Not sure I can thank this place enough for tremendously turning my skin around in just a matter of weeks. I have suffered from acne my entire life, trying everything under the sun at my dermatologist (including accurate). While this held off my severe acne for a couple of years, I began breaking out worse than I ever had before in May 2019. I began my journey with Atlanta Acne Specialists & their products in September 2019 and honestly it was the best thing that could ever happen to me. Around that time I had severe cystic acne that was very persistent & I couldn't do nothing to get rid of it. Where do I start? You've heard it before..."I tried everything." I'll spare those details because with everything I tried, I'm sure there's 1000 things I haven't tried. Thanks to Teri, I didn't have to! Trying to navigate which products you should and shouldn't use is beyond overwhelming! From home remedies, to doctor's offices to every gimmick in the book, the hopeless feeling you get is just as bad as the breakout. I reached out to Teri, exactly a year and a day ago, after giving up on everyone in the city of Memphis, both estheticians and dermatologists. It wasn't bad but it was enough to consume my thoughts and energy. After a search for specialists, I found Teri, in Atlanta. This was 6 hours from me. I thought "what if I drive 6 hours only to get the same results that I get in Memphis." After seeing the prices of treatment, I thought "these are the same prices as the ones in Memphis so I'm not really losing anything." Then....I was told I had to buy products. If I'm being completely transparent, I thought "this is a scam!" Why do I have to spend a couple of hundred dollars on HER products to get good results. So I reached out to some Yelpers to ask for their honest opinions. Literally, all of their feedback was great! Still feeling uneasy, I bought the products. Let me tell you.....THIS IS NOT A SCAM! I repeat...THIS IS NOT A SCAM!! I used the products for about 2 weeks before taking the drive. As I type this, I haven't been in office for 6 months. Literally can't believe it. She will tell you what works and what doesn't, for your skin, even if it's her products. There were many times during my desperate days that I would beg for a stronger peel, serum or acne gel. She will let you know if you should or shouldn't. She will even tell you if a service is not necessary (even though that again impacts her earnings.) I mean, she has been a blessing to me and I make sure I let her know, often. I recently moved to Washington state and she sent a beautiful card and message about my move when I ordered products. If you are doubting, don't! This is my honest review. I get nothing for this! PS. Jen, who works in the office, is AMAZING as well. So sweet and will help you with any issues on the admin side (although 100% of the issues had absolutely NOTHING to do with their office.) Companies now will tell you, "This is beyond our control, so, oh well." They will not! I received an empty shipment once because the wonderful post office broke my items and sent me the box, with a note, saying, oh well (in so many words.) Teri, with an injured leg, shipped another shipment on Sunday, so I could have it in time for a vacation, without doubting me! And the kicker....it wasn't even an expensive shipment. I initially saw Teri in mid-2015 after giving up on the "treatment" for my adult acne that I was receiving from the dermatologists in the Marietta and Kennesaw area. I used to live in Decatur and remembered having better experiences with dermatologists closer to the city, so I searched on Yelp and stumbled across Atlanta Acne Specialists. This caught my attention because most dermatologists seem to have no concern whatsoever with treating acne, only prescribing botox. I was being loaded up on antibiotics, spironolactone, and prescribed ridiculously expensive prescription acne creams. They'd work at first, but the acne kept getting worse. Frustrated, I asked repeatedly, "what is causing this acne?" I was told "we really don't know," but given excuses including fluoride in toothpaste getting on the skin around my mouth(!). I finally hit my breaking point when I went onto a high-deductible health insurance plan at work and found that some of these creams, even generic, were more than $400! Though AAS is not a medical clinic that takes insurance, Teri is worth every penny. Her goal is to get your skin CLEAR, not to keep you coming back. And she gets results. You may pay a little more upfront out of pocket than you would at a medical derm, but it is 1,000% worth it. Once your skin clears up, staying on the regimen is up to you. The products are expensive and the routine is a lot of work, so if you aren't prepared to put the effort in don't waste her time. For some background, I struggled with acne from my sophomore year of high school. That was 9 years ago. I had severe, cystic acne. Before seeing Teri I tried everything. Every topical ointment, face wash, diet change, supplements, multiple dermatologists, prescription creams. I was only able to reduce the cysts, but the acne still remained. When I finally found Terri, I was a professional adult who was going to an office daily and was so self conscious about my skin all the time. I was desperate to find a solution and to stop slathering my face in makeup just to leave the house. I accidentally found Teri online in 2013 when I happened to google "Atlanta acne specialist". I gave her a call and she told me she was confident she could clear my skin within 6 months. I, having tried every product and every treatment under the sun, was skeptical yet hopeful. Well I went to see her for my first visit for what I assumed was a facial in October of 2013. You know, the ones where they smother a bunch of junk on your face and say your skin will breakout because of new products but they swear everything will work? Well, that's not at all what Teri did! Teri took over an hour to carefully do extractions, ask me if I was comfortable, and explain to me how her products and systems work. She also did an evaluation of my current products, makeup, and diet to tell me what could be flaring my acne. Her method of doing extractions didn't leave my face all bumpy and swollen like a lot of other places. And, the icing on the cake was that she got so much of the gunk out of my pores that the very next day my skin felt smoother and overall better. Flash forward 5 years and I'm now the person people say "oh you don't have to worry about bumps, you have amazing skin" to! I always tell them its 100% Terri's doing. To this day, I only use her products and I went from seeing her every two weeks for treatments, to monthly, to bi monthly, to quarterly and so on. I noticed an improvement in my skin the very next day because of the extractions (I thought I was crazy). It was probably at the 3 month mark for me where the difference was visible to others and I hadn't had a cystic flare up in a while. At about 6 months I was completely clear with no new breakouts in sight! We then started working to reduce the redness. At about 1.2 year mark, the redness was gone and then it was on to the brown spots and the pitted scars. She adjusted my treatment and started including microderm and slowly but surely, but brown spots faded as well. As we made progress on my skin, the treatments were getting shorter too because my flare ups were finally under control. Now, I maybe go see her 2-3 times a year and its just because she's spoiled me and I can't stand even seeing a few blackheads! 5 years ago it would have been a blessing that the only thing on my face was a couple of black heads :) I still do get the occasional zit when I'm overly stressed, sweating too much, fall asleep in my makeup (so bad, don't do this!!) but it's nothing compared to what it was before. Now, my "awful breakout" is one bump on my cheek and it's gone in a few days when I use Teri's products and the cold compress like she advises. I've referred so many people to Terri as well and everyone that has gone to see her and stuck with her products and guidance has seen incredible improvements. Keep in mind you do need to be meticulous with your routine and products. For the first year, I didn't go anywhere without my products. It can be tedious the first few weeks while you get the hang of how to use the products, but if you stick with it... the results will come. Don't let the price tag of buying new products and the treatment stop you from trying her. Seriously, she's worth every single penny. If you're like me, you've probably thrown away thousands of dollars worth of products that you bought and didn't work (everything from drugstore brands to department store brands like Clinique and Shishiedo, to dermatologist brand products like Obagi and Glytone) or paid for medication like differin or accutane. Teri has actually ended up costing me less in the last few years since I'm not constantly changing products. I have a routine and we've determine what works best for my skin so now I just re-order every few months! I'll also say that anytime I do have that rare breakout, Terri always asks me what I had changed recently in hair products, diet, makeup etc. and looks for a cause. And every single time she's found it! For example, I started working out and it turns out the protein powder I was using had ingredients that can flare acne. Like the other reviewers...can't say enough about Teri. She's been working with my teenage son who had severe acne and has been able to bring about a total change in his skin when no dermatologist could, and believe me, we tried EVERYTHING (including Accutane). He's been going there for about 4 months and he is so happy with his results. The good thing is, the skin keeps getting better and continues to heal every week that passes. The program takes discipline, but is doable (even for a teenager). Teri is thoughtful and caring and really celebrates the success that he's made. To say we are grateful is an understatement. Teri is a miracle worker! I have always suffered with some acne but in the last year I really broke out and at 26 you would hope that's all behind you. I had tried the dermatologist for years with no success. I tried changing my diet, facials and any face washes I saw on TV or in the store. NOTHING WORKED. I was of course hesitant to go to Atlanta Acne Specialist because I've had no success with anything else but decided I had no other choice at that point and if it didn't work then it was just one more thing to add to the list. My acne issue suddenly became severe within a few months. I am in my 20's. Products stopped working. My acne was out of control.
