After suffering from severe back pain for almost 3 years, I followed the general route of seeking care through an orthopedic office (Access Sports Medicine). This resulted in wasting thousands of dollars and valuable time (4+ months), with no results or improvement. After months of expensive and ineffective PT, I was told steroid injections or surgery would be the next best option with little to no confidence from my physician that the recommended course of treatment would result in improvements. I am SO grateful that I found CJ PT before I went through with the steroid injections as it could have resulted in a vicious cycle of injections, never actually solving the root of the problem. I learned more from CJ PT than I ever did from my physician; mechanical pain is different from chemical pain and should not be treated the same, herniations can heal with corrective movements, and steroid injections can mask the pain leading to further injury. The team at CJ PT was incredibly informative, educated me on ways to protect my back and help it heal and slowly introduced strength exercises to help get me back to baseline. Dr. Jill is phenomenal. She gave me the tools I needed to begin healing my body and got me back to playing with my kids and reintroducing activity back into my life. The tummy tuck he did perform made my stomach look even worse than what I started with. He did not pull the skin tight enough which left me with a shelf of loose skin above the horizontal incision he just didn't pull the skin tight enough as he should have. He also ruined my bellybutton, usually the incision is hidden inside the belly button so it's not as noticeable, he just went right around it on the outside with a diamond shaped cut and left very visible scar. He also did not perform the muscle repair like he said he would. He had the audacity to tell me at my 3 month appointment that what I was pointing out to him was a "bone" and not a separation in my muscles, acting like I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. He said that he did was he was supposed to do and then said he no longer needed to see me after that appointment. I'd also like to note that they never checked in on my after my surgery to see how I was doing and I was never given a phone # to call/text him if I had any issues. I was lucky enough to find another surgeon to fix his mistakes in April, 2023 and apparently, had a very bad hernia, which was not mentioned at all during Dr. Gray's appointments. The staff was more interested in getting me out the door rather than ensure my well being after coming out of surgery. I was still heavily sedated as they wheeled me out the door. The scars from the surgery were hideous and I had to pay a dermatologist for laser treatment to reduce the scarring. I suffered from severe contracture of my left breast. When I went back to Gray's office, all they told me to do was to keep massaging them. Had another plastic surgeon correct the issue and I should add the scars from that surgery were non existent! I highly recommend seeing a plastic surgeon who is associated with a hospital.

I prepped myself for this surgery by stumbling around my house blindfolded while asking "Could I live like this?" Even with that answer being a resounding "NO," I decided to finally take the plunge before my 40th birthday. In sum, so far it's one of the best decisions I've ever made, and I strongly regret not doing it a decade ago. The experience at Clear Advantage is streamlined and professional. You quickly feel like you are in great hands and that nothing can go wrong. From the front desk, to the initial assessments with the techs, everyone is extraordinarily friendly while also emanating an air of "chill out dude, we do this all the time." And really, that's all I needed to accept the frightening proposition of lasers slicing my eyes open. The surgery itself is quick and painless. Doctor Peters calmly explains the process, you're in the chair for maybe 10 minutes, and the laser is more fascinating than terrifying. I entered the operation legally blind. Immediately afterwards my vision was still blurry, but much clearer than before. After a 2 hour, Valium-induced nap, I awoke to 20/15 vision. I only had 20/20 with contact lenses. It was a revelation. You must avoid all tv/phone screens during the first day and are on a strict prescription and lubricated eyedrops routine for the next month. It's a nuisance, but easily worth it. I live nearly an hour from Clear Advantage and chose them after a recommendation from my local eye doctor. I was so impressed with the kindness and thoroughness of the process and staff. I initially wanted to get both eyes done but after reviewing one of my eyes they denied it due to some scarring from a previous ulcer. They noted that their practice is conservative with the patients they take and let's be honest, that is EXACTLY what you want when you're going to have a procedure affecting your eyesight. In terms of the procedure I definitely had some nerves but they truly put me at ease with explaining how quick and foolproof the technology is, if your eyes move, the laser moves. How cool? If anyone is on the fence about getting this procedure, I cannot stress enough how incredible Dr. Peters is as well as the whole staff at Clear Advantage. The 1-2 hours of discomfort after the numbing meds wore off is nothing compared to the feeling of waking up being able to see unassisted and without pain. I live a hour away and I am so happy I made the trek to Portsmouth to get this done. 10/10, do it.
