Joe's Other Place is a regular stop on my trips to the Central Coast to see our grandkids. It's less crowded than Joe's Place in Paso Robles. My favorite is the Bergin. I'm a biscuits and gravy fiend and Joe's is at the top of my list of favorites for that. Atmosphere is like sitting in Joe's kitchen and staff is just great. Road tripping in Templeton, CA. Wanted to grab breakfast at a local place. I chose Joe's... Joe's Other Place. Great community vibe, welcoming feel. Real folks enjoying hearty comfort breakfast served up by real folk with big personalities in a diner environment. The food... I ordered a cup of coffee and Hubs the iced tea. Our waitress never let us see the bottom of our glasses. Very attentive. Even offered to refill the drinks to go. We ordered the 2-2-2 eggs, cakes and bacon plate to share and a side garden salad. Yes a salad for breakfast. Super glad that they served that and didn't have to wait until lunch time.the cakes were huge. Big as my round Charlie Brown head. Yummy tasting with a touch of sweetness. The bacon served crispy. Classic diner style. Plus the waitress didn't even bat an eye, no attitudes about plate sharing. She was terrific. She and the other waitresses were fun and sassy. Pricing- the menu prices are for cash payments. If you pay with a card, it's a 3% additional. It's says so on the menu and this practice is not uncommon. Breakfast menu- Omelettes, biscuits n gravy, eggs Benedict, scramblers, cereal, cinnamon rolls, burritos, huevos, rancheros, machaca, steak ranchero, and chilaquiles. Lunch menu- satisfying sandwiches, greasy spoon burgers and dogs, salads, and homemade chili and soups. The interior looks s comfy and homey. Has the look and feels of eating in someone's home. Lots of folks of varying personalities sitting at the counter bantering with each other and the staff. Giving the place a 5 stars for the whole kit and caboodle of serving up comfort diner eats, price points, sense of community, and welcoming staff n vibes. Everyone had a story, even Joe...The story... Joe's parents, Ted and Esper, owned Lola's restaurant in Paso Robles. Joe had a thought in 1994 to open a great spoon diner serving up good eats to the community. Not just a thought, but realized goal. A year later Joe's Place opened in Paso Robles and in 2006 he moved to Templeton. In 2010, his parents retired and Joe re-opened Joe's Place in Paso Robles. Joe honors his parents by serving up the same chili verde recipe and fresh salsas. Awesome! read more

Unbelievably Delicious! Stopped in just by chance the other morning! First thing first - coffee hot and strong- excellent Ordered the chilaquiles and were delivered to the table absolutely spot on with hash browns that were crispy and a side of refried beans. Food is incredible. Had the Monterey breakfast burrito add bacon with hash-browns, chili verde and ranchero sauce on the side... it might have been the best breakfast I have ever eaten based on flavor alone. Our group got a cinnamon roll to share to top it off... perfection. Service was also amazing and had an old western town vibe. If you are in the area you should visit 11/10. read more

Went to Joe's Place a couple years back, so when we were staying in Templeton and saw there was Joe's Other Place, we knew we could get a solid breakfast. We ordered the Chilaquiles supreme and two egg breakfast to share. We had the Chilaquiles last time so we already knew they'd be good. We asked for our hashbrowns extra crispy and were very happy with how they came out. This place is still good! I actually enjoyed their chilaquiles; they came with plenty of tri-tip, and while the salsa didn't taste particularly Mexican or authentic, it was still flavorful. We were seated right away on a Sunday morning, which was a pleasant surprise. The biscuits and gravy were good, and I really liked the country potatoes. Overall, it was a solid breakfast spot with a nice variety of options. Cost is now about $40 for breakfast for two. read more

We got breakfast burritos to go, and boy are they stingy on the eggs. I got the egg bacon and potato breakfast burrito. Guess what? About 90% of it was ALL POTATOES. I think I literally got 2 whole potatoes and 1 egg in a burrito. It was the worst breakfast burrito. I would not recommend. We decided to not come here the next day and went to our usual place in downtown Paso (Los Robles Cafe) where they don't have 99% potato and 1 egg in a burrito. read more

This restaurant is located in the downtown area of Templeton. There's plenty of street parking and a few spots in the back parking lot. We arrived on a Sunday a little after 9 and were greeted right away. Service is fast and efficient. I ordered the Monterey Omelette which was properly cooked. Update on my previous review as we were in the neighborhood. Food was still good. I had a Lorraine omelette, with bacon, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. My husband had a ham and cheese omelette. We both got crispy hashbrowns, although the home fries looked really good. I got wheat toast and he got an English muffin. The service was great. We sat at the counter because it was packed. Three huge groups. Don't know our servers name, but she was good. Kept my coffee cup filled, and my husband's water glass filled. We left about 10 and the crowd had started to die down. read more

Still an awesome breakfast place! We ordered a cinnamon roll (3.5 Stars) and Biscuits and Gravy (4 Stars) for the table. I ordered the Chile Verde Omelette (3 Stars) with Hash Browns (4.5 Stars) with no beans because who needs that kinda fuel for the long ride home to the bay area.. doh! The Chile Verde was ok, good chucks but not much flavor or heat. I'll try something different next time. I wanted to explore the menu more on this trip but it didn't work out. I usually get the country breakfast stuff, like gravy, sausage, chicken fried steak, bacon, biscuits, etc. which they do sooooo good. The bacon is thick cut with a black seasoned smoke ring. Super good. The sourdough bread (2 Stars) was not that sour, May have been white bread, I'll skip next time, biscuits are the way to go. Until next time... read more

Yikes! I'm a local and have been coming here for years. My son and I came a couple days ago and it was just so bad. Our food (chilaquiles, pancake and a patty melt) were old tasting and arrived cold. My husband suggested this restaurant as he had been here before. Why not, I said. We walked in this quaint little restaurant that I could tell that this is a locals restaurant. It was crowded and I knew it was going to be good. We were sat immediately and menus are on the table. An extensive menu. This was going to be a hard decision. I ended up choosing chicken fried steak, eggs over medium, hash browns and sourdough toast. Frank ordered style of burger and vegetable beef soup. Our food arrived and instantly I knew my stomach couldn't handle all this food. I swear this is the first restaurant that got my eggs perfect. The gravy on the chicken fried steak is delicious and hash browns fried to perfection. The toast is a whole different story. Don't expect a thin piece of toast. Massive thickness. Yummy! Frank's Berger was also served on thick, toasted bread. He devoured it! The soup, that's a whole new level of deliciousness. That did not come from a can! Beyond delicious. Had been in the Templeton area for a doctor's appointment and wanted a nice place for a late breakfast. The gals in the antique shop I stopped at recommended a different restaurant, but there was no parking available so I drove further down the road and luckily there was one parking spot left at Joe's. I had never been here before so I perused the menu for something to order that was a bit unusual. I found it in the "Gorilla" burger. It came on Texas Toast. I was concerned that the bread wouldn't hold up to a large burger, but it was fine!! The burger was juicy and tasty and the fries were acceptable (but not spectacular). I ordered a side salad that was good with Blue Cheese dressing. I would definitely come here again if I was in Templeton. This is definitely a locals place, they have a bar where people can sit instead of at tables. I chose not to sit there since I am still a bit COVID shy and didn't want to sit that close to other people. Locals were there chatting up the waitress. I felt badly for her, though, because she has to put up with these guys hitting on her all the time!! I suppose that goes with the territory working in a small town diner style restaurant. Families, couples, and singeltons were dining here while I was there. More expensive than I would like, but these days it is hard to find a restaurant that is affordable. So, While on vaca with the Mrs. we were driving through Templeton and came across this little diner. I must say, "My stomach was happy we did!" From the awesome service, to the support of Armed Forces...this place reminds me of my childhood. The menu is simple and mouth watering. I ordered a Sausage patty with hash browns. My wife ordered the biscuits and country gravy. They have all your home cooked favorites. The food is a reasonable price. The salsa was superb. If you're ever driving through Templeton on Main St. please stop in for a good traditional breakfast and great service, you won't be disappointed. I'll definitely be back again. Second time here, lucky enough to sit next to the same old-timer as before, local Larry, on his birthday today! The staff had balloons for him- like who does that!?!? I love this place- it's so personable and small town. I mean, everyone sang happy birthday to him! And the Huevos Rancheros, just DELISH!! I highly recommend a breakfast burrito smothered in Chile Verde with a side of salsa. Every bite is delicious! The San Francisco scramble was an outstanding perfect balance of protein. There is nothing wimpy about Wimpy's special. Try either one or something else. I don't think you'll be disappointed. We usually go to the Joe's in Paso and after our visit with this location, we will only go to Joe's in Paso. Our waitress was fine, she was nice, prompt and the food came out quick. But... The portions were half of what you get in Paso. 1 piece of toast instead of 2, very small serving of hash browns and only 2 weak pieces of bacon. The eggs weren't cooked properly and were slimy. The real issue I had with this location is what the younger waitress with curly hair did. We watched her clear dirty dishes and cups with gloves on then proceed to serve orders with the same gloves on. She then started wiping down tables, then the seats, THEN the foot of the table on the floor and use the same towel to wipe down other tables! Watched her do this a few times and decided right then and there we'll never come back. read more

Our 2nd time here. Very worthy of a review. I got the country scramble after seeing a couple next to us order it. A serious heap of deliciousness on one plate: scrambled eggs, country sausage gravy with chopped crispy bacon on top. I picked hash browns and not country cubed potatoes as the base. They bake their own biscuits, so I picked that. It was fresh out of the oven, had to let it cook. Hub got the ham steak, eggs over easy with country potatoes and sourdough toast. The servers wore masks and disinfected the table top and condiments. One random customer came in and seated himself without a mask. Everyone else wore masks until their food arrived. Ask for a cinnamon roll to go-you won't have room! I ate about 1/3 of my plate. And 1/2 the biscuit. read more

A friendly smile, acknowledgment, be right with you - goes a long way. Stood at the door with 4 empty tables available for several minutes while one of the two (seemingly overwhelmed) waitresses buzzed around clearing tables and delivering food and then buzzed right around us and out the door for a larger party waiting to be seated. Upon return.. "what'd you need" seeming relatively irritated by our presence and upon my response of two for lunch - eye contact ended and as she walked away "gimme a min". Lady you can have all day.. Thought this was "Joes", not "Karen's". We all have bad days.... I love coming to Joe's Place for breakfast. It's a total local vibe and a great place to grab breakfast with friends. It's low key and staff is so friendly and attentive. I really enjoy a classic breakfast with bacon and eggs but if I'm feeling extra hungry I'll order their Chorizo Supreme with tortillas. read more
