This is a lovely place with harbor views to enjoy the evening. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate, blueberry side salad, flat iron steak, and burger. In hindsight, this may be a better option for a drink and some appetizers. Both of our entrees were fine -- my burger was more undercooked than I'd ordered it, and the lettuce and tomatoes on it looked kind of sad, but my wife's steak was very good. We appreciated the candor of our server, Kim, who talked us out of getting one of the appetizers, as it's often sent back. The Terrace Grille has one heck of a setting. We arrived around 5:15pm on a perfectly clear, sunny day. The atmosphere was easily the highlight of the evening--we had a lovely time soaking it all in. Unfortunately, the food and drinks did not live up to the view. Cocktails arrived too warm. Crab & Artichoke Dip was mushy and tasted like something from a chain restaurant; the naan it came with was clearly store-bought. The Maine Seafood Pappardelle was the biggest miss--the pasta was overcooked and falling apart in the bowl, and the broth was flat. Semi-generous with seafood, but shrimp were small & piddly. Dessert was the only bright spot food-wise, although quite sweet. We tried the Maine Blueberry Pie and Chocolate Lava Cake. Our server was friendly, but too busy to be attentive. Would I recommend it? Yes, but only for the view. We had a great time, but the food & drink were a total disappointment at $80+ per person. Note that they don't take reservations and open at 5pm, so I'd recommend getting there right around opening or 8p or later. read more

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn and had to try the Terrace Grill for its wonderful views and gorgeous setting. It delivers in that area! The menu has a lot of choices, which is nice. Our serve was super nice and attentive. I loved the wine glasses they used too! We had the crab dip, flat iron steak, lobster, burger, and the kids sliders. Everything was great! I did ask for my steak med/rare and it came out well done but it was still really good. We had the blueberry pie from the bar upstairs afterwards because the wind picked up and it got so cold! Gorgeous view! Fresh food. Accommodated our food allergies (gluten and lactose). We ate here twice because of the view, friendly service, and food quality. There was no wait for a table for 2. The butternut soup with coconut milk and toasted coconut was a combination (although summer-like rather than the typical fall flavors), the burger, lobster roll, and blueberry salad were good, the Lobster Cobb salad was generous although a bit bland. Saturday, July 2025: My husband and I traveled from Wisconsin to Maine and wanted an authentic lobster experience on the water. We liked the outdoor dining setting at The Terrace Grille so opted to have lunch there outside. We went there at 1PM on a Saturday and were seated right away. We didn't get a table right next to the edge but we could see the water perfectly from our seats. Our waiter was very friendly but he, and most of the staff, were transplants. Our waiter told us he didn't know where lobsters came from until he recently moved here. lol For an appetizer, we shared the Crab & Appetizer Dip. It was delicious!!! Definitely not healthy but we didn't care, we ate most of it. Tip: eat it while it's hot! It's definitely not good cold. For lunch, I had the Bar Harbor Lobster Cobb salad and my husband had the Steamed Maine Lobster. My salad was amazing! The lobster was fresh, tender, and overall the flavors of the salad went well together with the honey citrus dressing. My husband wasn't crazy about his lobster, he said the meal was acceptable but the lobster was overcooked. read more

The lobster bisque was out of this world! And the sear haddock with its mashed potatoes and heirloom tomatoes (the best bite of my entire trip). We had a great experience here! They don't accept reservations, only walk ups, but we had no issues getting a table. The outdoor seating area is GORGEOUS with great water views of Frenchman Bay and Bar Harbor. We ordered a bowl of NE Clam Chowder, Lobster Bruschetta, Lobster Chef Salad, and the Haddock. Becca was our server and she is fabulous--attentive and genuine interest in if we liked our food! We split the burger and the haddock sandwich with fresh fruit and chips. Was surprised to say I would come back for the burger (it was great)~ I'm already a fan of the haddock sandwich. Next time we would ask for more aioli sauce for the haddock. That being said, it was such a beautiful day and we had to go to Bar Harbor for another reason, so we decided to go to the terrace Grill at the Bar Harbor Inn, which has a beautiful view. I have to say our lunch was outstanding! We both ordered salads, mine was the wedge w grilled chicken and my husband ordered the Caesar with char. Both were excellent! The chicken on my salad was not the usual dried piece of chicken breast, instead it was poached beautifully and very moist. My husbands ceasar was beautiful and the char was cooked perfectly. I had the local haddock and my husband had salmon. Both were great but the haddock was the favorite! I like that they offer mocktails, I got the blueberry mojito one, which was good. I ordered the veggie pasta, I'm not sure if the pasta was cooked the full way because it was still a little tough - it could be because it was the second plate they brought out because the first had seafood in it. The view is top notch. Anyone can see that when they arrive. Reception desk personnel at this restaurant are very personable and attentive. Food is EXCELLENT. I recommend the blueberry bread pudding with ice cream for dessert. We sat in the outside patio area, that is just below the hotel, and we couldn't have asked for anything better for our quick stop in Bar Harbor. What a history the hotel has. Staying at the Bar Harbor Inn we decided to try the Terrace Grille for lunch. People begin to lineup as early as an hour before it opens. I guess the thing that bothered me about that was that there was no semblance of order or who should go first. That is, no line. The hostess would not make eye contact with anyone or speak to anyone until it opened. As a guest of the hotel we had a VIP priority seating pass but there was no instructions or facilitation by the hostess on how to even use it. Why not take names or numbers or something? Or why not ask if anyone is a guest of the hotel to please come forward to be seated prior to letting anyone else in? Seems simple to me. Once seated, our waitress was great. She was friendly, had a great sense of humor, helpful, and attentive. All the tables on the patio have a great view of the harbor. We had the clam chowder (not bad), Lobster Roll ($28), and the Black Tuscan Kale & Burrata salad with chicken ($23). The lobster in the lobster roll was actually pretty bland and tasted watery as if it was previously frozen. Not sure about that, just an opinion. I wouldn't order it again. The salad was very good, but just had too much dressing applied. It would've been better on the side. read more
