As a long time Atlanta resident, if I were to make a list of Top 3 restaurants in the city, Lucian would absolutely land on it. The concept of books and meals is new to the city and having opened a few years back, Lucian solidified itself as the spot that's not just an interesting idea, but masters execution of extremely creative dishes that actually taste incredible. Not to mention, this may be one of the best designed restaurants in the city. The menu changes frequently and realigns heavily to seasonality. Not just adding a dish or two that's seasonal, but completely revamping the menu. Some classics do stay, like bison tartare, gnudi in different variations based on season and chicory salad. All of these, by the way, are phenomenal. The presentation of dishes at Lucian deserves a call out as well: it is some of the most beautiful plating in the city. When it comes to service, there is a true sense of perfection and professionalism among the staff. They are sharply dressed, extremely well trained and incredibly polite. Smallest details get noticed by them and the way they present themselves is fundamentally unique to most local establishments. They have parking instructions on their website. They offer a 2-hour validation for the retail parking garage at 3005 Peachtree, located at the SE corner of Peachtree and Pharr Road. You can access the garage from both Peachtree and Pharr Roads. There's a $25 fee + tax per person for a reservation no-show, but as long as you cancel 24 hours in advance, you'll be fine. It's best to make a reservation ahead of time. We went there for a birthday lunch. The staff are very friendly and professional. They were attentive to my friend's Mediterranean diet and suggested menu items accordingly. The decor and ambiance are well designed, with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. I also like that the place isn't drowned in loud music or people's conversations like many other restaurants. The high ceiling probably helps with the noise level as well. We had: - Oysters with shallot: This dish tasted very fresh and had great flavor. - Poached steelhead with sunchoke: The fish was very tender. It looks and tastes very similar to salmon. - Chocolate budino with pistachio (dessert): The portion was just right, and the budino was rich; it felt almost like a mousse. They have a 90-minute time frame for lunch (mentioned on their website), but no one rushed us out even though we stayed a little longer. I ordered a glass of the gruner veltliner-- it was quite crisp and refreshing and paired nicley with the olives and the ricotta gnudi. The ricotta gnudi and the pappardelle were both very good. The wagyu was cooked well and I particularly liked the mashed potatoes. I usually don't like potatoes in general, however, these had truffle oil or some sort of truffle-like flavor incorporated into them. Delicious. The fish was also seared quite perfectly. The desserts were good, but nothing to write home about. I liked the addition of flaky sea salt on the chocolate bundino. I wish the panna cotta looked prettier... the cherries seemed to be carelessly thrown on. The ambiance is beautiful. I am in love with the books-- very aesthetically pleasing, I also love the pop of color they add! My dad has been in the restaurant business for 50+ years and had some critiques about the service... the manager was quite rude and we did not have the best experience. Upon arriving, my party of 2 was seated immediately and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We started off the evening with a glass of bubbly, the oysters and bison tartare. I loved that the bison was served with potato chips and the Lelarge-Pugeot brut champagne was the perfect partner!! For our second course, we shared the Ricotta gnudi with oxtail ragu and the lobster cavatelli. I found the ricotta oxtail to be the best dish of the night and one that I will dream of from time to time. The oxtail was flavorful, tender and paired perfectly with the ricotta. The lobster pasta was good, but I found the pasta a little chewy for my taste. We paired both dishes with the Barta Pinot Noir from Patagonia. The light bodied but earthiness of the wine worked well with the oxtail. Finally, we ended the night sharing the Toffee pudding and the chocolate budino with pistachios. Hands down the toffee pudding is worth every.single.calorie. The chocolate mousse was good but couldn't compete with the toffee. My good friend and I met after work here to catch up and the one word I'd use to describe this place is upscale. Very intimate and fancy atmosphere, I'm so happy I packed a cute change of clothes to wear after work. The service here is upper echelon and they make sure to answer all of your questions and keep your glass full, if you so choose. The bookcase/shelf on the wall is perfect decor for their intimate setting and gives you something to do if you're waiting for the rest of your party to arrive. Additionally, they also have an EXTENSIVE plethora of wine and spirits to choose from which was lovely. The Spanish white wine (Do Ferreiro - Albarino Rias Baixas) was delicious and I highly recommend. I also tried the "bikini" sandwich which was also very tasty and their fries are to die for! Had to try "the best omelette" in Atlanta. Coming in this feels like a snooty concept. In a brand new building, with 20 foot ceilings of books. We came for lunch on a Friday and had no problem getting a seat. Service was prompt and helpful on guiding through the menu. The omelette was fantastic, just not sure what the butter was for. I was surprised with how well caviar pairs with an omelette. The crispy salty pops to go with the gooey cheese and perfectly cooked scrambled egg was a dynamite. Never thought the combo would work so stinking well. We also got the paté and I was licking it off the bowl. The jam on top was so good. The portion sizes are a bit small, but perfect for lunch. Enough to satisfy that hunger. I don't have a problem paying $29 dollars for the omelette, bc of the quality of the caviar. Would I drive 25 min again to buckhead to get again, probably not. If there's one word that describes this place perfectly, it's classy. The interior is modern and chic, with a gorgeous bar up against one wall of windows and the opposite wall full of cookbooks and other foodie books. All of the books are available for purchase, and there's also a table up front with Cherry Bombe and some other magazines/small books for purchase. We bought a book on Italian wines, and it came with a paper wrap sealed with a sticker, which was a nice touch. The food menu is streamlined, but every thing on it is done so well. We started with an order of the oysters with strawberry, basil, and lime mignonette as well as an order of the fries with tarragon mayo. The fries were piping hot and crispy- it was clear they had just come out of the fryer- and the tarragon mayo was a nice unusual twist. One of our mains was the French omelette, which was perfectly cooked and came topped with caviar with some herbed crème fraîche on the side. The other was the salmon, which came over a pea purée with carrot ribbons- it was the perfect spring dish. We ended with the toffee pudding, which was pretty small, but we enjoyed it. The food was pretty pricey, but felt worth it because everything was so well-made. The wine list is extensive, including selections by the glass- there was a nice range of options available, including different varietals/countries at different price points. Our server was knowledgeable and able to recommend pairings that went well with our food. Every member of the staff was so friendly and attentive, which we really appreciated. We had a good meal at Lucian, over a year after deciding we had to try it out. The concept of small bites in a bookshop with great wine and champagne was what had me hooked on making a reservation. We finally made it on a Friday before New Year's Eve. We found the underground parking easily, and once inside we had a short wait to "take a look at the books while we get your table ready". I love the selection of beautiful coffee table books on art, cooking, wines and more. You can either purchase by adding to your food check, or cashing out at the table then taking your books to the front to pay. On the food: we knew we wanted to try the omelet after reading a NYT review. It didn't disappoint; the roe gives a sharp pop of contrast to the creamy egg and crème fraiche. We also enjoyed the oysters; the fresh pear in the mignonette was amazing. The salads were amazing - well-balanced flavor combinations and textures. I'd recommend skipping the entrees, and enjoying instead a range of the small and medium dishes to share. On the service: our party had mixed reviews here. Half thought the server was super bored and didn't want to be there; the other half thought she was snooty and a bit over-the-top / arrogant. Whatever it was, everyone else we came into contact with was delightful, friendly and warm. I always like restaurants bringing new cutlery for each set of dishes served, but found it strange and clumsy that they served the liver pate with only teaspoons (one to serve, and one each to... spread? Spoon onto the toast?). I'd have asked for a knife, but our server had temporarily disappeared, so we made do with the trio of teaspoons. Checking out, we settled up at the table for the meal and then purchased 2 books at the host stand. I loved the simple paper wrap around the books - a really lovely touch, and gift wrap was an option in case of buying for someone else. We got our parking ticket validated, but needn't have bothered; they validate for 2 hours (the time you're allowed to occupy a table), but since we were a little over that with our book purchase, we still had to pay the minimum $3 for parking. On the way home, I had a notification from my bank that the restaurant had attempted to make another charge of over $600 to my credit card (after the $260+ meal charge and the ~$50 book purchase had gone through). It may have been a mistake, but it leaves a bad taste - they shouldn't be able to make a transaction without the card present. Luckily my bank declined it, or it was reversed by the restaurant - but either way, it was disappointing to feel they may not be fastidious in managing customer payments. 3/5 after this snafu, otherwise it would have been a 4/5 for me. read more

It was the combination of an elegant but comfortable interior, warm hospitality and beautifully plated dishes. While waiting for my friend, I had the chance to enjoy a glass of wine and appreciate the serene surroundings and peer with envy at their gorgeous library of books. The restaurant is small, and the "cafe" side only has two tables. We got there early so I was able to grab one of the cafe tables. But I would definitely recommend making a reservation. As for dinner, I'll admit that I never thought I would order an omelette- but as other Yelpers had raved about it - I felt I should try it. It was indeed divine. My friend enjoyed her risotto. We also ordered fries. They are technically not on the dinner menu but you can ask for them. We shared a delicious toffee pudding in a spiced rum sauce for dessert. The Bartender did an excellent job to directing us to best meal options based on a couple of food restrictions, was engaging and attentive to all 8 of his bar guests. Great ambiance and delicious food. I love the tapas style menu and everything we had was amazing. The wine list is great. Prefer sitting at bar and people watching.. Love the smaller space it is in for a more intimate dining experience. Self parking free under the restaurant for 2 hours. read more
