The flavor was buttery, it had a swirl of olive oil on it that only enhanced the flavor. The chowder was supposed to come with crackers but our waiter Maicoll accommodated me by switching up to the focaccia bread and my oh my am I grateful he did! Thank you Maicoll! While I expected this to be a very stereotypical pub experience, the most disappointing was the service. Our server was all over the place, at one point serving half my table drinks while leaving the rest of the drinks on the side and walking to another set of tables to take their order and get their check. While I completely understand the struggles of being understaffed, it was very odd to have someone leave midway through several times. This behavior continued when we tried to order food as well. The food was subpar, and there weren't many items on the menu that didn't feel heavily fried. I am not sure if things used to be different or if some of the glowing reviews (on which I based our decision to dine here) aren't based on recent experiences, but my family agreed that this was the worst stop in our week in Bar Harbor. Multiple running jokes stemmed from the food and the service here, though I will saw that our server was very nice and tried to give us a great experience. Of the four of us, two meals were entirely inedible. My younger son got the steak frites that he ordered medium but it arrived so well done we had a hard time cutting through it. We told the waitress and she said she could see pink and couldn't have it re-cooked without bringing the manager over so we just got him another meal as we walked around downtown afterwards. an expensive mistake of an order. I ordered the short ribs and they were extremely dry and flavorless. The bar is big and clean and has a lot of trimmings of a true Irish pub, but it's an expensive hotel restaurant and I don't recommend it. read more

This was the best Irish pub I've visited this side of the Atlantic. The bangers & mash was a perfect symphony of the tangy horseradish sauce, the buttery mash potatoes, and rich sausage. And the blueberry pie....the blueberry inside barely needed any sugar due to the fresh blueberries used. Our server Nora was very attentive. When I asked for a lemon wedge to squeeze in my water, she squeezed it herself. To top it off there was a live music by Takoda Dionne. I have honestly never been to a restaurant that was so clean -- everything was spotless and well cared for. Our waitress was wonderful! They also took our allergy concerns very seriously, which meant so much to us and made us feel comfortable ordering. After not having great experiences with the food in Bar Harbor we were really hesitant to try Paddy's but we were so cold coming off the boat after whale watching that we really needed something to warm up with. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos so you'll just have to take my word for it! We started with the lobster bisque and the French onion soup. My BF really liked his bisque, my onion soup was flavorful- only ding was that the cheese wasn't put under a broiler so it was pretty blonde and didn't look melted but the soup wound up melting it and the pretzel toast inside had no flavor- so that bread definitely couldn't stand up to the soup. My BF ordered the stout burger and I got the corned beef sandwich. Both super flavorful and large portions. My sandwich unfortunately was super soaked on the bottom piece of bread- which was a bummer because the top piece was delicious and crunchy. Fries were crunchy and the pickles were good- you could tell their food was homemade and not pulled from the freezer and just slapped on the plate. Our waiter Liam was very attentive and friendly not only with us but with all the tables around us. Overall a good place to stop in if you're hungry and don't feel like a lobster roll. read more

We were seated promptly and a waitress took our order. We ordered two smoked seafood chowders and the seafood dip. Both were outstanding. It is one of the best chowders I have had. The chowder had big chunks of seafood and a very light smokey flavor. It was a large portion. The dip came with triangles of what is similar to a naan bread or pita, but different in a good way. It was tasty as well. I would recommend either of these dishes. Had I known how large the chowder was, I wouldn't have ordered the dip. Stopped by here for a quick bite while exploring Bar Harbor. I'd imagine this place can get quite busy, but we were able to walk right in and get a table. They have a pretty decent menu with a wide selection. The Crab & Lobster dish was DELICIOUS. Warm, cheesy fondue that was packed with fresh lobster and crab - I was pleasantly surprised by how much they put in, especially for only $16. Hands down, the best appetizer, and perfect to share at the table. Great drink selection with quite a few blueberry options as well. We grabbed both the Blueberry Mojito and the Wild Blueberry Martini. Both were great, but the Wild Blueberry Martini was our winner - more unique and just checked all the boxes. Service was great, and our server was kind and attentive. Biggest complaint was that their water glasses were not properly washed. Right off the bat when we sat down at the table, the glass at my seat had a big chunk of food still stuck on the inside. Got a fresh, new glass and had no issues afterward. Wouldn't be my first stop for food in the area, but a good choice - especially if you're with a group of people. read more

We were seated quickly for an early afternoon meal. Service was prompt and our server was very attentive. Noise level was an acceptable amount given the time of day and how busy they were. We started with one of the freshly-made pretzels which was amazing! After nearly devouring it, I remembered to take a pic. Not so much for the main course. I forgot. I was starving. But amazing. Our meals consisted of the corned beef and cabbage, Irish Hills steak frites, fish & chips and haddock sandwich. Let me start by saying, the corned beef was the most tender, moist corned beef I have ever had...and I want mine to be as good! I cannot begin to explain the dish without giving credit to the portion size. Followed by the best corned beef and veg I have ever had. The fish and chips were a hit and definitely a full portion size. The haddock sandwich was cooked perfectly and definitely raised the bar! My steak was amazing and cooked perfectly. This place is located right on the corner at the boat dock and has indoor and outdoor seating. I think breakfast stops at 11:30 because then a sign pops up that the kitchen opens at noon for lunch.Our whale watching trip was canceled due to weather so we didn't have much to do and they offered us 10% off here so we gave it a try. First, our server was super friendly and efficient. Quickly brought my iced tea while we looked at the menu. The menu had a great variety of choices. My husband and I like to split lunch so we don't eat too much. We settled on the onion soup, and the chicken club with fries. The soup was fabulous! It was hot, which I love and full of flavor. The crunchy onions on top were a great addition. The sandwich was served on fresh bread and the chicken, avocado, bacon, lettuce and especially the tomato jelly were a great flavor. Fast forward to a few minutes ago, we went back for drinks and asked to sit on the patio again. The hostess proceeded to tell us that the patio was only for guests who were eating dinner. Mind you, it's 1:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. What a horrible way to treat customers that you've now seen three days in a row. Thanks for making us feel like s**t. Wish I could take my money back from the other two nights. Maybe hire hostesses who don't turn down customers when there are plenty of open tables. Customer service is simple, do better. Based on the reviews at only 3.8, we were a little leery about going but we just wanted something close to the water and somewhere we could sit inside. The overall experience was much better than we expected. I had a local blueberry ale, that was great and a bowl of lobster bisque; while it wasn't the best bisque I've ever had, it was good and hit the spot. My wife had the farmers salad and said it was fantastic, we also shared one of the house made pretzels, which was exceptional, both the Guinness mustard and the beer cheese sauce were great with it! An Irish pub might not be the first thing you associate with Bar Harbor, but I've walked by this place a bunch and always thought their food looked pretty good, and we finally tried it this year. We shared the Caesar salad and the brussels sprouts for starters and enjoyed both. For my entree, I had fish and chips and it was really excellent -some of the best fish & chips I've had anywhere.
