I've been to the cottage La Jolla location many times but this was my first time at the Del Mar! And it did not disappoint.. and the wait wasn't as long as La Jolla location. Dog friendly and will bring my cavapoo next time~ We ordered mor k g glory sandwich ($22) eggs La Jolla ($21) and 2 piece stuffed French toast ($14.75). I'd say the ftench toast was meh. But the other two tasted great especially the morning glory! Yummmm Service was great too: our waitress was honest about the portion size and the two dishes were probably enough for the 3 of us females. We still wanted order one more and she recommended 1/2 size French toast. It's also located at a nice area where you can walk around. We parked the garage attached to the restaurant. We left within 1 hour and didn't have to pay but not sure what the parking fee is there. I will definitely come back to this place in the near future!!

The Cottage has been a long time favorite breakfast restaurant of mine for many years. Their original restaurant is located in La Jolla, but today I tried their Del Mar, CA location. I think I like this location even better as it's slightly bigger and only a block from the beach. I went for brunch on a Sunday around 1:00pm and it wasn't crowded. The service was great, the food was delicious and the vibe was spot on. Very relaxing atmosphere. FYI... - it can get super crowded on weekends before noon - prices for breakfast might appear a little high but it's reasonable for the area - parking structure fills up fast so recommend street parking in the neighborhood

We've been fans of The Cottage in La Jolla for over a decade. This is the first time we had breakfast at The Cottage location in Del Mar, and it didn't live up to our expectations. FOOD (3/5) For our breakfast, we ordered the Antojito Benedict (3/5) -- Home made sopes with chili braised beef, black beans, poached eggs, shredded lettuce, sour cream, queso fresco, jalapeño crema and pico de gallo. The soles were overcooked -- possibly microwaved. The poached eggs were also overdone. ($21.00) Accompanying Black Beans (4/5) were terrific, and the Buttermilk Scone (4/5) we also ordered was great. ($5.50) SERVICE (3/5) -- The restaurant was less than half filled, but service was slow. We had to flag down a server for water and coffee refills. The manager was quite nice, however, hearing us out about the sopes, and giving us 50% discount on the dish. AMBIANCE (3/5) -- There's both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, the room is small with hard services ... and noisy. We opted for one of the outdoor tables, which are actually in a fenced off area on Camino Del Mar sidewalk. Nice but you're maybe 25' from CDM traffic. Overall, we'll order better next time based on what we like on the menu in La Jolla.

I visited around noon and had a good experience overall. The drinks arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the food was served promptly. The service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were good, though I personally preferred the ones at the La Jolla location. While I think the La Jolla location has slightly better food, the Del Mar location definitely has the better view. Overall, it's a great spot with good service, a nice atmosphere, and beautiful scenery.

I really enjoyed the La Jolla location so decided to give this location a try! We came around noon on a Saturday and we were seated right away. It was pretty busy and a short line formed after we got in. We ordered 3 dishes to share among the 4 of us: -Braised beef hash (5/5): I love the combination of flavors from the tender braised beef, eggs, potatoes, avocado and veggies. Delicious and my favorite! There was not much beef though so I wish there was more -Southern California scramble (5/5): solid scramble with bacon, guacamole and potatoes. Tasty, light and fluffy! -Brioche French toast (4/5): good and moist but typical French toast, big portion. We forgot to ask for fruit toppings but I think it should be already included The hash and scramble each came with a big scone with crystalized sugar top, and the strawberry jam that came with it was delicious! Overall, everything was good and we were all full. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. There's mostly outdoor seating since the interior is pretty small but the view was nice and the heater was turned on. Parking in the structure is free for the first hour but $3 every 30 mins after which was pricey. I would be back!

Love the La Jolla location so came here while in the area! We were luckily seated right away when we arrived around noon on a Saturday and noticed a short line after. Food came out quickly. The 4 of us shared 3 dishes: Braised beef hash (5/5): my favorite, I love the flavors and variety of eggs, potatoes and veggies but wish there was more beef Southern California scramble (4.5/5): egg scramble is good and fresh, scone is a bit dry Brioche French toast (4/5): typical French toast, big portion but we forgot to add extra toppings The interior is pretty small so it was mainly outdoor seating, but the view is nice and they turned on the heaters which was nice. Service was fast and friendly. Parking is free for 1 hour in the attached structure, $3 every 30 mins after which is pretty pricey. I would come back!

I grew up in La Jolla and always remembered my mother and her friends going to The Cottage for brunch and many times I went with her. It was great back then and it is still good now. I have been to many different restaurants in this location here in Del Mar and I would say this is one of my favorite ones that has been here. The Cottage is a solid breakfast or brunch option and it is usually pretty consistent and quick. Parking is plentiful in the parking garage attached, the first two hours are free. We were able to be seated for a party of three right when we arrived and our server was very polite. Inside is quite small, there aren't any very large tables however, it has a very cozy and homely feel to it. Service is also very fast so the tables will turn quickly. They have indoor seating and also outdoor seating which can be really nice depending on the weather. For my breakfast I chose the Chilaquiles and added chorizo. Unfortunately, it was soy chorizo, I wish they would have the real thing, but it was still really good. I also got a Cinnamon Roll and thought it was just OK. It was not gooey enough for my personal taste, but some may like it. Overall, I really enjoyed the breakfast and will stop in again in the near future.

Quaint and cute restaurant in Delmar on the corner between plaza and 15th. The wait time was less than 20 mins. Quick service and the food was soooo good! There's light drink menus. Wine/draft/mimosas along with a crafted coffee menu. I ordered and enjoyed the Clydesdale Shaken Espresso. I usually prefer my coffee sweet, but I didn't have to sweeten it at all and drank it perfectly as is. For food, I ordered the shrimp and crab salad (add goat cheese) it was so light and delicious! The swagyu burger, Mac and cheese, and even the kids menu were great portions. If you're a fries person, the fries here are extra fluffy and crispy. Definitely will come back. (Parking is available in their paid lot. It was $3.60 for 1.5 hours)

    Machaca scramble with avocado

Sunday at ten, a short wait then a table inside that has patio breeze. Brunch with old friends and a long, not rushed visit. Husbands both ordered the joes special. Scrambled eggs with sausage, mushrooms and spinach, cottage fries and scone. Mine also splurged on an orange juice ($9!) but everyone else had water. I ordered the Machaca beef scrambled eggs, with corn tortillas hold the black beans. Friend ordered a veggie omelette, with English muffins instead of scones. They think the scones here are dry. No complaints from my guy about dry. All gone! The Machaca was a tender shredded beef with peppers and onions. There was a lot of meat scrambled with the eggs. The tortillas were super high quality wow. I had them add avocado (+$2.50) and it was at least a half fruit. Delicious and plenty left for the next day. Our server brought boxes and happily split the check on her kiosk. We appreciate not being rushed and sat around awhile afterwards.

What a beautiful, bigger than it looks, small restaurant that we just happened upon on our way down to San Diego thanks to YELP! We wanted to find a scenic place, close to the beach with good food and we TOTALLY found that! There's paid parking, free for the first hour then three dollars every thirty mins. The restaurant does not validate but it's a not a big deal. We were seated right away by a lovely woman who was smiling and couldn't have been more friendly! We sat outside and checked out the small menu, The food came out quickly but was just delicious! I highly recommend this place, I'm so happy I found it! The neighborhood was quaint and walkable. There's a constant stream of people walking by and a ton of bikes and not too many cars! This place is a not so hidden gem, please try it!!

My coworkers and I went here a few weeks ago for a brunch on a Friday morning. This is my first time at this location and I was very eager to try everything! You can park inside of the shopping center parking structure or if you're lucky find Street parking. We decided to order a large cinnamon roll to share ordered a variety of different coffee drinks with my co-workers looking as beautiful as a martini! I couldn't decide between their variety of egg Benedict variations, and the waiter shared that I can order one of each! I ordered the pork belly and crab & prosciutto benedict, both were amazing and very different! Serving sizes are also very generous I cannot eat everything. Overall really love the my meal and definitely would go back!

Thankfully, this location is much cleaner than the other one I've been to. Although they do leave the butter and jam out for who knows how long and there was dust or some kind of fuzzy in mine, which wasn't very appetizing. I wasn't very hungry, so all I got was the Ruby Roots juice, which I thought was pretty tasty and they give you a decent amount, and Blueberry Millet muffin, they did not skimp on the blueberries and they millet wasn't drying. Overall, I was extremely happy with the simple things I got. I did get to try some of my coworkers meals as well, which is what brought my rating of this place down. Their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes did not have a strong lemon flavor to them and were on the sweeter side. The Joe's Special gave a decent amount of food for the price. Overall, the flavor was okay. Good but nothing special.

Looks nice but was sadly lacking flavor

A few days later, I placed an online order about 15-20 minutes before arriving. Since I work nearby, I thought it would be convenient to grab my drink on the way to work. When I arrived, my order hadn't even been started. The employee at the counter seemed unaware that the order had come through until she noticed the printed ticket. I figured it was a busy morning and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the exact same thing happened again just two days later. This time, I placed my order 25 minutes in advance. When I arrived, my drink still hadn't been started. The same employee asked if I had already ordered, and when I explained that I'd placed the order 25 minutes earlier, there didn't seem to be much acknowledgment or urgency regarding the mistake. At that point, I requested a refund because I couldn't wait any longer. People use online ordering in the morning because they're on a schedule and expect their order to be ready within the estimated pickup window. If online orders aren't being monitored consistently, it defeats the purpose of offering the service. What's especially disappointing is that I genuinely enjoyed the product and was planning to stop by regularly before work. However, after two identical experiences in one week, I no longer feel confident that my order will be ready when promised. The drinks may be great, but reliability and customer service matter too. I hope management addresses the online ordering process because it's likely costing them repeat business.

My favorite breakfast dishes are the chicken and waffle, country fried steak and french toasts. They perfectly bread the chicken and the homemade country gravy it adds that extra goodness to the meal. I also love their fresh-pressed juices, and I usually request a plantation iced tea -- iced tea mixed with pineapple juice. So refreshing! The decor is adorable too. It has a cozy farmhouse café vibe that makes the whole place feel warm and inviting. And the bread pudding from Sunny Side is definitely worth mentioning. I usually don't like bread pudding, but this is far from ordinary. It's made with croissants and chocolate, drizzled with chocolate sauce, dusted with powdered sugar, served with raspberries, and strawberries. You have to add the ice cream...cause why not? Absolutely indulgent and perfect for sharing. Totally worth those extra calories! Overall, we'll definitely keep dining here. You're bound to find something fitting that craving of yours or satisfying the nutrients needed for energizing your metabolism. I ended up ordering the pesto chicken wrap that also came with a side of chips. The wrap was loaded with succulent pieces of chicken and was very flavorful. The whole grain tortilla held up well throughout the meal and had good texture with each bite. The chips that came along were decent - had good crunch but lacked any kind of flavor. Fortunately the salsa came in clutch to kick things up a notch. The portions were also better than I had expected. The staff were friendly, efficient in placing our order and packaging it up, and thorough in fulfilling the order by including utensils and napkins as they handed the order to us. For takeout orders, they had given us an approximate wait time of 15 minutes and it was quite accurate. There wasn't much space to wait near the register so we ended up waiting near the front entrance near the sidewalk but after the 15 minutes, we made our way back to see that our order was in the process of getting packed up. Overall, Naked Cafe is a great spot to grab a light meal or lunch while soaking in so rays. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!
