The prices online said 12.50 for breakfast burrito. I ordered that and side of hollandaise sauce. They charged 24 dollars I asked her why since the menu online said 12.50 and she said they were hacked and that's an old menu. Feel like I was ripped off and won't be returning. This restaurant is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. I came in on a Tuesday morning and noticed a weird smell. I was a little reluctant to eat here after looking around and noticing the decor needed some sprucing up and the bathroom needed a deep cleaning. My favorite lunch place now serves dinner!! If you want homemade food this is the place. The focaccia bread is warm and light...so good! It is hard to eat just one piece! I ordered the salmon dinner...OMG! It was so good! The pesto was creamy and complemented the perfectly cooked salmon! I am not a rice eater but I did have the rice pilaf which was also wonderful! My husband ordered the seafood pasta special. He said the savory combination of shrimp, muscles, clams and cod along with the chorizo was fantastic! We were so full but they had a German chocolate cake special that we had to try! Again, another fabulous combination of the warm, fresh out of the oven, German chocolate cake with the delicious vanilla bean ice cream. The best part of the meal was the owners! The staff was very welcoming and able to meet my request for substitutions in my burrito. My grab and go meal was large, delicious and came with a side of fruit. The to go container was biodegradable, and in a paper bag, which is great for the environment! - The space is located in a small strip mall, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had unique decor and a welcoming waiting area with Books to browse while waiting (quick wait). - The parking is free and easy. There is a bathroom on site that was fully stocked with paper products. My only feedback would be to spruce up the decor in the bathroom and reconsider the pricing of add-ons for the burrito. I was disappointed that the fruit was not cut up and the orange slice did not look appealing - ended up throwing the fruit out. Then the potatoes were too salty so I couldn't eat them after a few bites. The eggs were wet and tasted mediocre but at least I got some protein in. I'm on the road and thought a name like bistro would get a simple order down but it did not. For $17 bucks, it was a mistake to come in. Atascadero Bistro has been one of our favorite local spots for breakfast and lunch, we were soooo excited to hear that they are opening for dinner as well. Tonight we finally got to try out their dinner menu and we were not disappointed. We started out with the house made focaccia which was delicious. All their bread is made in house and it never disappoints. My husband ordered the seafood pasta that was on special. This came with a delightful mushroom soup that reminded us of a French onion soup. The pasta dish was beautiful with perfectly cooked shrimp. I had the Creole chicken pasta which was a very generous portion and absolutely delicious. This is a family owned and run restaurant. The service is always fantastic. This husband and wife team is such a gem. So talented and kind. All the wood working in the restaurant is done by the chef. Ok. Some things need to be addressed. My friend and I ordered a breakfast burrito probably 6 months ago and shared it and it was great. We came back today and a few things: 1. The price on Yelp menu says $12.50. 2. The price on AB's website says $13. We got the regular burrito with bacon and asked for pico on the side. 3. Pico was still inside the burrito 4. The burrito's size, consistency, shape and everything was totally different. Consistency is key. You've GOT to keep your food consistent in the restaurant biz. 4. We were charged a total of $19.55 what? How does $13 turn into $19.55? A $20 breakfast burrito is outrageous, inflation or not. The price is listed as $13! The Atascadero Bistro on the El Camino in Atascadero isn't a "bad" restaurant! But why do we go out to eat instead of making a delicious home cooked meal. I love what my Spouse cooks, it tastes great and she makes it appealing with careful plating. These days and on many occasions the "going out to eat" is not only the destination but the event. And as such, we dine out for the entire experience and not just the food. So circling back...the Atascadero Bistro isn't a "bad" restaurant, in fact, the food here is really good (5/5), but it's the lack of everything else that makes the dining experience....well, shall we say, average?! My Yelp brethren ratings suggested this was the "place" if we were in the neighborhood (BTW we were...in the neighborhood, that is) and so we decided to give this local establishment a try. Driving up should have given us a clue as to what was to come, the Bistro is in an old Strip Mall...uninspiring, to say the least. Undaunted...we parked the car and strolled in. The greeting was a bit slow...but with a comment of "let's see if I can find you seating", within 5 minutes our table was ready to be occupied. The Restaurant wasn't overly busy, but a few tables were engaged. The establishment itself, looked to be furnished, built or under construction with unmatched pieces of wood. Our seating was not the most comfortable but more utilitarian. It again, was uninspiring and gave us an odd impression. After being seated, we examined the Menu and found it to be extensive for the venue...yet it didn't "grab" us with "wow" offerings. Perhaps to many offerings, but nothing special...no theme or direction. Regardless, the single Server on this occasion in the entire Bistro, Viviana, was very pleasant and amiable. (I found out as I left...this was the Owner.) We placed our order as follows: Drinks : Mimosas (5/5 - if ordered, you get the glass of Orange Juice w/a small bottle of Champagne) Mains/Hot Sandwiches: Pastrami and Swiss (5/5 - really very "tasty"), Chicken Apple Brie (5/5 - great combination) and Portobello Mushroom (5/5). We also shared some Fries (5/5). The food was delicious and saved the day, so to speak. There were no leftovers, but our hunger was satiated. Everything included, the bill was under 75 dollars. So my Yelp review Readers...you decide. All in all, we weren't enthralled with the complete experience...yes, admittedly the food was good, really good...but we agreed, when we go out for a meal, it's more than just the food. Dining out is a multi faceted experience...the Atmosphere (interior design, furnishings, decor, lighting and perhaps music), the Service, the "buzz" of patrons and yes, the food and value of the meal. Used Yelp to find a local breakfast. Party of 8 we got seated right away. It is a small place but cute. Nice breakfast variety. I had my heart set on the avocado toast. When it arrived in the 3rd batch of food to come out. It was missing the sprouts I was counting on. The waitress said they didn't have any. If she would have said so first I would not have ordered. I ordered the corn waffle with egg, it was good not my favorite. My friends loved the avocado toast even without sprouts. My husband did order a biscuit with a side of gravy..... when she finally remembered 1/2 way through breakfast she brought him 1 1/2 a biscuit. The bottom only (what the heck is that about?) never seen such a thing. Not sure I would recommend or. It, maybe if the waitress was more attentive. In an unassuming location, this charming spot has a clean and friendly atmosphere with limited outdoor seating. I live in the area and have been to every other breakfast spot and wish I'd come in sooner! A family run business 9 years in the making, the hostess/waitress/barista Viv is warm and welcoming. The food is fresh and simple. I had the veggie omelette that came with diced country potatoes and toast. My americano was similarly delicious!
