Mike was great, I had a main control board for a high end convection/microwave where one of the electrical relays had melted down. I realized Audiocraftsman specialized in audio equipment but due to the great reviews I thought I would see if they would help with my small solder project. Mike was willing to help but advised it could be a couple days because of existing client jobs. I agreed and asked him to rush my job if possible because it was our only microwave. I dropped the parts off on a Friday and he called me the next day for pickup. The control board is back in the oven and all is working well, thanks Mike! I had my McIntosh 303 repaired (very expensive equipment). To be fair, what the 1 star ratings are saying are in fact accurate. Personally, all I really cared about is getting my equipment fixed in a quick timeframe at a reasonable price. Was it expensive, yes. Did the repair work, yes. Mike is the only McIntosh Lab certified tech in San Diego, meaning he is exceptionally good. Equally importantly, Mike is honest, reasonably priced, and pleasant to do business with. My Marantz AV prepro (8802a) didn't power up one morning. This gear is essential for my TV watching and I wanted to have it fixed as quickly as possible. I found that the closest Marantz-authorized service was located in Huntington Beach, a 90-minute drive away. I really wanted to avoid this drive, which I might end up doing four times if I had to leave the unit at the shop. So, I searched for local audio repair service and found Mike on Yelp, on this page. Over the phone, Mike told me his expertise was in fixing HiFi not Home Theater, but would look at my unit anyway. I took it to his shop in Mira Mesa, where he replaced two failed caps and other parts; the glory of my Marantz was safely restored in one day! With the permeation of disposable audio gears (eg AirPods), HiFi repair perhaps has become a lost art. Great to know that guys like this still exist! I took him a circuit board from the overhead console display in my F350 truck. The display stopped working some months ago. Outside temp, compass, miles till empty, average MPG. I researched it via YouTube; So I knew what the common issue was. Mike quickly and affordably removed and re-soldered the 3 resistors that had come loose. My overhead display is back in action. He saved me the $200 I would have spent on a new circuit board. I feel compelled to write something. My 40 year old Yamaha M-2 power amplifier finally showed signs of old age. Mike had me do a precheck just to make sure the problem is on the amp and not the preamp. This thing is heavy...49lbs!!! I was losing sound on the left speaker and overall the sound was raspy with lots of distortion. Over the years I have taken my vintage stereo gear to be repaired as needed, Mike has always come through for me and fixed whatever I brought in. He just repaired my Turntable and before that I brought in a internal amplifier installed in my high end vintage speaker, I had no schematic and Mike didn't either but still repaired it and the speakers are still singing along. I enjoy music and own some really fancy ($$) audio equipment from Audio Research, Krell, Wilson Audio and the like. Looking for someone I trust enough to service them is not an easy task. PSA. Getting a treasured piece of audio gear repaired by Mike Zuccaro (owner of Audiocraftsman) became a very uncomfortable and painful experience for me. Mike may be a decent electronics repair technician, but he seriously lacks business ethics and managerial skills. His operation at his house is "Rinky-Dink" at best, where his front yard is a junk yard (I should have run for the hills right then). And you call him and he meets you out on his garage driveway and you conduct your business on a 30 (+) year old Nissan Pick-Up truck. He offers no invoice/work order and no mention upfront or disclosure of the diagnostic fee (Laws?). After he has your piece of equipment, you start to get this uneasy feeling, and the pain is just beginning. When he calls you a few days later w/ the diagnosis, you finally learn that it's a $100 fee. And you start to get a understanding for what this guy is up to (overcharge). He is not concerned w/ being fair or helping his customers get the service and repair bills they're comfortable with or would approve of. His prime concern is milking your job to as high a price as he feels he can justify. And once he has your piece of equipment, he knows he has you by the short hairs, and he takes full advantage of that fact. You start to lose sleep, wondering if you're going to need "10 on your side" to ever get your property back. Nightmare. Jacking up an agreed upon price. Very disorganized. Trying to add the charges of someone else's job/labor to your job. Cash only! I could go on and on, but? If you like to avoid stressful situations and not feeling like you're getting played, then just keep looking for someone more reputable. read more

Not so honest or reliable! Works out of an old shed in his backyard. I brought in my vintage receiver, it took forever to be repaired and when we came back weeks later we were hurriedly rushed out before we could even see if it actually worked or not. In the end, the receiver is in worse condition than when we took it in and we have to go and start all over, including all the money we lost with this guy. Absolutely don't believe his website that says he is the "best" at anything! read more
