My last air conditioner had finally succumbed to Floridas long hot Summers. By August I was already having problems with clogged drain line, something that I specifically asked the man installing my air conditioner that I would no longer have problems with, and he assured me that I would have very few problems with clogged drain lines that he was going to take care of it. Anyway, on a Sunday night my air-conditioning turned off. I called Kyzar Air. They came out. Cleared the drain line. The young man that came to help me talk to me into spending $1569 on a pump that he swore would keep the drain line from being clogged. I paid for it with my credit card and was scheduled for the next day to have it installed. My father told me the next day that I was being silly that it was too much money. I spoke to a friend who and he also told me it was way too much money so I canceled the proposed pump being installed and advised them that I would just pay for the service call that night. It took five days they did not refund my money on my credit card for the purchase and instead after five days and be calling and complaining they refund a portion of the money, leaving a balance of $710 to charge me for clearing a drain line. I'm in shock because I've had lines clogged over the last 10 years many times and it's never $710 even on weekend. They didn't provide a bill for this drain line. They just simply refunded only a portion of the 1569 that I paid them the week before. I've spoken to several professionals who all told me this Was definitely predatory and vindictive on behalf of Kyzar Air. That this is payback for me canceling the expensive pumping wanted to put in on Monday. This is a predatory company. Simple they just will do anything to keep your money. If I were you, I would avoid using Kyzar Air.

Kevin Lanouette of Thresher Cooling in West Palm Beach is the real deal. A few years ago he serviced my old AC system, which was on its last legs. I told him I planned to replace it soon, but he honestly said it could probably wait. That advice helped me stretch the system another two years. When it came time to replace it, I got three other quotes, but I chose Kevin. Not because he was cheapest, but because I knew he does quality work, shows up on time, and treats customers fairly. During installation, he found no C wire for the thermostat. Because I requested it, he added it at no extra cost, keeping his original quote the same. The installation was clean, organized, and much easier to access than my old system. Later, I needed the air handler disconnected and reinstalled on short notice for a flooring project. Kevin rearranged his schedule to make it happen. When a roofing company damaged the condenser, he honestly advised it was cosmetic, but replaced it at my request. Kevin isn't out to make a quick buck. He genuinely looks out for his customers while still running a solid business. He's reliable, honest, and skilled. I will continue to use him for all my AC needs. Easy 5 stars. More if I could.

But after looking at some of the other Yelp reviews, I was hesitant to hire them. I received bids from three other AC companies and The Cool Team's proposal offered the best value. I checked with some neighbors and they were quite happy with The Cool Team, so I took the plunge! The telephone reps at their office were friendly, knowledgable and super efficient. They scheduled the installation within the tight timeframe we needed. The crew arrived on time and were very professional and friendly. They wore masks the whole time they were inside our condo and put down lots of canvas tarps to keep our place clean. The job took a little over 4 hours and I'm very happy with the results. My experience with CoolTeam is limited to services provided under a yearly service contract for a…read moreKings Point Delray Beach condo. It appears that CoolTeam markets heavily within this and other 55+ retirement communities, providing yearly maintenance and minor repairs (by contracts where the rate is based on age of appliances), to all appliances within a unit, plus minor electrical and plumbing. I think many of the elderly residents, especially those 80+, take comfort knowing that if something goes wrong with their HVAC or dishwasher or washing machine, they can call one number and a technician is scheduled. I used services under the existing service contract to have an AC unit checked and tuned-up, which cost $39.95, and again to have the coils cleaned on the AC, which cost $334. The coils probably had never been cleaned in the 10 years the unit was in place, as they were filthy, likely due to the use of a filter which was improperly sized, allowing dirt to enter the unit. Establishing an appointment for either wasn't difficult, call their local or toll free unit. The reason for the 3star rating was the demeanor of the tech who handled both service calls. He was gruff. He was abrupt. He had an annoyed tone in his responses to simple questions I asked. He was rushing. He was dismissive. He talked down to me. Bottom line, he was nasty, as if he was constipated and needed to take a good dump, or more likely, just plain disgusted with his life as a service tech where 95% of his clients were 85 years old. I'm not reading too much into his behavior, I think I'm reading him well. When I mentioned him to my contractor who had just finished renovating the condo, he knew exactly who I meant, and said "I'll talk to him when he arrives and set him straight". I don't like, no, I am repelled by service providers who are dealing with clientele in the 80's who treat them with disrespect, annoyance, impatience. Their behavior is intimidating to these elderly and sometimes frail or infirm residents. Management of CoolTeam should counsel this tech to be nicer and more sensitive. While I sensed he was efficient and competent and did what needed to be done correctly, I felt like telling him he was a nasty angry man, and that I hoped his Mom or Dad or Grandparents were never treated as rudely and insensitively as he interacted with me. And I'm not in my 80's, far from it. Oh, I still tipped him well, as my bleeding heart liberal NY upbringing came to the forefront and I figured most elderly residents under tipped or didn't tip at all, and he deserved to be recognized for his efficient and competent work. But he was nasty, simply grump, nasty, rude, abrupt. Like he was doing me a favor showing up and doing his job. (In college sociology course we learned the concept of "role disdain" - that's when someone's despises the responsibilities of their jobs, and takes out their annoyance about their life on those they interact with. I'm certain we meet a lot of people like that, huh? Check out other companies which provide the same package service contracts. Ask neighbors.

My $10K HVAC unit has had to have service at least 5 times (including the 2 visits for Service Contract) each of the 2 years that I have had it. In the last 6 months, MOLD has been discovered inside my AC registers and ductwork caused by water backing up into the air return and cooling unit in the garage....an ongoing issue. Kenneth came out and replaced the entire box in the garage and indicated that I would have to pay the $$1,145.00 charge because I had been informed in a previous repair, of the need to open the drain pipe from the unit. I looked up all the receipts that I had and could not find any such information so I requested a copy of the invoice. He told me he would have the office send it to me. I have gotten no response from Email, phone, or messages... This was so avoidable!

Bart quoted a coil replacement for $2400 labor. The other option was to add refrigerant and leak seal. Bart was very clear verbally and written NO GUARANTEES. He added refrigerant and charged for leak seal $1000. Turns out, he never added leak seal and the unit was not working again after 1 week. I called someone else who fixed the leak for another $1200. Bart wasn't honest except for the No Guarantees part. He doesn't know what he is doing. He was at my place for hours and all equipment was easily accessible. I only hired him because he was close and Yelp recommended.

I was using another company, but they sold, and I wasn't too thrilled with the technicians they sent to do the yearly service. I texted Jonathan, and within 5 minutes received a reply. I still had air, so it wasn't an emergency, and we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Jonathan texted and showed up right on time. He saw the issue, took pictures and told us exactly what was needed. He also gave us the best and worst scenario so there were no surprises. While he was out looking for replacement parts, he was in constant contact. Once he returned, the issue was repaired. I can't say enough good things about Jonathan Halpert and Halpert Air. Excellent service with good communication. Truly the best in the area.

My trouble with Jonathan and Halpert Air started when I bought 2 brand new air conditioners from…read morehim. One of the two had problems from the start(our guest house that we AirBnB). It had a leak in the refrigerant lines requiring a new coil inside the house. Simple enough, except Jonathan was not able to get it from his supplier as he "owed them money and was tring to figure ot out". This went on for 6 months, when our AC would go out every 2 weeks. If we were lucky, Jonathan would return our call or text and show up a few days later to add more of the leaking refrigerant. Meanwhile, we are scrambling with our AirBnB guests and even having to cancel some. The whole time, I was cordial and even came down to politely begging sometimes. Fast forward after 6 months of begging time and time again to refill our unit, he finally got his account in good standing and installed our part. This was installed about two months ago. All was well until our unit went completely dead late on a Friday evening about 3 weeks ago. I texted Jonathan at about 10PM (yes I know this is late, I apologized for this and explained we were going to the hospital early the next morning to have our third child). No response. Texted him a week later. No response. A week later. No response. I was completely ghosted. I finally sent him a text today(3 weeks later) mentioning I would be writing a review about my experience, and he completely flew off the handle at me. He blamed my late text as his reason for ghosting me. I think it would be tough to find a more patient and understanding customer. Not once in the 8 months of this nightmare did I ever question one step of this process. Not once did I lose my patience. Not once did I complain, ask for my money back, nothing. I am in the service business and understand things come up. This was above and beyond poor service time and time again. Currently it's still 86 degrees in our cottage. I recommend you stay away from Halpert Air if you are looking for a company that won't disappear on you when you need them the most. Run the other way.

We agreed on a price and had them install a new Payne Air Conditioner. Before the new air conditioner our summer electric bills we generally in the mid-$300 range. Since the installation of the new Payne Air Conditioner, we have not seen a $300 bill and we saved $700 on electricity last year. The only improvement we made was the air conditioner so the savings definitely can be chalked up to the new air conditioner. Great company to deal with.
