This is an old school spot in Roswell that has been in the same place since 1992. The interior reminds me of some of the old Greek or Italian spots in NYC, Brooklyn and Queens. These days, where everyone is a critic, the decor likely won't impress. BUT the food is definitely impressive. The meat in the gyro wraps is seasoned perfectly, and the veggies are fresh and crisp. Overall, simple, and no frills, served on a paper plate, but totally delicious. Fries were also simply plated and seasoned nicely. The service was quick and the girls in the front were smiling and friendly. Everything came out in about 5 minutes. It was fine overall, nothing particularly bad, but not something I'd go out of my way to revisit. It's one of those meals where most other gyros I've had have been better, even if there's nothing specifically awful about this one. On the positive side, the meat was very tender and juicy. Sometimes you get the outer layer of the spit, and it ends up too crusty or dry, but this was done really well, moist and flavorful. The pita was a bit smaller than others I've had, but at $8.75 (especially when many places are charging $12 now), the portion seemed fair for the price. What I really didn't enjoy were the fries. They were the thick-cut steak fries straight from a frozen bag, dressed up with some oregano and seasoning and served with a dipping sauce, but still just not good. That kind of fry never works for me. The taziki was okay but not bursting with flavor. A little thin. The produce seemed fresh, though there was a lot of iceberg lettuce on top, again, not bad, just unremarkable. The interior of the restaurant felt a bit bland, clearly repurposed from a previous establishment without much effort put into ambience. On the plus side, the service was very fast. I had my food in less than five minutes, so it's definitely a solid option for a quick lunch. The staff was reasonably friendly and efficient. In the end, it was all just... fine. The basic gyro wrap itself was OK - not bad, but not great. What I considered to be sub-par is their tzatziki sauce. Rather than being the traditional cucumber and yoghurt sauce that I've been served in dozens of Greek restaurants, their sauce appears to be mayonnaise based, with no hint of cucumber, like ranch salad dressing. There are too many other better Greek restaurants everywhere in the area, so I won't be back. I got a response from the restaurant saying that they don't call their sauce tzatziki. That's odd because I specifically asked for extra tzatziki sauce and was charged for it. My receipt shows it as Ziiki sauce. I'm now even more certain not to go back. read more

I've loved this place since it opened around 30 years ago. Affordable, quick, all the things you would expect at a Greek café, and the food has always been so tasty. However, on my last visit after the children of the owner took over the business from the father,the quality and tastiness of the food was not at the same level since apparently,, the father would not share his secret recipes with the new manager, so he could keep up the same quality food. I hope this is changed since my last visit as I will go back and hope for better. read more

I've visited this location in the past and it seemed OK at the time. I was recently in the area and got excited to see Greek food. I do share some of the sentiments of some of the other reviewers who gave the restaurant a lower rating. Parking is not an issue. It's in a plaza with other businesses so there was a lot of parking available. The entrance where the 'Open' sign is felt a bit claustrophobic to me. I open one door to then open another. Not really sure how convenient that is. It also gives more contact points which is not good for the time we are in. Maybe I also didn't look well enough but the restaurant didn't feel too clean. I ordered a falafel plate to go and also baklava. The plate was in a styrofoam container and the baklava was on a styrofoam plate wrapped with saran wrap. The baklava had a little too much honey/syrup for my liking. The falafels were good and so were the fries, but the salad was just OK. read more

Not what it used to be.... This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but everything has changed (and not for the better). First of all, the menu has changed: forget having moussaka, pastitsio,, or eggplant parmigiana. But if you want a tuna sandwich or a hamburger, you're in luck. Forget having a fountain drink; you now grab a can out of the cooler. Forget having a server and eating off of actual dishes. Forget having an authentic Greek meal or even decent food. I have been going to this restaurant for at least 30 years. But today may be my last visit. It is clean. The staff was efficient. But the food is now mediocre. It used to be my go to when i wanted a nice, fresh salad with Greek chicken and the tzatziki sauce was referred to as "crack" in my house. I would often stop by to just pick up the outstanding pita and sauce, buying it by the cup. They changed ownership and, although they insist they did not change the recipe, they must have lowered the quality of ingredients. The chicken is now shredded and tastes as though it was cooked in an Insta pot. As i said, food is not bad, lettuce was crisp and fresh. Tomatoes were good. But the sauce and pita were just not as good. So I will be in search of a new, quick Greek salad with exceptional tzatziki sauce for those times when i just don't want to make my own. I stopped by & got some takeout food here. Overall, it was okay, I'm rating it higher because the service was fast & the staff was really friendly, I definitely think the food is just average. We got some gyros & a few meat platters. The gyro meat was tender & flavorful, maybe just a tad bit too oily/fatty. The grilled chicken my mom got was good & the salads were fresh, probably my favorite part. The toppings on the salad were kinda sparse so I asked for more, but the dressing was nice, the feta was delicious & they were a decent size. The pita was definitely not homemade and the tzatziki was just gross in my opinion, it tasted like mayonnaise. The Greek fries were disappointing because they lacked flavor, the falafel was okay & the spanakopita was okay but I definitely don't think it was homemade either, but the baklava was pretty good. I go there every few weeks for lunch. I'd go more often if I could. They have a lunch special. You get a gyro, fries and a drink (I get a bottle of root beer) for like $12. The food quality is great! (BTW, I had a gyro and fries from another fancier Greek place a little bit to the north, I won't name names, but it doesn't even compare. Athens is the best! I used to come here about 10-20 times a month. Was my go-to work lunch spot. Ever since COVID and the owners leaving, it's been getting worse and worse. Owners were great. It WAS a family establishment. No people there just DGAF. ---Food--- Expect old, brownish lettuce for all your dishes. The taziki sauce has also changed a good bit in the past 4 years; just isn't as good as it used to be ---Service--- Easily the most unpleasant customer service I have experienced in a while. Not only does the staff lean over the kiosk to watch how much you are tipping, they are still rude regardless of the amount. The customer service experience is by far the worse aspect of this restaurant now and is the reason I finally decided to give it up. (I was willing to pay more for brown lettuce, but I'm not willing to be berated by the staff) ---Price--- Price has increased about 30% in the past 4 years. I'm sad. We've been coming here for many years. About a month ago, we ate in, and it was ok. The salad was off, and I didn't love the falafel, but everything else was good. Today we got two gyros and a Greek salad to go. The gyros were pretty good: lots of meat, fresh lettuce, and somewhat squishy tomatoes. The salad was just awful: bagged iceberg lettuce- the bag salad smell hits you in the face when you open the box- slimy cucumbers, canned black not kalamata olives, and even the feta on top was slimy. They no longer offer a lunch special where the gyros come with either salad or fries, and I missed being greeted by the older woman at the counter. The worst Greek food I've had in my 51 years. It was our first and last time ordering here. The falafel was blah, the fries are under salted and soggy, the spanakopita was def not made with butter - it had a "movie theater butter" taste to it. The worst though is the "tzatziki". My husband ordered extra tzatziki on the side, not sauce but tzatziki. Called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. She was like, "Yeah, that's the family's secret recipe." I replied, "Okay, but it's not tzatziki." She basically said, "Yeah, I know. Oh well." This is a mayo-based sauce with sugar that could dupe for ranch. It's gross. Terrible service. I ordered the falafel salad. They presumed I ordered the large. I also had to order hummus because they couldn't add it and it didn't find on the Greek Salad. A pepper, some iceberg, two slices of tomato and 4 falafel balls. Super basic with a mayo-flavored tahini and a oil and oregano "dressing". There is no baba ghanoush. There is no tabbouleh. There is no Greek authenticity this is another fry it up and serve it shack. No Greek potatoes? The guy points to pictures on the wall when asked about the menu "this is all we have". Mind you the manager, he's American. No language barrier to account for his lack of communication skills. Just laze. He got upset when I questioned the price of a lunch salad. Yelp delivered this little gem right around the corner from where we were. A quick stop to order and we were on our way in under 5-mins with some VERY tasty morsels. I had a gyro wrap and salad. My wife had the gyro plate, which adds potatoes to the mix. My oh my...very good. I'll gladly return to this location. Staff was friendly and attentive. Prices were very reasonable for the portions. Food was really good. The only reason why this isn't 5-stars is because the salad could have used a bit more of the onions, olives, and feta cheese. It had those in there, but my preference is for more of those in a Greek salad. The dressing was very good. Overall a good 1st time experience here. read more

I have been going to Athens Greek Restaurant for years, but haven't been there in months. When my wife and I arrived, I didn't see the old faces and certain things in the decor had changed. We didn't think much about it and placed our orders. It was obvious that the prices had increased. Once you ordered, they use to bring your food out to your table. I got the gyro plate and my wife ordered the chicken parm. They came out, my name was called and I picked them up at the counter. Both orders were delivered in plastic, compartmented boxes along with a small container of tzatziki sauce. My gyro was pretty much what I was accustomed to at this restaurant, although the portions were smaller, and they previously served it on a paper plate. No problem, but then my wife opened her box. The chicken parmesan consisted of piece of breaded, processed chicken that looked like it came right out of one of the frozen containers from Sam's, with a slice of cheese and microwaved, sitting on top of a pile of spaghetti and a dab of marinara sauce. It came with grilled bread. My wife picked at it for a while, but most of it went into the trash. I was told that the older man that owned the place, retired and it is under different management. I'll just say that the restaurant isn't what it use to be and we won't be back. read more

Their catering service is stellar - we used Athens for our end of the year baseball banquet and graduation party and everything was perfect. I highly recommend the spanokopita and greek salad. I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years. The food is amazing and the owners are awesome. My husband and I drive 20 miles to eat here. Our favorite is the Souvlaki Wraps and Salad. This place has been bookmarked for the longest time, but I finally got the opportunity to go here. Went here with a friend for lunch last last Friday, and I found this place to be quite cozy. The cashier was friendly as she pointed out various items to order. BTW, you first order at the counter then pick up the food when it's called over the speakers. The late lunch crowd here was pretty decent so the place seems to be popular enough. The souvlaki (pork) wrap was pretty tasty. The meat portions were pretty generous. The sauce gave it flavor and made it messy as you try to take a bite into this huge wrap; even my friend was full at the end. The baklava wasn't super overwhelmingly sweet. When you bite into it, you can taste the sweet syrup, but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Pretty good I must say. My friend would beg to differ since he said this place wasn't as comparable as the place near his house. Overall, a cute place for a decent price and amount of food. A customer said everything on their menu was good. She had heard me comment about how I wanted to try the burger but thought otherwise since this was more of a Mediterranean place. Perhaps I will visit here again on another lunch outing. Parking was pretty plentiful since this complex wasn't super popular even though it's huge. read more
