So disappointed to write this review. Got my 16 year old son a sound system for his 2001 4Runner for Chrustmas. Initially very pleased with the experience, helpful, informative, schedule install right before the new year. Had some issues with the interface between the system and power antenna brought it back and it seemed better. Fast forward to Feburary, loud hissing from speakers even with volume all the way down. Back again, they took a look and determined it was an incompatible receiver. Offered to credit the original cost on a compatible receiver that was about a $100 more. Went for it. Complaint is I've been standing in store for almost 45 minutes. Two employees working with three people waiting. When I finally got home, found the receiver box in the back seat, no warranty card, no user's manual. Called the store and was told they probably could find it. Not sure if I got a returned receiver. Amazed that I just spent $108 to correct their mistakes. Next time I will buy online and install myself. read more

Editing my review from before-- My first experience here, about 8 months ago, was disappointing. What should have been a simple fix to my aux port turned into a $200+ radio replacement service. I wasn't happy with the end result and ended up fixing my aux port myself and removing the radio previously sold to me. Fast forward, and the new manager of this Audio Express heard about what happened. He went out of his way to redeem my experience and took back the radio that was once installed in my car. He was punctual in his responses and accommodating to my situation. The level of service I received the second time around completely changed my experience and opinion of this place! I would recommend going back, now that it's under new management and seems to have restored integrity in their services! read more

The prices seemed fair and the sales manager was very friendly. It was very easy to schedule installation and they were ready right on time. There was one minor installation issue but it was fixed right away once it was pointed out. The only suggestion I would have is the installation crew needs to take more care and clean the customer vehicle. I found numerous wire pieces, a connector and other pieces of trash left over from the installation. There were enough pieces strewn under the dash and on the carpet that it would've been appropriate for them to vacuum it before returning it. Just a suggestion on how it might be improved. Otherwise, I would use this company again for automotive audio installation or security needs. read more

Had a pretty negative experience here. I went in with a gift card to get a new deck installed and waited about an hour and a half to be helped and there was only one person ahead of me. I then ordered the parts I needed and was told to make an appointment once my parts had arrived. I called the store and set an appointment at 11am. They told me it would take approx 2-3 hours to install. 3 hours later I called and they hadn't started on my car yet. When I asked why they said they had a lot of cars that day. I asked how long it would be and they said 2-3 more hours. When I complained to the manager he said the only thing he could do for me was refund my purchase. Not very helpful. Asked for an install of a unit I had them take out of another car that I purchased from them to re install into the new one and the install price for installing into the new vehicle was outrageous! It went from $260.00-$600.00! Blew a bunch of smoke up my A** ! So i did some research and of course I was right they are thieving clowns! Of course there is a mark up, how else can they stay in business? I had no problem bringing parts in along with purchasing other equipment from them. Sean is awesome! I can be fairly annoying, i know this about myself lol, and he has been bery patient and very helpful. I have shopped around and found them to be fair. And hoot, I also checked out soundwerks, all they carry is pioneer, nothing else, so of course they tell you how awesome pioneer is and everything else sucks. Well I like a bit more variety. I'm guessing they aren't licensed to carry any other brand. That should tell you something. I prefer Kenwood anyway. And no one, at both stores I have gone to, and I have been using them for more than 10 years, has anyone ever asked for a tip. Trust Your Vehicle to Installation Experts. I hired a Guy from Craigslist who said he has 3 years shop experience... He came to my home as promised. Took forever, was reading all the installation manuals like it was his first time. After 2 plus hours of limited movement, I mentioned to him I was going to go inside my home for a few minutes to take a shower, When I came out 10 minutes later, he was gone. Left my home with the car door opened and all materials on my driveway. Now I am missing one of my back up cameras. _gone!.. I took my Nice Car to Audio Express at Cactus Rd. by PV Mall and met with Andrew, the manager, He gave me a sound price to put in 2 sets of component speakers and 5 channel amp as well as a new head unit. Get your car to the company that does this every day of the week!.. They have all the tools / know how and experience. Nice friendly installers, competent - reliable work, and a sincere way to care about quality.. I would highly recommend this shop, and I seldom recommend anybody in the labor field.. They even gave me a ride back to my home when I dropped off my car. These guys are good! Update: I wanted to replace my front and rear cameras, they did it with no problem- Quick and efficient! I would be really careful about what you are being "sold" as part of a car audio package. Being older and wiser now, personally, I would not go back to Audio Express. At least my experience was long wait time, hit-or-miss with the installer (technician) you may get, and the $0.01 install is the hook to get you in the store so you can buy whatever the salesperson can sell you on. I had my stereo stolen out of my truck and brought it by Audio Express to get what was taken replaced. Looking through the grill covering the speakers, salesperson Bradley A. Halverson said it looked like they had been stolen, too. He then sold me a stereo, front and rear speaker sets, and 3 warranties that HE NEVER ASKED ABOUT. When I came to pick up the truck I found 4 old speakers in the cab, which apparently had not been stolen. When I asked the salesperson (still Bradley A. Halverson) about this, he told me they were blown anyway and I would have to pay for labor to put them back in. My stereo worked fine before the head unit was stolen and after checking the old speakers it seems like only one speaker was actually blown. The guys at Audio Express knew why I was purchasing speakers and had my phone number but did not call when they opened up the grills and saw the speakers. Be careful with this company! read more

We bought almost 400.00 in Audio equipment for them to install the next morning. Including XM radio add on. Got there a few minutes after opening thinking I had an Appointment to bring in the Motor Home to do the install. Ha, after waiting in the Lot for 3 hours I'd had enough and went back inside for the 3rd time and got my money back. If you like head banger music so loud that you cant hear anything then this is the place for you. We will never go there again. read more

I purchased a radio from the cactus audio express and had them install it. When I arrived to pick up my car I was not given any information on any issues they may have come across. But when I got into my car the first thing I noticed is that my air conditioning display no longer worked. The A/C was blowing but I had no way to know what mode it was on (defrost, dash vents, or floor) and I had no way to know what the blower setting was on. They didn't find it necessary to tell me that this was no longer working as if I would be okay with that. So then they tell me that those controls don't work without the factory radio installed in the car. Which obviously is not true and I was not okay with that. Call me weird but I need my car to function properly. So with some additional research we found that there is an extra harness that you can purchase that will allow the A/C controls to work with an after market stereo. So I agree to pay them more money to fix and they ordered the part. I leave the store and find that there are more issues. The stereo I purchased had a face that flips down to allow you to insert a CD or DVD but the face would not flip down. So I was not able to remove the face (for security) or put any dvd's or cd's in. Next thing I noticed is that as soon as I turn the radio on there is a loud humming sound coming from my sub woofer all the time. Very annoying! So when the part comes in I make an appointment to get my car back up there, and when the day arrives I drop the car off and tell them the other issues I was having, they say they will take care of those issues and call me when its ready to pick up. In a couple of hours they call but instead of telling me the car is ready they tell me that it still will not work unless I buy an additional harness which would be another $70. At this point I have spent over $1000 for a stereo that was $699. I was not happy about the new charge but I need everything to work so I told them to go ahead and fix it. Less than an hour later they call back again, this time they tell me that the steering wheel controls are not working that the I will need a different steering wheel control module. The module they originally installed was working just fine, but now all of a sudden its not working any more. So for this they want another $80! How could I possibly not be pissed off by this point and I told them I don't want to pay any more money and that I just want a refund for the stereo. They tell me that they do not do refunds and that there was nothing I could do but pay them the money. I will never ever do business with this audio express again!!! read more

I have bought multiple pieces (auto start alarm, back up camera and new stereo system). Brandon and his crew are knowledgeable and friendly. They are always willing to help even after the sale. At one point I had a problem with my truck. Thought it was related to the auto-start they installed. I started at my mechanics they said it was the auto-start, and then had towed to Audio Express. After getting me in ASAP, Brandon and his crew found the issue in 30 min. Never complained or were upset. They said your mechanic should had found this. Showed me it was a blown fuse on the batter post. They even helped me with a work around so I could drive my previously disabled truck back to the mechanic and show them (didn't have to have truck towed again). I can't say enough how this place is honest, nice, and I wouldn't hesitate a second going there to buy more equipment. Having add-ons aftermarket can be a bit stressful, but with Brandon and his crew they have taken that stress out out of adding those great after market items. Thank you guys! read more

Went in today to get a new stereo, quoted me 800 for a new deck and to hook up my existing amp and sub. Went back with the car an hour later went to pay it jumped up to over 950. I said I was here an hour ago and you quoted me less after some talking they came back down in price but after paying I noticed they switched the stereo to a less expensive one. I should of walked away then. They said the stereo came with back up camera included as the deal. Came back a bit later said they were almost done but there was an issue with the new camera and would have to use existing camera and I would need to buy a new hook up for it. Another 140 dollars then said to hook up existing amp and sub 100 for one 80 for the other which was suppose to be on the existing 800 quote. At that point I said forget it and I don't want any of it. Had to call my cc company to get a refund because they wouldn't. Then they put the equipment in my car and I asked them to take it out of the trunk. They would not. So at that point took a video of me taking it out. They asked me to go around front and they would bring my car around so I started to but walked back to the garage where they were loading the equipment back in the car. Then I started filming again to take it back out. Had to call the police to get them to bring my car out of the garage. Super shady! I wish I could post the video of the whole thing. read more

This place is ridiculous. I walked in there looking for a wiring harness for my GM car. They sold me the wrong part for $130.00 then he proceeded to open it up to verify it would work on my car. When it turned out that it wouldn't they refused to give me the money back saying it was against their policy to issue refunds. So your associate sells the wrong part to me and opens the package but then refuses to do a refund citing policy? I have never had a worse customer service in my life. It took me arguing with the guy for 20 minutes to get him to finally call the manager to issue a refund. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIPOFF JOINT! read more

I received a set of speakers for Christmas. Though it was a generous gift, (and I needed better speakers), I didn't want to install new speakers in an old car I'm looking to sell. Couldn't return them for cash, okay........could return for a store credit only. " Could I get a gift card?" "NO". Your speakers are your gift card, just come in and trade them for the merchandise you want." I was told this when I called..... okay.............What I was not told at that time was that I only have 30 days from the purchase date to do it ! After 30 days you are stuck with the purchase/gift. I was under the impression that I had time. I was told that merchandise changes and that the speakers that were bought 4 months ago would not even be stocked anymore! "Sorry, but we can install those for you for $75 a pair. Another store told me I should have been able to get a gift card within those first 30 days and that the return policies are on the receipt. My bad for not reading. Their bad for not informing me of any time constraints that I might not look for as the recipient of a gift. I felt a little duped and cheated of vital info on that first phone call! Buyer beware! read more

I went to audio express at PV mall to have a stereo, speakers, alarm and remote door locks installed on a rebuilt 1970 chevy pickup. They assured me they could do the work. i picked out the stereo and speakers. They recommended a baffle since the speakers were going into the doors and the accuators needed for the door locks. After the work was completed, they informed me they could not find the ignition wire to wire the ignition kill switch (this truck had been completely rewired using standard wiring harnesses so should have been obvious). anyway i had to take it back to the place i had it wired (a reputable shop in which wiring is there specialty) and they not only wired the kill switch but also fixed the wiring audio express did (unhooked the brake lights...huh?). Next my passengers side accuator failed and i went in to get it fixed. Josh said he did not need to look at it. The night of my purchase, one of the techs had recommended heavy duty actuator due to the age of the truck. They did not install these and josh said he would order those for me and install with no labor. I also asked about the baffles as i had noticed sound deadening tape on the inside of the door but no baffles. He said they though this was a better application. I asked to see the rates and he showed me $120 for the tape and $80 labor. My bill still shows baffles with no added labor for $200. i questioned the labor and he said the door panels have to taken off. Well i can take them off in 5 min and besides the panels had to be taken off for the speaker install anyway. (feel this price was to get it to the $200 of the baffle price). Also, i told him i would not have authorized that as i could get the same tape in my truck book for 12 a sheet (12x 23 inches) for $12.00 and could have installed it for free easily. Also brought to his attention the poor quality of work installing the speakers. instead of using the old holes (from speakers that had previously been in the doors which i removed and know how they were installed) new holes were drilled next to the old ones making the area weak. After a few months of slamming these heavy old doors, those speaker will rip out leaving a hole difficult to fix. I brought in some clip nuts and asked why they were not used. He said he did not know as they have them in the back. They also removed the eschusians on the door handles and replaced them with the wrong ones. He is willing to only give me free labor to install the new actuators (which i am willing to pay for minus the price of the ones currently installed, minus my store warranty, minus the $80 labor for installing tape....they are lucky i am not requesting the price i had to pay to complete the wiring and fix their wiring mistakes.) please think twice about using this store. Don't know if they tried to get one over on me because i am a female or because it is an old truck and they feel not deserving of care and quality. I will have about $30,000 and 3 years of work in truck when it is done. Most of the work done myself so i am not stupid and know something about autos. I have since been back to speak with Josh, the manager. He apologized and agreed to installing new actuators at no cost, reinstalling my speakers appropriately and even reimbursing my for lost euschusians. The repairs were made and Josh was very caring to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. I will return to buy products as i find they have a good selection and knowledgeable sales staff (chad is awesome). I still am leery of the installation and will use my own people for install but will purchase product from this story. Thanks Josh... read more
