The on-site execution was handled exceptionally well by Project Manager / Foreman Ezequiel Mas and his 2 crew members. Communication: Ezequiel Mas spoke English well, was honest, transparent, and easy to work with when asked direct questions. While he was not naturally proactive in communicating updates, he responded clearly and openly when questions were asked directly and persistently. Collaboration: Ezequiel Mas was very responsive to requests throughout the project. He assisted me with a long ladder so I could access my attic and conduct a 1.5-hour visual inspection after the R-38 insulation was installed. He also willingly provided photos of attic areas I could not easily inspect. Workmanship: Ezequiel Mas and his crew delivered strong workmanship throughout the project. They customized and installed galvanized wire mesh to prevent rodent access to the attic, replaced the old vent soffit with galvanized wire mesh alternative, and inspected all crawl space vents, sealing gaps where needed. Ezequiel also replaced 2 crawl space vents at no additional charge using materials I had purchased, which I appreciated. Most importantly, both Ezequiel and his crew were able to maneuver efficiently within the attic's tight spaces. From insulation removal and rodent-proofing to air sealing, sanitation, and R-38 insulation installation, they completed the work thoroughly and professionally. Post-Installation Homeowner Visual Inspection: I personally entered the attic and inspected all accessible areas. Based on my visual inspection, I confirmed: 1. R-38 insulation was present throughout the attic, generally ranging from 8 to 12 inches in depth. In areas where the insulation depth appeared lower than 10 to 12 inches in depth, Ezequiel explained that the insulation was more densely packed. 2. The tighter attic edge areas were insulated and did not contain noticeable voids. 3. Vent soffit openings remained unobstructed by insulation. 4. Areas requiring additional sealing were promptly addressed when identified during my inspection. A Few Notes for Future Homeowners: Scope Clarity: Be crystal clear on your contracted scope. Promotional add-ons (e.g., complimentary air duct or dryer vent cleaning) may end up serving more as a sales funnel than services actually performed. It's best to keep your focus strictly on the core work you need. Scheduling & Boundaries: Stand firm on your own timeline and project sequencing (especially if coordinating alongside other major projects like a roof replacement). The company's administrative side may push for their own convenience. Come prepared with your own knowledge, be persistent with your boundaries, and don't let outside pressure or pushback dictate your house's readiness. Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys.
