My mom and I were getting out of town for a few days and heading to Pismo Beach. On our way, we stopped in Paso Robles for a quick lunch at red scooter deli. It's definitely nothing fancy, which is exactly the way we like it. There's plenty of parking and the young lady taking our order was incredibly friendly. We split the BLTA along with some salt and vinegar chips. The sandwich was delicious! Nothing special but everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the bacon was delicious as was the soft tender bread that it was made on. 10 out of 10 for us we would definitely be back. There is no indoor seating just outdoor patio seating which was ample and on hot days it has fans to cool you down. Looking forward to our next visit. Road tripping and in Paso Robles, CA. We wanted breakfast. So we did some internet sleuthing and saw the Red Scooter Deli. So off we went. We ended up at the Red Scoot location on 6th. They have two locations which we found out later. Initially we were headed to the one in downtown. This location on 6th Street is in a retail suburban type of shopping plaza. Plenty of parking. This location has no indoor seating, it's all outdoor patio which is covered. Basic patio, not alot of character or ambiance. But so much potential. As I was sitting enjoying my food; I noticed a lot of folks taking their orders to go and many picking up catering. It's counter service and not particularly roomy inside with folks standing in line and others moving about can get crowded. We ordered a plain toasted bagel with roasted red pepper schmear. They are generous with the spread. Nice! Lactose intolerant me just popped a pill and indulged. And we also ordered a breakfast sandwich on croissant with bacon. Yum. That croissant wasn't flimsy but also not too dense either. The sandwich was picture prefect. Next time I'm in Paso, I'll give their downtown locale a go. read more

Wow this one was good. We were making a round trip from Palo Alto to SLO and needed a quick spot to fuel up both people and vehicle. Looking at the Yelp reviews this place stood out and was close to where we got gas. The Red Scooter Deli is located in a strip mall. There is no seating inside but they do have a covered heated area. There was plenty of parking and the bathrooms were clean The Food: Reubenesque Sandwich: Yes I passed on the kraut as its like cut rate kim che to me. The sandwich itself was excellent. Nice rye bread heaped and I mean heaped with pastrami. Not as much that you have to take it down with a knife and fork but just the right amount. Add to that melty swiss and an excellent thousand island dressing and it was perfect sandwich. The dressing added more richness but the rye and swiss helped balance that out Potato Salad. Nicely chunked with onions and celery, and the perfect amount of mayo and mustard. Yes I smeared some on my sandwich.... So tasty. This place was quite a find and while we do not make stops here often we know have a good reason too read more

Our first meal in Paso Robles. We heard a lot of good reviews of this place and decided to give it a try for lunch. We had mixed feelings about this place. I like the cute and spacious outdoor area which is very dog friendly. Free parkings were abundant and service was quick though a bit impersonal. Our sandwiches took a while to acclimate to our likings. Perhaps it was a taste we were not used to. But we grew to enjoy it after a while. The portion was big and very generous. Oh. My. HEAVENS! I already loved the location downtown for its service, reliability and flavors, but today this (the newer) location (away from the downtown parking confusion) blew me away with the curry chicken salad sandwich. BLEW. Me. AWAY! First, I'm not into fancy sandwiches. I'm generally a simple egg salad or meat-n-cheese or old fashioned PB & strawberry jelly gal. Those do just fine by me. But I've been eating the Thai peanut wrap (tofu as my chosen protein) for years now when work provides sandos from here. Recently, I tasted someone's chicken curry salad sando from here and decided to try a switch. WELL! They went above and beyond since I'm suddenly a PITA gluten-free, dairy-free person (thanks, Body, for that!) and had to ask for substitutions. NO problem here. At my request, they made my meal with the gluten-free wraps they have on hand. They also have gluten-free bread available anytime, and I'll likely try that next time, not because anything was WRONG with the wrap, but because...I can. It's available. Why not try it? The chicken curry salad filling is just the right amount gentle curry and slightly sweet, with fresh veggies (spinach and tomato slices chief among them). It really was a flavor sensation I look forward to enjoying again. Top-notch service, even with a special request. Friendly staff. Convenient parking. There's outside seating here for those who want to stick around, or you can box up your lunch (my box came with a little dressed salad and a G-F chocolate chip cookie) to enjoy anywhere. Came here for lunch for a quick bite to eat before hitting the road. I got a mandarin salad and apparently made an odd request of ordering just a Dutch crutch (not a sandwich). The salad was good. It had too many cranberries for my taste, but otherwise fine with the portions of the other toppings. The dressing didn't feel heavy. I wish the Dutch crutch was more crunchy but the taste made it worth it! It was delicious. It is a busy lunch spot and most tables were taken. The woman behind the counter looks panicked and blurts out "we are too busy to take your order. Come back in two hours." Well, that's one way to run a business. Great deli with all of the traditional options and some good specials. We had the turkey club which was excellent. I think the sliced sourdough is either baked in house or at a nearby bakery because it was fresh and delicious. The service was excellent--the woman taking the orders saw that there were a few people in line, so she quickly opened a second register. Did a pickup order. Ordered a Sweet Cheese which, according to their menu, is supposed to be on Toasted Brioche and contain caramelized onions, but once I went to eat it discovered it had been made with raw red onions (not caramelized) and a white bread roll. There was no indication that substitutions had been made on the receipt or anywhere else so my assumption is that they just made it wrong. Wasn't in a place to go back and the sandwich ended up being ok, but was definitely very different from what I ordered and a little disappointing.
