I had never tried hibachi before and I was not disappointed ! I loved the close honey feeling the seating gives you. Our chef was super fun and even threw a broccoli at me that caught in my mouth ! The portion for the price is so worth it. I had enough leftover for dinner the next day. And the Thai tea was phenomenal. I will definitely be back.

    Chicken and Shrimp hibachi meal

I've lived in Bloomington for 2 years and haven't ever heard any reviews of this place. I decided to finally give it a try with some friends in the hibachi area, and to say it quickly, I was satisfied. Service was nice, as we had meaningful conversations with our cook while also getting constant refills without ask, which is always a small detail I love. Price is so reasonable for what you're getting as the food did not disappoint. I'm basic and just got the chicken and shrimp but was very satisfied with the entire meal, as you also get salad, soup, and veggies on the side of your order. Overall, I see the vision with the place, but it was so dead attendance wise that it just felt like we didn't belong there or something. We had the entire place to ourselves which just made it weird eating in the (almost) dead silence. Overall, good food and service, but it felt very enclosed to the point it could almost be considered uncomfortable. Maybe we just caught them on a slow day.

Asuka was a pleasant surprise. During my time in Bloomington, I'd never been to a hibachi restaurant. I decided to go with some of my colleagues before they went on vacation. l The service was great, and I got my food in a fast manner. The food was delicious, and nothing ever beats Habachi Steak with mustard sauce. Additionally, I got double rice. You can never have too many car While this restaurant's food was delicious, I do wish that our chef was a little more outgoing like others. Other than that this restaurant was an absolute delight. Overall, Asuka is a great place to gather with a large amount of friends and family.

    Beef scallion

Where to begin with this review: 1. Not greeted upon arrival, and just awkwardly standing there while staff give you looks. Eventually after a minute someone walked over to seat up. 2. The server was just plain awful. He didn't really speak to us or have any interest in us. There was a table of females that he kept going over to and spending all his time while treating the rest of the customers like we were a bother. It took 10 minutes before he came back to take our orders. (At this point it's our mistake for having not already walked out) 3. The food.... A. We ordered the calamari app. It was the chewiest and most unsavory dish of this type I have had. Like it was just frozen in a bag that they just cook when needed. B. The fried rice is the absolute worst rice I have had in my entire life. My partner guessed the awful taste comes from oyster sauce, which is our best guess to what could the terrible flavor. C. The salt and pepper fish was actually good. D. The beef and scallion was edible, but not the best. End of review. Do not come here if you want good service. Don't order the rice. Some dishes are decent. Others are hit and miss.

Clear soup with hibachi set up

I come here every week. This place rocks. The employees are so kind and they always take such great care of me and my friends. The hibachi is awesome, the chefs are hilarious and always bring their game. Highly recommend the hibachi steak with fried rice, it can't be beat. I've also tried the sushi several times and it has always been quite tasty. I will continue to come here for the rest of my tenure in Bloomington and highly suggest this place to any hibachi, sushi, or Chinese food lover!

I gave it 3-star for the service. Service was prompt in spite of the busy holiday (Christmas Day). We we're excited that we don't have to go at Chinese restaurant this year & we saw a Japanese restaurant open. I ordered a bento combo & quite not impressed. The teriyaki is not marinated it looks like they just pour the sauce to anything. We wanted hot food but it's warm and the spring roll is mushy. The quality and taste of food is below average. Unfortunately, it didn't passed our taste buds.

Chicken teriyaki, rice, sushi, yum yum sauce, sweet n sour sauce, and I can't remember what the other food item

Excellent experience! Staff were amazing and polite. Very respectful and deserve 1000 stars if possible. Above and beyond. The environment is beautiful and cultured. The food tasted healthy and great! Thank you and much appreciated :D

I originally ordered the General Tso chicken off the lunch menu but immediately noticed that it tasted "off" - way too sour to be flavorful. The entrees were mostly inedible, the chicken had a slimy consistency that made one person in our family gag. I didn't believe them until I tried it myself, almost as if the chicken had been reheated in sauce without frying first. The Mongolian beef had 4 tiny slices of beef, we laughed looking at the entire onion used to replace the meat. Our rangoons had zero filling, not even lack of seafood but almost like they had exploded in the fryer. If it had been any other day, we would have asked for a refund, but it was Christmas Day and we are traveling without the time/ energy to fix this. It was so bad that we ordered pizza and tossed more than half of the food. The hot and sour soup was outstanding, spicy and full of crunchy veggies and tofu. Every other item in our order was inedible. My three stars reflect the excellent service I received while placing and picking up the order, the soup was also very good. Clearly a business that treats their customers well, but wow that was the worst $80 I've ever spent on food.

Excellent Thai restaurant with high marks for food, service, and atmosphere…read more I've tried the Thai fish cakes, sweet and sour saute, pad bus sa ra com, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea and coffee. The savoury dishes were all super flavourful, cooked well, and generously portioned. Maybe this has something to do with the dishes I got, but I think the flavours here are generally more intense than the other Thai restaurants I've tried in Bloomington, and their spice levels might be a little higher. I've been somewhat underwhelmed by level 3 (out of 5) at other places, so I tried level 4 the first time I ordered here, and it was a little too hot, so I went back to level 3 the next time, and it was just right. The Thai tea and coffee were both very good, especially the coffee. It almost tasted chocolatey. The service is consistently on top of it. I was there on Valentine's Day, and they were slammed but had enough staff on the floor for it; the food was quick as usual and everyone was still very friendly. I also love the atmosphere here. The building is one of the converted houses on 4th St, and there are different dining rooms, some with lots of windows, all filled with interesting decor, and there's also a very nice patio during the warmer seasons. The only problem here is, unless there's a back entrance I don't know about, I don't think the building is wheelchair accessible; you have to go up a few stairs to get to the main entrance.

On multiple occasions, I have watched the chefs carefully prepare meals while diligently sanitizing their workspaces after each dish, ensuring a high standard of hygiene is consistently upheld. Maybe a bit of a language barrier with the staff. I asked for jelly in my drink and got tapioca boba instead and generally felt like they didn't really understand what I was saying. I got a tofu rice bowl with miso sauce and a green milk tea with boba. The rice bowl was the perfect size for one meal, and there was a lot of tofu which made it filling. It was simple, with just the protein and sauce over steamed greens and rice, and I felt like it was pretty healthy. It didn't blow me away but it was good! The green milk tea was also good, strong but not too sweet. Some versions of the menu call it matcha but it very much tasted like green tea, not matcha. I think it was from a powder mix but that's fine. Reasonable prices. If I remember correctly, the rice bowl was about $13 and the boba was about $6 including the topping. I liked the food and would definitely eat here again.
