I bought a vanilla/strawberry hydrangea tree. not only did it never bloom but it died. so i went back and spoke to the employees to see how and why it died and if they do anything for me and there attitude was rude. they told me i buried it to deep. hahahahahahha i almost died right there on the spot. i been gardening for many many years and it was simply the tree not the how it was planted. shame on them for not taking this into consideration about some of there products that they sell because yes at times it can happen! read more

after writing a truly poor review for ATLANTIC NURSERY............The owner showed up 24 hours later because he knew they installed azaleas incorrectly. He offered $315 cash credit with a check.... He also offered a $650 "store" credit to purchase "other " plants at the Nursery and we would have to pay for the installation Mr Seig has employees that treat customers sooo poorly and he made no valuable restitution to help rectify the dead plants that were planted incorrectly . One of the two Pin Oak trees that I planted curbside years ago was barely keeping up with the other when they started to leaf out. My neighbor told me that a staff member at Atlantic Nursery had helped her years ago with and I took photos of my trees there. After carefully studying my sample and photos, Peter patiently explained to me what I should do to feed the trees now and every year. He gave me the product and went over the directions with me. I followed - will continue to follow his directions. The tree looks stronger every day. It hasn't caught up to its 'brother' yet but it gets closer and looks healthier each week. It's a shame that this business does not offer veterans discount . I will take my business elsewhere. All vets stay away from this place go elsewhere where they do appreciate our time and service with the United States military. Home Depot has the same nursery items at a better price and honor military veterans discounts every day 10% so all veterans go to where they honor our service to the country. read more

Beautiful nursery, came in shopping for ONE new houseplant and left with three. They have so many options, organized between low light to high light options. If you buy a plant and a pot together, they offer to plant it for free. Their pot options were also great. Just a little hint too, to those plant addicts, they had a little sale section with really nice plants. A good option to try out a typically more expensive plant. After speaking with one woman there, she gave me a rundown of my best options based on having a south facing window. Came home with a red sister after all. By the way, yes the prices are a bit higher (still more than reasonable) BUT they know where their plants are coming from. They stand behind their quality and can really steer you in the right direction - not something you can get at a big chain store. Plus, you're not walking out of here with a plant covered in mites. I was looking for a Coral Bark Japanese Maple tree and had no luck finding one at local nurseries or Home Depot. I expanded my search in yelp and Atlantic Nursery appeared. From the pictures it looks small so we called and asked if they had the above-mentioned tree and they said they had several. I drove there on a rainy Friday afternoon and the first thing we saw was a large, clean parking lot. Cross the street and there is a huge nursery. Beautifully maintained and decorated. One of the first trees we saw was the Japanese Coral. It was a nice size and great price. I put the tree in a cart and walked around looking for other plants when an employee ask if we needed anything else. At first I said no but then asked if he had more Japanese Maples and he said they did and brought us over to an even bigger selection. He picked out a nice one, much larger than the one I picked and also reasonably priced. He told us that if we buy a bag of topsoil and tree fertilizer they gaurantee the tree for 2 years. Great deal and I needed the topsoil anyway. He then brought us over to the cashier and then got the fertilizer and soil along with the tree and met us at the exit with another employee. They carefully placed the tree on the truck and made sure it was secure. The cashier was very helpful, going over planting instructions and signing us up for there rewards card. We get $5 off next time and $5 in birthday month. This will be our go to nursery for now on. Prices may be higher than Home Depot but quality and service does not compare. Prices were the same or better than other small nurseries. read more

All the associates were putting flowers in stock so they were busy and when I waved someone down I only got 1 min of help and then they walk away. So I finally picked what I needed I waited on line to purchases over $150 and wanted to buy topsoil and told the lady I wanted 3 bags to be told I couldn't because I didn't have them with me and she overcharged me $30 and I asked for a refund All I can I will not and never be back again. read more

A terrific nursery that has ALL of your gardening needs. These guys have been here forever and are family owned, so getting your supplies here is supporting a staple of the south shore that has (most likely) been here a lot longer than you have. A few weeks ago, my wife and I bought a Christmas tree here. Upon getting it home, we had tons of trouble getting set up correctly in the stand - it wasn't straight, it kept listing to one side and eventually fell over, and no matter what we did we just couldn't get it right. We called Atlantic Nursery, asking for any type of advice and what happens.....the owner of the store actually drove to our house, replaced our stand AND helped us set it up in the new stand. They could have simply said "sorry, we don't know what to tell you" and we pretty much would have accepted that. Talk about going above and beyond! No manager at a regional or national chain would ever spend more than 2 minutes on the phone with you, let alone doing something like this. Huge thanks!! I enjoy this family-owned nursery in Freeport. They generally have a good selection of quality plants and fair prices (it's a private shop, not Home Desperate!). Staff is always pleasant and helpful. If you're part of their rewards membership program, you get a tote bag and every Tuesday is Tote Tuesday, meaning any regular priced items that fit in the bag receive a percentage discount. I came on yelp to find a reputable place to buy a Christmas tree, and was excited after reading the reviews for Atlantic Nursery in Freeport. I drove all the way to Freeport and found my perfect tree for Christmas for $120 but was concerned about the height knowing I had a 7 foot ceiling. The sales guy assured me he was 6'4 with hands raised and assured me I would have no problem so I bought the tree and brought it home. Once on the stand it didn't fit in my living room! I called them and they instructed me to trim off the top, I did as best I could and after several attempts the tree is now touching the ceiling! It's not possible to trim anymore and there is no way I can get a tree top on my tree so I called the store again. They asked me to bring it back but my help getting the tree home was now gone and I couldn't do it alone. The guy puts the "boss" on the phone with me who promptly told me he would have to charge me $50 to send someone out to basically correct their mistake!!! Seriously?????!!!!!! Well thank you Atlantic Nursery for your sour Christmas spirit by screwing a first time customer! Apparently your all about money gouging your customers when you are not willing to correct the mistakes or unscrupulous sales tactics of your own staff by charging the customer a whopping $50 more, to right your wrong!!! I will never get anything from them again! Completely unsatisfied Customer at Christmas because of Atlantic Nursery in Freeport!!!!! Lesson learned, this is not an honest business! read more

11/13/18: Hubby was looking for paperwhite bulbs. The associate was quick to help us locate and provide information about the plants. She and another associate were very cheerful and seemed to be happy at work. What a good feeling to shop while so much positive chatter amongst other customers. They have their Christmas trees up and decorated which was definitely aesthetically pleasing. The nursery was clean and simple to navigate. I specifically appreciated their signage that was understandable. (I am discouraged easily when the wrong prices are indicated.) I see now why the hubby makes Atlantic nursery his go-to spot. So let me tell you a little story. Bob Cratchit and his wife (played by my in-laws) are moving and decided they don't have time or energy to decorate or celebrate for Christmas. Understandable, but sad. All of a sudden, the morning of Christmas Eve their hearts grow three sizes bigger, and they make the decision to celebrate Christmas with the family. So they set Tiny Tim (played by my wife) in motion to collect the biggest goose she could find and decorate the house. Once the house is decorated, they were missing something.... A TREE! After calling a few places and being told there are no trees, they had given up hope. Tiny Tim while finishing errands drives past the Firm of Scrooge & Marley (played by Atlantic Nursery) and spots a few remaining trees. Tiny Tim dashes in and asks a wiseman if they had any trees left. Like the star over Bethlehem he leads her to their two remaining trees. One, a gargantuan, would be far too large for their house. The other tree was perfect. Perfect height, perfect width, perfect needle per branch ratio. Perfect. As the wiseman starts to assist Tiny Tim with putting the tree in her sleigh (shopping cart, didn't want you to think she got it in her car), Scrooge (played by the manager) himself comes out and puts a sold tag on it and tells Tiny Tim that someone else had already bought it. You sir are in need a visit by ghost three and will be on the naughty list until you clean up your act. Thank for ruining Christmas Mr. Scrooge. read more

Probably my favorite place to come. They make my home landscaping beautiful. Knowledgeable and very friendly staff. Quality plants and always stand behind their merchandise. Had many questions about caring for arborvitaes. We put ten in back in 2010. They were four feet high. With their help and knowledge they are now over 12 feet tall and gorgeous. read more
