used to make beat soup and meat dumplings for me when I was growing up. The Russian/Ukrainian versions are slightly different, but the this one of only a couple places in the St. Louis area where I can get anything close. The borscht (beat soup) and Pelmini (meat dumplings) were excellent. My sons both really liked the pelmini. They're juicy and flavorful and perfect with sour cream. The borscht was chock full of beat and potato and athe ingredients were tender. Everyone also liked the meat blinsis. They're a bit like a mini burrito in appearance. The meat is different than in the dumplings in that it is minced- more like the consistency of ravioli filling. We were less impressed with the smoked fish and caviar. But tue octopus salad that came with the smoked fish was delicious. As far as entrées, we were all blown away by the lamb and chicken kebabs. Maybe the best kebabs I've had. Finally, we shared vareniki for dessert. They're another dumpling. This time filled with cheese and cherry filling. Exceeded expectations. I'll definitely be back.

Astoria was amazing, the food was awesome. Unfortunately they only had one waitress there and it took a while, but that was no fault of theirs. There was an extremely large party of people as well. Even with them being super busy everything was fantastic! Will definitely be going there again even if it's just for the customer service!

An elegant tiny bistro with extremely attentive service and an authentic menu, Astoria is a delightful place to visit, dine, and drink.

Terrible food, loud music, claustrophobic place. Unless you crave a good poisoning do not go there

The people were nice. Food was not bad. I kept feeling bugs on my legs. I'm so sorry because I wanted to give this a better review.

I arrived early on purpose so I could check-out the bar in, Commonwealth. When I arrived between 5 and 5:30 PM, there were a scattering of filled tables in the dining room and only two guest seated at the bar. So it was real easy for me to take a stool at the very contemporary bar. After taking my seat, the bartender quickly greeted me and said she'd be with me shortly. I could see she was busy mixing and shaking other customers cocktails, so I waited patiently. When she approached me, she came with a tall glass of water, menus for both food and adult beverages. Once I saw the Vanilla Old Fashioned on the cocktail menu, I knew what I wanted. One of my favorite classic cocktails is an Old Fashioned and vanilla is my favorite flavoring. So combining both of them had to be a winner and it was. The cocktail was strong, but with the taste of vanilla it went down smoothly. I dad to pace myself, I was tempted to chug it and enjoy it in one big gulp. I told the bartender I was not dining, that I just stopped by before going upstairs to the private party. She was still attentive and followed up with while I sipped my cocktail. While I sat there, I enjoyed being entertained by her skills making other cocktails. Only detail that was missed, was placing a cocktail napkin under my drink. I am old school and like that presentation and protection from the moisture. As I watched her, she did napkins for others, she just missed mine. Reading the food menu was very tempting and seeing the food being served around me, it all looked very good. As I was leaving to attend my party, the bar had filled up and so had the other tables in the dining room. I'm pretty sure I'll be back for the full experience, very soon.
