Great spot

Good spot to chill out where it's quiet and peaceful while waiting for a fish on. Always good to enjoy a cold michelada

Didn't know where to place these pics, not Venice Beach, but Marina Del Rey city side canals

Wow, I made the cover! (Well maybe in time more people will write reviews & post pictures & hence my removal) :) Anyhow, I'm not sure if this review fits this location. I'm going with it based on prior reviews & photos - the older photos several years ago. The actual park is located on Via Marina and ends at Pacific Ave. Either way, the entire area is beautiful - though the only unfortunate sight would be looking at the low water levels due to the drought. Description of park is along portion of Via Marina until it curves. You have a area to stroll in, pockets of areas to sit in and take in views from all sides of Peninsula, north & south jetty's, main channel, Playa Del Rey beach, etc. You'll see all moms w/kids meeting up at the same grassy spots, pet parents walking their babies, fit conscious jogging, couples, people strolling, little work out groups (saw a group of lovely ladies - my age & older, doing Zumba). And with that, you get to watch people doing all kinds of water sports whether on boats - canoeing, yahts, sail boats, etc or paddling, jet skis, etc. And the added bonus of plane spotting over the ocean. Description of what is across the street is actually Ballona Creek/Grand Canal with a nice walk path that is probably under 2 miles one way. This canal basically resembles the canals in Venice, however in Marina Del Rey. There's also a bridge that will take you over to Pacific Ave. What you get a nice quiet area to take a stroll in, some use for early morning walks or jogs and there is some wildlife. There are also doggy bag dispensers throughout for your pets. Very nice homes, I can imagine in the millions, but it's always free to go take a stroll, look at them and dream. :) All in all you've got a great area, with lots of great scenic views. Sssshhhhh! It's suppose to be a secret!!

Their sand area is really neat with a huge whale right in the middle, love the ocean theme and extra little area that's filled with sand that the littles can play while being supervised. There is a swings area with a good amount of them so you don't have to wait for a turn and appreciated that. There are some swings that look like a chair really wish they had a strap for the little ones cause if you were to swing fast they can go forward and really get hurt so this one need to be supervised. The play structure has slides and tunnels and different musical items you can be creative like the drums, rain stick and even a flip the musical note and make a sound very neat. There are many open areas that you have to be careful if you have little ones but still fun. There is a huge area if you wanted to bring scooters or kids cars that they can ride around in a big circle. Love that they have bathrooms and a changing table they are a bit on the smelly side but in an emergency they are good. Very well kept and clean. Love that's it's gated that way littles don't go running off but over all this park is great for all age groups can't wait to be back.

The park was fantastic, pristine and spacious with a top tier playground. Felix's parents claimed a prime seating area right outside the playground, where we could eat and socialize while keeping an eye on our various kids. The set-up felt very safe and easy. I admit to losing track of my five-year-old for long stretches at a time, and once finding him in a piece of playground equipment with a group of children he didn't know, giggling as two of their dads spun them around and around. My two-year-old spent a lot of time in the sand with several toddler friends, pouring sand into a play table and also all up in their clothes. We brought our elderly basset hound Duke in a mobility stroller, and he got lots of attention, too. It was a nice outing for our whole family. I also couldn't help but notice that the park was right next to the Santa Monica Airport and other airplane-themed entertainment. We live pretty far from Marine Park, but I have a feeling we'll be back.

Our kids spent the most time on the play structure in this park. Very safe play area, fenced in and clean bathrooms. Lots of kids with their nanny's and others enjoying summer camps. Ample parking. One of the best parks around in our comparative searching.

The "renovation" of Mother's Beach Playground was very disappointing. Instead of actually improving…read morethe playground, the swings were simply removed and never replaced. If the swings were considered unsafe, why were they removed instead of repaired or replaced with new ones? At the same time, there are still loose or missing bolts on some play features and open gaps on the elevated structures where a child could potentially fall. If safety is truly the priority, why were those issues left unaddressed? Now the playground offers much less for young children. Kids can't spend the whole time using only the slides. The swings were one of the best parts of this playground, and many local families came here specifically because of them. Please explain why the swings were removed and consider bringing them back. This playground was never truly renovated--it feels like the only major change was taking the swings away.
