Was visiting the area of Litchfield and selected SWG for dinner. We were not disappointed and actually was pleasantly surprised with the quality and preparation of the food. Dana, our waitress, was wonderful, pleasant and attentive to our needs. The jumbo shrimp cocktails were fresh, large and delicious. The house salad was fresh and the salad dressing made it even better. Yummy! Selected the rare peppered tuna which came out perfectly prepared along with veggies and rice or potatoes. Finished with the churro/ice cream dessert which was overwhelming and delicious. The only downside was the room we sat in was a bit tight and nothing special but will be back for the food and service and sit outside next time! read more

In early January 2025, the owners closed it, renovated the interior, substantially overhauled the menu and then re-opened a week ago as Sage and Salt. We'll be reviewing the "new" restaurant, so this rating above is just about meaningless now. read more

I and my women group were there doing the month of December. Although I don't remember what everyone had, I do remember what I had; the scallops!! They were out of this world. This was my pick for my fancy birthday dinner with my husband this year. My husband got a beer and I had the Dirty Harry Martini because I was craving something spicy. I was disappointed. It had a cayenne pepper rim which was not listed on the menu. I like spice but after I took my first drink cayenne pepper got washed into the martini and made it gritty and unpleasant. I would have requested that to be left off if it had been listed on the drink menu. We then shared the Raw Bar sampler. The oysters, shrimp, tuna and salmon were fresh and tasty. It also came with clams which were raw. I have never had raw clams and honestly didn't know this was a thing. My husband and I both had 1 and thought they were gross. Our waitress did tell us next time we could ask to substitute for extra oysters instead so we'll certainly do that. I hade the steak au poivre with potatoes and veggies, cooked medium rare. I ate the entire thing! It was cooked and seasoned well. My husband had the fish and chips and was very pleased. The ambiance was lovely, a fire was lit and the lighting was dim. let me start by saying this restaurant delivers on four star quality food, I will explain my 3 star review later. extensive menu of fresh seafood, meats and vegetarian dishes. started with the beer battered artichoke hearts, very lightly fried a delicious way to start the evening pairing it with a glass of pinot grigio served with some mayo for dipping although I would suggest adding some sriracha to the mayo for more flavor. the special for the evening was a stuffed sole with lobster, sun dried tomatoes and breading very tasty, moist and delicious served with rice and veggies. the chicken scampi was also outstanding, very generous portions and just the right amount of scampi flavor and sauce. too full for any deserts but they looked amazing as well. now for the 3 stars... 6:30pm reservations nearly an empty restaurant the hostess tells me that my table is in the covered porch area just outside the restaurant. I asked if we can sit inside and she said no the tables were taken. the porch would have been nice on a warm summer night but not in 60 degree temps. when we left at 8pm there still no people sitting in the table inside so the hostess lied. I just do not understand why restaurants would serve such great food and want their customers sitting outside with their feet in a puddle of water during a meal...that was the only disappointing thing about this restaurant hence the 3 stars. next time I will make sure I can dine inside or else I will go elsewhere. read more

We bought a Groupon since we love seafood and we were looking for a new place to try. The Groupon deal seemed a great value - an appetizer to share, soup or salad, and an entree. Food - The food was alright and nothing special. We love raw oysters and the menu mentioned you had the choice of two sauces. However, the waitress left before we could ask for our choice and got the standard cocktail sauce. We then got the clam chowder and house salad which were very good. The house onion dressing is flavorful without being too strong. I got the baked cod with the house potato and veggies and it was very bland. Drinks- easily the best part of our meal. I had a Moscow mule while my boyfriend had a bourbon drink with orange and maple syrup. The bartender clearly knows how to make a tasty drink. Avoid sitting near the raw bar at all costs. You'll constantly hear the waitstaff say "corner" when they're going into the kitchen area to avoid running into other staff. It's distracting and somewhat unprofessional (some staff were yelling quite loudly) given the nice setting of the restaurant. We may come back but only to get apps and drinks. read more

My husband and I used to frequent the restaurant a few years ago and found it to be going down hill. Having said that we gave it a try last night and were pleasantly surprised! First off the bartender Tommy was awesome and the drinks were on point! From the raw bar apps to dessert everything was delicious! This is an excellent restaurant. The food and service are excellent. The noise level is quite low.

Very spotty service. Everything you have to ask for including the bread twice, salt-and-pepper shakers, oysterets and horseradish for the clams and on and on. The claims and oysters were fresh and after that everything down hill. The muscles must've been sitting there all day and just dipped in hot water before serving and was very overcooked as was: lobster tails. Could not wait to leave and not go back. read more

SWG is our go to HH place on Fridays. The food and drinks are delicious and affordable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the staff wonderful, especially our 5 star server Dana!! We had a special dinner here for my husband's birthday and it was excellent as usual. We started with salads - he had the caesar and I had the beet salad (yellow beets!) - both very tasty. We then moved on to Oysters, Saltafeller, crab cake and something else (I forget now). We love the vibe of Saltwater Griller - Dana, our server, was very friendly and attentive. We live in town and return here often...usually take out but dine in for special days. I'm sorry some folks have not had a good experience but they have never let us down. read more

We have been to this restaurant several times and liked it but tonight was definitely worth a review. We sat at a table in the bar section. The waitress was good. No bread was placed on our table. I ordered grilled shrimp and scallops for 34 dollars. What I received was 4 scallops and 3 shrimps. 1/2 cup of brown rice and a 1/2 cup of vegetable julienne. The amount of fish was so small that it looked lost on the plate. Here's a tip to the owner if your going to serve next to nothing put it on a smaller plate. Went there for my wedding anniversary dinner, made reservations even though they said they weren't busy at that time. I've been here before, had a positive experience the last time I was here. Ordered apps and dinner, service was kinda slow considering there were only 3 or 4 dinner parties there at the time. I ordered the crusted Dijon chicken, was very flavorful, the plate was a little busy looking but overall it was good. Ahi tuna app was excellent! Wife ordered chowder, said it was very good. We go to SWG occasionally and it's always a big party of 12 or more (with separate checks). We had Tammy as our our server, last night. Just want to say, she's the BEST! Our big group goes out every Friday & there's usually some glitch with our checks or our meals. Not with Tammy. Everyone gets what they ordered & our checks are spot on! Nice place. Good beer. The Mac & cheese was the best I've ever had out. The bruschetta was an epic fail. It was a loaf of garlic bread with mozzarella minus the garlic. Pink colored tomatoes. I really wanted to like the Saltwater Grille but I was disappointed. To begin with the wine was warm. Red wine should be around 60 degrees, not the temperature of a warm room. The charcuterie plate was a plate with 2 cold pieces of cheese. The Brie was underripe. I'm not sure why the platter included a 1/4 cup of mustard. There were 4 slices of salami, 3 kinds of crackers, sliced olives and artichokes. I had the sea bass special. The sauce was great but only 3 small pieces of sun dried tomatoes. DH had the ravioli with lobster and truffles. He found it bland. The service was attentive. As far as ambiance it was ok, nothing exceptional. read more
