I visited this business when my regular nail shop wasn't available. This place had good reviews, so I decided to give them a try. The shop is located on a busy street near downtown Decatur and there's a parking garage nearby where the nail shop validates, so that's a pro. They were able to squeeze me in me in for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. The ladies that worked on me did a nice job, but I ran into issues trying to explain a reverse French manicure. Went for a mother daughter date as a walk-in. There was a little wait but we just got brunch to kill time. Mani pedis we're awesome. Let's start with - I don't trust just anyone with my eyebrows. Molly is the only person in the entire Atlanta area I would let wax my eyebrows. If it wasn't for her I would have a solid unibrow. She takes time to trim and shape them. I cannot speak of other services, because I only go for my brows. Beware of this business. I had a gift certificate from this salon that was issued in 2022 without an expiration date. I tried to use it recently in 2024 for a pedicure but was informed by staff that it 'expired'. The woman who was helping me actually wrote an expiration date on the gift certificate in front of me. I explained that there is a GA law (GA gift card integrity act of 2005) that states gift cards should provide terms and conditions, and an expiration date. If an entity fails to comply, this is considered a deceptive practice. Ultimately, the salon refused to accept the gift card, the manager explained that this is their policy despite the law. I was told the owner would contact me to discuss and no one ever did. This is a deceptive practice and I hope the salon does not routinely do this or they will lose customers like me. read more

My mom and I had a terrible experience here and will never come back. My mom had an ingrown nail which was hurting. The staff member was very rude and told my mom "you act like a baby". The manicure was not well done at all (see pictures). I went here last Monday and I got an acrylic full set. I didn't have them cut the full set because I like my nails long. The experience itself was regular, but upon leaving the shop my nails were atrocious. i'm not one for confrontation so I would rather just pay for some thing I don't like than argue with someone about it. My nails on my left hand I have almost all come off. I've had to super glue them back on until I can go get my nails done somewhere else. what's frustrating about this is that my nails were coming off on Thursday of last week, it hadn't even been a full week yet. I had asked for a design and I got something completely different than what I asked for, it was a good attempt but if you can't do something just say that instead of charging me three dollars. what I'm most upset about is the fact that I have already determined that this nail salon is not the place for me to go, they don't do a good enough job and they rush you through. my nails are all different shapes and not what I asked for they are all different thicknesses and it just left me very unhappy. I don't think I will ever come back here,. I thought I would give them another chance especially because they're very close to school and they're down the street from my old apartment. I just don't have the time or money to keep wasting on experiences that are not going to be up to par. One positive aspect is that I do have good prices so I'm not upset that I spent $40 on some thing that I was very unhappy about. After giving this another go and being set up with a diff nail tech, my overall experience was much better. The nail tech I was set up with was half Chinese and Vietnamese. She was super sweet and did a careful job. Though she did cut my cuticles a tad too close (the alcohol stung a little bit), my experience getting a gel manicure this time was pleasant. Their staff is friendly, accommodating, and generally there isn't much of a wait. They have a wide selection of nail polish and they can do a manicure while you're getting your pedicure. How efficient! They have a mani and pedi combo deal of $35. Their pedicures are very relaxing and they have those comfy massage chairs that add to your relaxation. You can trust them with brow waxing which is only $10. Tip: Pay in cash for service over $30 for nine visits and you get free $30 service in return on your next visit. I go here every time I get my nails done. I get gel and SNS. They always have boice friendly nail techs and they all agree good at what they do. I love the atmosphere ! Suzy is one of the best, and molly the owner is so fun and so nice she always will put a smile on your face. The place is very clean. They are about to open a bigger shop a couple doors down because ir can get very crowded at certain times of the day. If you go after 3 PM I would call ahead to be safe. I beleive they gave a decent collection of colors to choose from and they do designs and Rhine stones so that keep up with the latest trends. They also do eye brows and body waxing and massages. In my opinion this is the best nail salon in Atlanta and beyond. They are very very clean and COVID conscious and the expertise of the nail technicians is bar none. Molly and Ken are the owners. They have a loyal, long term crew working with them and a very loyal customer/client following. I have been going for years and have gone to many other places in Atlanta to compare it too--from both super high end to basic on the corner neighborhood shopping plaza spots. There is nobody that compares in my humble opinion. The customer service is excellent. Any one star review here in my experience is a one-off. I don't discount the person's experience as it is possible she hired someone at the time less experienced due to busy season. But in general, I would give them five stars and feel very very comfortable recommending them to everyone. In fact, anytime I have friends or family come into town who are looking to get nails done, this hands down is the spot where I will send them. This nail salon is A-OK. Reading the other Yelp reviews before visiting helped me set appropriate expectations. Here's my list of things to know about Viet Traditional Nails after getting one pedicure there: 1) Plan in advance where you are going to park. It's downtown Decatur. It's hard to find free parking. But parking at a metered spot on the street is free after 6 pm. There's lots of spaces on North Candler, to the east of salon. 2) They wish to upsell. Maybe you want the extra stuff, which is detailed on a laminated card and handed to you about five minutes into a pedicure. I wanted the plain' ol $22 pedicure and said so, and my request was not challenged. 3) That being said, basic means basic, as far as the pedicure is concerned. At other salons, the person who is giving me the pedicure spends a lot of time working on my callouses. Granted, since I've been running fewer miles these days, the condition of my feet wasn't too bad, but still: 10 seconds of swiping with a double-sided pumice pad is minimal! Where's the callus shaver and the foot rasp? (Nota bene: I know that some folks are opposed to salons using callus shavers. I understand the concerns. But still, I love when my rough-ass feet get hacked smooth.) If I'm getting a pedi with a friend, as I did today, Viet Traditional Nails will be my go-to place. It doesn't smell like a salon, it's visually pleasing, the massage chairs do a solid job, and if one makes a reservation on a not-crazy-busy day, they'll make sure your chairs are right next to each other. If I'm getting a pedi by myself: Toni's Nails in Toco Hills all the way: $16 for a thorough pedicure. But it's much less spa-like and the pedicure chairs are fixed and separated from each other by a good distance. And it's in a non-glamorous shopping plaza, whereas Viet Traditional Nails is in downtown Decatur. read more

I booked an appointment for 2:30 for a manicure and pedicure. When I arrived I told the employees my information and said I was there for a manicure and pedicure at 2:30. When asked what color, I asked for SNS and to look at the book. The pedicure employee didn't ask me at all about color and just had me sit. When I selected a color the gentleman started filing and dipping my nails. I asked about the manicure part and if they were going to do cuticles and lotion . He nodded yes then continued dipping and coating. After he was apparently done I asked to buff down the nail a bit because it was very thick and almost like a bubble shape. He shaved it down a bit then redipped it, getting it right back to the thickness it was. I asked again about my manicure and they he said it was too late for that since the SNS was done. I stayed that's what I asked for when I booked and when I arrived and when I sat down. They reluctantly trimmed my cuticles then buffed down the polish a little before coating it with a gel topcoat with the UV. I waited for my eyebrows which I originally asked for at the beginning. After I was asked to lay down on the table in the room and specifically told the lady I do not put wax above my eyebrow, only below and the middle due to skin sensitivity. She promptly put wax above my eyebrow. I told her I can't do that and I already asked her not to. She poured oil over it and slowly peeled it away, still pulling hairs out but now slower. I even asked her to just pull it since it was there but she kept pulling it off slowly. Afterwards she handed me a mirror and said "there". I asked her to wax the middle which was skipped and he did and then made me feel rushed to get out. I felt very humiliated and rushed. They did not listen to me at all, skipped the manicure then tried to charge me for a full manicure when I told them they cut my cuticles only after asking for it after the SNS. My thumb got nipped and bled during it. My eyebrows were left with a sticky coating of wax as I was checking out. It's sad because I've been there many times before but the lack of communication, caring, and courtesy was absent this visit and I was led to tears. read more

I've been going every two weeks for nearly six months now on my Party Mom™ days. It's so very worth it, but that free + validated parking doesn't hurt either. I usually grab a cocktail at LEON's and then head over to the salon, and then finish up with one more cocktail. Since I worked in the food service industry (and had a toddler), I never used to get my nails done. It felt like a waste of time. When I *did* try (on special occasions) at other salons, my poor nails came out as some bumpy-ass THICC bois. (And they charged insane prices.) HOLY SHIT, y'all... these ladies are crushing it. I'm boring - I like a classic, almond-shaped red nail. But... sometimes the most simple things are the easiest to get wrong. I've had SNS nails done by almost every member of the staff, and I receive so many compliments each time! They got my natural nails to grow out over two inches long, and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone: I tried this beautiful deep navy shimmer that looks like space, and a gorgeous "new-penny" copper shimmer to DIE for. They are so thorough and talented in their work, and you can tell they have fun. read more

He paid much attention to detail, and made sure I was satisfied at each point in the process. I even got my brows waxed here for the first time! The first two times I went, they did an ok job. They were busy and it took a while but that's really no big deal. The third time, the technician used the wrong color and when I pointed it out in the beginning, she didn't want to change the color. Just tried to say it would dry dark enough. I'd asked for egg plant and she was painting them lilac. When I asked for the correct color, she seemed super annoyed and had a different technician finish. I wasn't planning on coming back after that. But, I did. And that's on me I guess. This time the technician seemed to be in training? The polish is horribly uneven. I am so happy I found this nail salon! I have been twice and twice I have been treated so well and had great service. The prices are pretty average ($40 for a fill in with gel polish). Lovely pedicure action! Great conversation. And you leave so relaxed. I always want to go take a nap after. If you park in the deck next door they give you parking validation (it doesn't have a time limit so you can go grab lunch after and leave your car). It's quite small but they are planning to move a few doors down to a larger space so I can't wait to see the new shop. read more

I really regret having to write this review. I have been an occasional client here since 2019. I was so happy to go in last week for a pedicure on my Birthday - and after a year away due to COVID19. My pedicure went well, and I felt comfortable enough with their COVID precautions to ask for a manicure. I had never had a dip powder manicure before, so I thought I would give it a try. Molly was my manicurist for this service. After picking my color, she sat me down and started dipping my nails and applying the various coats. I asked her why she wasn't soaking my cuticles, pushing them back, or trimming any of the skin around my nails. Her answer to me was that plenty of buffing and trimming would happen during the application process. I thought this was odd, but had no experience with dip powder and no reason not to take Molly at her word. As the process continued, I noticed that there was a large gap between where the polish ended and where the nail ended. I complained about the gap, and Molly said that had to be like that because if the dip powder and sealing coat got on to my cuticle, it would chip and peel off. OK. This sounded sort of reasonable, but I said that my nails look terrible - like two weeks of regrowth. I mentioned I wanted my nails to look like hers - with the polish covering the entire nail to the cuticle. She told me that she had a gel manicure and what I wanted was not possible with SNS. At this point, I said that maybe an SNS manicure was not for me, and I should just stop and have the powder removed. She then told me that she would reapply the powder to to cover more of my nail. Which is what she did, Through all of this, she kept answering her phone, responding to text messages, and telling me she was going the extra mile to make me happy because they always want happy customer. You can see from the photos below that the manicure still looked awful and amateurish. She happily let me pay full price and took the 20% tip I paid. I paid full tip for both services because I wanted to be sure the lady who did my pedicure got her full tip. What upsets me most besides the poor quality job are the stories she kept telling me - as if what she was doing was on point. It just sort of adds insult to injury. I found a new nail salon the next day. The nail tech there was shocked about the how thick the polish was. She spent 45 minutes removing the dip powder from the previous day. She then gave me a proper manicure- soaked my nails, pushed back my cuticles, trimmed around my nail. The difference between two in the photos below says it all. The additional $50 I paid on top of the $93 was totally worth the result. I understand that everyone has a bad day from time to time, but it was being lied to that really, really upset me. We all have to work hard to earn our money, we should be able to enjoy spending our money and not feel like a fool when we do. read more
