ATC South is part of At the Corner. Once upon a time it was a hair salon, but now it's a taco themed eatery. It's not a huge amount of space, but doesn't feel too crowded. Lots of reds, and lots of colors. Definitely a fan of the decor. The tacos are a great size, and you definitely get your money's worth. The El Gringo, for example, was overflowing and I had to pick up the leftovers with my fork! They share restrooms with regular At the Corner, and there's an interior entrance to the bar area. ORIGIN: ATC South, as the name suggests, is an annex of Litchfield's long-established @ the corner restaurant. South references the street, and perhaps direction of its culinary inspiration, rather than its relative geographical position. It opened in late 2021 in a space that had most recently served as a hair salon. LOCATION: ATC South is accessible from a door on South Street, as well as by walking west across the parent restaurant. CONCEPT: The small restaurant serves Asian and Latin-inspired food and beverages. ATC South strives to bring uncommonly found flavors to NW Connecticut, a goal supported by @the corner's executive chef, Carlos Perez, and head bartender, Alfie Gonzalez. AMBIANCE: The space is a long and narrow room that is speckled with vibrant colors and "fun" lighting. Opposite bar seating is a row of wide upholstered banquettes. At the entrance there are three high top tables with window view. The space feels intimate, while simultaneously conducive to interacting with other guests --- a perfect combination for an extension of a long-established community restaurant. EXPERIENCE: I sat in one of the upholstered banquettes, which was very comfortable and ordered two tacos. I wasn't sure if this would be sufficiently satisfying for dinner, and was informed by the server that customers typically order two. For this first visit I tried the Pork Belly and Beef Barbacoa tacos. Both were generously filled with multiple flavorful (but not spicy) and textural components, making them tasty, but clumsy to eat --- especially when engrossed in conversation. Thankfully these were served on a small metal rimmed tray, so some of the dropped ingredients could be captured. Pork belly appears to be increasingly popular on menus, and the pork belly was not as I had anticipated-- a fatty, moist rendition --but rather more like cubes of smoked, meaty pork. To accompany the tacos I ordered a Blood Orange Margarita. This cocktail was attractively adorned with a dried slice of blood orange and black salt rim.. very Halloweeny. The juice was prepared, rather than freshly squeezed as I had hoped, but understandable given the restaurant size and shared kitchen limitations. There are many enticing creative cocktails and mocktails on the menu, making ATC South a worthy destination in itself. The two tacos were indeed satisfying, but I felt a first visit (and review) wouldn't be complete without trying one of the shareable nacho starters. The menu's featured Basura Nachos come in two sizes and different meats can be added for an extra fee. The party size is just a few dollars more and is ceremoniously presented. The nachos appear to be house made and are crisp and thick. Really an entire meal for two can be made out of this starter! My only disappointment was that the guacamole had been prepared much earlier as it had an olive green color, so it lost some appeal to me. Again, this is likely a necessity due to two restaurants sharing a kitchen. TIPS: On Tuesdays there are discounts on some tacos and beverages. The South Street entrance requires walking up several steps. Consider using a fork and knife for tacos, and requesting additional napkins. ATC South is currently closed on Mondays, opening at 4 PM on weekdays and 2 PM on weekends. Extended closing hours (until 10 PM) on Friday and Saturday. Take out is available. A variety of canned craft beers and sugar-based Mexican sodas are available in the refrigerator case. read more

The service was good , but the food was lacking any seasoning! Guacamole was totally bland. Salsa was essentially chopped up tomatoes with barely any red onion again completely not flavorful and the cheese dip again was average at best. The chicken corn and bean soup was very thin and needed 2 to 3 times as much beans, corn and chicken, the soft tacos fell apart in your hand, and ended up having to be eaten with a fork.... all in all unfortunately we were looking forward to this place and would not return. read more

I had heard good things about ATC South Street from my coworkers, so I was really excited to visit with my mom for dinner! My mom was obsessed with the coconut margarita she had here and said it was the best she's ever had! I really liked my strawberry hibiscus Agua Fresca too. Each order of tacos came as a single taco, but you truly didn't need more than that because they were filled generously. Loved the street corn dip, and I thought the birria quesadillas were really tasty too! It was a nice vibe there, and our server was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed a Saturday night dinner at this taco restaurant. It is an additional eatery next to At the Corner. I selected two of the specialty tacos to try - Fried Green Tomato and Miso Pork Belly. Each was packed with goodies and the sauce and seasonings were oh so good. My husband went for the build-your-own taco and also enjoyed his selections. It took some time for the food to arrive so employ your patience but the wait is worth it for some very good tacos. I hope they continue to be successful here. It's nice to have this alternative in Litchfield. There is a full bar available. We also found the wait staff to be attentive. read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times in the past ~6 months (we usually like to try new places and this place isn't terribly close to us, so going to frequently is not typical for us). I am confident in saying that this is my favorite place for tacos within 30 minutes of Woodbury (ok, maybe that isn't a high bar, but this place is still very good!). The menu has extremely interesting taco options, which is probably the main thing I'm looking for when I go out for tacos- this isn't your standard unimaginative handful of taco choices. They completely overhauled the menu by the time we came for our third visit. This was good and bad for me, as I absolutely LOVED the tuna seaweed taco from their first menu (which was no longer on the new menu), however the new options were also very tasty. I hope they do continue overhauling the menu so I can try new things (but also bring back the seaweed tuna one for a bit!). The prices for food are reasonable; the tacos are stuffed very well and cost about $8 each--- 2 different tacos is the perfect amount for a meal. Drinks are a bit more pricy but they also taste good. Desserts and apps were tasty as well (and these also changed significantly with the menu). My main knock against this place is that there are not many tables and we had to wait quite a bit on a Friday night to be seated (I would think it would be a good idea to seat you in the space next door if there is available seating). read more

It's "Taco Tuesday" and "National Margarita Day", cliche I know... but I was just looking for an excuse to try the New local Mexican spot they've added to @at the corner. Holy guacamole, what a disappointment. We ordered two spicy mango margaritas... they certainly weren't mango and they also forgot the spice. Immediate fail... so I sent our drinks back hoping maybe they just brought the wrong drinks to our table... second round is delivered and still can't taste the mango... also the "spice" they used tastes maybe like chipotle?? Somewhat Smokey not entirely spicy..... my boyfriend ended up ordering one of their specialty cocktails off their menu which he did was was much much better. Finally a win. For the food, we wanted to order chips and guacamole to start and asked how much it would be to order salsa along with that. Our server informed us we would be charged for both apps separately.. they offer an "all in" option for $14 which includes the salsa, guacamole, queso, and chili so we decided do go with that. Imagine the most basic rendition of each of these dips and then lower your expectations from there. Salsa was not salsa.. more like pico, chili tasted like it was from a can, guacamole was fine, nothing exceptional, and queso was alright as well... but there was nothing to rave about. This is a nice spinoff from their already award winning establishment. Nice little bar area with very experienced bartenders that will make you anything you want. They have a nice list of craft cocktails they came up with but they are very receptive to what you like in particular and will spin you up something specific to your liking. Food takes a little bit to arrive but it's also made to order. We've been here twice now and had a blast both times. The quesabirria if that's how it's spelled lol was my favorite of the tacos. It's a braised short rib taco with a dipping sauce that accompanies it. Delicious! The place is new and still evolving but certainly worth a try if you are in the area. read more

This new place opened up fairly recently and is a joint space with @ the Corner. ATC South St is a taco and cocktail bar with a great modern atmosphere. It's small inside, beautifully decorated, and very clean. I love the tapas style menu. There are tacos and small bites to choose from. We had a chicken taco, a tuna taco, and a short rib taco. We also shared baked yucca fries. I had wine and my husband had a bourbon cocktail which were both great! We enjoyed it. The menu is small which is fine. I would have liked a few more things to choose from but the concept of this place is great and If you want a quick bite this is the perfect place. read more

That being said, service is a 2 out of 5, bartenders do not pay attention to their customers and food is extremely slow to be served. Maybe newness and bugs but I don't see improvement coming. We ate here last night for the first time and were blown away by the experience. The interior design is on par with any upscale taqueria in the city and the atmosphere feels very warm and energized, complete with a solid music selection that gently flirts with a club vibe without being too loud or overpowering. It's a small space which makes it feel intimate, particularly if you're sitting at the bar like we were. The biggest draw is undoubtedly the handcrafted drinks, and sitting at the bar gives you a first class mixology show as the talented bartenders whip up unique and inventive libations that would please even the pickiest of cocktail snobs. And speaking of bartenders, they truly are the best in the business. Not only are they at the top of the drink game, they also go out of their way to make you feel welcome with impeccable service and great conversation. We each enjoyed a taco and shared the basura nachos (side note: if you're a nacho fan, definitely order these...the chips are super thick and crunchy which means they actually hold up and don't get soggy under the weight of all the delicious layers of melty cheese, pico de gallo and guacamole). Bottom line: this is a fantastic and much-needed addition to the northwest corner with excellent cocktails and fantastic food. Come here for a date night and make sure to sit at the bar so you can watch your drinks being created. Not a good spot for kids. read more

Olivia is a really great bartender. She's attentive and has a really great personality. Makes you feel welcome, which is very hard to find at times when you sit at a bar. Second time here. Concept is great, lots of potential, unfortunately still a lot of work to be done. The tacos are very large, presentation is meh, was hoping for more authentic tacos, even with the eclectic options..but these tacos were overstuffed and bulky. The salsa is made up of chopped up tomatoes that could be diced, the salsa is chopped up so large it doesn't fit on chips and the container it's served in is almost the size of half dollar coin..the chips don't fit in it. We ordered a pizza but once ordered was put in we were later told they had no tortilla flatbreads to make pizza and if we'd like to reorder, we did. But then our food was so staggered in coming out we had to cancel the replacement order because it was taking 1/2 hour for the replacement to come (just a salad) Servers were eating chips at the pass in the back, and runners were carrying buckets of something with dirty dishes around dining area. Although service is slow (note it's just one chef trying to do it all) drinks are great, but very pricy.$15 and up for a mixed drink. I would recommend going and getting drinks at bar for atmosphere.
