I do not recommend this shop for vehicle electronics installations. I contacted them beforehand with very specific details about my fleet vehicle and the hardwired GPS tracker I supplied. I explained the features I needed, and they assured me they could complete the installation correctly. I even offered access to the tracker app so they could test their work, but they declined. After paying a premium price for the installation, I discovered the lock/unlock functions were reversed. I called and was told to bring it back, despite the shop being over an hour away. Shortly afterward, my vehicle developed an EPC warning light and check engine light related to the installation. Their only solution was to bring it in on their schedule, which caused me to lose a scheduled reservation and more time. I ended up taking the vehicle to the dealership because I no longer trusted the shop to work on it. The dealership had to repair the issues, and I was left covering the cost. What should have been a $250 job ended up costing me around $1,000. The mistakes are frustrating, but the lack of urgency and accountability afterward was the biggest problem. I would not recommend this shop for important vehicle electronics work. read more

The previous shop had tried and tried and tried to make repairs to my unit, making me spend hundreds more than the thousands I had already spent. They provide everything.. but there are long wait times. Be careful.. This location seems to be a one stop shop. Providing tinting, car audio service, and even breathalyzer interlock or alarm installation. This location in town based off of rio Salado and the 101 in Tempe.. To all the DUI Interlock Holders- my sympathy goes out to you. Unless this is the closest location to you, I would recommend trying elsewhere. Drive time, or even the Moana Express in Mesa. Try a different place.. Pro tip- installation and service fees should be a Total fee NOT PER each window... wow. read more

Horrible work quality. I brought my truck in for an autostart. When I got On the freeway my hood almost popped open. I called them they said it must of accidentally became unlatched when they were working under the dash. I had to take it to a shop to get it fixed. They didn't hook up the hood release back up. So not Only was My hood left unlatched, they left it Not working and left the zip Tie trash on the floor. Very unhappy with the quality of Work. It was extremely scary watching my hood Wobble like it was about to come unlatched. read more

Go to audio express!!!!! I had 2 vehicles worked on there with no issues and if there was something, it was fixed at no cost. My third vehicle, I went to Kartunes and have had nothing but problems. As soon as I left, my sub was going off for no reason. My amp was also placed under the driver seat where anything could spill because I have a toddler, it overheats with no airflow and everytime I adjust my seats, it hits it. I asked why the bad placement, it was always on the backseat and they said "to save wire." My tweeters pop out and my sub still goes on and off for no reason after the issue was "fixed." I'm disappointed and definitely regret changing up from Audio Express. read more

Today, I had a new JL Audio monoblock amp installed by Kar-Tunes. I cannot say enough good things about the entire team. I normally do my own car audio install work, but I decided not to this time. I spent a few days researching potential shops to help me out. I stumbled across Kar-Tunes on Yelp. They have a healthy amount of reviews and mostly positive. I was a little skeptical initially...So, I searched through the interwebs to find objective info about them. I discovered a very interesting backstory about Kar-Tunes. The most intriguing part was that they started out by supplying and installing car audio for car dealerships. To me, that sounds like a lot of trust to put into a car audio shop early on in their existence. After reading various reviews and objective research, I decided to entrust them with my car. I ended up making a great decision. Two days ago, I pulled up in front of their shop, which had multiple clean bays. Good sign. I walked into the shop and was immediately greeted by Jeff. Turns out I was actually greeted by the owner! Crazy timing. I explained my goals for the install, and my budget. Jeff suggested some quality gear that managed to be under my budget. He was very attentive and listened to all my concerns and requests. Turns out they were short-handed this week and they couldn't get me in until today. No one in the shop showed any real stress from being short-handed which was very professional. Kudos. That's a big pet peeve of mine. At some point in time, we all end up picking up slack at work, right?! Anyway, I decided to wait in their "lobby" while the work completed. The couch was super comfortable and they had plenty of distractions to stay busy while waiting. I ended up having a really nice chat with Dee (not sure on the spelling). She works as the administrative person there. She was very nice and kept me up to date throughout the install process. The install completed after about four hours, which was done by Jeff! Pretty cool that the owner cares enough to help his team out when they're short-handed. He showed me how he mounted the amp, bass knob, and the subwoofer. He also showed me how he ran the cabling, terminated the ground, and tuned everything. Really nice walkthrough for me. I care about the details and he could tell. Everything sounded perfect when I sat in my car. I haven't had to adjust anything! Incredible. I had a huge stupid smile all the way home! I highly recommend Kar-Tunes be in your top two choices when looking for an install shop. Obviously, do your research. Just know that I had a very positive experience. Another Update: I was having issues with my Apple Car Play, so called James for advice. Since it's been ages since my system was installed, I really just wanted some feedback on how to diagnose the problem. Instead, James sent me down to where one of his associates was working. Shane diagnosed the problem (which had nothing to do with the stereo) and I was on my way with a working system. They didn't have to do anything. They went out of their way to accommodate me, and I can't thank them enough. Outstanding service. UPDATE: it turns out that the reason I did not hear from Kartunes is that the Honda dealer gave them the wrong number. James was finally able to get a hold of me and made plans to fix my stereo system. We made an appointment and he got it done. That is outstanding service. I'm just sorry that he and Kartunes gotthe blame for something that was clearly the fault of someone else. After several months of my system working only intermittently at best, I called the Honda dealership, (Bell Honda), only to be told that their contractor was busy but would call me and come to my house to repair it. That was three weeks ago. Bell Honda has forgotten all about me, and Kartunes apparently no longer cares about the shoddy work they performed. Never again. read more

Took my car in because of a recommendation as I live in west Phoenix as the two previous installers totally messed up my car stereo system. The reverse camera cable was run over the exhaust and stopped working, the amp power was run to the drivers seat power and the power cable was speaker wire and was melting. The guys at Kartunes found these issues and not only fixed what was wrong but I now have a system in my car that is absolutely amazing! I'd give these guys a 10 not a 5 if ratings went that high! I had a new amp put in, drone security with remote access that is amazing too and a very good investment for car security. It took 4 days to fix and was worth every second my 2012 VW Golf R was in their shop.. what an awesome shop, totally knowledgeable staff on all their products and a first class very neat install.
