I backed up into a fence and caused sum damage to my car. Checked reviews for car repair places on here and decided to try them. I first met with Jim a couple of weeks before I decided to go with them. I worked with his son Nick. Both were professional. I paid the deposit to order the part. They charge 3% per credit card transaction. 1 of 2 parts came in but was not informed til I called back. Nick apologized and we scheduled a date to drop off car and said it would be ready in a day, more like 2 but I didn't want to rush them and have to redo this project. I had a dent in the front right fender of my 2020 Outback. I brought the car into Athenian and the entire experience has been perfect. The owner came out and accessed the damage, went to his computer and gave me an estimate. I could tell the place was popular based on the number of cars awaiting service. The owner told me that it would be about 3 weeks before I could get it fixed. About three weeks later he called and I made an appointment. I asked at the appointment how long it would take and he said three days. On the third day my wife and I were talking and said to each other that we thought it would be more than 3. About 10 minutes later we got a call that the work was done. Fender/paint look great. Athenian Body Shop - Body Shops Near Me - Chicago Ridge, Illinois

We chose Athenian body shop to paint our window louvers before we had them installed because we thought Athenian was a reputable company, seeing they do work for a large, well known, local dealership. Their web site states, they do custom work. These are not your typical louvers. These louvers actually replace the glass window and sit flush. This all started back on February 28, 2023 when my husband dropped the louvers off to be painted. We did not hear anything until March 27, 2023 (a month later) when Athenian called to ask what the color code was again because they had forgotten to write it down and to let us know they were going to paint them today and we could come get them in a couple days. It was 3 or 4 days later when my husband stopped at Athenian after work to pick them up. He was looking them over and noticed that they did not follow the directions that were actually given by the company on how to prep & paint them. The tape lines are all messed up, they didn't prep them correctly, they painted both sides & left spray off marks. When my husband asked Jim (the owner) about it, Jim told him that precut inserts for the louvers didn't stick so they used masking tape. We also noticed they noticed a be piece that was not correct and instead of repainting it they touched it up with something that looks like white out. These inserts were perfectly cut so there would be no tape lines. My husband was extremely pissed, he gave Jim $100.00 and walked out. When I got home and looked then over, I was pissed he even paid $100 for the quality of the work, the lack of communication and the lack of taking responsibility for their mistake. These louvers are now unusable. I ended up taking the louvers back over to Athenian on April 6, 2023 to point out all the little things wrong with them and why we no longer can put them in our show car. Nick (the owners son) said to leave them and he would see what they could do to fix them up, Jim was sitting in the background hearing everything I'm telling Nick and said nothing besides yes this was a job he took in. It's now June 30, 2023, 85 days, almost 3 month later and we have not heard a word from anyone at Athenian, since we both happened to be off work we decided we would go up there. We walked in and Jim told us we haven't had time to do anything to them handed us the box that was right behind the front counter, right where they put it when I dropped it off April 6. Now we are out $400 and 4 months worth of time. The staff was super nice and helpful! You can definitely tell it's a family business and that they care... the work they did on my Jeep was amazing! They do have a lot of cars there usually and seem super busy so I just had to call to confirm when my Jeep would be done but they held by their word! I've never gone to a body or car shop that has stuck to their quote or been less than what they quoted till I went to Athenian! It was the best feeling ever not having to stress about the cost or give a arm and leg for it. Already plan on taking my Jeep back for more work and my husband plans on taking his truck! FYI I didn't go through any insurance and cut the guy some slack since he was reported in another accident he didn't want his CDL suspended, so I took his word. Nick provided the best service also was more professional than other insurance agents. He would communicate with the other parties. He provided great service and not just that the work was amazing. This body shop is amazing. I usually don't have the best of experiences with auto services (maybe b/c of my gender?) but this place treated me well and my car looks perfect--again. I only had 950 miles on my new car when I was in an accident. Front end was messed up. I had to find a body shop that would use the manufacturer parts and paints since this was a new VW. I contacted the VW dealership and they gave me the name of Athenian who they use for their own body shop repairs. They were a blessing in disguise. Nick, one of the owners, told me that they service two VW dealerships in the area. Obviously, they know what they are doing. He had a tow truck pick up my car within the hour of my phone call. Then he called me just to tell me that the car had arrived and that it can be fixed like new; not to worry. When he noticed that the adjuster was missing a few important items, he called me to tell me what they were and then called the adjuster himself and worked it out. Yes, he would call me and update me before I had a chance to call!! When I went to pick up the car, we checked it out and couldn't believe that it even had been in an accident! Even the paint was perfect. It works perfectly too. Amazing. I highly recommend this body shop if you ever need one; they are professional, courteous, fast (my car was only there for approx 2 weeks), and provide quality work and parts. To whom may be interested, I would like to express my sincere thoughts as to how this body shop conducts business, weather you the reader takes this review seriously is entirely up to you. My thoughts are based on real experiences. Nick the manager's son is a very nice person he seems like he wants to help you out. He seems very sincere and very honest. DO NOT LET LOOKS FOOL YOU. This guy is a professional liar. I took my car to him and it was a brand new vehicle. The quarter panel needed repairs. He took almost two months to take care of it. Every time I came in the car was dented or just sitting somewhere outside. There was rust due to bad storage and bad work. I needed to keep coming back for at least another three weeks after I got the car. I would recommend this shop to anyone with a Geo Metro if you have a nice car due not be fooled. They sell luxury cars but they put little effort into repairs. The actual work that goes into repairs is half of what is on your estimates.These people do horrible work. They shouldn't be taking on work they don't know how to do such as frame rot repair. They did a weak weld too close to the shock mount where there was no rot that ended up breaking the shock mount from the frame 3 weeks after the initial repair, and the old man gets mad at me because they don't know how to weld. He needs to go back to customer service school and re-learn that the customer is always right and it's unprofessional to be screaming at the customer because they did a bad job. They fixed it since, of course they are liable, but I do not have confidence in their work and I'm worried it will not last. read more

Unfortunately for my husband and I, mostly me, we have bad car luck! No one wants to become a regular at a body shop and that is exactly what has happened to us. Luckily for me I found Athenian by way of a VW dealership recommendation. The first car repair came by way of a hit and run, from behind, on the expressway. The second repair was by far the worst after being stuck in a hail storm last summer. My car that did not have a scratch on it was covered in dents, ranging from nickel sized to baseball sized. While that car was being fixed our other car was hit by a metal grocery cart on the passenger side door. After a few months of relief from car repairs my husband was hit on the drivers side by a texting driver. Needless to say Athenian has done all the work to our cars and is a preferred body shop through our insurance company, thankfully. Nick has been respectful and honest throughout the process of all of our car repairs. I would highly recommend Athenian to anyone in need of auto body work. It says something about the type of business and quality of work they do when multiple VW dealerships only recommend them for repairs. I was in a car accident unfortunately two cars hit each other and my car got caught in the mix. The insurance companies all blamed my vehicle for the reason of the accident. I was angry, sad and embarrassed. When I decided to take my car to this location I also decided to get a dent that was not part of the accident fixed. When I got my car back I was very pleased with the work. My rating isn't just for the quality but for the customer service. Everyone working was so content and lively 9 am in the morning. I also grabbed a flyer and their motto is "we make friends through accidents". I'm not sure if I quoted that right but I told Nick that it was a great slogan and it made me feel 100 percent better despite my insurance making me at fault for an accident I did not create. Anyway they were very accommodating, offered help anyway they could to make life easier. I didnt even have to ask. They just know what their customers need at a time that makes you crummy. If you want no communication, and deadlines not to be honored! Someone backed into my car. I decided not to go through the insurance and picked this place based on the reviews. When i took my car in i was told it would take 4 days. I took my car on Sat 8/3 (8am); I called them on Thursday (8/8); they stated they were finishing up my car and would call me that afternoon. (NO call) on Friday (8/9) I got a call at 5:30pm saying my car will be ready on Sat (8/10). I went on Sat to pick up my car (8am) and was happy it was finished.. Wait a minute! My husband inspected the car and the color didn't match. He told me/and one of the owners (the son) that the color didn't match. The son told us we can buff it out! My husband said I am not going to buff out a car I am paying over $1400 to have fixed they need to fix it. The son stated that he didn't have anyone to do it today so he can have it done by Monday (8/12).. I waited ALL day on 8/12 no call nothing from this shop. MY husband called Tuesday (8/13)and they said the car will be ready in an hour. Thank goodness when i went the car was ready and the color was matched to the rest of the car. However for what was quoted as a 4 day job. Took 9 business days, and most communication was me calling them I am happy this is finally over. read more

It was my first time taking my car to Athenian, for water leaked from the roof of my car one time when it rained. Nick was very nice and professional. They were honest enough to let me know that there was nothing wrong with it, and that they did some adjustments to make sure the leak doesn't happen again. I took my car (2014 Jeep Compass) to Athenian Body Shop because of a dent in my bumper and the reflector light popped out of place upon contact with another vehicle. Nick, the owner, was super nice and professional. He gave me multiple options in regards to price comparison and was honest in telling me the outcome of each. I brought my car in on Wednesday morning and he informed me that it would be ready that evening. He lived up to his words because I phoned in around 3:30pm and my car was already finished. When I picked it up, he inspected the vehicle with me and asked if I had any questions. I happily paid for the service and left with a smile. This place is terrible. Terrible isn't even the word I want to use. If I could I would give them no stars but it won't let me write the review. I live in the city and only brought my car here based on a recommendation from a friend. Somebody had hit my car, so their insurance company was supposed to cover all damages. I bring the car in and Nick tells me he will call me to update me as everything goes. Never get a call from him or anyone there the entire time my car is in the shop. Initially he tells me two weeks tops, so I call him after two weeks he tells me it's still not done. I call a week later, and I get the same answer. So finally, after a month of waiting and chasing them around to get updates on my car, they tell me it's done. The girl at the front claims she called me to let me multiple times. Complete BS and I have phone records to prove that. Besides the point, so now my car is done, and I'm driving around, going about life when I get a call from the rental car company telling me I owe them $800 because the insurance claim was only good to cover 11 days of car rental. Why because this lovely shop told them it would be done in that time frame and never called to let the insurance company know it was taking longer. So now I'm trying to get this straightened out with the body shop to call the insurance company so I'm not stuck paying $800. I call in and talk to the girl at the front, I believe her name is Val. Terrible service, she tells me for two days she will call me back once she contacts the insurance company. I don't hear back from her for a week so I call her and ask her why she didn't call me back. "Oh well I lost the post it note that I had your number on and was hoping you would call back." Direct quote no exaggeration at all. So now I am beyond pissed but I am calm because I just want to get it taken care of. So I talk to Nick and he tells me he's going to get it taken care of. Well we are at a week later, I wake this morning to see that $800 has been charged by the rental car company. So not only did this place take longer to do the work, not follow up with the insurance company to extend the claim, not follow up with me at any point during the repairs, I'm being stuck with an $800 bill. So basically I am paying a third of the cost of repairs cause this place has terrible follow up. read more
