If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. Upon arrival I thought the place was gorgeous it had modern decor and very elegant. I expected to be wow'd, but to my surprise is was just the opposite. I attended this restaurant for my best friends birthday and we booked a private room (Even more of a reason to have been blown away). My visit started out on a good note, orders were taken for the 5 course meal and the staff was friendly. Once the first course came out it was about 45min until the next course followed. This was a trend throughout the night. There were meals that weren't cooked to the requested temperature and it took them 30 min to make accommodations. Once the staff realized everything wasn't up to the guests standards the service went downhill. They weren't attentive and didn't seem to want to please guests that were paying $120+ per person. The icing on the cake was that once we paid the waiter came back to tell us the bill was short when in fact IT WASN'T. AT THIS POINT AND SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT. Also, We had gotten Panna for the table, but then the bus boy not once, not twice, but THREE times tried to pour tap into our glass, we told them "this is Panna don't pour tap!" Guess what? My family and I dined at the Atlas and we're very disappointed by the selections. We tried several of the small plates including the fried oysters, fried green tomatoes, and the flank steak. My father also tried the Atlas steak, which he said was decent, but not good enough for the pricing. Atlas could have been having a bad night, but from now on me and my family will be dining at Southern Art orRuth Chris when we come in town. We gave this restaurant another shot tonight and I have to say I had a much better experience all around from the food to the service. I tried the leek soup, filet mignon with potato confit and grilled onions, and tried some of my dad's lobster. My steak was perfect, juicy and cooked to perfection. The lobster was amazing. Normally I don't pay much attention to the veggies that decorate my plate but they were so good!! Especially the potato confit. Presentation was on point . Our server was so attentive, took so much time to explain the menu, was super effficient, checked on us very frequently and went above beyond to accommodate my 1.5 year old into the fine dining experience. Obviously they dont have a kids menu here, but he suggested some options that my toddler would like and Chef whipped up some amazing buttered Parmesan pasta and delicious golden crusted chicken tenders. Um I would have been happy eating my 1.5 year old's dinner too haha. Who know buttered parmasean pasta could taste so amazing??! And that chicken tender was totally made special for her, and was so tender! We were out earlier and drove straight to the restaurant so I was completely unprepared to dine out with her at a nicer restaurant but our server totally made it work for us with small utensils and we really appreciated that because I know they don't have many babies come through here. I also ordered the Saint honore dessert, which is a vanilla sponge cake with vanilla whipped cream and vanilla praline and pate a choux. Omg definitely recommend this, its soo delicious. I've been to every upscale restaurant in the metro Atlanta area, and this was the last one I on my list that I hadn't tried. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed. Food was so underwhelming. But most notable of all was the speed of the meal-- we were in and out in 45 minutes! We were planning on ordering another bottle of wine, but there didn't seem to be a point. Our appetizers and entrees came at lightening speed. I've had longer lunches across the street at Whole Foods. For a restaurant of this caliber, that is embarrassingly fast. The Mr. and I were treated to a wonderful company dinner at Atlas last week and I am impressed. First, make sure you have deep pockets and a shallow belly bc this is a very expensive dinner that you should not arrive hungry for. That being said, my review is based on the food, the service and the ambiance. I was the last to arrive for dinner and informed the hostess that the rest of my party was already seated in the Hennesey room. She looks me up and down and points with her elbow no less, to the back of the restaurant and says the room is that way. That immediately made me upset. First off, you're a hostess. Your main job duty is to show people to their seats, not just make an ambiguous gesture towards the back which is where the kitchen is bc this is obviously not a seat yourself type of establishment. When I made an agitated throat clearing sound and ask, where? without budging, she sighs and starts walking without instructing me to follow. Halfway down the floor, she tells me over her shoulder that the room is already full and if I wanted to have dinner there, they will need to pull up a chair as if that in and of itself was me asking her to move the world. Her attitude already was wanting me to call management. Of course I wanted to sit there and have dinner, my party was already there! She was rude, and just seemed like another customer that night was not on her to-do list. Thankfully, I was shown into the room and there was already a chair for me and the waitress was so much better which saved the night. Since my party had already ordered, I glanced at the menu quickly and decided on the oysters for starters and the lamb as my main. Most of my dinner mates had decided on the dumplings so we shared a few bites from each others plates. There were about 4 pcs of oysters on my plate. Although tasty, nicely cleaned and cooked they just seemed so lonely on such a huge plate. My main was ok. I got 3 pieces of lamb, medium cooked but they were very inconsistent. The first piece was tough, I really had to lay into my knife to cut off pieces, but the second was so tender that my knife glided thru like it was butter and yet the third piece was also tough. Speaking of butter, I liked that the butter offered with your bread (choices are wheat, cheese and rye) was room temperature, creamy and unsalted. Service was pretty top notch, with the servers and the busers coming around frequently to top off glasses (wine, water & Henney). They even offered a glass of Henney with dessert which I had to decline since a) Henney gives me a migraine and b) I was driving that night. For dessert, I decided on the pound cake and SO ordered the doughnuts which were the popular item of the night as 4 other guests ordered it as well. My pound cake was good, a bit dry but it went well with the blackberry jam and vanilla bean ice cream. It wasn't overly sweet, but I could only have a few bites before throwing in the towel. I feel like the jam had way too much seeds and I couldn't keep eating it and being discreet while pulling seeds from my teeth. While walking out, a different hostess was validating everyone's valet tickets and you can hear the live band (which consisted of a singer and 2 string players) playing in the patio. If I do come back, I would like to sit out there under the lights! If it weren't for the awful hostess that dampened my mood as soon as I stepped foot inside Atlas would have received 4 stars. Fix your attitude and your face lady, don't spoil your customer's dinner. read more

Atlas is one of Atlanta's only 5-star fine dining experiences, and almost certainly the best option for vegetarians. The ambiance is cozy with plush booths, soft lighting, and live jazz. We were very impressed with the special vegetarian menu. Several dishes were superb but our favorites included the onion soup, gnocchi, and pumpkin ravioli. Service was impeccable. Not a place that we will revisit soon. We went on Saturday night and I guess the first tip-off was that it wasn't overly busy. At 7:00 pm, all 6 of us were able to walk in and sit at the bar and at least 2/3 of the tables were empty. Once seated it took forever to get drinks. Our server came over and introduced herself, but then took off before my husband and I could order drinks (the other 4 we were with already had drinks from the bar). It also took quite a while for someone to even come over with water. After our server finally came back and we were able to order drinks, another couple we were with discovered that they actually didn't have full menus. We waited for those to be replaced and, after another lengthy absence, our server came back to take our appetizer order. Our appetizers arrive and look great, but aren't exactly hot. Not worth sending back, but for the amount of time we waited for them, they should have at least been hot. Since all of us are still holding menus, it was a little awkward to try to eat while still holding onto a giant menu. As they plates are being cleared our server comes back to take our entree order. It was just kind of an odd experience - she was kind of whispery and having weird side conversations with everyone while they ordered. She also didn't really want to make recommendations or give opinions on any menu items, which i thought was odd for a server at a high end restaurant. The food comes out and, same as the appetizers, everything looks great, but it's kinda cold. The portion sizes were kind of small as well. We all left still slightly hungry. Another thing that we thought was off, was there had been a lot of information about all the art work and we were told that you would be given an ipad loaded with info on all the pieces. Even though we commented about that, we were never offered the ipad or any additional information on the art. There are no bathrooms inside the restaurant itself, which isn't a huge deal, but when we did use the restrooms, there seemed to be some sort of event going on and there was a huge line of 5+ others waiting. Definitely overpriced for both the food and the service. This restaurant is clearly just relying on their space inside the St. Regis for all of their appeal and their clientele. read more

I'm not sure how this was categorized as "Bars and Burgers" because it's definitely a fine dining restaurant. Is there another Atlas in the neighborhood? That said, we went here for a birthday and I was really impressed. There are places where the food is the star, others where the room is the star, and still others where the staff are the star, but at Atlas they're all stars and they never missed a beat. On the room, don't be put off by the dark wood and think you've stepped into a 1970's steakhouse. The lighting brings up the mood beautifully and there's just enough of it to notice that there is some very serious artwork on the walls. The restaurant is owned by someone who has an art collection valued at near $2 Billion according to one of the staff, and he rotates it between Atlas and his other properties. I didn't recognize the artist on the wall closest to us, but there was a Picasso on one column in the room and a Modigliani sketch on another. You usually don't get to see this stuff without paying admission. Flowers also soften the room, making it comfortable as well as beautiful. The food was also terrific. We started with the pierogi puffs, which were a real surprise. I'm used to getting pierogis on the lower east side in manhattan, so I was expecting little dumplings--not the case. These were little puffs of truffle laced goodness mixed with roasted mushrooms and little chunks of the most tender beef I've ever had. When a menu says 'Waygu' I assume they're using some kind of generic term, since it never seems that different from a decent regular cut of beef--this was different. It melted in my mouth...literally. Then we moved on to the pork chop, cooked perfectly so it was just barely pink in the center and tender as could be. They served on grits with ramps--a great accompaniment. We also got the white striped bass, which came on a bed of vegetables. It was crispy on top and meltingly soft and fragrant in the center. Cooking fish well is harder than it looks. How to get just the right crispiness on one side without overcooking it seems to be a challenge. Atlas has the formula down pat. Finally, and it may be the best for last, the staff there are really incredible. I've had many dinners where the wait staff were tired, or harried, or having a bad day, or whatever. On a good day, they're friendly and make you feel like they appreciate that you've come to dine with them. At atlas, every single interaction we had with the staff, from the hostesses to the waiters, the sommelier, and even the people busing the table felt like they were not only happy that we'd come, but somehow overjoyed to meet us. And it wasn't that weird Disney-esque plastic I'm-so-glad-to-see-you thing, they actually stayed at the table and engaged with us enough to make a solid impression. There is something pretty magical about the staff at Atlas. We've seen it at a few other places, but not many. Whoever finds the staff (I don't think this kind of thing can be trained to just anyone) is doing a great job. Great restaurant, great people, great food--can't wait to go back! read more

Our first interaction at Atlas was being told that we couldn't bring a glass of wine from the St. Regis Bar located 10ft away into the restaurant, since they were not associated with the hotel (although literally surrounded by it). I then felt compelled to surrender my hip flask and the pint of ripple lodged in my sock garter as well. Fortunately our gracious server more than made up for our frosty reception. We started with yellow tailed hiramasa and sprout salad. For entrees Blue ridge trout and 35 day aged ribeye. We enjoyed a nice Cotes du Rhone. Dessert was bread pudding and butterscotch chocolate custard. Everything was wonderful but not amazing. The food felt soulless. In another city Atlas might be the premiere culinary experience. But this is Atlanta. We have so many ingenious, inspired, creative, hardworking chefs here. In Atlanta you simply cannot get over for very long with just location and decor (although the art collection is beautiful). Atlas will probably survive for a few years because it is located in the St. Regis (a la Paces 88). But to earn its place among the great establishments of our city, Atlas really needs to find its voice, decide what it brings different and better to our city's culinary conversation and to stop hiding behind the opulent hotel by whom it is surrounded but not associated. read more

I came here for a quick drink and was immediately impressed with the interior detailing. The walls have this incredible green lacquered enamel and the lighting makes for a classy, yet relaxing place to have a cocktail. The bartender was exceptionally pleasant and while they were not able to make the off-menu drink as requested, he did offer to go rogue and modify one of the house cocktails to bring it closer to what I was seeking. It's not a craft cocktail bar - more of just an upscale bar that focuses on a few rotating specialties. Be sure to do a walk around the restaurant and notice the art work. read more

The vegan/vegetarian menu is delicious. All the entrees and appetizers are fabulous. We haven't had one meal that we didn't like. The greens pop and the low couches are a favorite, walls are decked with priceless works, staff was personable, knowledgeable, and able to present a first hand experience of the menu. We ordered a sampling of appetizers and entrées. Among my favorites were The Truffle Potato Pierogi Dumplings, Cured Yellowtail Hiramasa, Sautéed Tilefish, and Rabbit Loin. I hosted a group dinner here for a party of 12. Any groups larger than 10 must choose from their available group dining options which feature semi-private and private dining options as well as 3 or 4-course pre-fixed menus. The menus start at $100 per person and they do not tell you what menu options you have until after you sign the contract. I found out that our menu items only added up to $75 even if our guests ordered the most expensive option on our pre-fixed menu. The difference you pay goes towards the culinary team and service? (Not sure as I didn't get a clear answer when I asked.) Despite the addtl 33% markup for group dining, which did not include gratuity, the service was mediocre at best. The entire process contacting the event manager was awful and at times took many emails/phone calls to get a response. I've hosted many group events at other fine dining restaurants in this wonderful city and never had an issue. They made me feel like a nuisance instead of a paying customer (which I'm sure they think that now since writing this review). To be fair, the dinner service was much better than the entire experience so I tipped accordingly. With that said, the food is quite good and I'd be willing to return, but I wouldn't be ecstatic to go back. I would recommend ordering the Moore Farms Butternut Squash Soup as an appetizer. One of the best restaurants I have been to in Georgia and in general. Its a fine dining atmosphere with beautiful abstract art and decor. I expect nothing less from a place inside the st Regis. The service was excellent. The food very good. Sometimes at places like this the food is so unique that there are things that don't really work but not at this place. I say this is a really good date night spot. I heard from my hotel that the owner put a lot of time and money into the art and concept in this place so if you want to feel fabulous for the night this is the place to go without feeling pretentious. read more
