If proximity to the beach/boardwalk is what you desire, Atlantic Sands can deliver, but for a price of course. We stayed here for a short family trip with our toddler and enjoyed that proximity. The hotel has on site parking which is convenient and included in the room cost. It also has a few spots reserved right near the lobby entrance for check in we didn't know about in advance but you do now. Due to the proximity to the beach, we were able to get on the beach very early sans crowds, see the sunrise, go get breakfast in the hotel's restaurant, walk part of the Boardwalk, then go right back to the our room to clean up and take a nap. The convenience where your money is going if you opt to stay here. I would say that the front desk service is just ok, esp when you're paying pretty handsomely to stay here. For instance, the hotel advertises that you can reserve umbrella/chairs with a 10% voucher so I called from our room, spoke to the same male receptionist twice then the next day made our way to the receptionists in the lobby. The lady I spoke with proceeded to ask me if who I spoke with. I normally try to remember names but this particular one had not identified himself and I had made the last minute judgement call not to ask. When I asked why that mattered, she said we were supposed to pick up vouchers in the morning. Nowhere does it say that nor did the male receptionist mention this the two times I called. Nor did I understand why that mattered since we only wanted to use the umbrella/chair for less than two hours late in the day. Finally, she proceeded to look for the umbrella and chair vouchers. Even the box labeled "chairs" only contained umbrella vouchers. So basically what was supposed to be a 2 minute endeavor turned into a much longer one. To top it all off, no one was manning the umbrella/chair stand at either of the two kiosks we tried so after we spent a short time on the beach we asked for a refund with the lobby receptionist on our way back in. That employee we spoke with offered zero apology for our inconvenience or anything like that. He gave us an absolutely deadpan look then said he'd refund the charge. I'm glad he did but again, for the price you're paying for these rooms, you'd expect a bit more customer service. There's a vending machine in the lobby for which you can use your credit card to buy stuff like bottled water, wipes, sunscreen but we found a nearby convenience store (RB convenience on Rehobeth Beach) within pretty easy walking distance where the water was in larger quantities and cheaper. The restaurant and pool on site are convenient although the pool was out of towels a few hours before they closed and those were not restocked although I did see an employee bringing over towel disposal bin for used towels. Overall, the price you're paying here is for proximity and convenience, not for the customer service. The interior is a bit dated (hallway carpets could use some freshening, etc). Our room did have a microwave and mini fridge although the website only advertised it having a mini fridge. I recommend staying here if proximity and convenience are what you prioritize. read more

We arrived in the evening on a Sunday, At first, it looked like there wasn't enough parking, but then we realized that there was a garage underground. We got a spot there and never moved the car until we checked out. It was actually preferrable to us to have it below ground and protected from the elements - and also from non-guests who might otherwise vandalize. Our room - oceanview - was absolutely oceanview. The only bummer being we overlooked the pool - which was always PACKED during the day (and noisy). However, we did have a lovely view of the beach. That worked out great as our last evening they had some life guard competitions on the beach and we could see it better from our balcony (2nd floor) than we could from the boardwalk. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially when we managed to lock ourselves out of the room. We were able to rent the beach chairs and umbrella through the for a 10% discount. We got passes we presented to the actual vendors. I highly recommend you go down before 8:30 am and get the vouchers to stand in line at a vendor tent at 8:30 when they open - to avoid long waits and get a good spot on the beach. The room itself was fine. We had 2 double beds. Linens were clean but the towels were not the best. They looked new but were not soft. Room had all the basics - large fridge, microwave, coffee machine (K cup) and OK sized TV with pretty good stations. They have a restaurant on site as well as a little coffee shop. Nothing is free (no complimentary breakfast). We packed our own stuff so we were all set The room was pretty quiet and fine for sleep. I think the only downside was the price. Costs are so much higher this year or maybe here - compared to what I paid prior years for other beach boardwalk oceanview rooms. The boardwalk was decent. A fair number of classy restaurants for us to pick from. Prices were high but perhaps that's the area. They had cheap food, too - as well as souvenir and beach shops. All in all, the hotel was exactly what we needed. A good location on the beach with everything we needed without having to drive anywhere. I found this place to be better than some of the reviews I read prior to booking over the winter. But we usually find places acceptable and more like the positive feedback than the scathing reviews. I recommend this place and would most likely stay here again - as opposed to the limited other options we saw in the area. However, this is not our favorite boardwalk so we won't be back. Our favorite is Wildwood so that's we're were headed next now that we've tried all boardwalk beaches. read more

This place is way too overpriced. Staff is not helpful. We stayed for 5 nights and only one day did they provide room service, even then it was completely half a$$ed. The other days they just said we could get more towels and to leave the used ones on the floor outside the room. Also we found blood on the sheets. When we wanted new ones we were told they would be coming but after 30 min when no one arrived we called the front desk and were told to go to the lobby to get the new sheets. While we were there the fire alarm went off 4 times. This was startling and jarring. No one could assure us of the etiology or that we were safe. It was not pleasant. We did not sleep well. I would not go back to this property. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

3.25 stars. Atlantic Sands is a nice venue albeit dated and needing a little TLC in terms of a renovation of some of the areas. I've been here twice now, first in October '22 and again this October for a work related conference. It's situated right on the boardwalk which is a big plus. The rooms I stayed in were clean and quiet. Parking is ample and there is plenty of street parking if the lot is full. Just be aware it's metered parking but October is off season so the ticket folks didn't come around. The conference provided breakfast and lunch which was made on site. It's your typical fare and a meh in my book. The Tiki lounge which is on the ground floor is nice but again dated. The conference provided dinner the first night which included a raw bar which was nice. The rest of the offerings were again average. Like I said it's a nice venue and you can't beat the location. A little bit of upgrading and improvements would make it a really nice hotel. read more

No hot water in the shower until maintenance "unrestricted" the faucet. Had clothes to iron. Iron in room but no ironing board. Our family has stayed at the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth Beach for the last four summers. Initially, it was a great venue that met our admittedly modest needs but, over time, the facility has greatly degraded and is desperately in need of a major reboot. This past week we booked two partial-view suites at the hotel and encountered the following issues: (1) Our room smelled absolutely awful upon entrance, and for the entire time at the hotel. Best we could determine was that it was from mildew. (2) The phone in our kids' room did not work upon arrival, and even after we reported this to the front desk in person and they said they'd send up a repair person, that never came to pass and the phone was still not receiving calls at the time of departure. (3) The housekeeping was, to be frank, the worst I'd ever seen. - They did not vacuum the rooms unless asked. - Beds were not made. - Bath and hand towels were not replaced. - Paper products like kleenex were not replaced when used up; when she asked for more, my wife was told that they were out of kleenex. She saw a box right there on the cleaner's cart. - We were told that no cleaning could be done after 11 am, but the reg desk said that was not true. (4) The rooms' water pressure was incredibly low. (5) The bed covers were paper-thin and the pillows were literally the size of a throw pillow. (6) There were no USB charging ports on any outleted devices such as table lamps. (7) Repeated calls down to the front desk were not answered; in fact, not one of the dozen+ calls we made down there were picked up--the line just rang and rang. (8) The facilities really need a significant upgrade; years ago the hotel looked nice but they've made no improvements since. In general, the hotel's location on the boardwalk is great for convenience, but it seems like the Atlantic Sands is trading in off of that single asset at the expense of everything else. Ownership/management needs to stop being so cheap and give customers more for their buck--especially when they're charging nearly $500 a night for this type of mess. That's just robbery. read more

I had recently had knee surgery and twisted it while on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. My friend and I were staying at The Sands Hotel. I called Reception and asked if it was possible for a late check so I could ice my knee. Alisha very kindly gave us an extension until 11:30. But she then spoke with the Manager, Carl, who extended the late checkout until noon. The Sands was a great place to stay, with excellent, friendly service. But the kindness extended by Carl and Alisha pushed The Sands over and above as a wonderful place to stay. read more

I do not even know where to begin with this place. When we got there, the roads were blocked off because of a gas leak (at the hotel). I called the desk to see what we should do and the gentleman starting arguing with me, telling me that he could see spots for me to park even after I repeatedly told him the streets were blocked. When we finally got there, we were told that the gas leak did not affect our side of the hotel, but when we got up to the room we had no heat and no hot water. The same brainiac at the desk then informed me that he did not know they had shut the gas off to whole hotel. Then we had to wait while they replaced a piece of gas pipe, even though there had been another incident just two days before and they already knew they had these issues but tried to ride it out. This same genius told me he would call mm personally when we would have heat and hot water, but left without doing so or informing his relief. They only way we knew we could take a shower or turn the heat on was because I called the front desk and the overnight shift informed me the gas had been turned back on for a while. When we checked in, we asked for some water for the room and were told they did not provide that and I would have to use the vending machine across from room 116. This was the same genius with all of the aforementioned bad information. When we checked out, I enquired what the service fee was for. ($39 per night) One of the things was refreshments in the lobby. I said, "what refreshments?" and was told that they have water. I told them what we were told at check-in and got a "We're very sorry about that". The service fee is also for the pool...which is covered now because it's cold...which is why we were mad about the heat. You see where I'm going here? The paint is literally peeling off the walls, the carpets throughout are threadbare, torn, and stained. The bathtub wouldn't drain. The elevators are ancient death traps. And who the hell stuffs a salad with vinaigrette into an omelette? The GM (Ian) loves to tell people with complaints about how they are planning some revocations down the road. Even assuming the management team here has shown themselves to be trustworthy (they have not), how the hell does that help anybody getting the shaft now? I would be disappointed in this place if it were a $100 a night beach shack. But spending over $1100 here for three (3) nights off season is infuriating. They did tell me they were knocking $120 off my bill but 1. that is not even close to what needs to come off it and 2. they did not actually do it. Do not stay here under any circumstance. Stay ANYWHERE else. There is a Hampton Inn a mile or two up the road, stay there and drive to the beach. This place is a disaster, a train wreck, a falling apart ripoff. But it is right on the beach, I'll give it that. But actually staying there will absolutely ruin your family vacation. Do not do it. read more

This hotel is perfect location. Right on the boardwalk and beach. We had an ocean view king room. Pool was perfect and staff at hotel and at pool side were very nice. Rooms are Spacious with microwave and refrigerator. That being said they really need to remove carpets in all their rooms. My allergies kicked in at night due to allergens and presence of carpet. Invest in engineered vinyl it would be cleaner and easy to maintain. Especially since guests are tracking in sand and dirt. Carpets were pulled and saggy. Rooms had somewhat updated furniture and comfy bed but bathrooms need to be updated. Overall a plus for Location and service. Would be 5 star if rooms were updated. Pool area needed more chairs and umbrellas especially when traveling with kids shade is a must. read more

Ive been staying at the Sands for theclast 3 years. Last year and this I paid for and booked ocean view over the pool. I never got the room I booked. Last year I knew the hotel rooms really needed an upgrade. But this year I really found it worse. The bathroom grout is disgusting. There was yellow stains around bottom of the toilet and not very clean behind the seat. The torch lamp had something spilled on it that was never cleaned up. The check in staff in the evening was a bit snarky when I wanted to change rooms. I just was thankful I brought lysol wipes with me. I highly do not recommend staying here. I will definitely be in Rehoboth next year but will find somewhere to stay! read more

What a fantastic place for a wedding!! They (Joe and Mercedes) made sure everything was perfect at my sons wedding and were so polite and easy to work with. We had over 30 rooms booked for the weekend and all were pleased with the accommodations. This is not a Marriott so realize where you are. They are doing a fine job and will help in any way that they can. They also have a nice pool and beautiful views of the ocean. The beach is perfect and the boardwalk is so well kept. We fell in love with Rehoboth Beach and can't wait to come back and stay at the Atlantic Sands! read more

I was worried after reading the reviews of this hotel. But I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. I was greeted and checked in by very friendly staff. The hotel is divided in two. The ocean front side and the ocean view side where all the conference rooms are. I was on the ocean view side. The entire side seems to have been revamped a bit, new carpet paint etc. My room was nice and clean, new carpet, paint etc. Only complaint would be, if you were remodeling all the rooms, why didn't you remodel and replace the old faucets and shower head. The exhaust vent in the bathroom. was dirty and caked up a bit, as well. But other than those two things the room was fine. My balcony overlooked the road and other hotel but if I turned I could see the ocean. Most of the staff was extremely pleasant, I did run into a few employees who avoided eye contact and didn't want to say hello, but you get that everywhere. The restaurant and tiki bar were fun and enjoyable. Food was good drinks were good. The hotel's located directly on the boardwalk, and also in great walking distance to lots of the shops in main drag. The conference coordinators and help were great. They made sure it ran smoothly and they had everything they needed. So overall it was a good stay, nice room, and great location. read more

This is our first stay and will be our last. The location is amazing, but we are absolutely freezing in our room. The thermostat reads 61 and there is no heat option to warm our room. The maintenance worker said our options were only opening the curtains to let the sun warm the room or the front door to the hallway to let the warm air in. We are here with three kids including one baby who unfortunately doesn't sleep with any blankets in his crib. My older two are in beds with their bed sheets and extra blankets up to their noses as are my husband and I. Tomorrow, we are heading to Walmart to buy a space heater for the rest of our stay. We stay here every time we are in Rehoboth and I will admit that the rooms are just Okay (my only "complaint") but you can't beat the location. It's close to everything in town. We park our car when we get there and don't get in it again until we leave. This past weekend we had our wedding in their ballroom and the sales and event staff did a fantastic job. I can't think of a single complaint. From the very first meeting over a year ago Joe and his staff have been top-notch and very attentive to detail. On the morning of wedding day we arrived to the ballroom and everything was already set up the way we asked. The ceremony was set up beautifully as well! I can't say enough about the food. It was EXCELLENT. Joe and Mercedes made the entire process relaxing and stress free. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a beach wedding. DON'T do it! Coffee maker- broken, told to wait until the following afternoon to get a replacement. Safe broken, told "we have no more replacement doors, so haul all your valuables around with you". Moldy bathroom floor, one tiny bar of soap for use both in the shower and at the sink for everyone in the room. Beds are uncomfortable, room temperature could not be adjusted. No water bottles, no glassware for fixing a cocktail. Tiny window overlooking a parking lot so being "beachfront " is moot. Everything about the place screams CHEAP and WORN! read more

Ok. This place is really dumpy. I have to agree with another reviewer that this is at most a 1 star hotel. However the location s what you're paying for. We booked a last minute stay at $420/ night. The bathroom is teeny w no counter space. It also had a low dropped ceiling with lots of mold. The carpet is totally worn and the beds are extremely uncomfy. I did see a lot of folks stay at other hotels that had shuttles and rental chairs. (Hotel reho) and that looked cute. Underground parking is super sketch. Resort fee and f $1.50/ night. Okayyyy. We didn't have housekeeping bc we were there only 2 nights. For this price you'd think there'd be a mini breakfast or something. read more

I just have to be 100% honest here -our stay at the Atlantic Sands was not very pleasant -or welcoming- at all. For multiple reasons (*cough* front desk *cough*). And we definitely won't be coming back. The 5 stars I'm giving specifically go to the housekeeping department and the housekeeping department ONLY. When we left our room to go home, in a drawer, I'd forgotten: a Vera Bradley beach towel, a new Norwex beach towel, another beach towel that my daughter got for her 1st birthday, 2 women's swimsuits, my daughters swimsuit, and my husbands swimming trunks. All of those items were brand new. When I realized I forgot them, I literally bawled. The hotel staff were so dismissive and absolutely useless in getting any information from, but the housekeepers were just amazing. They were able to box everything up and overnight it to me. My stay was pleasant and relaxing. The front staff were professional and courteous. You are paying for the best option for beach accessibility, the convenience of the Tiki restaurant, bar and Café was awesome. The lobby is clean, updated and inviting. There are live bands Friday through Sunday at the center court of the boardwalk for free, which was a family-friendly event. The manager Craig was super helpful and friendly to me as an out-of-state customer. Some repairs are required, the carpets on every floor in the corridors. Update the beds in all the rooms and suites and spruce up the outside entry. I will definitely be returning. read more

Got BAMBOOZLED by hotel's booking agent. Granted we booked late, but when we called we specifically requested a room with two beds and a balcony. Was told we were getting two beds, a balcony but limited view. We walked in and there are two beds and a window that doesn't even open. All for only $20/night less than the price of a room with a balcony and a view. Would have been nice to get what we asked for. Of course nothing is available in the hotel for us to switch to. We had to book this place in Dec/Jan in order to get a spot for early summer (June). Even still it cost us close to $330 for a beach front hotel on the weekend. The room themselves are okay, a little dated but not completely worn out. Honestly, it was a little better than we expected. So the bads first, the phone didn't work, bathrooms are smaller than we'd like. Over the course of two days we were out for MOST of the morning/day, by the time we got back around 2pm our rooms were STILL not made up, so we had to skip this service for two days and just grab extra towels. Doesn't make any sense. In terms of the pros. It has a nice, well-maintained pool, there's a service guy there that was accommodating who put up the umbrellas when they saw us sitting there in the morning. They have free rentals for beach chairs and umbrellas. In terms of location you literally cannot get any better than this, less than two blocks from Rehobeth Avenue. We were able to grab food at all the great places in the vicinity. Overall, we had a good stay here. I think as long as you don't set your expectations too high I think you'll have a good time. read more

Was soooo looking forward to celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary at this property. Paid for a beachfront view - we were given a room on the first floor (which totally minimized the view). We could only see the small part of the ocean from one of the corners in the room. The staff placed us right next to the ice machine as well as the housekeeping utility room so, we heard quite a bite of noise - as well as noise from people who did not respect the "quiet" curfew. NOTE: we went back to the front desk and requested another room - we were told "no rooms available" - mind you, we checked in at 2:30 (official check-in time is at 4). Found it hard to believe that EVERYone checked in earlier than we did. Will NOT be returning! Was sooooo disappointed! read more

My car club has a mini-convention here every year, and we just love the place. The location can't be beat, it's the largest hotel around, and they have underground parking. The rooms vary quite a bit, though, with differing sizes, views, etc, so choose your options carefully. Once you stay there, you may want to remember the room you stayed in, as some are nicer than others- and not just in that magnificent beach side view. Oh. Here's a good piece of news. I called ahead, and they said they will accomodate my Electric Vehicle (EV). I don't know where they'll plug me in, but I'm betting that it's in the basement parking area. Finally once, HANNAH came back to the phone and I asked her why she put me directly on hold without stating the hotel name then she very obnoxiously said the hotel name and her name then put me back on hold and never came back on the phone. So far this seems like the best bet for a hotel that has suites and is in the boardwalk. The room was decent be definitely needs some upgrades to correct the stained carpet and arm chair and slightly mildewed balcony chairs. I've been staying at a new hotel every time I come to Rehoboth and by far this has been the worst one yet. Checking in staff was very nice, parking is great, the view is wonderful. Although everything is else sucks. Rooms are so outdated for the price. Walls are paper thin you can here your neighbors conversations clearly. Our A/C unit decided to make a terrible banging noise all night. And there's no real bedding. All square decorative pillows, no comforter just two top sheets and a blanket. Wow, I have no idea how this hotel has 4 stars on Google Maps!! I booked an ocean front room. My room and the second room I looked at, smelled soooo bad. Like someone had been smoking, even though it was non-smoking. I also found hair on the bathroom towels. In fact, the entire hotel smelled old, and had a musty smell. You can smelI it in the hallways. It's like an old carpet smell that's soaked up odors over the decades, YUCK!!!! I literally started sneezing on my way to request a full refund, which they graciously permitted. The walls are thin, I could hear another family talking and laughing through the walls. I really wanted to enjoy the ocean front view, and I did take a few minutes to take it in, before I left same night. Also, the older white female working the front counter 3 weekends ago, made a snarky comment about using Expedia. I told her my room was poor quality, and she responded with something like, "Well, you wanted to save money by going with Expedia, so that's what you get." Made a total fool of herself. And she told me the awful smell was the hotel's brand of air freshener. WTF!!!?? She's lucky I'm a Christian, can't be provoked, and that I'm a man with self-control. I just ignored her stupid comment, and remained focused on getting tf out of there. read more

Great location. Probable in top three hotels in Rehoboth for location, but that was the only good thing about this hotel. Everything else was a disappointment. The carpet was dirty. The view from the balcony was another room with some man looking at us. The worst was that the electrical breaker tripped in the night and our phones and other electronics were uncharged when we woke up and our room was without power. maintenance was unable to fix it. Was hoping for a late checkout to allow our phones to charge and to allow more time for us to fumble around in the dark as we got ready, but no such luck and no apologies. I understand that shit can break sometimes, but it would be nice if they worked with us a little. Instead it was get the fuck out of the room at 11AM no exceptions so we can give this room without electricity so some other poor fuck. read more

This hotel is gross. We spent two nights there- it's dated and smelled of mold. They did not clean/service our room even when requested and had to ask the desk for additional towels. We paid more for a suite and it was tiny (we had four adults in the room). The fold out couch in the "living area" was disgusting. They must have not changed the sheets from prior guests and there were m&ms and chips in the bed. In the suite it was me, my husband and parents- we also rented another room for my brother, sister in law and their small children. The room they had was SLIGHTLY better with a balcony. The entire hotel needs a revamp. The carpets are incredibly disgusting in the rooms and throughout the property. I would steer clear of this hotel. It appears nice from the photos online but it is certainly not (especially for the price). This was our first time in Rehobeth for a weekend so we don't have anything to compare it to for advice bur I am pretty sure this experience ruined any chance of planning another Rehobeth beach vacation. read more

Granted, if you go here expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel, you'll leave unhappy. You won't find 5 stars in Rehoboth. Very much a family friendly hotel - ie: lots of noisy kids - but the staff from the front desk to the waiters and even housekeeping staff are super friendly and helpful. Couldn't have been any more pleasant. Especially the young foreign people here on a form of work and travel visa. They made the stay here an absolute pleasure! I kept remarking on their great attitudes - happy to be working and looking forward to the month they get to travel the states when their jobs at the hotel ended. That plus the fact that you open the drapes and are looking straight into the ocean - get an oceanfront room and you'll be more inclined to overlook the hotel's shortcomings. Yes, it's worn around the edges and some maintenance issues are evident - water pressure, sluggish sink and bathtub drains and so on - but the staff more than made up for it! Not worth the price!!!! The only good thing about this hotel was the location, right on the boardwalk and one block from the main strip where all the food And shops are, it is about the only good thing I can say for this hotel....oh and that the new part looked like it might have been nice. Sadly I was in the old part of the hotel, which is in desperate need of some paint and carpet updates in the hallways. This would have been excusable had 1) the carpet in my room not been soaking wet (happened to two others attending the wedding and staying at the same hotel) and 2) my fire alarm...and only my alarm...went off multiple times at random during the night and finally at almost 1am they came and disconnected and removed it so I could sleep and 3) the only way to cool down the room was to turn the temperature to 60 degrees and fan on constant....it was barely 60 outside! And finally the bed was so hard and the sheets so overstarched...for $200 a night I expect better! There were other issues, for example there is a single ice machine and vending machine on each floor, in the new part of the hotel and at the opposite end of the hotel from my room and only work sometimes. Who wants to walk 5 minutes to the opposite end only to find the dumb machine isn't working and you have to go to another floor! Several friends rented a home for about the same price per person/per night and I think that is the only way to go! read more

First time in Rehoboth. Hotel room is soooo outdated. Toilet seat was beat up and you felt like you were going in a child's bathroom....it was so low. Staff didn't smilie and no greeting as people came in and out of the hotel. I do love the location. Tourists and locals were friendlier than front desk staff. read more
