Have been coming to Atrevete for a while now and always enjoy the wide selection of delicious pastries they have available and their consistently good coffee drinks. The Croque Madame croissant and iced Mexican latte I had today was just the perfect conbination of savory and sweet. Their cold case of desserts is also always very tempting so be sure to go hungry. Staff is friendly and the wait time is usually not long even when there's a line. The interior is cozy for enjoying your order and they also have nice outdoor seating or you can always take it to go and head over to the park or river right by the shop to enjoy your sweets in the sunshine. read more

I have heard so many good things about Atrevete from family and friends that I knew I've always wanted to stop by and try it out for myself. I actually ended up going last weekend to get a pastry, the scones and the pain au chocolates are phenomenal. Today I went back to get more pastries and try out their coffee that everyone raves about! I got more scones, pain au chocolat's, and some cookies. For coffee, I opted for a hot Mexican latte with oat milk. Oh my LORD is this so good and unique. I literally cannot stop thinking about this drink and when I'll be stopping there next. Fresh made pastries... need I say more? It's not a huge variety like you'd see at a larger bakery but you can get wonderful coffee to go with your pastry. I am partial to the almond croissant and their quiche, stop by check their flavors of the day. The french macarons are also delish, and love to pick those up as a gift for friends. My friend and I found this place today and wow! What a great discovery! We loved our food (Mexican hot chocolate and scones -- pumpkin chocolate chip for me, almond cranberry white chocolate for her), and the ambiance is also nice, with small tables or a big L-shaped plum colored couch under the front window. Ever since moving from NYC, I've been on the hunt for the perfect croissant - you know...the one that when you bite into it, leaves all this flaky mess all over and you can distinctly taste the butter in the pastry and see the lamination. Croissants are supposed to be buttery and flaky and really...messy...not what is pretty much bread shaped like a croissant that you get in a lot of places. This place it it! They are only open Friday-Sunday because they make everything fresh and it shows! Every single thing we've had is absolutely delicious and made to perfection. This is one of the only places where we will get croissants and we go almost every weekend for one. My favorite is their pistachio raspberry croissant with just the right amount of nuttiness and sweetness from the raspberries. My daughter swears by their almond croissant. They also have macarons and other pastries and everything we've tried has been delicious. They also serve coffee. It's the perfect place to grab a drink and a pastry and spend a leisurely morning on their sofa. read more

Lovely place to visit after shopping around town at the Chicago Premium Outlet nearby (only ~15 mins away)! Perfect place to grab a hot cup of coffee/tea/hot chocolate after a chilly day outside. They have amazing macaroons (out of this world! Seriously so much better than any place I have had in the city! It's nice that there are so many flavors to choose from! I think they switch it up weekly so everything is fresh! Personal favorites were the birthday cake and the caramel!). My girlfriend and I have became regulars at Atrevete. After trying the ricotta croissant flatbread, we were instantly hooked. The coffee selection is satisfying, but the real star of the show is the pastry section. My girlfriend would drive 3 hours for their cookies alone. We have tried multiple croissant variations & they are all delicious and flaky. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful as well. The only downside to this place is that you need to arrive early in order to guarantee a full pastry selection & they are only open on weekends. I stopped in for the first time today and was beyond surprised. The space it's self is well decorated and very charming. The staff and customers were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Now the coffee...I ordered the vanilla bean latte and a Chia Latte and both were hands down amazing! The best latte I have had to date honestly. We ordered an assortment of pastries and they are all fresh and wonderfully delicious. I will become a regular here. Just checked out this new cafe/bakery. Love love!! I'm not a big fan of quiche, but wanted something savory for a late breakfast. I am now a fan of quiche - at least theirs. I got it to go and tried a bite before driving off. Well, the flavors were so good (not too egg-y) that this little piggy sat there and polished it off. Of course I also got some sweets. Chocolate chip cookies are what I generally use to measure a bakery's worthiness. Most have this unappealing store-bought taste. Altrevete passed my test with flying colors. After so many days passing on my way to work, I finally stopped in to Atrevete Confections. What a gem! The location of this bakery keeps it from getting the foot traffic it deserves but don't let that stop you from coming in. My friend and I ordered and decided to share our treats. She had an iced caramel coffee and a pistachio raspberry croissant. The croissant was delicious, buttery and perfectly flaky. I had a hot coffee and a lemon blueberry scone. The coffee was delicious and I can be a stickler with my coffee. The lemon scone was a great balance of sweet and tart. I ordered some French macarons to go and was very pleased with the flavors. I got the Mama Mia crepe and it was delicious! Definitely going back to try the other crepes. I also got the dirty chai latte with almond milk, unfortunately I was only able to take a few sips and I could not finish it. It had an odd taste, like a mix of bitter and sour. Very bad experience on my first visit, the place was dirty, dirty tables still had Christmas decorations, very rude employees, they do not greet the customer when they enter the business, the owners were present the day of my visit and never greeted or asked if we needed something or everything was fine. The coffee served to us was cold, when we let them know that the coffee was cold and suggested to microwave it, they calmly microwaved it when the most appropriate would be to make fresh coffee and serve it as we were buying their cakes which They were too expensive for the poor quality. We will never return again and I am quite sure that the few comments they have and recommend them are from families and friends, I do not understand how a place that is so bad in every aspect is still open to the consumer. read more
