So we are staying in Hollywood so we can go early to Universal Studios. That way we don't have to do the drive home or rush with the crowds. We were looking for something local but good food. So we chose this establishment. No doubt a icon for many years and right next door to Paramount Studios. The menu is selective even has Greek food so cool hamburger and Mexican as well. They also have deserts and some extras in a Old school Cafe style decor you can have a crew because table for two expand. We ordered two pastrami sandwiches my wife got Greek fries, basically fries with fetta cheese on the fries. I got sweet potato fries they look burnt but they are not they are very tasty. Pastrami pass the test not salty good amount and good size sandwich. All together a great meal Counter staff very friendly and patient very sweet lady. Good food if your visiting Hollywood look this place up

If you are a vegetarian, as I have been my whole life, you always face the dilemma of where to get a healthy, meatless meal or snack when you are out running errands. I have always been leery of so-called vegetarian restaurants. Now that vegan is more common, those places actually do go to a lot of trouble to provide delicious, nutritious, animal product-free meals. But, in the past vegetarian places tended to be hit and miss. Well, if you are anywhere near an Astro Burger, you are in luck. Here you can get quite a number of meat-free dishes that are appetizing and very tasty. Add this bonus: the only vegetarian "burger" I have ever had that was edible and did not remind me of animal blood (you know the new plant burgers to which I am referring -- innovations for sure, for those who still crave the heme in blood), are the Garden Burger brand. They are rare in super markets now but Astro Burger serves them. Yay!! A deluxe Garden Burger for me, done and done! And there were other things we could have sampled too but we were in a hurry. Bonus: we asked them to substitute real cheddar cheese for the whey product termed American "cheese" (what does it say about us that we consider pressed whey to be cheese? No one in Vermont or Wisconsin does, believe me). The venue is spotless, there is easy access, parking is a snap in the rear, it is bright and cheerful, there are places to sit with big windows that lit up the restaurant even on a cloudy day, and the service was quick and friendly. And, there is a drive-thru. Astro Burger's owners have thought of everything. What's not to love?

We normally go to Astro in West Hollywood, but we now have moved closer to Koreatown This morning, we decided to try Astro next to Paramount Studios And we were surprised how much better it is than the other one To start the young man at the register, with a piercing on his left ear, who took our order and gave us the food gets an A for customer service. We gave them (2) $2 bills and told the young man one was for him. I hope he gets to keep it. The food was so much more flavorful and visually amazing The cup of water had crushed ice which was a nice surprise All the staff is amazing. We will definitely be back often.

5 stars for the vibes alone! This place is an extremely special gem that I hope stays the same forever... it's like I stepped into a time capsule or a film in which I'm the main character. Perfectly situated next to Paramount Studios, it's cinematically poetic. I love every little detail about this place from the vintage backlit menu to the small booths and the healthiest live plants adorning the inside. I got the LA Burger plate as recommended by the kindest staff; I especially loved their homemade sweet potato fries. Is it Michelin Star cuisine? Not exactly but for the retro diner experience I was looking for, it was perfect. I will most definitely be back.

Been coming here for 20 years. Jeez. Love the milkshake. Burger xtra cheese Fried chicken sandwich extra cheese Breakfast. A few vegetarian options are great. Can't say nothin about the shrimp quesodilla cause I don't mess with seafood. Quit trying to get me to try the seafood anywhere. Knock it off. I'm good. I'm 47. I don't need to try anything new except for alcohol and desserts that aren't too weird like pilates or whatever those small plates of desserts are called at the fancy nancy places. Staff is always friendly. Atm. Clean bathrooms. Ledge can hold phone for bathroom selfies! Has a classic old school look to it. Thank you.

The fries have no salt, why? They should at least put salt packets in the bag. A classic burger place, but they need to fix this.

The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with some indoor limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers.  COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination.  While I was here eating my food in this establishment a month ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. But this isn't strictly enforced. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is incredibly small. They have valet parking. I urge you to park on the street. However, be wary of the signs. On one side, there is a no parking sign on Wednesdays from 12PM - 3PM. On the other side, it says no parking on Thursdays from 12PM - 3PM. Basically don't go there on Monday and Tuesday (they are closed) and Wednesday and Thursdays for horrible street parking. It is a shame that a cute mom and pop restaurant closed. I am sad that I did not know about it sooner. I would have came more frequently. They have been opened since 1948. Very impressive! Food: I ordered a baklava, spanakopita, and gyro sandwich. The house made baklava went perfect with my coffee the next day. A delicious start to a new day. The baklava combines layers of honey-soaked crisp phyllo pastry and a cinnamon-scented nut mixture with pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnut. To me, nothing rivals homemade baklava. The texture of crispy and flaky phyllo pastry. The crunchy filling. And the warm honey syrup. It is all I want in a dessert / breakfast. The spanakopita was very delicious and filling. This spanakopita had sauteed spinach, feta cheese and seasonings, all wrapped up in phyllo dough and baked until golden brown and crisp. It's the perfect blend of spinach, cheese, onions, and herbs in a buttery crust. It was very savory. The gyro sandwich was so mouthwatering. My gyro sandwich included succulent, marinated, and seasoned lamb and beef grilled to perfection. Then it was wrapped up with fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and feta cheese in warm, soft, and slightly chewy pita, and slathered in delicious homemade creamy tzatziki sauce. I got a pistachio yogurt bar from their mini deli and market area. It was so nutty, creamy, and rich. Perfect for a hot summer's day. I love that they use real pistachio with yogurt to make it. None of the fake artificial stuff was used. Glad I didn't offer my close friend a bite of this otherwise he would have suffered a severe allergic reaction in the restaurant. That would have made the dining experience incredibly memorable, and not in a good way LOL I love that they have a complimentary water station for customers to grab as much water as they want. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

After leaving DTLA to work in the suburbs, I haven't been back and sad to say, it took a looming permanent closure to bring me back. What I loved about the place is still tried and true: a free parking lot (just need to tip the valet) and delicious Greek good. I don't eat lamb so my go to back then was the fish sandwich. I got it again, over 10 years later, and it is still as good as remembered. Prices have doubled (what can you expect in our current economy T_T), but the portion is still generous and the food still fresh and yummy. I brought BF and we ordered a spread enough for a family of four: spanakopita, tiropita, sausage appetizer, gyro sandwich, beef kefta patties sandwich (they were out of the beef kebab), fish sandwich, chicken kebab plate, and loukoumades dessert. Everything was fresh, light and delicious (okay, the dessert was a little too sweet for me)! We also grabbed a $3.99 baguette from the connected market. If you're planning on coming for one last visit before they close that first weekend of May 2025, make sure to come early and queue in the front of the store. The line will move and there should still be plenty of seating available after you order. If you come within the last 30 minutes before closing, you'll have to order to go. The employees here are still as courteous and friendly as ever. We were also jazzed to be graced with the presence of Chrys Chrys himself on our visit. We will miss you, Papa Cristo's!

So many sides to choose from, just depends on what mood I am in. I wish I had written reivews in the past, because unfortunately the price and quality doesn't seem the same for my usual plate, but some of the other items were really good. I placed a delivery order on Uber eats. We ordered: Calamari Pan Seared Veggies Penne with Butter and Parmesan (BOGO) Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich Gyro Plate Appetizers: Calamari - there was A LOT of calamari in this order. It took us a couple of sittings to eat it all. I even took some to work the next day. My only issue was that it seemed over fried so it lost the texture of the squid inside and I wasn't too fond of the sauce that it came with. Pan Seared Veggies - These were quite good! My toddler loved the broccoli. There was zucchinni, squash, mushrooms, onions, carrots and broccoli. It was seasoned very well and the broccoli had a nice char at the tops. Entrees: Penne with Butter and Parmesan - They should add garlic to that as well. I really enjoyed that part. Definitely a lot of butter, but it settled to the bottom so the noodles weren't too greasy. Toddler loved it.. but there sure was a lot of it. It comes with a little side of bread with cheese on it as well Lemon Chicken Pita Sandwich - My husband really liked this. He basically ate it 2 nights in a row. He really liked how the chicken tasted but he questioned the random 2 fries they added into the pita (he thought they were rougue fries that fell in until he saw it in the 2nd pita as well). Gryo Plate - House salad and Rice Pilaf So I'm not sure if this was an Uber thing or from the restaurant, but the base price did NOT include the sides. All sides were an additional $3 and up and you were required to pick 2. The base price was $23.95, then with 2 $3 sides it came out to $30 for my plate. I still got it because they have my favorite gyros. It definitely came with a good amount of protein, but it was strange that I didn't get a salad dressing, just 2 containers of tzatziki. It just didn't quite taste as good as before. Maybe it was on off day, but this dish was very disappointing since I spent so much on it. They do have the BOGO offers though, that was nice.

We're a family that loves cheese, so we went for all three cheese appetizer options. We got the Sizzling Feta, the Grilled Halloumi, and the Saganaki. We jokingly asked the server if it was a mistake to get so many appetizers, to which he firmly replied, "You like cheese. I can tell. You'll eat this, no problem." When I tell you we cleared those plates, I mean we absolutely demolished them. We loved all three! The Halloumi won as the overall favorite, but it was a fierce debate with strong support for each dish. Based on the Yelp reviews talking about how good the lamb is, I got the Lamb Souvlaki sandwich. It was delicious! The lamb was incredibly well-cooked, quite tender and very flavorful. The whole package of the pita, with the lamb balanced against the tzatziki and salad, was fantastic. If you're a meat-eater, I highly recommend it. If you're a vegetarian, my family also really enjoyed the Falafel sandwich and the Spanakopita. The Spanakopita was made like a turnover and its pastry was super buttery, perfectly light and flaky. The falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, nicely moist. It was a hit! The service was very quick and the staff was very friendly. While my family initially raised their eyebrows at the restaurant (it's sandwiched between a motel and a car wash), they were converted by the cheese and were devotees by the time we finished our entrees. This cozy neighborhood spot (formerly Freedman's) has that perfect casual-yet-vibrant vibe--think breezy Greek taverna meets LA cool--with excellent charcoal-grilled dishes and a great all-Greek wine list. The service was genuinely amazing. Our server Petra took incredible care of us from start to finish--attentive, knowledgeable, and warm without being over-the-top. And shoutout to the incredible bartender Penny. The whole team made us feel right at home. We went family-style and ordered a fantastic spread: * The lamb was a highlight--tender, perfectly grilled, and packed with flavor * Saganaki was cheesy, crispy, and fun. * Branzino came beautifully grilled with bright lemon orzo--fresh, flaky, and spot-on. * Mushrooms were earthy and well-seasoned. * Crispy fries were addictive. * We ended on a sweet note with honey balls (those little fried dough bites drizzled in honey--crispy, sticky, and addictive) and the baklava pie. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and meant for sharing. Portions lean toward the smaller side (typical for meze-style Greek plates), so ordering a variety works perfectly for a group. Greekman's hits that sweet spot of quality ingredients, simple execution done right, and welcoming hospitality. I had the chicken souvlaki (which was super tasty) with a big piece of pita (fresh) and the herbed rice (also very tasty), as well as the very lemony potatoes, which was crisp and yes, lemony, but not too sour, just the right amount. We also got the honey balls, which were sort of churro-ish but balls. The place was also nice and clean (though a little too dark if, like me, you get there early and have to kill time before the rest of your party arrives, so you try to read, but can't), and the staff was helpful and friendly. So, what do you need to be prepared for? Well, they usually serve stuff family style. Because of this, things don't come out at all once. In our case, we got the pita a good 10-15 minutes before the chicken. But while this would normally be a blemish, it wasn't because not only did my friends tell me this would happen, but so did our server. Which is why I'll go again, especially since I now know what to expect. One last note: the place is in a strip mall, and while I had no problem finding a spot, my friends had to go elsewhere.
