This is the only place I'll buy my seafood. Always fresh, lots of choices, and friendly and helpful staff working there. Once or twice a week I stop in for a piece of fish. Sometimes I'll get one of the delightful sauces they offer, other times one or two of their sides. They also carry the best breads and veggies just in case I need to make a complete meal. I'd just returned from a trip to Sicily where I'd eaten fresh seafood EVERY day and had to find a place where I could find fresh, reliable, abundant seafood choices. I found it! The selection was overwhelming in a good way. Atlantic Seafood was a 25-minute trek from home but worth it. They had frozen octopus and calamari, so I could prepare a cold seafood salad; squid ink! so I could make pasta al nero di seppia; purchased organic Norwegian salmon for dinner: SUPERB flavor; and ordered a little container of marinated shrimp to stave off my hunger: perfect. Can't wait to go back with an ice chest and bring home more fruits of the sea! read more

I ordered 3#'s of shrimp for Christmas Eve, as I have done here in the past. Picked it up at 8:00 a.m. on 12/24. They require you to order prior for the Holiday rush so it is ready, pre packed when you get there. It felt a little lite, so I weighed it when I got home on a good food scale. It weighed 2.29 #'s I called and was told " you probably won't understand this but we weigh each pound and then we clean and shell it".......WHAT?!!!! Almost 3/4 # of shells off of 3#'s?? Hard to believe! Guessing that this is a regular practice of Atlantic so beware as I am sure I am not the only one that got shorted on Christmas Eve! So I am thinking that when I go in and ask for a pound from the case, I get about 2/3 of a pound because they removed the shells and cleaned it before they put it in the case?! Very deceiving and we will NOT be patronizing this store again! BTW, we went to Big Y right after to pick up a few things and hubby got a pound of shrimp from their fish market, just so we would have enough for our crowd. Weighed that and guess what? It was a full pound...AND it was cleaned and shelled!!! Oh yeah, it looked and tasted as good as this place that ripped us off! read more

An excellent seafood market. The swordfish was incredibly fresh as was the shrimp we purchased. Lots of great additional items to pick up including soups, fresh bread, salads, spices, etc. A well run store with fair prices and a good selection for the size of the place. We will be back. read more

We found this place, thinking it was a restaurant, but it's a fish market that also has some prepared foods. It's super clean inside; the air is cool and it smells of delicious fresh seafood. When we come back to the area, we're going to bring a cooler with some ice so we can take the fish home. We decided to split a pint of the cold shrimp and dill salad to eat in the car on our way to a sit down restaurant and it was quite yummy and perfectly cooked. read more

Atlantic Seafood reminds me so much of when I was a young boy spending my summers at Holdens Beach, North Carolina. My father was a high school principal, so when school was out off we went for the summer. We would always got to Joe's fish market, this is where the shrimp and fishing boats would dock with the fresh fish and shrimp just caught, that was over 50 years ago. Atlantic Seafood is the only fish market in all those years of living in New England that reminds me so much of Joe's fish market and wonderful family memories I have. I was very impressed when I walked in there for the first time. Staff was friendly and the place was fairly clean compared to most fish markets. I bought two pounds of steamers and one pound of cooked shrimp. When I came home and pulled the shrimp out, the bag seemed extremely light. I threw it on the scale and it weighed 10.5 ounces. I called and spoke to an "employee" who I'm quite certain was the manager and I explained what had happened. She told me that they weigh a pound of shrimp, clean them, cook them and package them back up for shrimp sold by the pound. Scumbag move. I have spent my entire life in the food industry. I know all the tricks and I have a keen eye for the games. They played it. Couldn't be more disgusted with this business. If you say "cooked shrimp - $17.99/lbs" - that means you get a pound of cooked shrimp. Not a pound of raw shrimp and then cleaned and cooked. Sorry. I will never, ever go back to this establishment. I have zero tolerance for scum business practices like that. If I could give zero stars - I would. read more

To me, it's all about customer service...Apparently not Atlantic Seafood. I bought one of their incredibly expensive pieces of pottery, just under $300 for a shower gift - not even the first piece I bought. It must have had a hairline crack because before the bride opened the well packed gift, it had split in two! How embarrassing. The store said I could buy another piece for $150, and the potter never even responded to my email. Why would I spend another $150 on something that may also split in two? Never going back; horrible customer service..they could have done MUCH better. I'll be buying my fish down the street. read more

i'm surprised no one has reviewed this place yet, so i'll do the honors. this is a little hole-in-the-wall on route one, across the street from action sports, with a little sign in front advertising "self-serve soup!" what they don't say is that their soup is amazing. while rummaging through the store earlier today, one of the storekeepers generally offered a cup of delicious gumbo on the house, hearty, with a hint of spiciness, and lots of little shrimps. albeit little, the place is armed with refrigerators/freezers with frozen homemade seafood items (a la pasta vita, but not pasta), and desserts, and fresh-baked bread -- challah, too! as well as custom grain mixes, spice rubs/mixes, a good supply of great looking wood planks on which to grill -- for great prices -- and little gourmet seasonings and marinades, etc to accompany everything. i got their prince edward island mussels and their organic norwegian (never-frozen) salmon, and immediately went home to test 'em out. let's say that the mussels were "restaurant-quality!" in the words of a roommate, fresh, and hardly any grit -- even when i forgot to rinse them. the salmon was melt-in-your mouth heaven, and one of my cats, the true salmon connoisseur, had her paws on my knee until i fed her some as well. also noted was the lack of fishy smell that you'd get with a lower-quality seafood. my place didn't smell like salmon afterwards! i'll surely be back to check out more of their seafood selection soon! read more

Bought 2 lbs of mussels yesterday and half of them were bad. I no longer had enough to make dinner for two. I will never shop there again.

This is by far the best place/market to purchase FRESH seafood. For years I had been trying to save a few cents by purchasing my families seafood from a super market/grocery store. After one visit to this market, I will never again buy our seafood ANYWHERE ELSE. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that it didn't have an unpleasant oder that we have all become use to when buying seafood. Just that alone made me think that the product must be fresh. The staff were eager to help, and gave me cooking suggestions that I had not considered. The quality was AMAZING. in summary: for the cleanliness, the courtesy and the high quality of seafood, I give this market my continued business and my highest rating. read more

Incredibly fresh fish. Very helpful staff. We grilled up tuna, striped bass and swordfish and it was excellent. The highest quality fish that I have found. The precooked shrimp was tasty and they have a nice selection of side dishes and fresh bread. read more

i have shopped at atlantic seafood for several years and have consistently experienced a fine product, recently though, i had a bad experience. i purchased two pounds of lobster meat to make some lobster salad and lobster newburg and the lobster had a fishy smell. it just wasn't up to my standards and it made the meal inedible. it was quite disappointing, to say the least. i called the store to let them know they had bad lobster meat, so as not to disappoint any further customers, of worse, get someone sick. they apologized and took my number so the owner could call me, but that never happened. at $60 per pound i think they need to try a little harder when they have a sub-standard product. read more

I have shopped at Atlantic Seafood many times and have enjoyed their fish. However, I shopped there last Thursday and was very disappointed. I asked for !/2 pound of sea bass and !/2 pound of King Salmon which should have come to $19, but my bill was $30. She said she gave me "a little extra". But the worst is when I opened the bag to grill, the smell knocked me over. I actually had to clean out my refrigerator as some of the sea bass had leaked and it smelled up everything in there. Even after it was grilled it smelled bad. Fresh fish does not smell! Whoever sold the fish (a young girl) must have known this was not good fish when she "gave me a little extra' at $29 a pound! I will be finding another seafood source. read more

Lived on the shoreline for over 30 years, Atlantic is by FAR the best quality seafood around! The shop is adorable with lots of great extras, rubs, marinades, even fresh veggies! And you cant beat the service - the staff is knowledgeable and super friendly! Don't bother trying to find a better fish market, you'd be wasting your time! read more
