Went here on a weekday for lunch. Be aware there are no entrees that are vegetarian or vegan. I had a couple of sides instead. The macaroni and cheese used velveeta cheese so it wasn't that good. The baked potato wasn't great either. One person had the American burger and said it was ok, but had an odd taste she had to get used to. The guys liked their food at least and helped finish off my food. Thursdays their burgers are on a discounted price so it's a better value then. Interior is pretty interesting at least and the staff is friendly.

Had a chance to enjoy a meal. We were the first customers and they still made it happen. It had a good vibe. The food was spot on and reasonable priced. The portions are huge and ridiculous flavor.

My wife and I want to try somewhere different today so we took off towards Marion. I used Yelp to search for steak houses in Marion and Attaboys was near the top of the list. When we walked in, the young man at the hostess stand, seem to have a little trepidation, but eventually took us to a table. The dining room and bar area looked very well kept and the restrooms were clean! After waiting what seemed like a significant amount of time, we were greeted by our waitress. She asked what we would like to drink. My wife asked for an iced tea, and I asked what beers they had looking while looking for a list. She informed me there was no list and started to rattle off a few beers and then told me I could just get up and walk to the bar to take a look. When the waitress came back with my wife's iced tea, we ordered fried pickles and I asked for a Samuel Adams. The waitress walked by us and I remarked I'll have a glass with that beer, please and she looked at me and asked what beer? I asked for Samuel Adams again. She stopped by and we gave her our order, hey smothered pork chop for my wife and the chicken seafood gumbo for me. She stopped by again and asked us about our order for clarity. Third time was a charm when she stopped by yet again clarifying our order. At that point, she told us that it might be a few minutes as everything was made fresh, and we acknowledge that. Our food came out fresh from the kitchen. Pork chop was huge and tasty. My seafood and chicken gumbo was very good. The menu noted the gumbo came with crab legs. Actually it was the crab leg tips at the very end of the leg, not enough to get excited about due to the effort. I must say I also enjoyed the collard greens that came with my dish. I sampled my wife's pork chop, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. The green beans seemed to have come from a can, but did have a reasonable flavor to them. Macaroni and cheese was fairly pedestrian. Believe we might try them one more time to ensure this was not a one off.

Every time I have come here it had been awesome. Kind staff, amazing food, generous portions for a reasonable price. I wonder why this place isn't busier. It is amazing in here and seriously underrated

It is Sunday mid afternoon, and I am in Marion. After a busy day of running around in a town I am not in very often, why not check out something new. Attaboys was the place of choice. Service - it was slow on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was very attentive (awesome service) Food - I was suorised that it was very good. Now this is not fair but I ordered something quirky - Philly Cheesesteak Baked Potato and it was really good. My buddy liked his chicken. We both liked the chips and queso. All the food was prepared well and we enjoyed it please note all the dishes were under $10 (Chicken was the special and normally ~$14. I thought it was an awesome value. Ambiance - it was very quiet. They had just mopped the floor (it was not slippery but the servers were cleaning which is a great thing Overall I will be back.

Stopped here on the way to Columbus after seeing the reviews on Yelp. The fried pickles were phenomenal. Great taste. Definitely a 5. The potato soup was so good, was just missing something. Would love some chopped green onion on top. But otherwise the flavor was awesome. 4.5 The southern fried honey chicken sandwich is ... oh my Lordy... so damn good. It's big too. So unbelievably good. The breading was enough. The chicken was plentiful. The honey sauce was amazing. The side of Mac was good too. Total 5. Prices are decent and service was friendly. A must hit place in my opinion.

Half a Marion Burger and about 2/3 of the sweet potato side.

Service was a little slow for a Sunday evening, but the meal was amazing. They're Fried Chicken special was $9.99 for 2 huge legs, cornbread and two sides absolutely delicious and will make another meal. Also got the Marion Burger. Burger with pulled pork, bacon and a fried pickle. Wow. Plus a side for $16. That makes two meals, too. The sides were Mac & cheese, potatoes & gravy, and sweet potato. All were absolutely delicious. Thank you for a great meal!!!

A happy find in downtown Marion Ohio. This historic location has a refreshing take on southern menu. Food and service is excellent, would return here if in the area without hesitation. The portions here are on the large side - suitable for sharing or the best leftovers you can imagine. Location: 289 W Center St, Marion, OH 43302 Menu: several Yelp reviews have a photo of the menu - essentially southern fare meets steakhouse with a bypass at a bar with a fryer. Price: moderate to expensive; the steaks are on the higher end of the menu but entrees, sandwiches, and salads are all well under $20. Parking: plenty of free street parking available within 1 block of this location. In town for a performance competition, we found this spot for lunch thanks to fellow Yelpers (thanks, everyone!). What a great find for our party of 3. Our orders: 1) Southern-fried chicken with collard greens, loaded baked potato. 2) Southern-fried chicken with sweet potatoes, green beans 3) Gumbo with shrimp, sausage, crab and a side of collard greens. Tip: study the menu. Every sandwich and entree comes with one side; many selections come with two sides. I highly recommend the collard greens. The fried chicken is quite good. Not overly battered - there is a very light coating on the pieces (one breast, two legs were served on both orders - not sure if this varies or not; have to admit I'm always a little sad when I don't get at least one thigh) - the chicken was tender and juicy and perfectly prepared. The kitchen also made a small batch of spicy honey for our table - a really nice touch and impressive "yes" when we asked if they had any spicy honey available. For me the real star was the collard greens - the perfect smoky bite thanks to the meat cooked with the greens pairing beautifully with a bite of vinegar and finished with a light heat from the seasoning. I savored a bite of the gumbo. Really nice flavor and also cooked perfectly. I think I would either try the shrimp & grits or the gumbo next. There were several other entrees which also caught my attention and I've read rave reviews about the sandwiches and french fries. I must admit I'm intrigued by the steaks because I did not get a "steakhouse vibe" from the restaurant but they delivered really well on our orders, I'd consider a steak for an evening meal if I find myself back in Marion.

Tiny, carryout only, though there are a couple of tables to sit while you wait or maybe to eat a quick lunch. Super friendly staff. Fairly short menu; all the good stuff. I wasn't famished and didn't want to wait for chicken or fish, so I got an assortment of sides thinking that would be quicker. They fried up the okra right then, though, and had a steady stream of pickup orders coming through the door, so it still took 10-15 minutes. It was okay, though, smelling the amazing scents coming from the kitchen, talking to the staff and customers. I hadn't noticed they have ribs (just a picture, not on the menu) so I might've ordered those. Oh well. $20 I think, or they do combos with sides or fish and sides. Anyway. I got fried okra, and it was a big portion and absolutely amazing. No need for any sauces, tasty on its own. Perfectly crisp. Baked beans: my style, sauce so thick you can eat them with a fork. Slightly sweet, mostly savory, very good. Greens (collards) with turkey: outstanding. Tender but not floppy, nicely seasoned. Cornbread: soft, sweet, crumbly, topped with butter. Yum. Geechee rice: seasoned, bacon and sausage, very good. And black-eyed pea salad. I like black-eyed peas but had never had them in a salad. These were great: plump, with bits of tomato and cucumber and onion, in a vinegary dressing. Again, yum. Enough food for two meals. They gave me the side plate special, three sides and cornbread, which helped with the price. I was headed home and not thirsty so I didn't get a drink, but based on conversations with other customers I missed out on the lemonade and sweet tea. I'll be back for those and maybe a rib-fish combo. And to try the mac. Get here if you can!

I ordered something that I thought would be a safe-bet...I ordered 4 fried wings, Mac and cheese, and candied yams. I started tasting my food when I got in the car. The wings were perfectly cooked -- juicy and tender. The Mac and cheese had a decent amount of cheese, not like some places that cover their Mac and cheese with some type of Velveeta sauce. I would have eaten all of my wings in the car, but I needed some hot sauce, which surprisingly the restaurant did not have. I finished my meal when I got home. The yams were delicious...not overly sweet. I will say that the wings and Mac and cheese could have used a little more seasoning, but that was okay...there are many times where I went to a soul food restaurant and had to toss food because it was way too salty. I would rather my food to be under seasoned than over seasoned. You can always add, but you can't take it away. Everything tasted very good. The grits had strips of crisped collard greens which I thought were very unique and had a nice taste. Their chicken & shrimp gumbo I also enjoyed, but it was different than the traditional style. I have to admit that ever since moving to Columbus 6 years ago, I've felt that great soul food is hard to come by here, but hers is definitely the exception! Came on a Sunday afternoon and tried the stuffed salmon combo. You are allowed to pick how many sides you want, and the price increases accordingly. I opted for mac n cheese and collard greens, and the greens were some of the best I've ever tried at a restaurant. Also was given a huge portion well worth the price. After a really rough day on the lanes, we were hongry (yes, I spelled that correctly) and wanted soul food. The soul food place we'd visited the last time we were in Columbus closes at 6pm. It's a little after 7. So trusting my fellow Yelpers, I searched out soul food and Kays was very near our hotel. They, the Yelpers, as usual, got it right. Those of you who know us, know that we go in hard. Especially when the place has good customer service reviews. Our fellow Yelpers did not lie. The place is a kitchen staff by Kay herself and a young lady whom I'm assuming is her daughter? Nonetheless, her booming personality and jovial demeanor made us not care about what was cooking in her kitchen! We wanted it. The hand written flipboard menu was nothing less than charming. Made me feel like I was at grandma's where she put a note on the refrigerator saying this is what's for dinner. Don't spoil your appetite before then. Not an expansive daily special menu, which was cool, because when you haven't eaten since breakfast, you tend to go hog wild at the mere thought of food, and typically can't settle on anything. Pimp had pork chops, rice and gravy, and greens. I had the catfish and macaroni and cheese. When I say the silence was palpable when Pimp started chomping that chop ... He completely left the building. Him, pork chops, rice and gravy were in a different ethosphere. He did wish there was more gravy though. Greens were tender and well seasoned. My catfish was rolled with hands that had done family reunion fish frys for a long time. Well seasoned, coated and fried to perfection. The macaroni and cheese had the creamy, stringiness that you like to play with before you fly it into your mouth. It definitely had personality. But the coup de grace was indeed the service. I am completely angry, because we need to eat in this woman's kitchen at least once a month, and Columbus is 3 1/2 hours away from Detroit! The Saraga International Market is interesting in and of itself, but I'll post a different review on that. Kudos Ms. Kay. We're looking forward to them oxtails on our way home tomorrow and to many visits in the future.
