I've had to bring it in for service three times and each time the service rep has given me an eta of a couple of days, and in each case it takes at least two weeks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They said they would call or text when the bike was ready, and in each case I've had to call to find out the bike was ready.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service department needs some training on setting and managing customer expectations, as well as following up on letting the customer know when the repairs are finished, especially after keeping the bike way past the initial estimated finish date. read more

This shop is probably the most popular bike store in the Atlanta area. It's pretty clear from the start they're sponsored by Trek, and the store personnel try really hard to pitch the bikes to you. Especially as someone starting out, I'm not comfortable dropping 2K on a Trek bike especially with how expensive bikes are and how bad the supply chain is. Most bikes they were trying to sell were out of inventory or had a very long arrival in the future. They seem uninterested in helping you build a bike, and want to sell their complete bikes. read more

I've been a loyal Trek rider for the better part of my life, so I was very excited to come here. I came in on a Saturday and while they were busy, I was greeted as I walked in. The store front was typical of what you would find at most bike stores, but this one in particular carried mainly Bontrager and definitely only Trek bicycles. They carried everything from entry level bikes to high end beauties. As I was only here to look around, I ended up purchasing a few things anyways just because I wouldnt be able to find them elsewhere, unless I purchased them online... mtb shoes, a Jersey, and two shirts. I will definitely be back again the next time I'm in the ATL.... it's cyclocross season soon! read more

After having an unpleasant experience at their Roswell location in 2020, the Ansley location provided relatively good service for routine checkups under the warranty that came with the bike (the warranty is the only thing that kept me coming back). Unfortunately, I took my bike in to diagnose a problem and the service manager did not seem to have time or a deserve to diagnose my concern. A couple days ago I went in for a repair. I didn't know if my chain, pedal, or gear was slipping, but I suspected it was one of those things. Something was slipping and my foot was falling off of the pedal because the bike was jerking and it seemed like the chain was slipping. I described what was happening to the service manager and it seemed like he was doing everything in his power to talk me out of leaving my bike there for a repair. He put the bike on the rack and basically said nothing was wrong with the bike and tried to sell me a tune up. I told him something was slipping, and that it was dangerous, and I almost fell off of my bike several times on my way home on the last ride. I told him I was not comfortable with just a tune up, I needed to diagnose and fix the issue that was causing the pedal to slip. I finally talked him into going outside to test ride the bike. He came back in about three minutes later and said nothing was wrong with the bike. I had to talk him into coming outside and watching me ride. As soon as I got on it, and rode under the conditions I described to him, it IMMEDIATELY did the thing and the pedal jerked and my foot slipped off the pedal. This was a SAFETY issue and I could have just left if I listened to him and got hurt riding again. After he watched it jerk with me riding it, he kept telling me it would take three weeks to repair and he tried to discourage me from leaving the bike. I really cannot understand why. After I told him I did not mind if it took 3 weeks, I just wanted it fixed correctly, the real time on my receipt was only 1.5 weeks (half the time he told me). This person was working HARD to give me poor service with a terrible attitude and push me out of the store without properly diagnosing the issue. And once he had an idea what the issue was he was really trying to get me to leave with the bike or do a quick repair and leave. There was no one else in the service area and he was standing at the computer when I walked up. I guess he had better things to do than help me. Or just didn't want to help me. Or maybe they had a pile of bikes in the back waiting to be serviced and the store just doesn't need business because it's just that busy. Whatever it was, I am disappointed that excellent service still isn't a priority at Atlanta Cycling. Instead of writing a review first, I submitted a "contact us" message on the company website. A manger called me and that conversation lead me here to leave this review, and I have decide to pull my bike and take it someplace else. I was quoted a subtotal of $287.97 for my repair. There are absolutely other places that will value me as a customer and treat me with respect that need my business more than these guys do. Please support your small, local bike repair shop. This local chain is not providing the quality of service to all customers that is worth your time, energy, or the price you pay. read more

I have read the reviews on the yelp page especially from a one John Q. P. There are always two sides to every story and I would love to hear Avery's side. My experiences with Avery have been 100% enjoyable. He has gotten me out of a pinch even when I needed a last minute change on my bike when I was going to Galveston, TX to do an Ironman 70.3. Instead of being told they didn't have anyone that could help in such a short notice, I heard Avery was going to skip his lunch to help me. This type of service is unheard of especially at the last moment. He sacrificed his time to help me be successful in a race. I can't think him enough. I also can't thank Big Bill from Michigan, I mean Colorado, I mean Atlanta lol. He is a fellow triathlete and I needed his help with my setup my hydration. Instead of just getting me a water bottle, Big "Battle Creek" Bill helped me with nutrition, saddle bag setup that was not aero or convenient, and tips for fueling food (calories, carbs, and caffeine) through my water bottle. He also did the due diligence of looking up the Ironman race to see what type of Gatorade bottles the aid stations would be distributing to help me with my cages. You don't get this type of service from anywhere else especially when a bike shop is so busy. They have the best selection, the best expertise, and the best repairmen in Atlanta. Just moved to ATL and was looking for my "New Bike Shop" which is a big decision! A local tri-athlete recommended Ansley for bike tune ups. First, if you're looking for a tune up, give them a call and schedule it, I did not, but they were still super awesome and took in my bike, which I very much appreciated. I told them, "I think I need a new chain", the measured it on the spot and said that while they'd love to sell me one, I don't need it. Classy. When I got the bike back from the tune up, they said it was in such great shape that the full tune up didn't really apply and charged me a lower rate. Needless to say I was floored. I will be buying all my equipment and tune ups from here for as long as I'm in the ATL. Honestly, as good as it gets. read more

I am a serious urban cyclist with 25 years in this city, and I know all the intown bike shops. I rarely go to Ansley Cycling though, because it is not easily reached by bike. But the one time I did go I had what has to be the worst retail experience I have ever had in Atlanta. The problem might not be the shop itself; it might just be the particular person who was at the counter. I was so shocked by his behavior that I asked for his name: Avery. If this guy Avery is a regular worker at Ansley Cycling, then I would recommend to everyone to go elsewhere. (Loose Nuts Cycles on Cherokee Ave. in Grant Park has struck me as the best place in Atlanta.) The service was so bad, it was almost amusing. It resembled the Monty Python skit, "Argument Clinic" (google it.) Let me try to reconstruct it. I had been gifted an under-seat carrier pouch, but it didn't work on my bike because of my saddle design, so I wanted to exchange it for something else. I explained this to Avery, and he immediately informed me that I was wrong. This bag fits all bike seats. He was so dismissive of my problem that I almost gave up right there. But I was sure that it didn't fit (and the next day I confirmed that I was correct.) So I held my ground and asked if I could get a store credit for something else. My Trek shifter-grip was falling apart, so perhaps they could replace my shifter-grip? Avery informed me that this was impossible. Trek no longer makes this grip, and there was absolutely now way to get a replacement. (2 weeks later I went to Intown BIkes on Monroe, and they replaced that shifter grip on the spot for $25.) So then I asked if I could get a refund. Avery said that without a receipt that was impossible. I told him it had been a gift, and so perhaps he could credit the original purchaser's credit card. Avery said that was impossible, too, since neither of us knew the credit card. I said I knew the giver's phone number, and pushed him to look it up. He found my friend's info, but still could not do a refund nor an exchange. (In fairness, my recall of these final moments was a bit fuzzy, because I was so shocked by his behavior.) Anyway, I told Avery that this was the worst retail experience I had ever had in Atlanta, and I asked him his name. The whole incident was surreal, almost to the point of hilarity (you really must google on that Monty Python skit.) I am giving one star here, but it applies more to the person than to the store. If the owner replies and assures us all that this particular individual is not a regular employee at the store, then I will take down this review. The whole experience was so extreme that I cannot believe this is how Ansley Cycles regularly conducts business. Ultimately, I took the bike pouch and went home. (That was a month ago, so this review is not being written in the heat of anger.) read more

I can't say enough good things about this shop. I bought a Trek Emonda AL back in late March to replace a Felt that had mechanical issues. I was in a panic because I was training for California LifeCycle (545 miles from SF to LA) and I was in the middle of the training season. I'm tall and need a larger size bike, which most bikes shops don't care in store, special order only. Knowing I was in a rush, they fit me using their very sophisticated equipment to find the exact size I would need. We discussed options and ordered the bike. I was nervous because I thought it was going to take a few weeks which meant eating up valuable training time...but that was not the case. Mikey worked with Trek to get the bike expressed so the shop so they could put it together for me before the weekend. I was blown away at the service! They could easily have sold me another bike already on hand but would not have been an optimal riding machine for me. A.C. treats you like family, taking care of the minor maintenance and always bending over backward to handle my needs... This place has a customer for life. Hard to believe the reviews for this place. We came in to purchase a bike trailer for our 2 kids, and I'd called ahead to confirm some specifications about the trailer - specifically the price point and whether it converts to a stroller. They said yes and yes, so we hopped in the car. We get there and they've put the trailer together for us (very nice, thank you). Everything went downhill from there - the salesman knew nothing about trailer. Turns out it didn't convert to a stroller, though he repeatedly tried to convince us it did, as well as sell is the incorrect accessories to do that. My husband then got online to verify and found that, nope, no stroller conversion. Additionally, he knew nothing about the other trailer options and repeatedly gave us incorrect information. On top of all of it, he was surly and made us feel like he was doing as favor to help us, and as we were leaving he was unpleasant to our 4 year old who accident bumped into some bikes. Way too many other bike shops in the area to spend our money here. PS we also asked if a tri club met there (we're pretty sure it does), and his answer was "yeah, I think I've seen a group of people meet outside." Way to be knowledgeable, friend. read more

Derek was awesome to work with! My husband and I were purchasing bikes for our thirtieth birthdays and initially went to a few different stores in the midtown area. We walked into Atlanta Cycling and knew this was where we'd get our bikes! They had the largest selection out of all the stores we visited and had a brand (Trek) that we were familiar with. Derek was standing right at the door to greet us and learn exactly what we were looking for when we walked in. He took the time to get to know us and our needs and was very informative about all options. He made sure we had all necessary information on our bikes before we made a decision. He also took the time to fit us and test out the options. After he walked us through everything we were both in between two models. With his recommendation we did not pull the trigger on our bikes the first weekend we came by. Derek advised us to think about it and sent us a very detailed email with all our options. He never tired to push the sale on us and truly wanted us to make the right decision for ourselves. We were back in the following weekend with our minds made up and he helped us order the bikes and purchase accessories. They have a great selection of helmets, water bottle holders, locks, seats and even baskets! We picked up our bikes last night and Derek had all our pre-ordered accessories installed when we got there and showed us how to remove the tires and make small adjustments to our bikes. Atlanta Cycling offers free minor tune ups throughout the life of the bikes, but there's times we'll need to do some things ourselves. We couldn't be happier with our bikes and are about to go out on our first ride through the park and on the beltline! Thank you Derek for making this experience so great! read more

*sigh* Ive become that person Ive made jokes about in my past. You know, the folks who drive around in beat up cars with rims that cost more then the car itself. Well friends, *raises hand* GUILTY!! The good news is that it's not my car, it's just my bike. Took my bike in to see why my back tire wasnt holding air(old tire), it was a simple $17 fix. I was almost out the door and on my way; but of course, me and my mouth in asking questions found myself in deep want. It all started when I saw the winter indoor trainers. They were on sale!! Aside from the bike itself, this trainer kit is my first major purchase for my cycling hobby. Having purchased the trainer, and being made aware of the wear and tear on the tires, I also purchased a new set of road tires. I then converted the newly fixed back tire to a trainer wheel. I found it humorous that the new set of road tires actually cost more then the bike itself. Not to mention the trainer kit.... more then the bike. Ben, the kindly gent making the repairs and explaining things, was great!! I could listen to him talk to me for days!! So calm and patient... my high strung and inquisitive nature seemed to have no affect on him. Chad was the chipper gent setting me up with my trainer and new wheel set. His upbeat attitude and awkward humor made the visit fun. I like this shop, for the most part the folks are very nice and eager to answer questions in a polite and helpful manner. As soon as you drive up someone will pop out to help with getting your bike off the rack, LOVE THAT!! The parts department? FANTASTIC!! Overall? Yeah, it's kinda pricey, but that's the world of cycling. However, the folks at AC will work with your budget and give you options that dont include eating ramen for the next year. =) read more

I had an outstanding experience with this store! I had called them around 5:45pm today about bringing in my my bike for a repair of my bike. They set the expectation that it could be up to a week based on the volume of repairs. I got there about an hour later anticipating to drop my bike off for at least a few days. When I arrived I was assisted by their staff and fixed my issue right on the spot and tightened my other brakes and put air in my tires. I cannot remember the bicyle mechanic's name, but I really appreciated it. I highly recommended going to this this shop for any of your bicycle needs as I intend to. read more

The boys at Atlanta Cycling went above and beyond. Little backstory-Had triple bypass surgery in September 2019. Because of kidney failure. For those who don't know your kidneys are not just two useless organs. They do a lot. Like filter your blood. Long story short- I NEED A NEW KIDNEY! Just one, even though most people survive on two. One is enough to do the job. Back to Atlanta Cycling, I have not ridden my mountain bike that i bought 3 yrs ago much. Just sitting collecting dust. Came with a free tuneup when I bought it. Never used it. This past Sunday (1/15), I took my bike back to see, if they would check out for me. They honored the free tuneup from three years ago! That customer appreciation! I'm from Denver and after moving here about 16 months ago, I discovered Atlanta Cycling. I purchased a used Trek after moving here along with a second used Trek Domane carbon road bike there last summer. Today, I picked up a new Trek hybrid bike from them it was an FX3. I road it this evening and absolutely love it. I had originally spoken to at least a half a dozen bike shops in town but somehow, I kept returning to Atlanta Cycling off Piedmont road. My salesman was Avery. He was very helpful, respectful and possessed great knowledge about bikes especially Trek which is his specialty. Like most people, I don't normally take the time to write a review but I am compelled to do so. Avery was amazing to work with and fited me to a T. I had also spoken to Corvez and Ed during my prior visits there and the theme at this bike shop is that they care, offer a great value and the vibe is amazing. Everyone there obviously loves their job and is so enthusiastic. I am a small business owner and feel the same about my profession but experiencing this first hand at a bike shop was truly refreshing.
