Needed plumbing service for a half-bath to full bath conversion and came across Atech (Joe). Service has remained excellent since initial consults and through plan drawing and remodeling. We hit a bit of a delay with permitting, but I expect that to be resolved in short order. All in all, Joe, Amanda, Jack and the rest of the team have been great--they offered great service at decent price, and patiently worked with me (the howeowner and "contractor") through the project. We really wanted to like these guys. We had them install a tankless water heater. That actually went well. But services past that have actually caused our family headaches in many ways. We kept trying to give them the benefit of the doubt even after a grossly overcharged visit but most recently, their techs forgot to reconnect our water heater upon leaving (they brought the wrong parts and couldn't fix the problem) so we were stuck over the weekend with no hot water and no response. There are too many plumbing companies in our area to continue to use one that just can't seem to provide quality service at a decent price and NOT leave you in the lurch. We paid more than $58,000 to replace the plumbing in our duplex in 2022. The bid said, "This bid includes installing all new drain piping for both units and connecting it to the existing main sewer line.... Includes replacing the plumbing in (3) bathrooms, (1) kitchen sink and (1) washer, as needed." Three years after the work was done, we found out that the copper drainline from the sink of one of the bathrooms had fallen out of the cast-iron wet vent and was dumping water between the walls. This section of the house was built in 1949, so this was not a surprise. Atech was very quick to send out a crew and even quicker to say that because the leak involved an air vent, it was not their responsibility. By their logic, the drain line from this bathroom was not included in the work to replace the drain lines from the bathrooms because it was also a vent pipe. What hurt was that we paid a premium because we needed a plumber who would help us with an old house and avoid these kinds of issues. We are not construction experts. We trusted Atech. We were left with a precarious system that predictably failed. Then we were treated to a weekend of silence and an explanation that the bid was really just for the plumbing under the house. (There was no mention of this in the bid.) Worst of all, the plumbers cut multiple holes into that same wall to replace the supply lines to the sink in 2022. It could have been and was an easy fix. But not by Atech. Atech does great work and charges a premium. But don't fool yourself, like we did, and think that means they will take care of you. read more

WARNING: Do Not Hire ATech Plumbing -- Serious Theft and No Accountability I feel compelled to warn others in the Austin area against using ATech Plumbing, owned and operated by Joe Arce. Our experience with this company was not only unprofessional -- it was devastating. In June 2022, ATech sent a plumber named Mike Moody to our home to repair a leaky faucet. He left without completing the job properly--and far worse, after his visit, we discovered that more than $50,000 worth of personal jewelry had been stolen from our home. These included irreplaceable family heirlooms and my engagement ring. We immediately filed a police report. A portion of the jewelry was eventually recovered at a local pawn shop--sold under Mr. Moody's name. There is currently an active warrant for his arrest. Mr. Moody never returned to work at ATech, and his whereabouts remain unknown. What's even more disturbing is ATech Plumbing's response--or lack thereof. Despite being informed of the situation in detail, owner Joe Arce failed to take any meaningful responsibility for the damages we suffered. After initially agreeing to help cover some of the costs, he ignored multiple emails and calls and eventually accused us of extortion when we followed up. In total, after insurance, we had over $12,000 in material losses, not to mention the stress and sense of personal violation that came with the theft. To make matters worse, we later discovered that a different plumber ATech had previously sent to our home also had a criminal record. This speaks to a clear lack of vetting, oversight, and care when it comes to hiring employees who are entering customers' private homes. ATech Plumbing claims on their website to be "the plumbers Austin trusts" -- that could not be further from the truth. They failed to protect their customer, failed to vet their employees, and when things went wrong, they failed to make it right. If you value your home, your safety, and your peace of mind, do not hire ATech Plumbing. read more

When things began to thaw after the winter storm, we found water coming up from the kid's bathroom floor. I immediately shut the water off at the main and got on the phone in search of a plumber. Considering all the plumbing emergencies, finding a plumber proved to be quite difficult. We managed to get on a few waiting lists, but Joe was the first to provide any direct personal attention. Atech was about the 6th place we called and Joe went over and above the call of duty by walking me through some troubleshooting to get a handle on our situation, which turned out to be a slab leak as well as a leak at the shutoff valve. They got us on their schedule with the understandable disclaimer that our time slot could not be guaranteed due to the extenuating circumstances. As we waited for our turn, we received notice from other plumbers that it would be at least two weeks before they could get to us. Nick arrived at our house about a week after our initial contact (only one day off schedule), assessed the situation, and got the pipes capped, so we had some water. He gave us a quote for repairs and proceeded with rerouting lines. After turning the water back on for the first time since the thaw, we discovered another leak in the master bath! Nick discussed it with Joe and did extra work to get everything repaired the next day while honoring the original quote. Both bathrooms and the water heater were rerouted with new Pex tubing and no busting up our slab. I cannot give Atech high enough praise for their handling of this. We had a valve break off inside our kitchen due to the freezing temps of snowpocalypse 2021 and not only did the owner of Atech plumbing take our call late in the evening - unlike the 5 plumbers we called before him, he was kind an empathetic despite the absolute chaos. Our appointment slot was delayed a few days due to the overwhelming number of plumbing nightmares around town but we were kept up to date and informed every single day and never once felt forgotten. The owner even shot me a text when he missed my call one afternoon and then followed up with a call when he was available. We've been renovating for 2 years and I've never received such excellent communication from any other contractor or craftsman working on our house. Our plumber arrived around 5:45 this evening with his mask on properly and completed our repairs in less than a half hour for an incredibly fair price. On the morning of July 2, our bathroom water faucet was running in a steady stream even when the faucet was turned off and the valve under the sink was turned off. There was no way to stop the flow. We needed a plumber as quickly as we could get one. We called numerous companies with no response or we were told it would be after the holiday before anyone could come out. Then we called Altech Plumbing and was greeted by a friendly voice of a real person who told us she would schedule someone to come out the same day. She sent an email and a phone call with the time; between 1 and 5. By 10:30 a technician who was already in the area was knocking on the door to fix our problem. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. I was connected to Joe with Atech Plumbing through a mutual friend after the Texas Snowpacalypse in 2021 when my tankless water heater started gushing water any time I turned on the water in my house. My third son was born literally the day before and I was in tears from exhaustion after having no power, no water, a new-born, and then, no hot water. Joe ran a master's class in how to treat a customer who had nothing left to give. He talked me off the ledge and assured me that he would get me a new water heater from his next shipment that he was slated to receive. Joe was extra communicative during this time as we (as a community) dealt with the aftermath of the storm. Just as an update, you'll find this amazing. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about the lack of completion of my plumbing problem. It had been a month. As soon at Atech found out about my complaint, all of a sudden the parts they had been waiting on starting falling out of the sky. They were so concerned that it had been a whole month since they had been out to complete the project, they just didn't know what to say. Once I again expressed my dissatisfaction, they sent me an email stating they were finished with me and would just mail me the parts they had previously ordered to fix my plumbing problem. This is after they disassembled my bathroom faucets (two) and left my bathroom faucets unusable. Now you know why I don't think going local is the best option. read more

Ive use them before when I needed a water softener for our new home in Pflugerville. They did such a good job that they ended up installing water softeners for my friends and family members. Joe and his crew spent about 7 days in our home re-piping every hot and cold line, replacing two tankless water heaters and adding a water softener. His crew was prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. They took great care cutting holes in our sheetrock, saving and labeling each piece to make the repair job easier. We got top notch service at a fair price and the work was done perfectly. We needed our guest bathroom shower fixed and I did not have a plumber. The valves and faucet needed to be rebuilt which was a pretty big job. Our family would like to recommend Joe Arce as a plumber, and more specifically as master plumber/ leak detector officionato. Joe was recommended to us by a friend back in September when we needed a plumber to inspect 1966 cast iron pipes for breakage or damage before buying an old house. Many months later, we had a mystery flood throughout the downstairs and Joe came back over to our aid and rescue. He was able to diagnose where the water came from and helped us figure out what may have caused such a huge surge to come out of the pipes in the first place. Well, his diagnosis was right and a few hours and some roto-rootering later our system was unclogged and back in action. Joe was very professional, punctual, and seemed to care about our best interests rather than his bottom line. I was referred to Atech Pluming for a slab leak. I was able to figure out exactly where the leak was coming from and the only fix was to cap off the copper line and run a new pen line through the attic. Not only did I figure out where the leak was, I also made all the necessary holes in the wall and cabinets to keep from having to do Sheetrock repairs. They knew before they came out all the parts they would need to do the repair. The repair guy came out, I showed him the problem, opened the walls for them, he capped the pipe that day but said he didn't bring the pex to fix the problem so a second trip ($) had to be made. When it was all said and done, I was charged $1500 for 6 hours worth of work, which could have been completed in 1 day and 4 hours had they brought the parts that should have been brought the first time. I was told that this was a $3000 job all day long but they were cutting me a break. Being in construction, I couldn't help but notice that they didn't insulate any of the new 30' of pex pipe that was installed and being that the new pex line was less than 1/2" from the outside of the stud, no metal pipe protectors/stud guards were put in place to protect it from the nails or screws used to replace the Sheetrock. These items missed should have been known by a beginner plumber. The following weekend, I helped a friend locate and fix another slab leak ourselves, yes it took 9 hours, but the cost was $85. I can't even imagine what Atech would have charge, so glad I didn't recommend them. Buyer beware, get more than quote!! read more

Everybody knows it's hard to find a contractor you can trust. Well when it comes to plumbing, the search is over. Joe Arce is a top notch professional. He's friendly, highly knowledgable, and honest. I'd gladly work with him again. Joe came out to my house because I have roots invading some pipes near a tub. The plan was originally to send a camera down the and have a look. After asking a few questions and inspecting the drain in the tub, Joe told me that there's no need to use the camera. He was sure the roots were the issue and that using the camera would be a waste of my time and money. On top of that he took the time to explain to me what the situation was with the roots, where they likely were, and what my options were to treat the situation. He even drew my diagrams.
