Wow, this place is wonderful! We went for a couples massage as a walk in on a Saturday morning and they were able to take us right away and were running a great massage special. My boyfriend got deep tissue and I got relaxing. The spa doesn't look like much and isn't fancy, but that was one of the best massages I've gotten in my whole life and I can't believe how low the price was! Booked a massage here while we were in Puerto Vallarta for the day on a cruise. My mom and I got a couples hot stone massage (basically just a massage in the same room) and it was incredible. Lety was my therapist and she did an amazing job. It was relaxing and rejuvenating, and super affordable! I'll definitely book another one next time I'm in town! My mom had Sharon and she raved about her massage as well. You can't go wrong with either Lety or Sharon. If you're coming from the cruise terminal, book with plenty of time to get there and try to take a shuttle from the taxi stand at Puerto Magico. The taxis are overpriced, but the shuttle takes you a block away and costs $5 as of this post. Be advised, the shuttle doesn't take you back though, so walk a block or two away from the boardwalk and you can find an affordable taxi back. read more

I contacted Athena Spa via WhatsApp and they were responsive. The room is small for a couples massage, but that didn't deter from a good massage. My boyfriend and I opted for the therapeutic massage. It was one of the best massages I've had and I'm quite picky. The masseuse spent sufficient time on each part of my body and made a good attempt to work on my knots. Throughout the massage, various essential oils were placed by my nose which elevated the massage experience. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the loud fan. My husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta for our 27th anniversary. We splurged by staying at the all-inclusive Secrets Resort. While spa services are offered at the resort, we also try to support local small businesses wherever we travel to. We both needed some massage therapy and chose Athena based on Yelp reviews, which we rely on heavily in unfamiliar places. The ladies here were not only friendly and prompt, they were quick to offer refreshment in the 90 degree weather. The place is small but clean. There's no air conditioning, but, given the outside temperature, your body doesn't have to adjust too much- it was still rather cool as they run ceiling fans in the spaces. This is a no frills establishment, but it ticked all the boxes for us and we received one of the best deep tissue massages ever...and it cost us $35USD! The resort thought they were offering a bargain at $299USD. There are many other places we saw along the way that offer very reasonable prices for their various services. We were overly satisfied with Athena and would highly recommend! read more

My husband and I stumbled on Athena spa. It is not on the beach front or by the loud annoying traffic. It is super cute and I loved the blue colors. They have REALLY good prices for massage- but I  did a body scrub and manicure. Sharon was super good. she scrubbed hard enough and gave a gentle massage at the same time. The water and towels were warm. Then I got my mani. She  did a great job. we chit- chatted a lot too in both English and spanish. I overheard they had a big group coming in a little after me. Lovely women with a pretty open air friendly blue store front on the north end of the Malecon. I was able to book 75 minute massage for the special price of $400 (pesos) - a fraction of what I would pay in the States. It was my 30th birthday and as soon as the massage was over and I changed, I walked out to a cute little cupcake with a candle and all of the girls singing happy birthday. What business does that? My cousin and I both loved our massages.. they stretch you out and get all your knots, even the hard ones, and make it incredibly relaxing. The business is super clean and adorable. Location is off the busy street but close to all of the shopping, restaurants, bars, and touristy things in old PV. After the massages we talked to all the girls and they recommended local restaurants to try, which we did, and were not disappointed.
