Instead, they gave me a great online deal and I left with Bluetooth for my cell phone and Pandora radio. My old Subaru felt like a brand new car! They were able to install while I waited and they were so fast, I did not make it to every store nearby. Plenty to do while waiting. Great experience Devin made the entire time fun. If you can go anywhere else I would recommend going there. I went in to get my front speakers replaced. They scheduled me for an appointment for 9 am. when I asked how long it takes to replace speakers they said about 30 - 40 mins. what they didn't tell me is that the appointment for 9am just means they will work on it sometime that day. They called me that first day to tell me they would need a bracket for my door and that they would order otherwise it would be very expensive to make. When I picked up my car the owner said that when the brackets got in they would just fit my car in and I wouldn't have to reschedule (lie). I got called a day before the bracket got in and the sales associate Carlos Lujan told me they are just way to busy to slot me in. When I asked for a refund they said they don't do refunds. So I scheduled for a week and a half after the bracket got in. I brought my car in and they finally replaced my speakers... however they also cracked my windshield. When I showed them the crack the Carlos said there was nothing he could do right then because he manager was out for a whole week so I had to wait until he got back into town. I waited the week and called the store manager Brad Cochran and said he had to review the camera's and he would call me back later that day (he did not). I called him the next day he said he had to talk to the general manager and would call me back in a few minutes (he did not). I called him a day later and said he would call the manager and call me right back (he did this time). He response, "They couldn't do anything because the window was broken from the outside and they worked on the inside"... so they broke it from the outside and just won't take responsibility. Updated review due to way too many issues. I now give AE an F. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER GOING HERE! I had a large install with new head unit with touch screen, all new speakers, sub, amp, alarm, auto-start, and wiring for dash cam, and wired radar detector. This was $6k+ install. I thought the install was clean but I was mistaken. My main issues are getting all items completed, attention to detail, and the communication from them. I originally asked for a hard wire to power my radar detector. Unfortunately, my wife had removed the detector prior to leaving my car at AE. Since this wasnt there they didn't run the wire. It would have been easy for them to just call me and I could have brought the detector. I was also sold a HDMI cable for the head unit which also wasnt installed. The alarm has a status led that was left as a wire hanging on the dash an not proper mounted. I was told that they didn't know if it was ok to drill or install on the dash, but they didn't call me to ask where I'd want this led, a call to me would have resolved this question. They ended up removing my cig lighter port which I use to power a USB hub. I wasnt told this was to be removed for a single USB port. This change left my car with minimal USB options. I spoke to the manager and he ordered me a separate USB module at no extra cost. I had to leave my car a second time to get items repaired and resolve issues. The alarm had an issue with setting off my OEM alarm during auto-start. This appeared to be more of a programming issue not any mistake in install. After the second visit most items looked to be resolved. I did have another issue with a console trim panel not being installed correctly and partially falling off. I took my car a third time and they got this reattached correctly. I would recommend they use a punch list of items to install and to go over the details with the customer where on the dash, console, etc items are to be installed. I would recommend more attention to detail. After spending 6k I had a little higher expectations. If spending 6k doesn't get you a top tier install I am not sure what price would. I just got done with my forth visit and all looks ok so far, I will update this review if anything new comes up. UPDATE: Now a 5th visit to fix another item. I found the passenger side door panel not install correctly. I only noticed when I starting hearing wind noise while driving. I saw the panel bowed up and not resting on the door frame correctly. UPDATE: After looking at the rest of my interior door panels I found both rear panels not installed correctly as well. See the pics below. So, they hung 1 out of 4 panels correctly. I decided not to go back for a 6th follow up since I have zero confidence in their abilities and professionalism. I also found 1 of the door panels with a missing screw that holds it to the door. I will be making some TT\Insta vids to detail this experience and help other from making the same mistake of spending money here. I am old enough to remember a time when you wanted a really good install you went to Drivers Den, Mesa, or Hudsons, if you wanted a mid level install you went to Paradise Village or West Coast Sound, and if you wanted crap you went to Cash & Carry or Audio Express. I see that things haven't changed after all these years. I originally paid to have a camera installed in my wife's car and planned to purchase some audio upgrades, but I am just going to take the loss of the money paid since I find they are way too incompetent. The manager just gave excuses like "ohhh whoopsies..we are human and make mistakes", I agree to some extent but this is just too much done wrong by people I now feel shouldn't be working on people vehicles. I will say the audio does sound good but this was not worth the headaches and time wasted. If you want to waste your time, money, and get kicked in the nuts repeatedly then AE is your place!! I wanted a new stereo upgrade but nothing over the top. I did want something touch screen that was Apple CarPlay compatible and they told me the best they could do was $900 including installation. I asked them if I got a stereo elsewhere if they would be able to install and they said no they don't install outside purchases. I ended up going to Best Buy, got a decent stereo with the features I wanted for $250. Best Buy also included free install with my purchase. I don't see how audio express can stay in business with their elitist sales practices. Plus the sales person was Kind of snarky and not really willing to disclose their other options. Worst customer service ever. Especially from Benjamin the "sales manager." Do not bring your vehicles to this location, their pricing was a much higher than the location on San Mateo. Then I was told the manager contacted the other store regarding the discrepancy and they said they were misinformed. No.... you tried to clean up the mess your "sales manager" made by making him seem right. The fact is, this place is trash. We gave them the benefit of the doubt because our original install was done here. Even then, some original parts from our vehicle "went missing." We figured an uninstall and reinstall would be harmless, but they definitely proved us wrong. In the end, per the receipt, we were issued a refund. January 4 2024 I took my car to have an alarm installed same day service drove straight home On January 5th I went out to the car with my friend/mechanic and found deep scratches on my car like it had been hit up against a pole or a wall in three different areas .when I called audio Express the manager Ben stated that his technician did not mention anything to him therefore it did not happen at their establishment when I said I would be leaving a zero review the man that I was speaking to decided he was going to be rude to me and argue with me and hung up on me I then received a phone call from their the manager asking for details again I was told it did not happen during the car being in the bay because they didn't touch the driver's side no but they pulled it into their Bay and out of their Bay and they drove it around to the front which is when this happened again I was meant with it did not happen at our business. These guys are the worst. Took my vehicle in 4 times. Install never worked properly. Damage to dashboard. After weeks of trying they never got the unit to work properly. They sold me on features that they can't get to work. I asked for a refund and they refused. I asked for them to get it right and they said too bad. So the service seemed great at first, but it went down hill quick. I was just getting a new touch screen for my 2011 Volkswagen Golf and I was disappointed with the outcome. First off, when I started asking questions I got a lot of "we can't do this or we can't do that". This should have been a red flag. One of my questions was about the fact that my car came with a Bluetooth receiver already installed so I asked instead of wiring the new radio system to a new external mic could we wire it to the mic already in the car. I got a flat out no and was fairly disappointed. My biggest issue came with the usb wire for connection from my phone to the radio system. I was very specific that I did not want any wires hanging out of the panels. I have two usb adapter plug ins just below the dash and asked if we could install the usb plug into one of those that already exist. I got a hesitant, we will try, but probably no. The sales rep then suggested that I do a 12volt adapter and I said that would be great if we could not do the install into the original USB ports. He then told me he would call me if they were not going to be able to do the usb cable. So today I dropped off the car with high hope and never got a call for anything. After about three hours, I called them back just to check on it and they told me the vehicle was almost done. Once I arrived, I asked assuming because I never got a call, they were able to install the usb into the existing ports. They said they weren't and then asked if I wanted to install the 12 volt conversion. I said yes and was confused why they hadn't already do so given that I really didn't want any open wires. They said okay but then couldn't fit it back in today which meant I had to come back and pay for them to take apart the dash and everything again. This was extremely disappointing seeing how the build was already costing me $600 and didn't even include speakers. I have done previous builds with speakers for $600 and I thought this was a huge price to pay to not even receive what I was looking for to begin with. When I received my car and saw that they had put the usb plug in wedged almost under the passenger seat coming out of the plastic. I then called someone to test the mic and they reported that the mic was repeating everything that they said back to them making it hard for them to understand me. Honestly if I had paid a teenager to do this install I would have thought they had done a great job, but I was highly disappointed with this professional companies work and the money I paid for the whole thing. 10/10 would recommend either doing the work yourself or going to another shop. I will be having another shop see if they can fix my mic and install the 12 volt conversion or hopefully USB adapter for me in the future and won't be bringing my vehicles back for any further work. Took my truck in to add an amp to the door speakers. I had previously had the Santa Fe location add 2 subwoofers and an amp in the rear and changed out the door speakers a $3,300 job. This time I paid $1,500 with tax and labor to add 3 front speakers, a 6 channel converter plus a 4 channel amp. When I picked up the truck they said they did not have time to add the speakers but were done with the amp and converter. Found that the total right side of the truck was not setup, no sound now from the right side. Since this was a priority to them they scheduled me for 7 days later to fix the issue! I had looked at the installation during the week and found the power and ground were not secured to the amplifier! Also found no sound was making it to the passenger front door. Either no signal from the deck or they did not connect the speaker line to the speaker. (I had already expressed my displeasure with their using crimps instead of solder.) They also did not setup the amp or converter, how could they with no sound coming out of the right side. Also found they only have 1 signal coming from the deck and they jumpered to the other input lines on the converter. (Balancing and fading will not work now). I missed the next appt but made another one and they did not record that appointment. When I dropped off the truck for this appt I told them what I found. They promised to correct the issue but now they said that my front speaker was blown and this came after they praised the type of speakers that I had previously purchased. They installed the 3 speakers but did not setup the converter or amp as the settings were wrong. They promised that their tech took the door panel off and found the speaker to be blown even though NO SOUND was coming from it. I had to remove the door panel myself and found that their tech cannot even check the speaker connections. One wire was off due to the poor crimping job. Also one screw is missing off of the speaker. I also had to setup the converter and amp myself since they could not even read the equipment manuals to setup the equipment properly. Will never do business with this place again. I was really disappointed with the alarm that I purchased today for $700. I was quoted $300 that ended up being $700 and they still wanted more to make it work correctly. When I ask for a refund. They said I could only get store credit. They would only give me store credit after they subtracted the hours they worked on it. The only way my alarm will go off now is if someone bangs on it really hard. They said they would put more sensors to make it more sensitive, but it would cost EVEN MORE.... GRrrrrr..... I had them install a viper alarm and remote start on my Envoy. I also purchased the warranty as a back up. Less than a month later the remote start quit working and had to take it back for repair. Installation was the issue. At or about the 6 month period the remote went out. Thankfully I bought the warranty and they replaced it for free. However, I had to purchase another warranty to cover that one. Now it is at the 8 month mark and the remote start is not working again. I called to make an appointment to get it repaired and was told to drive across town so they could look at it, determine what is wrong before they will make an appointment to fix it. I am giving this business one star because of poor service, Poor installation, and poor product warranty. I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to do your business. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you want to be taken advantage of , overcharged for things , and talked to like you are stupid then I 10/10 recommend this shop. A couple years ago I had a service done to install a new radio and subwoofer system to my vehicle they had STOLEN a adapter chord I had in there for aux. fast forward to now I have a new car and wanted to install my previous purchased system into it. I figured using the same service would be best because they installed it in the first place. WELL..... I called and got a estimated price for $250 , I get there and they price me over $400. I decided to purchase the service just in case but still do my research elsewhere for better prices. The other location was $280 plus tax and King Kong customs was the same not even in the 300's. I get salesmen get commission from making sales but how is the same franchise but a different location gonna price me significantly less?... I called for a refund , I was told they do not give refunds , I was also told that there was no manager to confirm this.. after having a HEATED argument with BENJAMIN (that's who told me all this info of having no manager, that he is the manager, was very nasty and argumentative, etc) who works at this store he finally said "let me get my manager" and put me on the phone with the manager Damian who very easily and willingly offered to issue me a refund as well as explained everything start to finish so we were on the same page.. he didn't necessarily acknowledge how awful his employee was treating me however... all and all We concluded at just giving me a refund and that would be that. No matter what location I go to here in Albuquerque I get the same level of service. Absolutely zero. Just one example is that they operate on a first come first serve basis and never bother to tell you when you drop your vehicle off when they intend to look at it. If there is multiple people that have beat you there upon opening then they let you sit there waiting until they get around to your vehicle rather than tell you that there are people in front of you and it would be better to leave it with them. If my vehicle wasn't under warranty then I would take it somewhere else but it's not so I will need endure the hassle of dealing with them for the time being. Man I got took... had a pre-amped JL sub installed, they sold me a LC2i audio controller($90) I didn't need but didn't know. Tried to have my same setup put in a newer vehicle that I traded up for, dude wanted to charge me almost $400 to reinstall, I didn't even pay that the first time. No return customer appreciation. Took my ride to Paradise Village, guy there told me again, I didn't need the LC2i he stated it under powers the sub. Showed me the JL connector that was designed for that sub. costed $20!!!!! He also stated they would have known that if they read JL specks. Out the door my installation was $230 and they didn't break clips and cut my interior panels. And sounds 100 times better! This staff and this business deserves all the credit in the world. I had an original AutoStart installed in another state by another custom shop. The Key Fob recently got broken and needed to get calibrated. I searched online through multiple sites to no avail. I went into this business the first thing on Saturday morning after waiting in the parking lot. They took me first, immediately went out and started working with the configuration of the device. Not 1 minute later, the car made a beep and it started working. They didn't charge me a thing even though the device was not installed by them. I spent over $900 at the store. I was looking forward to my new sound system. I left my car there paid $180 for installation, picked up my car drove away and ended up stranded because the wiring was incorrectly done and killed my battery. Apparently there was no shut off to the app. When I got in the car in the morning the amp was hazardously hot. I was not happy with the resolution they gave me which was a 15% coupon off my next purchase. I found that 15% coupon to be an insult. I would not take my car here again nor would I recommend this business to anyone. I think they made a big mistake and did not offer to do anything to satisfy my inconveniences. Worst experience of my life with any business, EVER!!! I don't even know where to begin. I had an over priced car stereo, (amps, speakers and subwoofers) installed to my vehicle that cost thousands of dollars by Audio Express that has never worked correctly even after 3 visits and 30 hours of work!!! Less than two months later my navigation system no longer works, I can not change radio stations, raise or lower the volume, my passenger window goes up and then comes down. etc. etc. I will never return to Audio Express after I received by email a Lease Agreement that was forged with my signature, fraudulently signing me into a contract for $1,471.25. This Lease Agreement was later deleted by the manager Brian. I received multiple threatening phone calls from Audio Express employees claiming I had stole the equipment and they were going to call the police. I said please go ahead so I can sue your asses off. I saved all my receipts and emails with the forged Lease Agreement. I now have to take my vehicle to another car audio shop to have it either repaired or replaced because the incompetent idiots at Audio Express can NOT be trusted. Neither Brian or Scott (the manager from the other Audio Express location in Albuquerque) will return my phone calls anyways. You have been warned!!! Stay as far away as possible. Went in today to get a new alarm system put in my Honda S2000. I spent a little more than I expected, but I'm overall satisfied with the service. We arrived right at 9 and they were able to finish our install by 11AM. I believe the man helping us was named Ray. He answered all of our questions and helped us with the alarm selection the day before when we did a diagnostic service ($40). There was a small miscommunication with what we wanted and what they did, but they took care of us and gave us a small discount. My recommendation is asking all questions before they start the service, so your expectations can be met in the end. read more

They left wires exposed consoles not put together properly and then I pull my deck out and find out that they didn't even do the rewire went back got attitude from the store manager james horne until they checked it out then they fixed it but nothing happened to the employee who tried to steal my money and the manager worked in the back prior to his new position so i feel like they are ripping alot of people off do not take ur vehicle here these guys act like they are professionals but they're just a bunch of dudes in a shop that don't really give a shit they devalued my car by messing up and interior and if they did this to me they have done it before and will continue to rip people off especially if they know u won't check their work. read more

This will take a few minutes. Unfortunately I had to go to both of the ABQ locations. First, Ace at the San Mateo store sold me speakers that weren't right for my car. Since my installation appointment wasn't until the next day, I had time to check them out at home and confirm that they definitely would not fit my vehicle, and I could have bought them for less than half the price if I had just shopped Amazon. I had still resolved to just swap speakers and go forward, but Cheech ruined that for everyone. When I went in the next day, he told me he could do component speakers instead of coaxials for the same price. After 30 minutes or so of a bunch of sales bologna about how Ace was going to get in trouble for giving me such big discounts etc., he tells me it's going to be $20 more. I said no, I want to keep the same price I had agreed to the night before, and if he wants to lose the whole sale over $20, no big deal. Instead of suggesting different speakers (I was obviously already OK with coaxials) he said, "No problem man! You're not the only guy in town with money!" That was absolutely the last straw for me with him. I brought everything inside and returned it. Went to the West Side store, and Anthony went above and beyond to make everything right - got me a deal I could live with and promised same-day install. While the installation was being done, my car was driven 19 miles. 19 MILES!!! And then I got a call from Damian saying that there had been a small accident that resulted in damage to the rear bumper, but don't worry because they'll take care of everything. I went by the next day to talk it over and get my dash installed correctly (It was 3/4 of the way in when I picked it up), and Damian told me to come back in the next day when the manager, Chris, would be there. I ended up having to take the ENTIRE next day running to FOUR different body shops to get estimates because they didn't actually want to pay for repairing it. Somehow they were thinking that they could just spray paint over where the paint was taken off or something, and that would constitute a repair. After all of this, Chris puts me on the phone with Devin, the district manager, who says I need to take it their guy and he is the only one I can have the repair done by - since they're paying for it, they get to choose who fixes it. Obviously, since they had proven to be completely unreliable and untrustworthy up to this point, I don't want any more of "their" guys touching my car. I ended up going to "their" guy to get another estimate - his is the 2nd most expensive and he is one of 2 that said the bumper needs to be replaced. Funny thing is, his reasoning wasn't at all in line with what the other guy said, and he actually said the bumper is "bulging on the sides" (it's not) and "won't hold a repair." SO, after spending over $1000 with them, I'm left with $652-$812 worth of damage on my car (depending on what estimate you go with) and no end in sight for resolution. 7/2019 purchased a new car alarm system for a new used car. The prices in the store are not as advertised, they added an interface for $90 and the warranty was an extra $40. Total price was about $480 with an extra remote. The system took 2 days to install, the next week my car wouldn't start. AAA gave me a jump and after going to a different Audio Express across town, they "fixed" the problem. Not exactly professional installation. They charged my battery so I could go home but I found out that my battery went completely bad after owning the car for a month. Customer follow-up was non existent. Took my daughters car here for a new radio and speakers. Although I can't be sure I think we got a good price. One thing for sure was great service. We were in and out quick when we dropped off the car. Better yet it wasn't to long before we got the call to come pick it up. When we got there they spent as much time as my little girl (she'll always be a little girl to dad, lol) needed to learn how to work her new sound system. worthless company, worthless service, and worthless help. if you need anything audio either DIY it with Crutchfield or take your car to Paradise Village off San Mateo. here at Audio Express they installed my stereo and did worse than a half assed job, it wasn't wired properly so the system was strangled for power and couldn't turn up all the way. on top of that when i told them about the issue they came up with every excuse to not fix it unless i bought a $600 amp from them. i talked to other experts form Crutchfield and said they're excuses were bogus. when i took the stereo out myself to try to fix it i saw they're handy work which was horrible, wires just tossed around and not tied down, terrible routing that could've cut the wires, and the harness was hardly held down. ultimately i took it to Paradise Village and they fixed all my issues for cheap. I've continued to go to Paradise village since and they're honest and stand by they're work and will fully explain what they're going to do or how they can help you. read more

Horrible customer service! We spend over 400 dollars on a car stereo only to be lied to on the installation. The man who sold us the stereo was nice and set us up an appointment for the weekend for installation . Told us we would be the first in line and the installation would be done in an hour. Came in on Sunday and the employee was very rude and told us we would have to wait over 4 hours for the installation. If we knew that we would have planned better. But .when we brought up what the manager said , the employee got very rude and said "I run the show bro!" Very disappointed .
