Terrible service. They don't answer their phone, no message service and they don't return calls like they tell you. They don't communicate with clear and direct answers to questions everything is just a loop of all the parts and equipment they want to sell you. Better hope they can install what you ask them to because when they can't and screw up your radio they don't attempt to take any steps to fix it and make your radio have basic functionality again. We had to take the car to a dealership to get the radio reset and functioning again, to discover audio express did not reconnect the backup camera after putting the dashboard back together. Ryan at the counter clearly needs more education and training. Obviously I am an irate customer given my review I was vocal about being upset and the manager next to him did not intervene and try to assist or clarify anything. Save your time and money and do not go to this location. read more

Extra star cuz the counter dudes were cool. I responded to an ad for a bluetooth deck for $149. I decided to get some Alpine speakers for $139 as well. No ONE DOLLAR installation anymore, so the price tag ended up being around $500 with the installation. I was willing to go with that. I left my car there. 30 minutes later they called and said I needed a conversion kit, with an additional installation fee and my bill was gonna be $800. A $300 system installed for $800?? WHAT A JOKE! They got ZERO dollars from me instead of the $500 I was willing to pay. NICE TRY THOUGH!! read more

We took our 69 Chevelle here to get new audio installed. They are not only incompetent but a complete fraud. The audio was so poorly installed that on the first drive home it dis-attached causing dents from the inside of the trunk! We called and told them what happened and there was zero remorse or reimbursement. We sent pictures and they still said there was nothing you could do. The company doing the repair measured not only the dents but the equipment and completely confirmed that's exactly how it happened! We have filed a report with the better business bureau and have sent an email to corporate but have yet to receive a call. If you want to save yourself a HUGE headache do not deal with this company they are a complete fraud. Not only are we out over $4K but the audio they installed never worked! Wish we could give them negative stars because that's truly what they deserve. read more

Cody was the main guy on the job and was very helpful throughout the process. I came in on Friday, brought in my car on Saturday, and they had the job done in 4hrs. I purchased a car alarm that failed while in CA, almost stranded me. Had to pay for a new unit as the said I violated the warranty. We were leaving in the morning so i called in to see about how long it would be to check out my radio and Steve said he could sneak us in if we stopped by before to check it out. Steve was super friendly and helpful right from the start and said he would only charge me if they were able to fix it and it required a lot of work. They went and did trouble shooting for free and were able to figure it out in just a couple minutes. For being a large company, Steve does an awesome job of making it feel like your local spot. My subwoofer just stopped working so I stopped in at the Audio express on cactus and paradise village parkway location, even though I originally had the installation done at the Indian school near 24th st location. They fixed it within 20 minutes, replaced the speakers without an appointment and were super cool and professional about it. I can't believe I'm on here giving Audio Express a five-star review, but these guys deserve it. Its been more than a few years since my car stereo days of custom-building subwoofer enclosures and soldering capacitors to speaker terminals, but this week those days returned - due to theft. Yes, my car stereo was stolen. Windows smashed, wires ripped, worthless car stereo sold on the street for twenty bucks so some meth-head can get high for another twenty minutes. Its the way it goes. I cruised into Audio Express on a whim, as I was in the vicinity, and am I ever glad I did. All I needed was a handful of connectors and a few other odds and ends, and that's what I got. I was in and out in a flash, and I got exactly what I needed for a fraction of the cost had I gone to Home Depot, Radio Shack, or my local hardware store, for that matter. Audio Express- home, home, home of the one dollar install. I didn't even think this place was still around, until a few months ago when I did something most people would consider very strange. I had a cassette player installed in my car and I am not ashamed. My old one broke, and I just wasn't ready to let my mixed tapes go. Seriously. I have a ton of really good mixed tapes and not that many CD's. Ever since I discontinued my membership in a CD club in high school, I stopped buying them. But I kept making mixed tapes. So one day I was thinking, I have all these fantastico mixed tapes and no way of listening to them. And that's when I heard, Audio Express, home, home, home of the one dollar install. Music to my ears. I called and they still sell cassette players and yep, you guessed it, they did install it for one dollar. But the catch is that you do have to buy the player from their store. You obviously can't buy it from somewhere else and hope they'll install it for a buck. My total bill was pretty cheap (I got a cassette player after all) and I can now cruise happily around listening to Bust a Move and Wild Thing. read more

Because he willing to make a deal I had them install a new Kenwood head unit, additional speaker amp, backup camera, and hush mat material around the speaker surroundings. The system was worth the money, came out better than I anticipated. Very clean install to be quite honest. I have used Audio Express on several of my cars, usually name brand companies like this aren't always the best; but this PV location has always been good to work with and I have never had an issue. I found Audio Express through an InstallCard I received for problems my Sirius radio was having with reception and power loss. I can't give this place and Josh (manager) enough kudos. To begin with, even before I came in, Josh CALLED ME (when was the last time a place called you first!) to talk to me about what I needed done, and saved me a lot of headache. The antenna Sirius had sent me wasn't going to solve my problem, and he explained exactly what to call them back and ask for. Once I got the proper part, I went in to get the work done, and not only did they finish the job inside of an hour, installing a new fm direct antenna and fixing the power problem, but they also even fixed a battery cable connection problem I had. The store is super clean, and I even got to sit and watch a movie on one of the many DVD players while I waited. Josh was super friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job. I will certainly go back if/when I need any car audio help. And I can't be happier finally getting full reception on my sirius radio, instead of driv- -ound listen- to a radi- that cuts ou- -nstantly. So incred- -ly ann- -ying. read more

AE gets 2 stars for their misleading advertising. I have NEVER paid someone to install a system for me. It's just not that complicated to do it yourself. Also, I have NEVER bought audio equipment from a shop, always online, it's 30-100% cheaper to buy online. But I figured for a $1 install (that I have hear about on the radio at least 20 times since I've been here in Phoenix for 2 weeks), I would support an actual store and buy equipment from them. Obviously I wouldn't expect them to install equipment I brought from outside their store for just a dollar. The $1 install ONLY applies to alarm systems and Single DIN headunits. For some reason, double DIN headunits are $55, and a Navigation headunit is $110....even if you buy it from them!! And apparently that's half of their standard rate!!! WTF? Let me tell you, there is NO difference in difficulty for installing a Single DIN vs Double DIN. None. None at all. It's just a bigger unit. Yes a Nav system takes just a little more as you have to wire the antenna somewhere. But not $110 dollars worth (or $220 if you bring in your own). Even if you buy a single DIN head unit and speakers, they will still charge you to install the speakers ($65/pair). The $1 install literally only applies to the headunit itself. So if you only need a single din HU or an alarm, sure, its not a bad deal. But if you want speakers and subs, watch a Youtube video and do it yourself. read more

We purchased a complete sound system for our Porsche 911 from Scottsdale air park location. When we first picked up the car the sound system whined and our car had loud wind whistles. Being extremely excited to finally swap out the stock stereo in my car, I visited this store because it was the closest place to our house; and I am VERY glad that I ended up doing so. Turns out that my car was a bit of a complex installation and required a specialty wiring harness to avoid disabling other electronic features of the car. Joseph was 100% honest and upfront about this and was able to put together an incredible deal for me right on the spot. The store was clean with great demos set up all over and the sales staff was very friendly and welcoming. OMG! watch your wallet! A year ago, I purchased an Alpine INA-W900 unit with XM, Bluetooth, navigation, DVD audio/video, backup camera, and IPod connectivity. This unit cost me $1,900 installed and I installed it in my 2003 SAAB 93 convertible. The salesman/manager at the time was named Michael. He told me the unit was the top of the line (@ $1,900 I believed him). I neglected to buy the extended warranty (thinking a $1,900 unit would be fine). For this amount of cash, I expected a pretty good unit and install. My problems started immediately. I think the Alpine unit (new model when purchased) was not high quality. But Audio Express made a bad situation miserable. Immediately after purchase, the Bluetooth did not work properly. To this day, nobody will take my Bluetooth phone call. They tell me the static is unbearable and hang up. This Audio Express location moved the microphone twice (without charge) but did not correct the problem. This add-on Bluetooth feature cost additional money and I have not been able to use it since new. Just as well, the purpose of a Hands-Free calling is to make calls without distraction. Unfortunately on Alpine units, you must scroll through 4 hard-to-read screens to make a voice activated phone call (shouldn't sell it as hands-free?) Second, the XM radio would lose its signal & capability. The XM screen would magically disappear rendering me without the XM capability (for which I paid $150 annual subscription). Audio Express told me I needed to remove the radio, unplug it, and hard reboot. Audio Express performed this task twice free of charge, but then told me I should have purchased the extended warranty so they could do it weekly without additional charge. This happens so often, I eventually, simply quit taking it back. I have an expensive XM radio that doesn't work. Michael was no longer working at this location 1 month later and new managers took over. However, they gave me the same excuses. Had I purchased the extended warranty, they could make my $1,900 unit work without additional charges. Another option this location and 2 other Audio Express gave me: They would take back the unit and give me roughly $300 off another $2,000 unit (different and better brand). I'm sure I paid more than $200 for the backup camera feature. Unfortunately, the Alpine screen takes about 10 seconds to boot up. By that time, I'm back up and moving forward. I've yet to use the backup feature. Audio Express told me no return and refund for that. Other Audio Express problems were inability to make my steering wheel controls operate and cup holder unable to pop out. After they received my cash, they told me steering wheel controls adapters were not available for my SAAB. Unfortunately, no returns or refunds allowed. However, they offered $300 credit in exchange for another $2,000 unit. They eventually made my cup holder work (nice job Audio Express). I dropped my car off six different weekends before I gave up on Audio Express. Now it is one year later and I moved to Tucson (which also has Audio Express locations). They offered me similar credits on new units but it would cost another $1,400 to replace with a better unit. Last week, I went to a local store named The Specialist. For $33, they relocated the XM antenna and my signal is better (keep my fingers crossed). Unfortunately, I can't give a lower rating than 1 Yelp star. Audio Express sold me $1,900 worth of stuff that either doesn't work or operates poorly. My only option is to get a greatly reduced credit towards another brand. Burned once, shame on Audio Express. Burned twice, shame on me. read more

A key to great customer service is consistency. An elderly friend of mine needed to get her car locks checked out. I recommended PV Audio Express because they treated me like a family member when I got my car lock repaired last year. Second time around, it was just the same. Sam the manager treated my friend with such care and honesty. It turns out she didn't need a lock. Sam discovered she was not turning her key properly to unlock the door. So disappointed to write this review. Got my 16 year old son a sound system for his 2001 4Runner for Chrustmas. Initially very pleased with the experience, helpful, informative, schedule install right before the new year. Had some issues with the interface between the system and power antenna brought it back and it seemed better. Fast forward to Feburary, loud hissing from speakers even with volume all the way down. Back again, they took a look and determined it was an incompatible receiver. Offered to credit the original cost on a compatible receiver that was about a $100 more. Went for it. Complaint is I've been standing in store for almost 45 minutes. Two employees working with three people waiting. When I finally got home, found the receiver box in the back seat, no warranty card, no user's manual. Called the store and was told they probably could find it. Not sure if I got a returned receiver. Amazed that I just spent $108 to correct their mistakes. Next time I will buy online and install myself. read more
