I recently dined at Atlas for the first time and was very impressed. I went for it's famous art collection, but will return for it's fabulous food. I ordered the tomato soup and the scallops. Both were beautifully presented and delicious. I also really enjoyed the amuse bouches presented before the meal and the tiny deserts brought afterwards. If you are looking for a special night out, I would suggest you give Atlas a try. read more

It's a good restaurant with a high end menu and atmosphere to match, and prices too. It's in the St. Regis Hotel. I expected a lot and it was good but not great. A lot of hype and the service is amazing but the food was good, not amazing. If I'm dropping $100-200 percent n a meal I expect it to be memorable. This was just good. I had a great meal at Atlas after stumbling into it late on a Tuesday night. Nestled into the St. Regis, it is a tastefully decorated restaurant with plentiful outdoor seating. Bread service was sour dough, pretzel buns and a cheese biscuit with butter from Banner farms butter, some of best bread and butter I've had short of restaurants like del post and per se in New York. For appetizers we split the soft shell crab and the truffled potato pierogi dumplings. Both were great though the pierogi definitely stood out more. The slow braised wagyu was fork tender and the mushrooms were some of the best I've had in a while. For my main I had the atlas steak with the snake river farms. Cooked to a perfect medium rare it was a steak every bit the equal to any of the top name steak houses I've been to. If you enjoy your beef I would definitely get this, I closed with the banana revolution that came with banana caramel ice cream, banana ginger cream, chocolate and a myriad of other things I didn't quite get to identify as I powered my way through this dessert. The ginger flavors comes across pretty strongly so if you do not like it this would not be a good dessert. For me it was a very interesting combination of flavors and tastes and textures. Service was also great, they immediately replaced my colleagues burger when we pointed out it was overcooked. They also provided a selection of chocolates to close out the evening. Underwhelming and overpriced. We went to dinner here with 2 other couples on Saturday night and had a pretty bland & uninspired meal, complete with terribly-paced service, and a ridiculous check at the end. I'm more than willing to pay for a nice meal, but that's not what we got here, so I felt robbed when we left the restaurant having paid such an exorbitant price for so little quality. I should have known something was up when we were seated and 2 of our menus were missing pages & out of order...it's all about the DETAILS! Then it took an unusually long time for the server to arrive, which was especially annoying to the couple who arrived last and hadn't had a chance to order drinks at the bar; nor did we have any water at the table. Each course was more boring and flavorless than the last. The presentation of most plates was pretty (with the exception of my gray & sad looking morel mushroom soup) but the flavor just wasn't there. Hell, half the dishes were missing salt! Our apps arrived long before our server ever took our entree order, which meant we were negotiating with menus while we attempted to eat our apps. If it wasn't for the good company & conversation, I'd say this was a completely wasted Saturday night. Other notes: Our server was just....ODD. She was very nice but a little strange and kind of creepy. She kept sneaking up behind us, whispering in our ears, and was definitely in our personal space more than was necessary. It actually became a joke at our table who she would pop up on next. The ladies restrooms in both the hotel lobby and the floor near Atlas were a mess. They were missing TP, dirty and had hand towels overflowing all of the wastebaskets. I would definitely expect more from the St. Regis (again, DETAILS!) The bar and the artwork are the two redeeming qualities of this place. It may be worth checking out for a drink, but that would be it. Eater 38 was definitely wrong about this one. Overall 2 stars but for how expensive this place is, it hardly deserves 1. Appetizers were above average but roughly $20 each plate for 3 or 4 bites of unexceptional food just isn't worth it. The scallops and trout were solid but unspectacular but the $60 ribeye was without exaggeration, the worst piece of meat I've ever eaten. We ordered it medium and it came out slightly rare which ended up being okay but the flavor was absolutely terrible. Under-seasoned and it tasted like blood. Absolutely disgusting. The service was actually pretty good for the most part until dessert which took over 20 minutes to come out, longer than our entrees. We were celebrating a birthday as well and they charged us for the birthday dessert. You would think restaurants would know better than that by now. The patio area was very nice by any measure and the weather was really the only thing keeping us from complaining too much. For the price, I can't imagine why anybody would eat here. Even if everything was half the price, I still couldn't give this place more than 3 stars. There are so many better restaurants in the area. read more

UPDATE: recently saw that Atlas received four stars from AJC's Jennifer Zyman, yet her review said the food was "fine," add she felt, as I did, that there was lack of cohesion and purpose in the dishes...but everything else constitutes four stars...? I know the food isn't everything when it comes to a restaurant review but ffs, it should count for 80%... If creative loafing deems "fine" food worthy of dour stars, then that explains why restaurants in Atlanta don't even try... Dined here a few nights ago, and it was pleasant. First off, I understand the chef de cuisine is a TFL veteran, but I don't think they should have pretty much jacked their groove with the very familiar door at the entrance, albeit it was brown. Other tha. That, the atnosphere near the front is very chill with the fireplace and red leather seats. We pretty much ordered all the apps since none of the entrees stood out besides the rabbit. The salmon dish with trout roe and the mascarpone was very reminiscent of Keller's signature salmon cornettes, but nowhere as delicious, and extremely heavy. The oyster with cucumber tea and grapefruit could have been great, but was actually washed out in flavor, but the quality of the oy ster was great- just wish there was less cucumber (for once) and more ocean. The hiramasa was excellent: well cured, great flavors, though slightly too sweet, great dish in adjustted proportions. The scallops were another great dish, cooked perfectly with bright flavors, and nothing overpowering the scallops. The potato leek chowder was cooked well, but I really only enjoyed the leek in it. I wish I had chosen something other than the rabbit as a main since although the dish seemed rustic, theflavors just didnt do much. The kumquat and Riesling braised cabbage were great with the loin, but everything else seemed more like a filler. This place has great potential, so ill be back around spring looking for some vibrant dishes. Oh, and the honey wheat bread is one of the best baked breads I've ever had. The flavor itself was meh, but the bread was cooked ridiculously perfect, with a flaku crispy crust and cloud like inside- bravo. The butter is also served at a great temperature. Forgot to add, I got a mixed drink, and there was a serious lack of alcohol. It tasted like drinking inly the ginger beer in it. read more

Last night my boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday at Atlas and it was literally the best service I've ever had! Our waiter was so kind and went over the menu with us in detail. Their were two other servers who talked to us about the variety of breads that were complimentary and they both continued to check on us throughout the evening. I felt like I had multiple people catering to both of our needs. The man who brought out our meals gave us details on our entre and was just so nice! Everyone there was so nice like genuinely nice and it seemed like they truly enjoyed working at Atlas. Our waiter brought out my birthday dessert which was an amazing red velvet cake. Also the drinks are worth the price! My boyfriend had an old fashion which he was super impressed by the taste and I can't remember my drink, but it was amazing and had vanilla in it! We also received complimentary chocolate treats from our waiter and they were so good which is crazy for me because I'm not a fan of chocolate! Our experience was amazing and we will definitely go back! Please go to Atlas if you're looking for a restaurant that has an amazing ambiance and excellent service plus great food! read more

Dinner club outing brought me to Atlas. About 6 of us dined in on a Saturday evening. Valet parking is available - shared with Chops. Atlas will give you validation for this. Just make sure to tip. You can also self park in nearby parking decks but this is not validated. We were seated in a very nice booth. However, it was a bit tough to get in and out of. The meal started off with complimentary bread. You got your choice of three options- honey wheat, pretzel, and something else. I chose honey wheat. Don't worry, you can always flag down the bread basket server if you want more. The butter was super cute. See my photo. Never seen anything like it. Either the bread or butter was a bit too salty. Not sure which since I had butter on each piece. Atlas is definitely on the higher end of what I typically pay when going out for dinner. $29 for a burger? Wow. I opted for the Black Angus Fillet Steak and Potatoes entree - Horseradish and Shallot Crust, Dry Age Potato Confit, Spring Onion, Russet Potato Puree, Pommes Dauphine, Herb Roasted Mushrooms. No appetizer, but a friend let me taste hers. She ordered the TRUFFLE POTATO PIEROGI DUMPLINGS: Slow-Braised Wagyu, Caramelized Onion Puree, Crisped Parmesan, Herb-Roasted Mushrooms. The dumplings' appearance was a surprise. Kind of deconstructed, I guess you could say. But very yummy! The steak was about 8 oz. so good portion for the price. Cooked perfectly and tasty. I loved the various takes on the potato. The small baked potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer though. A friend order the BERRIES AND CREAM (Raspberry Tart, Mascarpone Cream, Basil Cremeux) to share. This was also very good. All the dishes had lovely presentation. Service was impeccable here. And we noted that all the servers were gorgeous. Must play a role in their hiring practices. That's just an aside. No bearing on my rating. Very surprised by some of the low ratings thought. I kept remarking throughout the night how wonderful the meal and experience was. NOTE: You can get an iPAD that will tell you about all the lovely art that they have. However, since they had just switched out the art, the new info wasn't loaded yet. So we didn't get to experience that. Oh well. Next time, hopefully. read more

Lots of room to grow! After a 40 minute wait on our reservation we were told the many open tables were for people who reserved that specific table. Not impressed with the front of house hostess staff especially since my wife made this reservation 6 weeks prior for my birthday. Food was very flavorful but both our entrees were served luke warm with the mornay sauce congealed on the side of the rib eye. The sun chokes served with the trout were tough and chewy. We had to ask for bread as we sat waiting for our appetizers. We stacked our own appetizer plates when they sat there empty for what felt like an eternity. Our wine glasses sat empty and at one point my wife stood to pour from our decanter, into our meager glasses, only to finally be rescued by the bread guy. Kind of expensive for what we got. Decided to skip dessert and go through the Starbucks drive through. We'll stick to Aria for their bountiful, taste worthy menu. read more

My review is for the fabulous Wednesday night experience I had on the patio at Atlas. Let me say I love trying all kinds of restaurants!! I will most likely never eat a meal at Atlas because it is just too pricey for me to enjoy. I cannot spend that kind of money on food!! However.. What a gorgeous, sexy place! I loved the decor & the feel . Back in the day hubs & I enjoyed special evenings at Pano's & Paul's & I felt nostalgic walking into Atlas! I was with a group of friends & we were meeting on the patio for drinks & live music! The patio is perhaps the prettiest in Atlanta! The band..phenomenal!! I remember the lead singer's last name... Lushington... That's all I remember! Must have had one too many glasses of the $5 champagne special!! So I will return for drink specials on the patio..but that's it! And that's enough! read more

meh. It was alright but definitely not worth the massive bill. Staplehouse, Bacchanalia, Boccalupo, yes, I'd pay for those tremendous meals but Atlas is a typical stuffy Buckhead restaurant. Mushroom soup is delicious. Crispy oysters were out of this world. Otherwise, the lamb rack consisted of 2 lamb lollipops for $40. Veal with sweetbreads was good. The agnolotti was alright but lukewarm. We skipped dessert, and one of my dining partners said that if it wasn't for the bread service, she would have left hungry, in spite of doling out $250 for 2 dinners. I went last night with a resident of the St. Regis. We sat at a window seat. It was about 7:30pm-8pm Tuesday 29 June. It was incredible. Someone caught on that we don't eat wheat and are pretty much gluten free. They brought out housemade gluten free bread and if they sold it by the pound I'd buy it on the spot and keep my pantry stocked with it. Never had gluten free bread that tasted THAT good. I do not normally eat meat but my friend had the steak and I had the Atlas burger (both came with vegetables, mine came with french fries). We also ordered a side of mushrooms for the table. Everything was perfect. The meal was full of flavour. I can't complain at all. We didn't have dessert but the fantastic waitress offered us chocolates at the end of our meal. I also had a cocktail, the Italian Syndicate. Looking forward to returning. Pros: Flavourful Meal, great service (loved my waitress and I'm sad I didn't get her name). Staff isn't pushy, pretentious or loud. Cons: They don't have a side market where you can buy some of your favs and take them home for the week/shop. read more

My husband and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. The ambiance was great. But there was flies around our table. We mentioned this to our waitress and she didn't seemed to be bothered the first time but did say she will tell manager. The flies were sitting on our food and drinks. Mentioned it to her again. She said she will get the manager. But no manager came to acknowledge it nor did she move us to a different table. We spent the entire time trying to keep the flies off our food. Top notch dining in Atlanta. Tasteful decor that is elegant but not too stuffy combined with impeccable service. The Cobia was perfectly seared on an artful plate. The rabbit lied amidst a deep and rich sauce. The filet mignon was a rave at the table even if it did need a little bit more seasoning. The three tastings of sorbet was artwork as well, so colorful and thought through. But the pièce de résistance was the side of herbed mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious and nobody should leave this restaurant without trying it. read more

It's always abuzz with couples and groups, celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, etc... Once seated at our table, we were greeted by a young man who took our drink orders & reviewed the menu. We selected the lightly cured yellowtail hiramasa ($20) & the fettuccine Alfredo with UGA caviar ($26) as our appetizers. The yellowtail had a wonderful flavor profile but the portion was so small we really didn't get to savor it & enjoy it. Delicious but sadly too scant! The fettuccine, on the other hand, was slightly more substantial but flavorless - and the caviar didn't add anything exceptional to the dish. What I enjoyed most was my entree, the pan roasted black bass ($37)! It was sensational! Cooked perfectly, it was crisp on the outside & tender on the inside. It had a great salty, savory taste to it balanced by sunchokes & vinaigrette. And the desserts were also impressive! You can't go wrong with the manjari chocolate mousse ($10)!! 3.5 stars. I came here recently for dinner and ate at the lounge. I read about this place from the Eater 38 list for Atlanta, so decided it was worth trying. I ordered the 3-course tasting menu and had the roasted sunchoke and leek soup, pan seared wreckfish, and roasted cauliflower risotto. While the soup was a bit under-seasoned, I felt the risotto was a bit too salty. However, the wreckfish was quite tasty and the perfect texture. The server convinced me to order dessert, so I got the huckleberry donuts and substituted toasted almond ice cream. While the rest of the food was just okay IMO, dessert was BY FAR the best thing I ordered here -- the donuts were the perfect size and just the right amount of sweet. I'm not sure I quite understand the hype around this place, but perhaps I just didn't order the right items. -L. read more

This place is dining on the next level. 4 stars is complete bullshit in my opinion. It should be 6. The chef understands food like only the greats do. The quality of each dish is unmatched in this town. If you come here to eat you have to understand how this menu should be looked at. If you think you're going to come here and order and app to share and entree and desert you're going to leave hungry. You should order many courses. The wait staff will course it out perfectly. Atlas will provide a dining experience if you want it. Just ask your server what to order and how much of it and they will take care of it. You're going to spend 2-3 hundred for two but if you know anything at all about great ingredients and what it takes to make it taste taste good then you'll know that the prices are a bargain. read more

Enjoyed a belated anniversary celebration here. The ambience is excellent. Very elegant with the numerous Picasso and Monett on the wall. Service was great, food was fabulous. The restaurant had complimentary champagne for us. Do indulge in the 3 speciality breads and the special butter that comes with it, so worth the extra "next day workout." Our meals were so good we did not have time to take pictures as we could not wait to dive in We had the oysters, the peach salad, the trout and the codia, try them all delicious. They have music on Friday only on their lovely lanai, which is also available for dining. Everything about this place says 5 stars. Pricey, but worth the experience. read more

The food could be amazing, but their service is horrendous. I booked for my annual team dinner. I told them 9'and they said if we go up to 10 to give them a "quick call" and we will just need to agree to a minimum. Fast forward and I want to bring a friend (I was recently divorced and just don't want to be odd man out this year). They are not working with me at all...want a set a menu (so tacky). I'm horrified as I have done these events a million times and have never dealt with something like this. They keep mentioning corporate? And the hostesses are sweet as can be but don't know about the process and could not help me at all. I have never dealt with this with a 5 star restaurant and hate that I'm having to this year. I'm shocked st Regis operates likes this or allows a restaurant like this in their building. Just despicable. They deliver nothing the way they say that they will. No "House-made pickles," "assorted jellies," or "mustards" with their $40 Charcuterie plate. 1/2 full drinks for $17.
