As an artist myself, I think they had great materials! I love all the art in the underground parking lot and was pretty neat! Service was I went to the checkout and saw a squishy that caught my attention, then the cashier said they had needohs !! I immediately asked for him to show me, HE HAD THE MINI NEEDOHS !!! I asked for one and left. HIGHLY RECCOMEND !!!! (BTW the art materials were exactly what I needed)

Every brush here has more personality than most people on Melrose…read more In a city where every "artist" now thinks Procreate on an iPad counts as a medium, Blick Art Materials is one of the last true temples of real creation. Walk in here and you can smell the ambition, acrylic, and caffeine. It's like stepping into a time capsule where brushes still matter, ink still stains, and creativity doesn't come with a subscription fee. The value here and the prices were super reasonable. I came here with my draftsman, a guy who still draws by hand -- a dying breed in a world that runs on Ctrl+Z. Watching him walk these aisles was like watching a monk in a cathedral. Every shelf, every pen, every tube of paint is curated chaos. And the best part? The staff actually care. They know the difference between gouache and watercolor -- and they don't judge you for mispronouncing it. Friendly service, clean restrooms (a small miracle in Los Angeles), and a selection so deep it could inspire Picasso's ghost to start over. From sketchbooks to sculpting tools, markers to mat cutters, they've got everything you need to make something real -- or at least look like you tried. Blick's been around since 1911, and this Beverly Blvd location has kept L.A.'s art scene supplied through every phase -- from punk flyers to NFT hangovers. It's an institution, and it deserves to stay that way. Blick Art Materials is a love letter to real art in a copy-paste world. The service is friendly, the aisles are inspiring, and the supplies are top-notch. If you make anything with your hands, your heart, or even just a stubborn sense of nostalgia -- support this place. Because when shops like this vanish, so does a little bit of the soul of Los Angeles. Support this place -- or someday the only "art supplies" left will be ring lights. Blick is where real artists shop while influencers pretend to paint.

I have never ever left anything but good reviews on here, but the experience I just had with Cane &…read moreBasket Supply left me feeling genuinely taken advantage of and insulted. I brought two cane cesca style chairs to this place for a repair quote on January 5th. When I arrived, Susan and Fred quoted me approximately $85-90/chair, they also volunteered that they would even polish the legs where the chrome was rusting. The quoted timeline was approx. 2 weeks. Sounds great! Next step they said would be a follow up call in one week with an exact quote once their guy was back in and could look at them. No call. I followed up myself two weeks later, and was told it would be an additional 2 weeks. No quote yet. Ok, no problem, I said. They must be busy. 6 weeks later, still no call. I followed up again on 2/13 and was finally given a quote - $400 - over double the original quoted price. I pointed this out to Susan on the phone and her verbatim response was "I'm sorry numbers are confusing." I swear to god lol. They came down to $300 all-in after seeing I was clearly unhappy with the price gouging, but that is still $100 over their original quote! When I went to pick up the chairs - first, the legs were not polished as Susan and Fred originally promised. Their demeanor, including Everado, was instantly hostile as they snickered at me despite the fact that I was nothing but polite. I wanted to say "What is going on here? How old are you and what makes you think it's ok to treat someone, let alone a customer like this?" I'm the youngest person of the three of them by about 30 years probably and they were acting like poorly behaved children. Maybe they felt they could get away with treating me like this because of my age? A final slap in the face, when I went to pay, I asked if they took credit card, to which they said "yes, but it will charge us a fee." Ok, I said, fine with me. Everado then insisted that I pay via Zelle or cash, despite them admitting to having the capability to take credit card. The message essentially being "yes, we take credit card, but not for you". If there's another place that does this in LA, I'd say go there. The work they do is fine, even good, but save yourself the pain of having to deal with these grown up children.

Most excellent service never made a mistake. Served me for six years and weekly order wonderful…read morepeople.

The word wow comes to mind!!!!…read more I would encourage anyone to at least go inside this store and ask a few questions. You will be pleasantly surprised by all that you can learn in such a short time. If you're passionate about ink, calligraphy, anything that has to do with writing, specialized, stationary, cards made by local artists may be even by one of the employees for a variety of occasions. This is the place to come. My description is only a brief list of the Services and products that they offer. Fernanda it's not only knowledgeable, but definitely the pen expert in the building. She kindly and patiently explained to me the differences between length, width, color and materials when it comes to penmanship. I had the pleasure of also utilizing their gift wrapping services, which is also something I highly recommend. They have some wonderful choices in the store, but you can also bring your own, which I definitely did. I love how all the prices are clearly labeled for every item even the smallest of attachments. This let someone immediately know the value of an item and what is required to obtain the goals for a project that someone is pursuing.

I love that the beautiful store is organized by color (I'm very type A) making it so easy to find exactly what you need. Prices are comparable to other high end stationers and the quality of the paper goods are outstanding. I was helped by Fernanda, who was so lovely and went out of her way to find me the perfect lined pad for every day use. I'll definitely be back!

Sonya and Dave were so helpful from the moment I reached out! They handled all of the party prep, running of the event, and even provided snacks and drinks for our party. Sonya patiently managed a Wax & Wicks Workshop for a group of 13 kids (ages 5-7). She fostered such a fun and creative environment, keeping tasks age appropriate, and answering countless questions from the group. As the parent of the celebrant, I couldn't be more thankful for Sonya's help and professionalism. She cared so much about making sure I had zero stress throughout the whole process and day! She really is the best! Will absolutely be coming back for workshops (both for adults and kids) and would certainly have another event here in the future!

We bonded too over our love of Hawaii, and spoke on our adventures there, whale watching, ABC Stores, and Foodland :) Our art project was to create a stain-glassed piece of our choosing. Sonja also made one, a jellyfish and to my surprise presented it to me because it was my bday! Lucky We worked at table filled with every color of the rainbow and made such beautiful pieces which I will hang where the sun can hit it in my house. The shop has numerous crafts to learn basically for all ages. I'm sure the value was priced right, but being a gift I can't give an amount. I do know we will return and perhaps decorate a cowgirl hat. Mahalo for a great Saturday afternoon
