This is the 3rd time we worked with Vanildo over many years. Not only it's always pleasant working with him and his team, but it's also always a great value with Vanildo, too. We actually have somewhat of a bigger project for him. He is responsible for the painting and wall/ceiling repair in a bigger kitchen project. Basically, others come to tear down walls and poke wholes in my popcorn ceilings and he has to repair and patch all that and paint over 3 ceilings, 3 walls in the living/dining area (color matching the existing walls) and paint a whole kitchen. The job took two days to repair and prep and then paint. They tried their best to cover up all my furniture and belongings, and the floor to prevent paint and plaster falling on them. Even if there were little bits sprayed or splashed outside, as long as you see them, he's always willing to clean up humbly. He told us he can't see everything, so if we see something just let him know, he'll correct it. We love his humble attitude, and that's partly what makes him so easy to work with. Even after 2 days, when we saw something not working the way we expected, I took a picture, sent it to him, he responded right away and scheduled ASAP to come and fix the problem. I hired him to hang blueboard and then plaster and paint the walls as we finished our basement conversion. He and his crew did excellent work, price was very fair and he was easy to schedule and arrived and worked exactly as he stated/planned with us. Vanildo lies, we requested Benjamin Moore paint, he bought Home Depot paint and I didn't see the cans until after the job was done. I had two electrical cords on the wall and asked him to remove them. We asked him if he could tell if this was a live wire. We remodeled the bathroom on the first floor that shared this wall and found the electrical cord & plug, live wire shoved into the wall and not removed. Also, was very messy and I had to clean up daily or tell him to clean up daily and not leave the job messy from day to day. He is not trustworthy, expensive, and messy. read more

I had Vanildo come into my condominium and blue board and plaster my ceilings which were popcorn. There are very few craftsman left that can do this type of freehand plastering at the level he does. He carefully covered floors and walls and cleaned up meticulously. The ceilings were completed and looked like glass, smooth with no marks, swirls, or blemishes. He primed and painted to finish off the job. Very reasonably priced, a true craftsman that has pride in his work. I would not hesitate to have him in again. read more

We had Vanildo do a soundproofing project for our condo. We wanted to add green glue and another layer of drywall to a couple of walls. This involved taking off the baseboards, adding the greenglue and drywall, plastering, and then finish by re-painting the walls. Vanildo's price was very reasonable. We're not sure whether the soundproofing worked, but he and his team did a good job. The process took 2 different days. The first day is to put up the green glue and drywall and plastering. He arrived right on time, even early for that matter. The work was done and he cleaned up the room fairly well afterwards After waiting a week for the plaster to dry, he came back to paint. Since we were only doing 3 walls, he needed to match the current color. It was an exact match. Also, the ceiling could not just be touched up and he painted that as well. Overall, the job was done very well. The only complaint I have would be that some of the drywall screws can be seen beneath the plaster and paint. Would definitely hire him again if I need other house work done. read more

I hired Atmosphere to repair a section of an interior wall that needed to be opened up for some plumbing repairs. I've repaired small sections of drywall in the past, however this area was fairly large needed to use blue-board and plaster to match the existing work. Vanildo was extremely professional and the turnaround time on the project was very quick. The job was executed flawlessly, and the plaster work is seamless. You would never be able to tell the wall had ever been damaged. I would hire again without hesitation, and can confidently recommend his services to anyone needing this type of work done. Excellent all around. Vanildo walled and plastered two new rooms in our house. He was professional, prompt, courteous, and neat. Vanildo was a great communicator and went above and beyond. Beautiful, finished walls. A few months later we asked Vanildo back to paint our newly renovated kitchen. Because the installer had another job just after, we could not paint mid renovation, but had to wait until the end. Thus Vanildo was painting after the cabinets and marble were installed. He did a fabulous job not only respecting the physical space, but also accommodating our changing schedule with grace. Vanildo is not reliable. I called him with an urgent project on Friday that needed to be completed before Thursday the next week. Not only would he not give me a ballpark estimate of the work I described over the phone, but he said he would come by 6pm the next evening to give an exact estimate, and then complete the work that Tuesday. Since I had to work Saturday night, my husband cancelled his plans to be home for him. My husband texted me at 7pm that he never showed up, and when I texted Vanildo to check in, he said he FORGOT about the appointment! What company owner forgets an appointment they made less than 24 hours previously?! Since we were desperate due to time constraints, we agreed to let him come the following day (Sunday morning). He came and gave us his exact price, but then said he wasn't sure if he could come either Tuesday or Wednesday (after having already said previously that he could come Tuesday), but that when he did, it would be approximately 7a-5/6p. So when he left, I texted him asking when would we know which day, so that we know which day to be ready for his arrival at 7a? After no response for almost 12hr, I texted again expressing the importance AGAIN of our time constraints. He texted back "I'm not sure just go ahead if you like hiring someone else thanks". So now after wasting all this time on him, we're scrambling. This guy is not professional and very unreliable. Definitely don't waste your time. read more

I was really impressed with his constant communication regarding the progress. Everyday he showed up he texted me after they left and told me when he was coming back and how much they got done that day. I hired him to skimcoat/plaster several walls in my house in addition he painted 7 rooms plus stair ralings, baseboards, trims, etc. I had new drywall installed in my house by another contractor (Not Atmosphere) and the guy did a terrible job. There were huge gaps in the placement of the new drywall. When I brought in Vanildo for an estimate he said he could fix it and I was a bit nervous about how much he could really do to make it better. Well the finish product was amazing! The walls look like one solid piece of drywall. You couldn't tell at all where one piece of drywall began and the other ended. I just moved into my very first condo and wanted to fix up the plaster, which had all the bumps and dents you'd expect to find in a 90-year old building. Initially I figured that I could afford the plaster work but would do the painting myself, but Vanildo's estimate for both plastering and painting fell within my budget. I'm glad I had him do both, because his painting job was fantastic. The bumpy walls are now flat, smooth and expertly painted. I also requested that the doors & their trim painted the same color as the walls in one room so they'd blend in (it's a small room with a door or window on each wall, which made it look overly busy) and he knew what I wanted right away and suggested a semi-gloss finish on the doors and an eggshell on the walls; something I wouldn't have thought of had I done it myself. It looks great! I had no problem leaving my housekey for Vanildo while I went off to work; he's a great guy and I highly recommend Atmosphere. Save yourself the headache and don't even bother calling Atmosphere Painting and Plastering--they will just waste your time. I reached out to get a quote on a plastering job in a bathroom we are remodeling. We scheduled an appointment for 8am the next day for him to come by and take a look. We arrived before 8am, to learn from our tile guy that he had been there already and left--without staying to talk to us about what we wanted done. He then sent a ridiculous quote for work we weren't looking for. We called him again and asked for him to come back so we could talk to him about what we wanted done. He asked us to meet him at 7:30 the next morning (a Saturday, mind you, and we had to drag our young child out of bed to come with us for this). We drove up to the house at 7:30 ON THE DOT, to find him driving away. He texted us to tell us that he "couldn't wait" for us, at the time HE ASKED US TO BE THERE. I've never had someone waste my time like this--it was extremely unprofessional and I will never make the mistake of calling them again. read more
