It's been a few years since I've been here (since they first opened), and I am in no hurry to return. What went wrong shouldn't be the question. What actually went right should be asked. Let's start at the beginning. We visited on a beautiful Saturday mid morning but were quickly seated after arriving. The server asked us if he could start us off with drinks. I shared I was there for the Yelp event, and he ignored that and repeated his question about drinks. He also stated he was busy, which I didn't know how to take. I felt rushed to make my drink decision, which ended up in me not enjoying the iced vanilla coffee I settled upon. For our order, we ordered the original beignets, the breakfast sandwich with potatoes and the 3 Little Piggy Omelette with cheese grits. After waiting for 20-30 minutes, our server returned to say that he just realized that our order was not in the queue. He said that that had never happened to him before, and said that maybe the weather was making the computers mess up. He said he would put in a rush for our food. I can say he seemed apologetic but I think it was an error on his part, not the computer. After all, he had already mentioned how "busy" he was. And I've never known a sunny, cloudless day to mess with computers. He typed our order in again and this time, the food was out within 15 minutes. The beignets were the best part of the meal. The breakfast sandwich (on sourdough) was hard and dry. The potatoes looked unappealing and lacked salt. My guy remarked his food was ok but commented on how "used" the butter looked. See included picture. The server checked on us periodically. We are not complainers so no we didn't mention any of this to the server. After requesting a box for the leftovers and the check, it was another 15-20 minutes before we saw either, even though he came around twice more and repeated what we had asked him for. We did leave a tip although this was one of the poorest experiences we've had in ages. We will not return anytime soon to this location.

My mama said it tasted fine but nothing special. I enjoyed the wrap, which had a decent amount of flavor from the sauce, and the fries were thick and crispy. The 1/2 bird meal was kind of a let down. We had that meal for dinner, and there was hardly any flavor on the chicken or the potatoes and gravy. The squash casserole was delicious, though! Plus, the chicken only lasted a day. When we took the chicken out for another meal, it did not smell right and that was disappointing. We ended up eating the rest of the veggies and potatoes with something else. Brea was warm, personable and upbeat from the very start. She never stopped moving except to give customers at her tables her undivided attention. Despite being as busy as she stayed, she never forgot anything her tables requested. Any time we return, we are going to ask for Brea! When we were leaving, we pulled her aside for just a moment to let her know how amazing she was and that we hope she is a trainer for others. She was such a sweet and attentive server, didn't miss a beat anywhere. Now back to First Watch... the girls all had their hair up or pulled back, the kitchen staff worked fluidly together and the space was clean, the dining floor was clean and the patrons kept happy. It might have been the slowest dinner I ever had in my life. I had a 7:00 PM reservation and I arrived early and sat down at 6:50. After being greeted and ordering wine I placed an order of the pork belly appetizer at 7:05. The pork belly appetizer came out at 8:00, 55 minutes after ordering. I placed the entree order at 7:30 and it came out at 8:30. There were only 3 other tables in the restaurant. Two three tops and a two top so not even large tables. Why on earth is it taking an hour to get out an order. I have my credit card at 8:50 and got it back at 9:15. 25 minutes to charge a card? I mean I guess you can get busy but the 4 tables here had 3 people helping with them. At no point when the server came by my table did I ever say I needed another minute. So, a 2.5+ hour dinner as a single diner was ridiculous, especially considering they were not busy. The food here was truly incredible, some of the best I've had anywhere I've traveled. I absolutely loved it. You can tell they source fresh, local ingredients daily, and that commitment clearly shines through in the quality of every dish. I started with the pork belly appetizer, which was outstanding. The cut had the perfect balance of meat and fat, expertly cooked with the fat beautifully rendered. The flavors were exceptional as well, finished with a maple glaze and paired with a sweet potato cornbread that was completely unique and memorable. For my main course, I ordered the smoked ribeye, and it was flawless. The quality was top-tier, with gorgeous marbling that truly reflected a prime cut. The smoke flavor was perfectly balanced--present but never overpowering. It had a beautiful crust, was expertly seasoned, and cooked to an ideal temperature. It honestly could not have been better. They also offered a few amuse-bouches that were equally impressive. A single bite of cherry tomato with lamb bacon was one of the best bites I've ever had. To finish, I was served a watermelon and muscadine sorbet with a St-Germain finish, an incredibly thoughtful and skillful dessert. There is an immense amount of talent in this kitchen. You will never be disappointed by the food here. My experience seemed to be overshadowed by the slow service and near the end I was so ready to just leave. At first, I thought they were croutons, but when I took a bite, I was pleasantly surprised. The salad was also a generous portion--more than enough for two people to share.
