I enjoy dropping in for beer from time to time. The bar staff is great, and always friendly. On my last visit the bar seating around the bar was packed. Locals really like this spot, for good reason. It's comfortable, clean and service is fair to good. I placed an order for a carryout pizza and bread. With the busy bar it took a few minutes to catch the bartender to order; expect that placing an order might take a few extra minutes, so if you're in a hurry it might be best to just call ahead. I came in to grab a pizza to take home and ordered a large square ($19 for deep dish versus $17 for hand tossed) with 3 toppings (pepperoni, caramelized onions and Kalamata olives). I have to say, they have some top shelf toppings that you won't find at Jet's. Each additional topping on a large is $2.50, fyi. After looking at the menu online, I was considering ordering a 1/2 and 1/2 large but the pricing for each additional 1/2 topping was still $2.50. Maybe that was a website glitch but that would've meant that I was spending double the price to top a large pizza?! Anyway, I ordered the large and topped the whole thing the same; it was $26.50 for the 3 topping pie. I will give them props for their large squares!.. they are big...bigger than a Jet's larges (14x10), measuring 14x14. I liked that! They topped it with a good amount of pepperoni and a fair portion of the olives, but they chinced me on the cheapest topping, the caramelized onions. There were hardly any : ( Moving on, I ordered a feta bread too. They included both Ranch and pizza sauce, which I appreciate! Their pizza sauce is pretty good, the Ranch is standard but serviceable. The new owners here at Aubree's in South Lyon are amazing. The food and service are just unparalleled. We hosted a dine to donate event with our robotics teams and everything was just perfect that day. No one had complaints and that is hard to do with so many kids and parents! In a touch economic time for restaurants, going to one that really supports the community it's located in should take top priority. They are amazing they pulled it off & beautiful done. We a total of 45-55 people walked in & power went out no idea when it was going to be restored. They stepped up with all kinds of food from deep fried to wraps,salads, pasta, boneless wings drinks from 2 Liters of pop no stress for the family at all The servers & manager's were so caring to all our needs They worked so hard to please us in all things!!' You don't see as much of this service these days not one person acted like they were put out very very nice. I wish I haven't lost the card with all there names on them because they were all fabulous. When I called on phone they were all so compassionate. When power came back on they made sure there was the other food we asked for pizzas & breadsticks, coffee etc. Oh my!!! They mess up orders all the time. When they do, you hardly get an apology. Tonight I placed an order through DoorDash. A large hand-tossed build-your-own pizza, an order of buffalo wings with sauce on the side and an order of boneless wings with sauce on the side. 3 items. My boyfriend went to pick up the order. It said it would be ready by 9:16. When he arrived, he tipped $5. But then the bartender only handed him one box of wings. He said he was missing two items. The bartender went to the computer, and she said 'oh I completely messed up. I didn't scroll all the way down. Sorry.' Then my boyfriend spent the entire fourth quarter of the Super Bowl sitting for half an hour waiting on 66% of our order. She didn't say another word to him. A manager never came over. Nothing was offered. She kept the $5 tip. She spent that half hour talking to everyone else at the bar rail except the person who's order she had completely not sent to the kitchen. Definitely NOT the way to retain a customer, that's for sure. Update: Emailed management and posted this and have received no response. Seems they don't care. read more

Good comfort food. Menu variety is just right. Burgers and sandwiches are fantastic, pizza is pretty good (this from a NYC boy). Wait staff shows just the right level of attentiveness; not ignoring you but not rushing you, either. Fish tacos very good, fish sandwich excellent (but they need a firmer bun to hold that thing). Excellent list of appetizers; just right for a meal, too, if you're not ready for a full meal. I recommend this location specifically! read more

Hostess greeted us with a smile and lead us to our seat. Our waitress was very friendly and a hard worker. The waitress worked well as a team bringing food out ASAP. The nacho tater tots were unique and tasty but nothing to rave about. My Detroit burger was ok again nothing to rave about. The French fries were good but very salty again nothing to rave about. time and time again I make the mistake of ordering from this place, mostly from lack of options in town. Every time I've ordered delivery, I always over tipped the driver only to forget half of my order... seriously, every time. I stopped ordering delivery and decided everything would be better if I just picked it up, wrong. I get home, and everything is cold, missing pieces of the order and so on. Maybe they just hate me lol the manager does offer to take my number and discuss with her other manager, but I never ask for anything. I would just like to get what I pay for.. it's not like it's cheap. Terrible service, very disappointed. We drove 15 miles to have dinner at the South Lyon location. We were seated promptly, and that was it. 10 minutes go by and no one shows up to give water or take our order while we see many servers moving around. 4 people at the front counter had time to chat and show nails to other employees, but didn't bother to move from there to serve us or inform anyone. The restaurant was not full for us to justify the wait. I would like to talk to manager and recommend to do better training for the employees. Felt like that they didn't want to serve customers with colored skin. Never had this bad experience in my 30 years, 22 of which are in multiple, successful QSR's. As a former grad student at EMU in Ypsi, I harbor a strong affinity for the original Aubree's. It's a staple of Depot Town and has such an awesome, rustic small-town bar feel. It's a place to go out with your cohorts or your profs, get a bit buzzed and shoot some pool. This Aubree's, however, is decidedly rural-suburban-family-ish. It looks and feels like an Applebee's on the inside and is located at the end of a strip mall. Every booth has a small t.v. in it, which may be an attractive feature for some, but going there to eat with my partner and having sports blaring at me is knida off-putting. We went at 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday and the bar was surprisingly packed with middle-aged dads watching the U-M/OSU game. There was a pizza buffet was perfectly fine - nothing exceptional, but tasted good. They had salad (but only two dressings available), four pizza types and cheese breadsticks. I tried their pickle pizza (surprisingly good) and the balsamic and tomato pizza. It wasn't mindblowing, but at $10, the food-to-price ratio was right. Perfectly fine if you're looking for a chain-like fast casual vibe, but if you want the feel of the original Aubree's, you're out of luck. read more

Good pizza, even better appetizers and happy hour specials in the bar area - even on the weekend! The brussel sprouts are great but I'm normally just a fan of plain ones, so maybe I'm easy to please. They have many sauces to choose from for wing sauces which they kindly let us choose many to try them. I've had the Hawaiian pizza with flavored crust. It was loaded with toppings and there was plenty to go around. The calzone was a great deal at the time we were there but as far as calzones go, they're better down the street at the Hotel. (Update, no change to rating) Stopped in for trivia and late dinner on a Wednesday evening. We were tucked in the bar area where trivia was taking place and well taken care of by two servers in the area. The food was OK but again nothing mindblowing. I tried the B.A.T. (bacon, avocado, tomato) grilled cheese which was different as it had boursin cheese as opposed to regular cheese. The avocado slices were a nice fresh twist but I would've preferred regular cheese since they obviously already have it as a pizza place and all. Otherwise the toast was well toasted and pretty good overall, I just didn't care for the texture of bousin in there. read more

Love a lot about this restaurant. Casual, great for families during the day and almost always a seat at the bar for a drink at night. Solid happy hour, friendly staff, upbeat atmosphere and clean restrooms. We've eaten here often and had primarily good experiences. Aubree's has been open for about 2-3 months in South Lyon, at this point. My husband and I have been meaning for ages to stop by. Finally, one weekday, we set aside the time to come in for dinner. The place was pretty much dead and we were seated right away. The place is HUGE! I don't remember if Big Boys was this big (it took over the spot where Big Boys was). But there's tons of space for seating inside, outside, and in a separate banquet room. Our waitress was pretty good. About normal. Not outstanding, but not bad either. We ordered the fried Brussels sprouts as an app and split a supreme pizza as our meal. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. They're Brussels sprouts that are fried with bacon, sprinkled with Parmesan, then served with a side of creamy dipping sauce. The Brussels sprouts were delicious and didn't really need the bacon, even. My only critique was that it was savory, with savory, with salty, with savory. The dipping sauce should have been a lively vinaigrette to liven things up and break the taste bud monotony. Our pizza was good. It seemed to have been maybe a hair rushed since the inner crust was pretty limpy and soft. The crust was only barely brown. I think another 3 minutes in the oven would have made all the difference. But the toppings were great. It was wonderful to see that the toppings were cut from fresh things, as in the slices of onion were slivers that you could tell were cut NOT by an industrial machine. The sausage bits were definitely cut from sausage in the casing and not mysterious grey balls like larger chains, etc. We will probably be back to try some of the other specialty pizzas and to get some personal pizzas to go. I hope they nail down the cook time on the pizzas a little better. Their burgers sounded delicious, too, but we didn't see anyone have one to judge. I'd like to see some more Italian dishes, too. read more

I am very glad I decided to stop in for lunch on monday. There were only a few other tables at the time which is common for this area. My waitress was very polite and helpful with the menu. I was in the mood for pizza but chose the calzone instead. I was not disappointed. Calzone came out hot, the toppings were good and their crust is delicious. My order of aubrees bread was served minutes before my calzone but it was nice to have some dipping sauces for the crust. Beer was a bit pricey compared to some other locations in the area. Restaurant is nice and new after replacing the Big Boy. Will definitely return. read more

Heard it was newly opened and came to give it a try. I was excited to see what this restaurant had to offer in comparison to all the other American dining restaurants in the area. I was extremely disappointed in their food and service. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and mac n cheese with a request for sautéed mushrooms in place of chicken. The dip was not house made. In fact, you could still taste the pickled sourness on the artichoke chunks that they didnt even bother to chop up into smaller pieces like a more traditional artichoke dip. I'm pretty convinced that it came straight out of a can/jar. The cheese/dip itself was goopy and had almost a cottage cheese consistency. The pickled taste was so overwhelming that you couldn't really taste anything else - not even the spinach that was barely there. The only good part of the appetizer was the pita chips. It really looked like they just threw spinach and artichokes together in a cream concoction and heated it up all together really quick before serving it to us. It was pretty hard to eat. The mac n cheese also came out goopy and watery. We had a puddle of liquid watered down cheese sitting at the bottom of the plate. The taste was nothing but bland. They even forgot our sautéed mushrooms so all we had was literally the pasta and cheese water. We had to flag down our waitress to let her know that it was missing and she then brought out a side of the mushrooms on a plate for us. When I order mac n cheese at a restaurant, I expect it to be pretty good since its easily made. If not, whats the point in having it on the menu when even I could make a tastier batch at home with more toppings? Overall, the service was just okay. They werent as attentive as usual restaurants like chains such as Applebee's or Red Robins. Water glasses were left empty for a long time and it was hard to find our waitress because she was never around. I guess having a small TV at each table is a good distraction for the customers because it kept them entertained while waiting. The exterior and interior of the restaurant looks really nice, however, everything else was a disappointment for a newly opened restaurant. I dont think I will be coming back. read more

Tough to rate. Food was decent, but service and experience on first visit makes it hard to come back. My daughter got a free small pizza coupon at school, so we made a dinner out of it. Place was empty, but it still took over 5 minutes for a server to visit us. I asked about the Happy Hour specials and was told $1 off beer and half-off appetizers. Neither my wife and I being very hungry, we just got two appetizers. Tater Tot Nachos were pretty good, although meat was bland. My wife ate hers, which must have meant whatever she ordered was good. The kids pizza was pretty good, with sauce that tasted like Prego, and crust that tasted like Crazy bread from Little Caesars. And then we get our bill. First, the small pizza wasn't docked. Fine, no big deal, the guy seemed new. But then the revised bill had full price appetizers. When we asked for yet another fixed bill, he told us he made a mistake, appetizers weren't half off, only a certain one was discounted, you had to sit in a certain spot to get it, yada yada. And the manager said he'd take 10% off for the confusion. I politely asked to speak to the manager because, mistake or not, we wouldn't have ordered full-price appetizers. He ran off and came back, without the manager, to say they'd honor the error "just this time, but don't do it again." I'm sorry, I don't need to be chided by a new waiter because he made a simple mistake and the manager wasn't willing to come out and make things right, personally. Handled better, we would have come back. But there are just too many other places for management to think acting that way will keep you around. This is a fantastic edition to South Lyon and a place I will continue to frequent. Here's why: - as soon as you walk in, you'll notice (besides the nice atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious smells of food) that it is sooooooo clean! I mean, spotless. This is super important to me in any food setting because the last thing I want to do is be grossed out by a place before I get my food (who wants a nice glob of foodborne illness served up with a scoop of mashed potatoes? Not me!) - the staff are helpful and made some suggestions for drinks and a main entrée. - the food AND drinks were great! Both came to our table right after having been made and hit the spot. We got the kale and artichoke pizza which came with a white sauce (as opposed to a red marinara) and was tasty! - prices are not too bad for the quality of everything - this could be a nice family place, a date night and/or a place to kickback and have a drink while watching a sporting event. A welcomed addition to South Lyon and much better than other options, but still not that great. Pros: happy hour- on saturdays! Cons: nothing is THAT good I had an okay calzone and okay wings. The sauces were also just as average. It is a decent spot if your looking for some quick eats, but I wouldn't put too high of expectations on it. I would never recommend someone to go here at any other time than happy hour. That pretty much puts this place in the Bar Louie category. Better food than Louie, but it doesn't have the same atmosphere or "on the way home from work" happy hour location. In closing, average at best... No reason to go out of your way for Aubrees. I'd go to the hotel over it despite the often times questionable clientele. They have my trivia live now though, so hopefully that saves this place for us. read more
