We have been buying from PV since they started and it keeps being a great place to get dinner. The stuff shells were better than most Italian restaurants around here . I've been going to PV for a very long time (since they were in their previous location). It's always excellent. Customer service is perfect. It's always crowded but I never have to wait to pay since it's so well staffed. Soups, salads, pastas, entrees, desserts - all excellent. I can't even fathom how people would give a 1 or 2 rating. I've never had a bad meal or experience in all the years I've been going here (and I go there often!) I even "outsourced" most of my 2025 Christmas meal to PV and everyone loved it. read more

I don't like to write reviews, especially bad ones.. But this time again, like several times the last past 18 months, or maybe it's even two years or longer.. I come home from work and I can't wait to eat and when I take the food out of the fridge to heat it, that familiar rancid smell fills my nose and then I realize that I wont eat anytime soon.. I'm talking mostly about pasta here.. I know what the culprit is because I'm a chef... I've been at your place many many times and what I noticed is how hastily sometimes your staff shelves the products.. Again, I noticed because my eye is trained to notice those things.. I really think an effort has to be made to make it clear to your staff to put the new products in the back and the old ones on the front and not just shove it in because they're tired or in a hurry... Rule 101 in the food industry ''PROPER ROTATION''.... To be honest, I'm tired to looking forward to a hot meal when I come home from work, especially when it's a simple pasta, and then discovering that it's spoiled.. Stopped by there the other day was happy to read the bright new signage that Pasta Vita does not use any inflammatory seed oils in their meals/dressings etc. When I looked at the list of ingredients on their salad dressings and chicken cutlets canola oil is listed.....last time I checked canola oil is a seed oil. I have had their breads many times and they are absolutely delicious. It's a very thin crust, that is filled from one end to the other. I just ate the eggplant Parmesan bread. A friend of mine brought me a loaf the other day and I frozen the leftovers. Took it out today and reheated it my air fryer. It was just as good if not better than the fresh one. The shining star of the bread is the crust and the amount of filling in the bread. I live 20 miles away, so the only time I get to eat their breads is when someone brings me a loaf I highly recommend their bread. read more

I had no idea when we walked in what to expect. It was awesome. I though it was going to be more of a walk in and order Italian deli but it was way different. Tons of pre packaged super fresh Italian goodness. There was so many people in there I though it would also take forever.... I was wrong. I honestly got one of the best garden salads I've ever had. Under $9.00 and HUGE. Lovely fresh veggies. Also tried a vegetarian curry dish that was delicious. Super fast and friendly service. Not much for ambiance but that's not what it's about. They're about pumping out large quantities of fresh delicious food. The kitchen staff must be massive because they are constantly restocking and putting out fresh goods. We'll be back for sure. Plenty more things to try. I wish they had one of these in Manhattan. It would be an off the hook success. read more

EXCELLENT prepared food market! I have been wanting to stop by for some time now. I generally grab grinders, Deli items, & prepared foods at WALTS in Old Saybrook which is ALWAYS CONSISTENTLY GREAT. However, I had heard FANTASTIC feedback about this place. So I was ABSOLUTELY THRILLED after my first visit! They offer a wonderful varied selection of prepared foods in their 8 LARGE REFRIGERATED COOLERS & 2 FREEZERS. EVERYTHING IS FRESHLY PREPARED!! They had salads, salad dressings, soups, side dishes, sauces, fresh full & half loafs of bread, assorted cookies, bars, pies, cakes, cobblers, and single/double and FAMILY MEALS. THIS PLACE IS A GOLD MINE! They have friendly, engaged, efficient staff. This place was doing an impressive brisk business which they were managing with ease. There were at least 12 other patrons actively shopping while I was there & the parking lot was busy! I purchased the Tuna Niçoise salad, Chicken Salad, Potato Salad, & Gazpacho. I ate 1/2 of the Gazpacho which was DIVINE: fresh veggies in a bright summery tomato base, with chives, onions, red, green, yellow bell peppers, garlic & spices. It was DELICIOUS. For dinner, I ate 1/3 of the Nicoise which was sliced cooked thin red potatoes topped with tuna, chopped tomatoes, 4 wedges of hard boiled egg, parboiled green beans & Greek seedless black olives & fresh herbs. FABULOUS! THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC! I don't think there's ANYTHING here that would disappoint! This will definitely be on my REGULAR ROTATION! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! ENJOY! read more

Haven't been back much since their atrocious handling of the pandemic (overpeopled store with no effort to reorganize to prevent shoppers from crowding in certain areas). Still seems to be profit over everything else; owner stands behind the counter like a grinning cheshire cat as the registers ring. Yes, it's convenient. But the prices are too high for portion sizes, and the taste and quality has gone down. Penne a la vodka had little sauce, nor the lovely flavor it used to have - just dry, salty and peppery. Wheat free lasagna at 17.00 was a mushy mess when baked, and if you have to portion the package contents, at least make an effort to cut it down the middle for equal portions. Everything I have purchased has been excellent. However there was one exception. Shrimp scampi. It was pasta, shrimp and some chopped tomatoes. No seasoning, oil, garlic, or lemon. I was very disappointed there was no flavor at all on the pasta. The shrimp was good but not a lot of flavor. I hope they correct this. I will continue to shop there. read more

I have been going to Pasta Vita for 40 years and I have found they are. putting to MUCH SALT AND CHEESE in their meals. I purchased roasted vegetables last Thursday and I warmed up three tablespoons and they were so salty I through the rest out. This is a review from a long time customer. Five stars are for the croutons that come with the Cesar salad. Four starts for the lemon cake-like cookies, very flavorful. Three stars for chicken soup with rice (when they have it, although it is a bit salty). Zero stars for the chocolate chip cookies, surprisingly awful, and the extra strong taste of pepper that has caused me to throw out things like the spinach and cheese Stromboli that I regretfully tried today, and have to rinse off the roasted broccoli. The heavy hand with pepper has caused me to stop buying anything other than soup and salad with a very occasional ravioli or eggplant Stromboli. It is too expensive to try something only to find pepper as the overwhelming taste, as was the case today. It has just happened too often now. read more

My first visit to PV. There is a wide selection of meal components. I noticed new items being added continuously. A staff person was maintaining the stacking in the refrigerators. Overall a clean operation with an incredible selection run by efficient staff. I told the cashier it was my first visit and she couldn't have been nicer about showing me how to access online menus. Unfortunately, several impatient and pushy patrons spoiled an otherwise perfect visit. We'll be back! read more

I was visiting in town and stopped here THREE times. :p First time I picked up a pie and brought it to a friend's house dinner party for dessert. I didn't have a slice (not a fruit pie girl) but others had slices and were super impressed with how delicious it was. Second time I stopped and picked up a meal for my Nani before I went and said goodbye to her to leave town to go up to NW corner of the state. She called me a couple of days later to say how delicious the food was. I got her chicken marsala, garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies and she said they were all really good. Third time was on my way out to head up to Litchfield County to visit another friend (who I've brought Pasta Vita to in the past and she insisted I stop and bring some up with me). I got 2 trays of our absolute favorite (chicken cordon bleu), mashed potatoes, and cauliflower au gratin. Delish! the au gratin needed a little something, but everything else was on point! I also picked up 2 meals for her mother in law. I got her the same meal as us, and also picker her up lasagna and a salad. She was super happy with both meals and commented that the lasagna was super delicious (which I've never had and want to try now). My favorite part of PV is the ease of it. Don't feel like cooking but want a home cooked style meal? They are fantastic. You can go and pick and choose from a HUGE variety of salads, soups, mains, and sides. I so wish they had one by me...well maybe I don't...I might be 100 lbs heavier if they were up the street all the time :p read more

We love the Chicken Parm, Shepherd's Pie, Chicken & Artichoke Lazagna, all of the quesdadillas, all deserts, chicken salad, the baguettes, honestly, the list for what we do't like is way shorter with not a single item on it. Hopefully they have fixed the issue of taking orders for Christmas and not having the item there for pick up! Ordered a lasagna 2 weeks in advance for Christmas a few years back to be picked up Christmas Eve, got there and they told me they were out of lasagna and said "someone must have picked up your lasagna and brought it to the register". I cannot believe I'm the only person that this has ever happened to, if so I suspect they willing gave it to a friend, relative or better customer. Either way I never and will never go back. Its really sad the closings of all but 1 of Pasta Vitas stores but if they cared or had any business sense they wouldve went about it another way! So many complaints of bad customer service, the food not being great (because it was when they first opened) and the prices!! Small containers for what you get, and using canned items insteads of fresh when your charging prices like that come on ridiculous! Its just sad because it didnt have to be like they couldve stayed with the rave reviews but when you start not caring about people you serve and i know you cant please all but most have legit complaints and you throw together the food you put out your all done. Just sad because i loved the chicken Marsala, and the beef bourguignon was to die for but when you use canned mushrooms and charge $30- and only get enough beef for 1 person its not worth it. The desserts are good but on a few occasions the Tirumisu was bad but had a different date on them well thats it for me i stopped shopping there. If Pasta Vita had a overhaul they would kill it. Now i know alot of people still go and pay those crazy prices in the Saybrook store because you got it like that but its just not realistic so theyll still be making money off of all of you but the other 4 shops closing probably had something to do with bad business in one or all of the areas i mentioned. The worst customer service, I had a young girl standing behind the register tell me to leave as I was walking in. This was back on June 28, 2021 and it was near closing time, understand it was the end of the day but how she handled it was very unprofessional. I'm giving Pasta Vita 5 stars from a catering standpoint, 4 stars on the store. When I've used them for parties, the food is really fresh and my guests love the food. The Chicken Limone (Chicken Cutlet over Linguini in lemon sauce) is wonderful. The mac and cheese has just enough spice to make it an "adult" dish, the beef burgundy is tender and delicious. I've been a customer for years and really enjoy a lot of their dishes. On the store, the serving size containers work well for 2-3 people. I don't mind paying more for good quality. My big issue is the pink and blue dot system. I have no idea when I buy something is it 1,2,3 or 4+ days old. I would prefer to have a date packaged or a sell by date. If I'm buying 3 or 4 dinners for the week, I don't know what order to eat them in. There has been times when I've bought the mac and cheese and it was creamy and delicious (very fresh) and other times, it has a dot (not sure which color) and it just didn't seem to taste as fresh to me. I know I'm picky so I'm just taking one star away. I'm still a big fan of the store and go there regularly. I just would like to know either what the color dot means or how long the container was in the case. read more

We have been shopping at the Mohegan Sun location for years. In December, we had a really bad experience with the staff at the Mohegan Sun location. Recently we noticed the entire cold case of tiramisu with expired dates on every package and there's a little sticker over the "best by" date. We think that is gross and maybe is it a health code violation?? We went in on Nov 20th and asked the cashier about this issue. She was a new employee and did not have an answer and there was no manager in the store. We went in again on November 30th, the covered up date on the serving of tiramisu was November 23. When we pointed this out to the staff, first we got different answers. "Oh it's a mistake, the tickets were printed wrong", "Oh don't worry, I know it's fine" and "the tiramisu was frozen, but now we can sell it". One staffer was really loud (even with a mask). When we asked her to stop yelling and could we speak with a manager, now since the place was empty, 5 or 6 staffers were all yelling at us trying to get their version of the story out. Multiple staffers kept yelling at us, hey if you don't want it, don't buy it. My husband kept trying to say they shouldn't sell food with expired dates that are just covered up with a sticker. When the manager showed up her answer was that my husband was being rude and should leave the store. Was my husband wrong for pointing out you shouldn't sell food with little stickers over the expired dates? Is there any customer service department at Pasta Vita? Or is this what Pasta Vita has become? You can sell anything, any way you want. "Hey if you don't want it, don't buy it". We emailed this info the Saybrook location thinking that was the main store in December. We had an immediate reply that our email was forwarded to Corporate and we would receive a response shortly. And that was the last we heard. Nothing from Corporate, or anyone else. read more
